Walter is a saint!!! I had this vintage Chanel Jumbo flap that's definitely seen better days. I had been meaning to send it off to get it repaired but finally got the chance to do it earlier this month. I got a quick quote from Walter and brought my purse into the store during a lunch break. Was quoted $190 for extensive repairs. He repaired all 4 corners (repiped and painted) and secured the CC hardware. Walter asked for a few extra days to get the product finished and I was in no rush. Was able to pick up my beauty soon after. The pics speak for themselves!! Thanks Walter!

I am shocked! I've had my Louboutins for years and I thought they were at the end of their road. Walter worked magic and they are just like new. He even picked up and dropped off because, well, I really didn't want to trek around in the NYC snow. Highly recommend.

In 2023, Dear Eduard & Papa Rubin, I'm blown away by the personal and the professional service from dear Eduard & papa Rubin at Cobbler Express on 60 E 42st street yet again. I came down from Boston in 2019 for the first time to get my purse from Paris treated (see the photos below). Then, re-visited them for my Bally purse this time and the same amazing and sincere services happened (see the new photos inserted). I did not know that the whole family was famous for their shoe business back in Russia. Anyhow, no matter what, such people and services still do exist here at Cobble Express and God bless their business and the family to provide dear services for me to enjoy rich life- knowing them in life is one rich aspect and my nostalgic pieces (bags & shoes, etc) get restored safely is another. Thanks to Eduard and papa Rubin for good old times sake encounter at your new store. Happy New Year! Truly yours, ariel In 2019, Dear Eduard, Thank you for all your precious time and the effort to fix my the most personable and full of memory purse! You really treated my purse as if it was yours! My my, it was indeed well worth coming down from Boston and the service was truly beyond and above. If I were selfish I would keep this as a secret but the world needs to know a surreal person like you exist in NY...Once again, thanks a million! Thx Papa and two other assistants as well, can't say thank you enough~ Sincerely, ariel ps. if any of you out there looking for an amazing shoes/purse services, please look for further~ :)

Resoled Doc Martens with Vibram half sole and heel sole

When the sole of my favorite Doc Martens finally cracked, I was dismayed. I know a lot of cobblers won't even resole docs. Luckily, I found Premium Cobbler. Walter did an impeccable job putting on a new half sole and heel sole. They look brand new! He even buffed out some of the scratches and scuffs. Not only was the quality of craftsman ship above & beyond, the price was also super fair & Walter finished the resole + regluing another pair with the fastest turnaround time I've ever had with a cobbler in the city. Really happy to have found my new go-to spot for shoe repair!

I found this place through google and was a little skeptical at how good their work looked . They left me speechless . They pretty much made my shoes look brand new again ! Thank you so much

Before with the gummy sole ‍

This is my second time visiting this location. The first time I got my Louis Vuitton bag repaired and he did a phenomenal job. He must do awesome work if I traveled from Queens to New York City to get my shoes repaired. Based on the work that he did with my bag I was willing to travel 40 minutes to make sure that my boots that I love so much were in good hands. When I brought the shoes to him he suggested to change the bottom from a gummy sole because of the debris it picks up while walking. Reluctantly I took his advice and changed the sole and I am thoroughly pleased. He has definitely gained a lifelong customer. Good good work. See my pictures.

    Leather repair

A friend recommended premium cobbler and had my Louboutins dropped off pre quarantine. I was able to pick them up today and they did an AMAZING job at a very reasonable price. I don't have any prior photos but my shoes were pretty destroyed. They look amazing now. Will be using them for all my high end shoe repairs. My shoes were about 4 years old (in Christian louboutin time is AGES. )

The best shoe repair on the UES! They cleaned my suede shoes and waterproofed them for $20 while I waited, comfortably. Walter is an angel. Six stars!

    AFTER Chanel Timeless Soft Tote

I had a pair of Christian Louboutin high heel boots whose heel I broke in Paris (apparently French women don't wear heels on cobblestone streets ;). Also I had a preloved Chanel bag whose bottom edges were showing a bit of wear. I was really worried about finding someone to trust my luxury goods with in NYC. I normally take them to LA for repair. Walter did a fantastic job on both. I was hesitant to let him paint the bag (and not just the edges) but the color was a really good match and the Chanel tote looks awesome.

The picture speaks for itself. Fast turn around time and fair price. $65 for sole protector, cleaning and heel tips. My new go to place for shoe repair!!

My fixed bag no longer shows the horrible dark discoloration & has gotten back the delicate unbuckle finish.

