    Gelato

We came to the Abbott Market to grab some food after walking around . My boys saw this amazing Gelato through the glass at Press Sandwiches so after their lunch I let them have one . We got greeted by this nice young man called Nick he was very friendly and welcoming. My boys loved their Gelatos . So press Sandwiches is literally in the middle of everything u can't miss it . I seen so many good items on the menu for this place that now I have to come back to try the sandwiches next time . Overall definitely a good place to stop and grab something.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon! There was no wait to order. I ordered the Italiano. You are able to see your sandwich/food being made which I liked. It was around $10 for the sandwich which I felt was reasonable. It was stacked with meat, vegetables and lovely spread. The bread it was on was tasty but I wish it was a little more fresh. There is plenty of seating as this is an open market type area. There is also restrooms with a code which is nice for the area. I would definitely come back!

The panini is question that took over 40 minutes to get to me. Rather has my money back and gotten food somewhere else.

This poor score is for the service. When we ordered, the guy responded our order back mumbled and never made eye contact. Weird, but okay he's a young guy so whatever we thought. We ordered two sandwiches. The first one came out after 20 minutes, which was much longer than expected and we had no information how long the next one will be. My kind boyfriend stood in front of the counter and asked 4x over the next additional 20 minutes when my sandwich will be ready. Resulting in his sandwich to be cold and already done before I have even gotten mine. In front of my boyfriend, when they told him 2 minutes my sandwich will be ready they ended up giving to another customer. I've worked in a similar set up and a panini sandwich does not take this long. Maybe if you are fine waiting a long time you'll enjoy it, but this service is ridiculous. It's was 10 minutes since the guy gave my sandwich to someone else and it seems fixing their mistake doesn't matter. The food it good, but this is extremely disappointing. Should note there is as actually 2 guys working there. I'd rather have gone somewhere else than have to eat my sandwich over 20 minutes after my boyfriend got his. The panini I got ended up also being cold in the middle. They were fine, maybe I'd find them better if it didn't take almost an hour to get these. Doubt I will recommend or come back here again.

I had the best experience here, gelato was excellent and what topped it all, was the amazing service and friendly attitude from Joey.

I finally got here! I found this place via an IG post…read moreduring the Pandemic. It's a little smaller than I thought. The crew working were polite & friendly. The pointed out where we could grab the menus. I heard their sandwiches were big & flavorful, so I shared with my 10 yr old. We got the NEPTUNE sandwich ($17), with picked onions on the side, as she doesn't enjoy them. We both really loved it. She said she kinda wished we didn't share. But she didn't know if she could finish another half. It had: Oven Roasted Turkey, Basil Pesto, Provolone, Sun-Dried Tomato Aioli, Arugula, Marinated Cherry Tomatoes, Pickled Onions, Fresh Basil, Rosemary- Garlic Aloli on Toasted Francese Roll Husband got the brisket chili. Didn't have an insane amount of beans. But it did have corn. It didn't take just like bbq, it did still taste like Chili. He really enjoyed it. Grandma got the black and blue sandwich. It was really good. I would try that next time. Several sandwiches looked delicious. I will definitely be back. Highly recommend. Love a small & local business like this. They have quality ingredients & great flavors.

The Mermaid - truly my fave, still thinkin about her mmm. The Surfer - I mean wow, also another banger. We sat in the back patio which had plenty of seating and was pretty chill.

Just hop in line, grab a ticket, wait to be called to order, then head to the next register to pay! The place has that classic, old-school sandwich deli feel, warm and inviting. There's also outdoor seating, which is perfect if you want to catch some sun and enjoy your food. We originally found this spot on Yelp (and saw it all over TikTok), so expectations were definitely high and it didn't disappoint. My wife and I were on the hunt for the perfect beach sandwich, and this was exactly that. I went with the chicken parmesan sandwich... and wow. The cheese pull alone was worth it!! We took our food to the beach, paired it with a cold adult beverage and some BBQ kettle chips, and it absolutely hit the spot. Definitely a place worth checking out if you're in Santa Cruz and craving a solid sandwich.

