As like all Pressed Juicery locations it's compact, well lit, with a ton of refrigeration. Employees generally bubbly. Yet I'm not here to juice or mingle w/ celery, I came in for the Freeze... The Freeze is a soft-serve frozen treat using only juices from fruits and vegetables, almonds and coconuts, it's a vegan, gluten and dairy-free dessert packed with the same nutrition found in the signature juices. There's about 5-6 flavors, I opt for the Matcha on this round (I've had the Vanilla Almond before and that was delicious) and choose toppings of strawberries, blueberries, coconut, with a drizzle of almond butter. I also go with the larger size at $8. For the small it'll run you around $6 with all the toppings I picked. But I'm here to par-tay in my mouth! The newest Pressed Juicery location in SF is quite tiny. The fridge is filled with cold pressed juices shipped from LA. You can buy them individually or as part of a cleanse. They have three types of juice cleanses ($48 regular price, $38 special - cheap compared to other cleanses), each of which allow you to pick your own juices. Cleanse 1 is for newbies and Cleanse 3 is the most intense. A juice cleanse comes with 5 juices, 1 bottle of almond milk, and two water based drinks (chlorophyll water and aloe water). Drinks are 16 ounces each. Unlike most juice places, you can sample the juices before you buy them (big plus). They come in plastic bottles which doesn't bother me since they are recyclable. The nutrition information is on each bottle. The juices are unpasteurized and raw but not organic...the price(most drinks are $6.50) is lower than what you'd pay for organic cold pressed juice (around $10). They've added a lot more information and advice about cleansing than they had the last time I cleansed. Meh. I'm an avid juicer and I purchase juice a lot as well from Sidewalk Juice and Juice Shop. The juice I tried (pineapple pear mint) tastes like the bottled juices sold at Whole Foods. It is not nearly as delicious as fresh pressed juice from your own kitchen or one of the other local shops. As for bottled, I prefer Juice Shop down the street for taste as well as for environmental and health reasons. Here are my gripes with Pressed Juicery: 1. It is not at all 100% organic. Quote from woman working in the store: "Every bottle has some organic in it". Well, I'd prefer to have no pesticides in my juice thanks. If its not organic, it's basically a concentrated bottle of pesticides. Gross. 2. They are bottled in plastic. Not even compostable. Really?? REALLY? I just see a huge landfill when I walk by this place. Shame on them. Juice Shop has glass bottles with a deposit which is refunded. 3. Juices are driven up from Los Angeles every day. Driven. Gas. Oil. Plus the plastic bottles and lack of organic produce = HUGE carbon footprint. Massive carbon footprint. Can your environmental conscience handle that? Mine can't. (They let me know that soon they'll be opening a distribution/juicing center in Fresno which still means 4 hours on a truck through the valley before it gets to SF) Opening a business that creates massive amounts of waste and supports non organic farming is detrimental to the health of our planet and our bodies. On my first day off of a Pressed Juicery 3-day juice cleanse, I thought it would be appropriate to write a Yelp review. Honestly, this juice cleanse was one of the most seamless and most effortless (as effortless as juice cleanses can be... heh) ones that I've done! Starting my cleanse was so simple - I just walked into the store on the day before my cleanse and picked up 16 juices with no hassle whatsoever. I had a list of juices beforehand, which was handy, but what was really great was that I was able to sample every single juice that I was interested in purchasing (and even ones that I just wanted to try). Staff members are super helpful with their commentary as for which juices serve which benefits and which ones are most suited to your individual tastes. Customer service was just superb! The juices themselves are actually really enjoyable. I'm not a huge fan of green juices (I have a sweet tooth, admittedly), but Pressed Juicery provided me with the only pure greens juice (Greens 1) so far that I've been able to handle. Nutrition facts and ingredient lists are both super clear - no secrets! What I think makes Pressed Juicery stand out from other juice shops (online and in-store) is the pricing. They have great deals for buying in bulk - $30 for 5 juices or $40 for 8 juices - with a new member discount of 25% off your entire purchase if you create an account. I got my first 3-day juice cleanse for only $60 including tax... which is almost half the price of other locations! Product: 3 day detox cleanse I am new to juicing, and the biggest misperception people have is that juices give you the same nutrition as whole veggies and fruit. And that was what I thought until I looked at the nutrition facts. They claim each bottle of juices contains 5lbs of vegetables and fruits, but when I looked at the nutrition facts, there were less than 1g of fiber per serving? Where did all the fiber went?! Then, I realized it's the skin and pulp that gives you all the nutrition. In my opinion, their juices are overly sweet. Even thought they are natural, I was consuming over 100 grams of sugar per day during cleanse. I personally prefer more green over fruits. By the end of second day, I was having sore throat from consuming too much sugar. Service: I've been to this location twice. If you are lucky, you will get some really good customer service. If you are unlucky like me for the second time, you will run into sales that are not so knowledgeable when assisting you. Bottom line: I will do the one day cleanse to ease out my digestive system, but not 3 days. My body cannot handle it. I love me some Pressed. I'm usually not into sweet vegetable juices - it feels so against the laws of nature! However, Pressed's 1.5 Greens juice (kale, spinach, romaine, parsley, cucumber, celery, lemon and lime) caters purely to folks like me. The juice is a bit sour and tarty with no sweetness whatsoever - it's delicious! I also love how Pressed Juicery has holiday themed drinks (Spiced almond is delicious) and a loyalty program (1 free drink per 10 drinks purchased). It's actually quite a bit more reasonable than other comparable juice spots (ahem, Juice Shop a block away). Each greens juice is around $6.50/ bottle. This is NOT a juice bar. All that this is, is a glorified yet lackluster store front with one refrigerator holding pre-made juices. There is nowhere to sit either, you must leave after purchase. You walk in and essentially choose a pre-made juice off of the menu, then the clerk opens the refrigerator, hands it to you then takes your payment. That's it as all of the juices are pre-made, off-site! Yes, the juices are cold pressed and made "fresh" daily off-site (Google search, "cold pressed juice") but most of their juices have extensive fillers like pre-pre-juiced cucumber or apples which is then added to the fresh cold pressed vegetables during the juicing process at their off-site location. I know this because the clerk told me so and since I juice myself at home I can instantly tell after one sip. None of the juices are made on-site or in front of you like at a juice bar. read more
