Pricing was fair and they are very transparent about costs as they break down every component of pool construction. My project went without a single hiccup and I owe this to the hard work Matt and Jeff put in. To say these guys were on top of things would be an understatement. They responded to my calls/texts quickly and usually they were already one step ahead of me. I also want to mention how careful they were with my existing landscaping/lawn. We bought a home with an existing, but damaged and unattractive, pool, which had quite a few functional problems. We worked with Justin Joslin at Premier Pools to ensure we kept the structural integrity and tweaked some design details to improve the whole backyard's function and appearance. We met with Heather on design selections and she came up with the tile of my dreams. Justin is everything you want a project manager to be: Professional, in time, under budget and friendly. He's such a great guy that we'll genuinely miss seeing him in our yard. Every detail was handled beautifully. Each crew from demo to cleanup was skilled, professional and reliable. The finished product is exactly as we dreamed and is still better quality than we could have hoped for. This turnkey service is top notch. Premier also worked seamlessly with a decking crew who was on site resuscitating our deck at the same time. We can't thank them enough for working so well together so we could have a complete project in half the time. We met with several pool builders before deciding to proceed with Justin, and I'd choose him all over again. What you see is what you get. He's as chill, professional, genuine and as likable as they come. Eddy managed the crew with precision and I can't say enough about the efficient and hard work those guys do daily. Premier Pool and Spa exceeded every expectation Justin was phenomenal to work with. From the very beginning, he was easygoing, friendly, and incredibly personable, which made what could have been a stressful process feel exciting and collaborative instead. He completely understood my vision and designed a pool that was exactly what I wanted. I told him my top priorities were: * A functional lap lane with at least 30 feet of uninterrupted swimming * A layout that could comfortably host large groups, allowing space for people in the pool and those outside who still want to be close * A hot tub that was truly comfortable and could accommodate 8+ people Justin nailed all of it. In fact, when I later went to the showroom to choose tile, PebbleTec, and coping, I ended up selecting the exact finishes he had already included in my original design mockup--without even realizing it. That alone speaks volumes about his design sense and how well he listens to his clients. Eddie was also fantastic as our site coordinator. He was always prompt, responsive, and helpful whenever we had questions, which made the entire process feel organized and stress-free. Before starting this project, we had heard dozens of horror stories about pool companies and were honestly intimidated to even move forward. Premier Pool and Spa was recommended by our friend Bryan, who had done concrete work with them, and we later discovered that several of our friends had also used them--with nothing but positive things to say. After talking to numerous neighbors who have pools but couldn't recommend their builders, Premier stood out as our best option. And they absolutely delivered. The actual construction of the pool took about six weeks from start to finish, which was incredible. They then waited an additional six weeks to complete the PebbleTec while we finished other yard construction--but throughout the entire process, crews showed up consistently and worked every day. This was not one of those projects where no one shows up for days or weeks at a time or works for 30 minutes and disappears. The professionalism and consistency were impressive. The entire experience almost felt too good to be true--but it wasn't. We are beyond happy with our pool and couldn't recommend Premier Pool and Spa more highly. Could have been a perfect pool installation. At the end of the job, they left a 2 foot high pile of sand in the front yard. Blasted a 2 ft deep hole in my hillside garden while draining water. I had six garden light fixtures worth $600 that disappeared. When I asked Nick Fiello our salesman, he claimed that they did not exist. First and foremost, we were very impressed that Premier Pools (specifically the efforts of Sterling) was able to get our project through the permit process with the city of Carlsbad. We tried and failed to start this project originally with another pool company, and ultimately hit too many road blocks that the other company could not work out on our behalf with the town. Once our project was finally approved, things did progress smoothly! Their excavation guy Mika was amazing! Someone with less experience or skill would not have been able to work with the limited space we had, and probably would have said it wasn't possible. Our project manager Eric was also excellent (and side note, extremely good with our high energy dogs). Finally, Lindsey, the design person that helps pick out all the style type finishes such as tile and other interior finishes, was very patient, knowledgeable, and helpful. Since the pool was installed, the tile under the spa's spillway has bubbled away from the wall and ultimately fallen off in chunks into the pool THREE TIMES now. Premier sent someone out to re-tile under the spillway, and even to use different material in the spillway, twice. However, somehow water gets behind the tile and starts causing this issue. I don't know of anyone else, nor have I heard of any other pool owner with a spillway having this issue. Not even on pools over 20 years old! I am truly at my wits end with trying to figure out what to do about this. I'm not sure how a pool company wouldn't know how to keep this issue from happening in the first place let alone resolve it after multiple attempts. I have not contacted the company about this happening a third time, because honestly, if they couldn't get it right originally, and two times after, how is it going to be any different this time? We take good care of our pool, and even pay to have a professional come out, clean, and make sure the levels of the chemicals are correct. The pool is not neglected or misused in anyway. There really isn't a good excuse for this happening. Did they not build it correctly? Are they using cheap grout for the tile? I truly have no idea. Also, as someone else who posted a review stated, YES!... the rebar around the pool does rust and start showing through the coping. Not a great look. Lastly, don't let anyone talk you into getting spa controls at the spa itself. It doesn't take long for them to stop working. read more