What you will find instead is top-notch shoe repair services and quite possible the best shoeshine available on the island of Manhattan -- or pretty much anywhere. Most recently, I took my beat-up, 15-year-old pair of Bruno Magli shoes to be resoled, and the results were stunning. I've had them repaired before with good results in the past, but there was exquisite attention to detail in the contour of the replacement soles; you'd hardly know that they weren't original, unless you know your Bruno Magli! The shoeshine was deep and long-lasting; two weeks after almost-daily use and commuting, there was still almost a mirror-like finish on them. Impressive. The décor and branding wouldn't win any awards, and you don't come here to chat (or to save a few bucks), but the quality of the work could hardly be better.

What everyone doesn't know is how a great shoe shine can completely change your outlook on the day. Most kids grew up being told that no matter what you do in life, make sure you always have clean underwear on. (Which is excellent advice.) Bullet number two on that list should be to always have on freshly-shined shoes. You could roll out of a Dumpster, filthy dirty, and stinking to the high heavens. As long as you have on a pair of shiny black or brown shoes, no one will ever notice. People who take the time to get a shoe shine are in the same class of people who give that extra wipe in the bathroom to make sure their butt is super-clean. They're the people who smile produly at everyone they pass by on the streets because they know how awesome their shiny shoes look on their feet. If you don't believe me, try it one day. Go get a shoe shine and watch how your entire life transforms in front of your face. And no one does a shoe shine better than the guys at Drago. For less than $10 with tip, they will take the ugliest, dirtiest, nastiest shoes you own, and in just a few minutes they will transform them into something that looks better than the day you bought them. They are the best. Trust me when I say there is magic happening in this little pocket of the Port Authority. You just have to discover it in order to believe it.

I first brought the boots to the Grand Central location and was turned away because apparently only 55th Street (the least accessible NYC location for me) does calf alterations. My boots were 1-1.5" too wide in the calves as I have very narrow legs, and while I was clear that I didn't want them to be tight, I did want them to look more fitted and neater around my legs. I went to 55th Street and intentionally had the boots fitted over jeans, repeatedly telling the store employee that he was cutting off my circulation and needed to loosen the boots. Rather than listen to me and do what I asked, he told me that they could stretch them if they turned out too small. I very adamantly said no, I will not compromise the integrity of the leather by stretching them nor will I agree to have the boots made too small so that additional work will be required. I finally asked him to provide the final measurement and was told it was 13". The boots were originally 14.5" for reference. The boots were ready in just over a week, which already had me concerned since I hadn't requested a rush job. Upon receiving them, I could immediately see that they were two different sizes. The left boot is 12.5" and the right boot is just barely 12.25". They are nearly impossible to zip, the seams were done VERY poorly and not straight, and most importantly, they do not fit without severe pain. I cannot walk in them. I literally can't even move my right ankle. And that's on my bare legs without jeans. I immediately contacted Leather Spa and received a response from Vincent who said it's very common for boots with this type of repair to require additional treatment and that I should bring them back for stretching. Did I not already have this conversation BEFORE I paid $300+ to ruin $2k+ boots??? Vincent insists they are not ruined even after I sent photos showing that they very much are. Further, they didn't even send them back to me nicely - they threw shreds of cut leather pieces inside one of the boots and just sent them off that way as further evidence of the total rush job. I used to frequent Leather Spa 55th and my patronage fell off years ago after they did something very similar to a pair of $300 boots. I was very clear during my visit this time that that could not happen again with my brand new Louboutin boots that were significantly more expensive. Had the employee just told me on the spot that they were going to cut my boots too small and require stretching thereafter, I would've taken the boots, walked out and gotten them repaired elsewhere. Literally the only reason I returned to Leather Spa is because Christian Louboutin recommends them. Never again.

Often, unless the guy is just THAT good, this leaves your shoes looking only half done. Not so at Friend's Shoe Repair! This clean, comfortable tiny store has a staff that definitely does a thorough job. Usually once your shoes are beginning to shine, that signals the end of the shine. Here, the staff takes extra time to clean the edges of the shoes, they buff several times with several different towels and they make sure they get every nook and cranny of your shoes done before saying "Done!" or "Thank you!". I am really impressed by this place and also impressed that they don't cost an arm and a leg (it was just $3 for the shine minus tip). While I've never used this location for shoe repair, I would definitely consider it if I need shoes fixed in the future. As I got my shine done today, I saw about four customers all come in with shoes to fix, and all of them had a comfortable familiarity with the man who did the repairs, telling me that they've been there before. Repeat business on that scale definitely shows people trust this place. In addition to repairs and shines, this store also sells a variety of nick knacks, some related to shoes (such as heel spur cushions, shoe shine equipment and so on) and others that are not (colored key wrappers, batteries etc.).
