I was in the area and visiting family when I saw an opportunity to assist in cleaning. I found in the nearest grocery spot. I figured I'd give it a chance there was nothing planned or a list. Just general things I had in mind. The place itself had ample parking not constrained spaces, which is a nice touch. I was greeted by the security guard outside, which was very considerate and helped by two different store employees to not only find a beverage and a hand basket, but also the cleaning supplies area. In terms of selection, it is true. It is a smaller store so you're not gonna find an extravaganza of assortment, but I was pleasantly surprised to find specific scrubs and brushes and scrub pads that I was hoping to find so it all worked out in the end. Store was clean and the staff was friendly. That really does check a lot of boxes for me especially on a place I wasn't familiar with to begin with. read more

We came here as we were nearby. We thought per the spelling in Yelp that they are part of the Presidente chain -- that's Presidente with an "e" on the end. It's seems, however, they are an independent supermarket. The similar name is confusing -- but this might be deliberate. Still it's a typical Latin supermarket. A bit crazy and busy. And prices are not cheap either unless something is on sale -- which was not when we came. As we needed eggs which we were hoping were the other store's sale price, we actually would up paying a lot more here than Walmart. Oh well. Now we know. read more

The highest concentration of stores is in the South Florida area. Representatives of PRESIDENT explain the "e" has been dropped to attract shoppers who do not feel comfortable shopping in Hispanic markets, (a very insightful commentary, but sad, on today's world). Prices at President Supermarkets and this one included, are comparable to Publix. This market is smaller than others I have been in and honestly, I prefer to shop the Presidente brand with lower prices on select items and inviting cafeterias to enjoy. Not only is the price good, the dozen of roses lasted 10 days. They have a security guard at the front which is Overall the staff are helpful. This supermarket has a lot of Latin products, a great variety of products from Central America and South America. I usually get coffee, teas seasonings, juices and corn tortillas. The price of the produce is affordable, if you are on a tight budget you will be able to save money. I had also bought cold meats and chimichurri for steak. Went to buy fish. Wanted the fish cleaned. Clerk spoke no English. After sign language back and forth he stated can clean fish because it's frozen. I ask him to put in sink with warm water. Other stores do this. He said no. Went to customer service to speak with a manager. Was told store manager was on 15 minute break. No one else around to talk to. Will never go back. This pandemic is having me go to places that I have never been. This place is one of them. Located on federal highway in Hollywood was out doing errands so stopped here for some limes. First thing to get a parking spot this place is packed luckily snagged one of the last ones on a Sunday afternoon. Once inside I headed for the limes 6 for $.99. Also got some Poblano peppers that looked great. I headed to the 10 and under express the line wrapped down an aisle. This is our new normal lines at any store that is essential to being open. There was an odor in the air that was hard to identify wasn't fresh and clean that's for sure. Listen get what you need and leave definitely not a place you want to hang out in and dilly dally. Would I come back that is hard to say at this time. Definitely if there is no other place but not a destination to plan on. Presidente Supermarket? They should call this place President Supermarket! This place has literally no imported Latin American foodstuffs, much less anything from the Caribbean. I came here thinking, they have to have a simple hairy brown coconut, and they did not. Either way I walked all the aisles to investigate what they had, and all I saw were cheap, unknown branded outside of "Trump-supporting" Goya food items. Worse, after about 8 minutes I got the hell out of there I then was followed by a panhandler who looked identical to one of those creatures from the show "The Walking Dead". I was surprised the first time I came here, because I thought all the Presidente markets would be relatively similar if they bore the same name. However, the produce stock and pricing is different in each location. The bakery here is pretty awesome, though. Came in a few times whenever I was near the airport to grab a cold drink and sweet treat. The guava and cheese pastries are my favorite, but then again, I've never heard of anyone NOT liking guava and cheese. The coconut pastries were a close second. Didn't really care for the empanadas, and the palmeritas were disappointingly soggy. They're periodically making fresh bread throughout the day, and I've seen a lot of people get them although I haven't tried it. Overall, I wouldn't really care to get meat or fish here because of the seemingly unregulated way it's stored, but the produce section has some interesting choices and the bakery is a nice bonus. read more