My husband and I moved from Northern California to San Diego where we purchased our dream and forever home. Our home was a new build where the landscaping was all on the home owner and we knew that we wanted a pool. Being new in town without any personal recommendations, we searched on Yelp and did our due diligence in researching the numerous pool companies in the area. Building a pool is a huge undertaking! I can happily say we had a good experience with Premier Pools of Carlsbad. We had heard some nightmare stories about the process and were apprehensive when we started our project. Fortunately, we did not become one of those unpleasant stories. In the design stage we discovered that our septic leach lines prevented us from digging a pool in the original location. We thought we were out of luck. But Danny and Aaron had a vision we could not see. They reworked our design to fit an overlooked space in our yard and it turned out beautifully. We anticipated a build would take about a year given the need to coordinate permits, scheduling, and the various trades involved. To our delight, the project took about ten months from the problematic planning stage to completion. They set up a direct communication thread so we would be informed every step of the way. It was super helpful to know, on any given day, what would be happening and when the workers would arrive. Danny and Eric were timely in their responses when questions arose. They also coordinated with the landscape manager on shared aspects of the build. We always felt we were part of the team. Premier's customer service was always professional and courteous. The quality of construction and workmanship was also top notch. We would highly recommend them! read more

Update based on company response to my review... The lack of accountability on their part honestly blows my mind. My neighborhood is small. One street with 13 homes very close to each other. There are 4 other pools being built right now in addition to mine not 2 like Aaron wrote. This is kind of a good example of the attention to detail he has given my project. Had he once in the last year visited my jobsite to check on progress he would have noticed the other pools. Since you are reading this likely to help make a selection here are the other pool companies being used: BP Water Concepts - this one had a signed contract in May and her pool was completed in October. So permitting, materials, build, inspections all happened in 6 months. Terra Bella - this one had a signed contract in July and they are through tile and coping at this point. This is an extravagant project and the family is thrilled with the timeline and work competed so far. California Pools - Simple small project like mine. On schedule and the family is happy. Also Premier Pools - this one just kicked off so I have no feedback from this family on their experience yet. I left materials out of my original review but since Aaron mentioned it here is my experience. The first week of April 2021 I was asked to come into the showroom to select materials. I took a morning off of work and did as asked within 2 days of the request. I selected everything they needed that day and trusted they would take care of the rest. END OF JULY they contact me to let me know they had JUST followed up on my materials and they were no longer able to get them so I would need to come in and pick new ones. 4 months wasted because no one picked up the phone to check on the status for 4 MONTHS. At this point, I suggested we only look at materials that they can confirm delivery. My new selections to get the materials needed at the 11th hour were an $8K forced upgrade that Premier did not share with me. I do not think this is unique to Premier Pools but if you are new to the pool building game you agree to pay in front of the work being completed. A simple pool like mine costs close to $100K. I only owe them $4K at this point but I don't have pool equipment installed and my pool interior (plaster) has not been completed so we are still far out from the finish line. The combination of the money for this pool already being on their books, Aaron's belief that project plans don't need dates and just the general lack of accountability makes me nervous for how long this project that was contracted in 2020 will drag into 2022. We hired this company to do our pool. They were very nice at first. I thought our rep was great (at first). It was a bit of a bait and switch. The week they were supposed to commence construction they began speaking to us in an extremely disrespectful manner and demanded more money without any changes to the scope of work. Our lawyer's opinion was that they did not perform on the contract and would be liable for damages in litigation. They were extremely rude to my wife for absolutely no reason - that was the tone they started the conversation with. It felt like something internal was motivating it, with their rep coming in really hot to start. He was fresh off their sales team retreat, so perhaps a company goal aligned with trying to extract more money from existing clients. I can't say for sure. It really felt like an aggressive shakedown by someone desperate for money. I would not recommend doing business with a company this dishonest and unprofessional. Lord only knows what types of corners a business that operates like that would be ok cutting. We ended up doing business with someone else due to PP's inability to honor our signed contract and it turned out great. It couldn't be better, to be honest. Thank goodness we didn't let them intimidate us and rip us off. Judging by these reviews, the build would have been inferior to what we achieved with someone else... someone who keeps their agreements. read more