On…read moreour first visit, we ordered two kids' grilled cheeses, and they were made with two full slices of bread. The very next day, we ordered the exact same thing, and they came on what looked like half a slice of bread. There was absolutely no consistency in the portion size. To make matters worse, we were charged $16 for two kids' grilled cheeses on the second visit, yet the day before we paid only $10 for what appeared to be a larger portion. Paying more for less made no sense. What was most disappointing, though, was the customer service. The employees were incredibly rude and acted as if we were an inconvenience instead of paying customers. Rather than answering our questions or addressing our concerns professionally, they were dismissive and made us feel unwelcome. We gave this place a second chance, hoping our first experience was just an off day, but it ended up being even worse. Between the inconsistent portions, confusing pricing, and poor customer service, we won't be returning and can't recommend this place to others.

All the staff were super friendly, energetic and cool to converse with. Light reggae music was playing in the background during our visit. We enjoyed two of their speciality sandwiches off their extensive menu - we ordered the Surfin' Pig and the Santa Cruz sub sandwiches. The Surfin' Pig has ham, avocado, bacon & cream cheese, with provolone cheese added when ordered as a hot sandwich. One can order with "all the fixings" or one can have the sandwich custom prepared as one wishes. Their Santa Cruz sub comes with pastrami, avocado, bacon & cream cheese, with provolone cheese added when ordered hot. Again, one can customize the toppings as one wishes. The bread was spongy and extremely fresh, as were all the ingredients on our well-assembled gourmet sandwiches which were packed with ingredients. I heard a staff member tell another customer Beach Hut freshly prepares all ingredients daily. They offer more than sandwiches: soups, salads and other specialty dishes of the day. In addition to a large variety of canned or fountain beverages, beer and wine are available.

That was a fantastic suggestion. The vibe was incredibly chill, much like you would find at the beach and the tables were fashioned like wooden surfboards. You Go to the counter to order and then they bring the food to you. The staff was very friendly and very beach-like. They had a great menu and choices of cold or hot sandwiches, munchies, happy hour foods, and salads. The ambience of the restaurant was very nice we did go a little between dinner and lunch in the afternoon but there were still quite a few people milling around. It was very clean and each booth was separated so you could hear yourself talk; it wasn't an open floor plan. There was outdoor seating as well, which was more of an open floor plan. The food was great. They had many different sizes of sandwiches. We got the three-inch, which was more than enough for us. I got the three-inch Santa Cruz, it's a cold sandwich, but there was very little fat on the pastrami. I also got a cup of clam chowder which had a little bit of bacon on top of-fantastic. The sandwich was fantastic and just the perfect size for a soup and salad combination. My wife got the skinny dipper just without mayonnaise and onions, but it had Au jus on the side. She said it also tasted fantastic and she got the chicken poblano soup. Both soups came with bread, thinly sliced small pieces of bread but they were fantastic with the soup. She had a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, and I had one of their specialty beers. In all ohh the meal was fantastic. Couldn't have asked for a better spot in downtown Santa Cruz you've got to try this, it is fantastic, the food is great, the prices are reasonable and the soups are homemade. The ambience or the vibe as they say nowadays, was very calming. There are other locations. You might want to see if there's one nearer to you, but I can't guarantee it will have the same vibe as Santa Cruz did.

I had a pastrami sandwich there once before and it was pretty good, so figured this would do. Ordered the burger combo with Lentil soup. Asked for my burger medium and when it came out it was well past that and I'm pretty sure it was a frozen patty. I have frozen patties I cook at home that are great, so guessing it just wasn't very good quality to begin with. The lentil soup was flavorless and I only had a few bites before tossing out. Seasoning, a ham hock, and some aromatics would do a lot for this soup. Left feeling very disappointed as there are a bunch of more satisfying options in the area and I chose the wrong one. As I was sitting in traffic, my stomach started feeling like I ate some broken glass or something. Obviously there wasn't broken glass in the burger, just a fitting analogy. I had stomach pains for the next few hours. This is all I had eaten in like 10 hours, so I'm positive it was the burger. The woman at the counter was friendly and the place was pretty clean. I've got a pretty iron gut and it takes a lot to make it turn. Don't think I will be going back.
