Super Bowl 60 Edition: On Super Bowl week the weather in San Francisco was warm so I decided to grab a cold one on ice. Although there are some good bars in Russian Hill there is also a place to grab a non alcoholic beverage such as Matcha and Boba. Its a good refreshing drink to have on a Winter with sun. This place with ice drinks is located near Broadway ( not in Seattle) on Polk street which serves some fruit tea drinks which are native to Taiwan and it's called Tea Spoon. On a Super Bowl stroll wandering in San Francisco this Boba shop place is one of my favorites and it's located in Russian Hill. They serve everything from Ube Vietnamese coffee to Tiramisu lattes. They serve sweet and the sour in SF. I had to try the Matcha Royale- Strawberry with a splash of mango. The drink was colorful with bright red strawberry and Matcha green. It was not too sweet and the strawberry was a bit sweet and the splash of mango made it tasty. The ceremonial matcha was smooth and just right for Don Juan de la Matcha. I also had to try the red velvet cake. It was a little sweet but delicious. Overall a good place to get a cold boba on ice in San Francisco for any occasion including the Super Bowl. I've been coming here regularly and honestly love this spot. The drinks are always delicious, creative, and consistently well made, which is why I keep coming back. That said, I had a really off experience with a recent Uber Eats order on Friday, March 27. The drinks had a strong perfumy scent on the outside of the plastic cup, almost like someone handling them was wearing heavy fragrance. It was noticeable enough that I could smell it every time I took a sip, which made it pretty unpleasant. I'm not sure what caused it, but in food service, strong fragrances can transfer to packaging and affect the experience. Just wanted to flag it because it's not something I've experienced here before, and I'd hate for it to become a recurring issue. Still a fan overall, but hoping this gets addressed. read more

We were in the neighborhood and I wanted something refreshing to drink. This teaspoon spot was clean and bright with a few tables. I ordered a popular drink, a Guava Sunset @ 25% sweetness through their kiosk. The drink was done quickly and I really didn't have to interact with anyone besides the person handing me the drink. I think it was a bit sweet without turning it upside down to mix it. But as I used my straw to mix it, it tasted better. Good guava flavor and pretty to drink too! 4/5 read more

While I've tried many different locations, this was the first time I tried the Teaspoon SF location. Their menu is the same as the other locations, and it was nicely decorated with a tree and lights for the holiday season. For the 15 minutes that my friends and I were there, there was a consistent stream of people coming in and out. I ordered their Thai Milk Tea with boba. It was nicely balanced and had a strong black-tea flavor. After mixing it, the texture was smooth and cremy, and the boba was okay. My friend tried one of their warm Jasmine teas, and it was also quite delicious. The location of this boba shop is convenient, as it is located next to many shops and stores in this bustling area of SF (Russian Hill). I would recommend this Teaspoon location! read more

I've been on a boba kick lately, so I decided to stop by for a drink with my coworker. I ordered the drink on their website for pickup to ensure that it'll be ready by the time we arrived. The place was empty when we got there around 12:30pm, but I did notice quite a few drink orders ready to be picked up. The place is not that big but there are seats available. I wasn't sure what to order but ultimately decided on the silky mango since it's something I've never tried. I opted for oat milk (extra $1) since I'm lactose. The drink was sooo good! Teaspoon is always a great and reliable spot for a quick boba fix. This specific location is quite small, with only 1-2 tables for seating, but the surrounding area is nice for walking around with your drink. My friend and I tried their limited Cosmic Series: Starlight Sesame and Ube Astra. The Ube Astra is a coconut-infused ube blend layered with milk, honey boba, and crème brulée foam. While it was good, I didn't find it particularly special. It's what you'd expect from an ube drink, but I appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet. On the other hand, the Starlight Sesame--a roasted hojicha latte topped with crème brulée foam and black sesame dust--was absolutely delicious and quite addicting. I might be biased because black sesame is one of my favorite flavors, but Starlight Sesame deserves a permanent spot on their regular menu! I went here on a Saturday around 3:50pm and there was a short wait. This boba shop is a bit on the smaller side, but they still had a few small tables available when I went. I ordered the Dirty Ube and also the Silky Mango drinks! The drinks I got here are so pretty! I love the layered look of the drinks here and the boba pieces are soft and chewy. The Dirty Ube drink seemed very unique to me with it's coconut infused ube, organic coffee, and organic milk and it still tasted good too! The Silky Mango is a must for me too since mangoes are my favorite fruit. I'd recommend this place! They have other locations too, but I know this location also sells a variety of boba, fruity drinks, coffee, and even snacks which I thought was cool. I've only visited the store outside of busy hours so I can't speak to how crowded it gets, but when it is empty inside the service is incredibly fast. There is limited seating inside and the chairs are rather crowded so I don't recommend dining in. Protip: if you plan on ordering from Teaspoon stores regularly, order using their app to earn points towards a discount. Also, get the flamingo when it's in season during the summer. I always order less sweet and it's typically so sweet that I can only ever drink a little bit of it before feeling sick. I don't care for the liquid ice cream taste of their drinks. The last drink I tried was the violet ube special, which tasted overwhelming like super sweet cereal milk. Overall I really like the flavor and texture of their boba itself, but that's about it. They are also a bit more expensive than my usual high end boba places. My last order here a few days ago was $8.80 before tax and tip, over $10 after. The pearls consistently have a gummy bear bounce and are sweetened. Sweetness scale is also as expected - often 75% will do it for me. - Service here is hit or miss. It's never been anything great though. Sometimes you'll be helped right away, and other times the employees seem to be interested in anything other than you. Rated 3 stars because there is ZERO customization here. If it's not on the menu, you can't order it. Sure, they've got the ingredients to do it, but they won't. Usually they won't let you subtract toppings from menu items or omit an ingredient - which is super strange, especially considering other Teaspoon locations do it no problem. I suspect it's something to do with the management. One time I ordered on the touchpad and then asked the employee if they've got a bathroom... and the dude looked at me blankly and said "Uhh the restroom is for customers only." Maybe if he hadn't been looking at his phone and actually interacted with me for the order he would have noticed. - Decor is nice but that's hardly the point at a walk-in boba spot like this. My friends and I (group of 5) were in Japantown for dinner and were craving boba afterwards, and thankfully this place popped up in our search for places nearby! After a short drive over, we struggled a bit to find parking but were able to find a few spots on Pacific Ave, a block away. When we entered the shop, an unkept woman in a blanket suddenly came in and quickly snatched a drink off a counter and left without saying a word. It was very odd.
