We came, we ate, we conquered (Trivia.) I've heard they've discontinued Tuesday trivia since, but we had a good time when we went. Food was half price for girls that night, a really great deal. I ordered the sweet potato fries and pickle fries and both were surprisingly tasty- for sure a notch above typical bar food. The drink menu offers a nice variety of beer and cocktails. I selected a local craft beer and did not regret that decision. Our waitress was very sweet and patient while we all figured out a complicated check-splitting situation. Overall, it was a fun time in a laid back atmosphere. Trivia or not, I'd consider a repeat visit. read more

First time trying the press room pub after they reopened with new management. They had a good selection of beer and the cocktail menu was great. I wanted to try them all. The limited food menu was good. I'm sure they will add more. I ordered the poutine for $11 which isn't too bad, but it was smaller that I would have hoped for. Pros: lots of fun events like trivia and rock bingo, half off food for ladies on Tuesdays. New beers on tap all the time, great for large parties, staff is always super friendly. Parking! It's tight and they really squeeze cars in but yay for not having to park in the street especially at night. Cons: menu recently got chopped in half. It's still decent for bar food but I miss the pizzas and grilled cheese as an option. With the events, you usually win gift cards. However, with the check out system the wait staff is using now (a hand held card reader/receipt printer thing) it's impossible to actually use them properly. My group won a bunch of $5 ones. I had a $5 beer taken off mine last time which was fine and worked out, but it doesn't always work out that way when we order. read more

Highly disappointed in the service we received tonight. My wife ordered a veggie burger with provolone. The bartender took the one order, but didn't come back for the rest of the party. DO NOT COME HERE WITH A GROUP. They do not accommodate separate checks. As a food service veteran if 20+ years, I can tell you this is just plain laziness. I work someplace where we go out in groups of 10 or more multiple times a month. I suggested this place because I had come once before and had a decent time and we were looking for a place to replace J Ryan's. This isn't it. We won't be back because you can't split checks and you can't split the bill across multiple cards. There's an ATM, but it has a $3 charge and bar ATM's are notorious for skimmers. Nothing kills an evening like 15 people trying to decipher a bill, adding up tip and tax. Nothing kills a tip like drunk people doing math. The food is here is fine, but not good enough to overcome the inability to easily split checks. Why does the buffalo sandwich come with cheddar and not blue cheese? Why are they "cheese bites" and not "cheese curds"? This was my second visit in 2 months and both times they didn't have cider on draft for their Moscow mule that's on the menu. They'll sell you a regular mule for an extra 50 cents. In the future, this place is a pass. read more

Great food and atmosphere. This place bleeds SU Orange! We've eaten here for lunch several times and there are all sorts of great menu items. I decided to host my wife's 40th birthday party here as well. Tom and his team were responsive and out together and absolutely great package for us. I recommend them for a drop in meal and a beer and also highly recommend them for an event. read more

I really liked this place. The management, servers, and bartenders were top notch, there was a nice selection of beers, and the food wasn't bad either. Alas yesterday one of the partners (fellow named "Horn") had a screaming meltdown in the parking lot and then took it inside. Customers thought the manager was trying to calm an unruly drunk, but as it turns out this was one of the owners, berating management and staff right in the lounge in front of customers. Witnesses say the general manager walked out after remarking that he couldn't be associated with such unprofessionalism. All the servers and bartenders left with him. By evening the bar was being manned by a guy who seemed never to have been behind a bar before, and nobody was training him. Table service appeared to have been suspended. Mr. Horn was also there, expressing no remorse. Like I said, it was a great place as long as management were able to keep a lid on this guy's antics (touching female staff, eating from customers' plates, going barefoot in the kitchen), but it looks like that's all over now. Came to the press room pub for the first time today and I have to say I don't think I will be returning . For starters we weren't greeted when we came in . Then I had an issue with their atm . It was empty went to bar to ask about was rudely told to hang on . We decided to still give it a chance and proceeded to order are drinks . The waitress was not friendly at all . We got are drinks then decided we wanted to try their poutine, so I ask the bartender if she can add it to are bill and she snaps at me that she doesn't have a card on file and until she gets it I can't have anything as if I was avoiding her, not once did she ask for payment or if I wanted to keep my tab opened or closed but had the nerve to snap at me as if I was some child trying g to dine and dash . Due to her rudeness I quickly handed her my card that I never had an issue giving to her in the first place and said to close it out . I'm sorry but due to the way I was treading I will not give them a cent more of my hard earned money . At least when she's working . Stopped in here for dinner after the wait at Dinosaur BBQ was too long. Place could be really cool with the history of the building and name, but seems to be confused on whether they are a news-themed pub or just a mediocre sports bar. The waitress was not very attentive or friendly. Our appetizer was small, and you could tell it was microwaved because it was freezing cold in the middle when you bit into it. We got burgers for the main course. The patty was not very flavorful or juicy and the buns where so small that the burger was too messy to eat halfway into it. When we asked for the check or waitress told us she didn't even realize we had gotten our food yet. Really shows the attention to detail this staff has... Will not be going again. Just another example of something that could be so good in Syracuse, but is just done so poorly. read more

PRP has a fun industrial-chic atmosphere with a great beer list and menu that makes you want to linger. Wings are good, sandwiches are delicious and presentation is fun- condiments are served in jiggers. Great place to watch a game, tie one on and Uber back in the morning for your car. read more