I went to the one in Delray. Definitely the worst experience ever. I wanted a pound of ham Cold cuts are in the meat department Three people attending, none knowing how to use the slide machine . They told me to wait for the guy that does . 30 min later he appeared . I asked for the ham in a sign on top of the counter ,when he finished he gave me the package with a different price . He didn't know how to correct the price neither the terrible manager who make me wait another 15 min and didn't resolved the problem neither. While waiting I noticed that they use the same scale to weight all the meats without any plastic bag ! Poor customer service especially for non-Spanish speakers. There are two prices for the flyer items advertised, one the original computer price and then the flyer advertised price which is actually only adjusted by the cashier but only if when they ask you, " do you speak Spanish ". you answer, " yes " then they adjust the price. if you say ,"no". the manager will say you pay what's in the computer or you don't want the item , they say," forget the price on the flyer.". it's a bait and switch thing. Everything looks so fresh with decent low prices...bananas - $0.39 a pound, plantains - 2/$0.99, etc. The cashier was friendly and getting my stuff checked out was quick. Managers and older employees are extremely rude. I got charged 3 times for one transaction. Cashier's are extremely slow and if you say anything they are even slower. It is not the purchaser fault to deal with horrible hiring. I called to ask why they charged me 3 times and I was waiting for 45 minutes. I called many times just to ask why they abuse customers that way and never answered because they had caller id. Will never go back, if you are not like them they are extremely rude. Prices differ, depending on what day you shop here. On Tues, Wed and Thur, chuck roast has one price. On Fri, Sat & Sun, the chuck roast could be higher. I think it's like that with all the meat in the meat department. Fresh fish in the back. Large pieces of meat sold in the back. Good prices on produce. I always find they have the BEST prices on limes! Lots of Latin and American products. Tons of Latin cheeses and creama. Always crowded. Parking lot is always a mess .. I bought a few mangoes that were from Mexico that we're still very firm when squeezed lightly. I put them in a dark corner for 2-3 days. When cut open, the mango was rotten all the way down to the seed. Took it back to exchange for another. They refused, "you must return fruits / veggies in 3 days" I asked where is that written?? They pointed me to a sheet of paper on a column - NO WHERE NEAR THE PRODUCE SECTION - written in small type. Such a deceptive practice should not be legal. Never shopping at Presidente again. So I'm walking around the supermarket and I start noticing they are a couple things that I had picked up had an expired date on it. I go over to the customer service lady and I asked her if she knew that there was expired food on their shelves. She just kind of shrugged and made a face. Then I asked her if she had anymore preferably non-expired canned beans in the back. She said she didn't then she asked me if I would like to buy the canned of expired black beans that I had shown her. I told her of course I did not want those beans. She told me to hold on while she called the suppose it owner of the supermarket. She was on the phone with him for about four minutes while a long line formed behind me. And then she told me that She had asked the owner if he would give me a discount for the beans even though I didn't ask for one, but in any case the owner said to sell me the beans at the full price without any discount. I had no idea what they actually said on the phone since they were speaking Spanish and I don't speak Spanish. First check if the product you buy is not expired, usually they sell product expired or soon gonna be expired. Second, they ask for ID when you pay with credit card and not buying alcohol or tabaco product. Happened to me that after do that, my credit card number was stolen and be changed in others states. So they are not familiar with the law about it when to ask for ID when costumer use signed credit cards. Price we're good years ago now they are not. read more

I'll take Presidente over Whole Foods any day of the week. It's actually great to see local, working-class people for a change. Whole Foods is okay, but it can get really pretentious. All those sickly-looking Vegans and super wealthy that preside and congregate the Aventura area (ewww). Presidente, on the contrary, is a local charm. It's unassuming and caters more to the less-privileged. It's just a humble supermarket, and it's been there for sooo long, so there's a homely feeling when you walk in. Horrible experience. I only go there for two Brazilian items (Pão-de-queijo and requeijão). Last Sunday, I bought home a 1 year expired Requeijão (brazilian cream cheese). UNACCEPTABLE!!. Place is disgusting, rude staff and you think Publix is getting expensive, Presidente is THE WORST. Prices are so high, quality sucks and they don't check expiration dates.