Justin our sales and project manager was excellent for service. His follow-up on every detail was awesome. Anything that gave the hint of not going right he was right there correcting it. The site project leader Eddy did a great job too. They helped us select the best product and choices as the pool progressed. Eddy did a good job stopping any contractor if it wasn't going as we wanted it to and redirected them or managed up to Justin. Atrocious attention to detail My parents used this company. Over months of overcharging and generally taking advantage of their vulnerability, the project itself was disorganized, the coordinator was non communicative, and the final work is filled with glaring errors. The grout is half-assed -- it is underapplied in many places and overapplied in fairly obvious places, even near the door. They were reluctant to conduct proper drainage, the workers themselves were critical in Spanish of my parents, believing their comments were unheard, and finally, when confronted about objectively uneven turf, they claimed it would "even out with raking." I've installed and demolished this turf before. They lied knowingly, and obviously, it did not even out. Shoddy craftsmanship and poor management. read more

"Premier Pools & Spas is the best in the business." - by friend who works at a wholesale pool materials company. This is what propelled us to ask Premier for a quote and ultimately, choose them to build our pool. The whole process was amazing, smooth, professional, and actually fun! Here are the reasons we loved it: service, materials, teamwork. Service: NICK (our sales rep) IS THE BOMB. He was patient and kind througout the whole process because at first we were very scared to take on such a large project. I mean, we hemed and hawed for weeks and he stuck with us never pressuring us but always available when we had questions. He addressed our fears and made adjustments to the design as we went. He is a great listener and met with us whatever time worked best even if it was early mornings, weekends or evenings. He was beyond accomidating and is truly the real reason we were brave and jumped in. He made it feel safe, doable, inspiring, and fun. Materials: Premier only useses a particular pump - the best pump on the market. Their showroom in Carlsbad had a super helpful materials expert that works with you and the sales rep to meet your needs. All along the way, our friend who does wholesale pool materials said that Premier was offering the best materials. Teamwork: One special thing that we noticed is that all of the subs (diggers, shotcrete, and concrete/paver companies) all seemed like they enjoyed working together and with Premier. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be outside working together. Every sub also worked their tails off. Not one team slacked or seemed to be lagging. This told me that Premier has great relationships with each sub and that says a lot about how Premier leads the process. If I ever own another home and need a pool, Premier will be who we use. Build the pool even if you're scared like we were because it really is amazing with Nick and Premier by your side! read more

This is our second pool with Aaron Temme. First pool went fine. Not sure why they did such a terrible job on our second pool with them, whether they just got lazy or if it was because I changed my name or if they're just not good at handling difficult permitting. But it took over 10 months and $7200 for them to not get our pool permitted. Zero construction work done, zero permit. All we got is a pdf of the unpermitted plans. Aaron came to the house and checked out what we were looking to do before we even bought the house in March 2023. We wanted to put in a 25 yard pool into our banked side yard. He said it would be no problem as long as we kept the retaining wall 6 feet or lower. We did reduce the length of the pool by chopping off the extended lap lane. Most of the design and placement stayed the same. This probably added a month and some design costs to the project. The design process took longer than desired due to Aaron moving slowly and our design change but we had a final design in August. December rolled around and we still had no permit. I was sick of Aaron not responding to our phone calls and texts and emails and telling me he was on vacation in Tulum or Europe or wherever. So I went into the city to ask them directly what was up. Got direct answers immediately from the city who met with me as a walk in. They explained what needed to be done and Aaron got his soils guy to come out right away to get the city what they needed. There's no reason this couldn't have happened in August or September or October or November. And there's no reason I as the customer should have had to get in the middle of it. That's what I'm paying Aaron for. The city of Carlsbad changed their rules on evaluating cuts into slopes. Their changes took Aaron and the local Geologists by surprise. This is totally understandable and not Aaron's fault or the geologist's fault. The city changed the rules (which can happen sometimes) and we need to adapt. The issue is that Aaron didn't do anything to speed up that process. I definitely expected more urgency on our project given that it had been in the pipeline for over 10 months. We are paying him every penny of what he is demanding to cancel our build and moving on with our lives. In summary, if you have an easy pool and meet Aaron's expectations of who his customers should be, then Premier will probably be fine. Don't expect him to hustle for you though. read more

Would not recommend lost of problems with the pool. They built it 2 years ago since then the coping has cracked, tiles are popping off which they tell me they will not warranty because it's been more than 11 months since pool was finished. The light broke they installed. They had to redo several things as they were building the pool. They just sub everything out to cheapest bider and do nothing in house. Steer clear. read more

We have just finished putting in our dream pool with Premier pool and spa. Sterling drew us up a beautiful design and referred us to great contractors to complete our whole backyard from a grass lot to a beautiful pool. Their communication with Jose was on point, responded very quickly showed up when they said they were going to and had a very tight schedule for us. we were a total of five months from big day to water being put in the pool which I think is a very quick turnaround. Especially since we redid our entire backyard with concrete and decking. We would highly recommend them to anyone else to use. We had zero complaints. read more