I work at a restaurant so I do understand that sometimes places can be short staffed and run into issues and I don't like writing bad reviews but this was my 4th time trying out the press room and my 4th terrible experience. We got there and it wasn't busy yet and we still had to wait 10-15 mins to get a drink the next time we were waiting over 20 mins and again still wasn't busy yet. Then the bartenders acted like they didn't want to be there at all and acted like we were bothering them anytime we ordered a drink and also would blatantly try to not make eye contact with us, I've never seen 4 people behind a bar actively ignoring customers, which only grew worse as the crowd got larger. I again normally don't make poor reviews but being the 4th time I've tried coming here and each time having terrible service. On top of the service being terrible we were also over charged astronomically, for 4 people to barely get one drink every hour our tab somehow reflected much more and we weren't provided an itemized receipt. The entire experience was just very frustrating and then when we got our tabs and saw how high they were we were all just in shock. I don't recommend going here if you're looking for quick service or an accurate tab. We did order food which I will say was good but not enough to bring me back. read more

This is one of my favorite places to grab a burger, there's always special burgers with amazing toppings that are to die for. The french fries and sweet potato fries are so good and you can really taste the freshness of everything. Hands down, they make the best beef on Di Lauro around! And I don't normally like potato chips, but their homemade chips are excellent. They have a decent lineup of beers on tap and cocktails. It's not usually too loud, even when bands are playing, so you can still have conversations with your friends. This may not be true while a game is on though (I've walked in on the tail end of a game, and the TV was blaring). I've gone after work and been told that there weren't any happy hour specials, but I've also gone while specials are going on, so I'm not sure what the deal is there. But I do know that I would go more often if they had a good, consistent happy hour! read more

What a great addition to downtown. Love the inside "industrial" design that still has great ambiance and feel. Huge TVs everywhere to catch whatever game you need. The bartenders were friendly. Tried calamari (the spicy marinara is the highlight) pizza (similar to pastabilities so obviously good) and wings (crispy, hot actually spicy.) My favorite part about this place is the Shuffleboard!! I've been regularly visiting here for months now, since the new owner took over. I followed the chef here from Faegans so needless to say the food is outstanding. We've had a few waitresses, the ones that stand out are Cheryl, Hannah and Kaylee. All sweet, professional and extremely helpful. The drinks are made/served well and we enjoy Danielle and Trevor. I know finding help right now in the food industry is difficult. The only complaint we have is with their bartender with the purple hair. She's unprofessional and obnoxiously loud. Good place to catch a game, be it Syracuse or one of the pro-sports. It's quite spacious inside and allows folks to spread out. When we visited over the winter they had several NFL games on as well as a live band. They offered quite a varied beer selection, and although we didn't eat, their menu had some interesting offerings. They do also have a gaming area off to the side, so I would imagine that kids are welcome. Plenty of parking nearby too. read more

Watch out for your credit cards at this place. The staff has no problem helping themselves to a bigger tip. Our waitress added more than double the tip written on the credit card receipt, noticed a day later when the transaction posted. This was resolved with a visit back to talk to the manager to correct the amount. In hindsight, should've asked for the full refund of tip back because this is completely unethical. Obviously will not be returning, nor any of my family members that were with us there. read more

Pressroom pub is a really great space. Wide open with plenty of seating. Nice game room. But there were unfortunately not nearly enough bartenders on staff when I went. It was packed and everyone was waiting forever for a drink. The bartenders were nice, which helped some. Also, closing at midnight was a big damper on the night. Maybe there's a good reason for a pub not staying open until 2? Cocktails were well made. Solid beer selection. Didn't get a chance to try the food, which a lot of people seem to rave about. I'd like to come back sometime and give it another try on a less busy night. Might change my mind on it. Overall, I think they've got some work to do as a new bar in town. read more

Stumbled upon this place while waiting for a Dinosaur BBQ table (1hr wait). Decided to find a place, sit and have a drink. The PressRoom was a 2 min walk and what a surprise!! We sat at a table away from the crowd and due to COVID had to order some food with our drinks. Decided on a chicken wing each (we were a party of 4), didn't want to ruin our dinner plans. To our surprise the Chef came and delivered several "samples" of his specialities. Wings, sweet potato fries, chicken tenders, pretzel bites, and regular fries...let's just say OMG, all delicious!! He gave us all our own servings of each too...so much food. I'm not saying everyone will get the same experience, but the food and service was top notch! This was my first restaurant while visiting Syracuse. They have a decent rotating beer selection and a full bar with nothing missing. I had the hot Buffalo wings ( that ended up coming with garlic mixed in). These were great! They also have French fries that the only way I can explain them is to tell you to try them. They are Arby's curly fries that have been magnified about 5 times.... And they are tasty. The servers were very helpful and courteous and never let you go without a drink. Stopped by after golf as they offered a discount to our league as an incentive. I parked ten feet from the door in the pay lot, 5 bucks. My partner found a spot on the street for free. The atmosphere was great, the service was over the top. The cutest nicest waitress met us at the door and said we could sit anywhere we wanted. They had a good crowd but had plenty of help, sat right down and were helped right away. I got the AuJus sandwich on DiLauro roll, was delicious, came quickly, and was under 10 bucks, as is the 9 oz burger. We were served well and our drinks never sat empty. Great hang! read more

I wanted this place to be better, but after going two times - it is OK but not worth going out of your way for IMHO. The beer selection is ok, the food is ok, but that is it. There was a band there the first time we went and the space was not nearly big enough for the volume they were playing at. The next time we sat outside in case a band was scheduled and we did not realize it. Unfortunately there was a patron sitting at a table near by that knew almost everything in the world, had an opinion on everything or answers to all the world's problems. His volume rivaled the band that was there last time. He also obviously had way too much to drink. Not the fault of the bar per se, but perhaps the waitress who was bringing his drinks could have alerted management that maybe it was time for Plato to go.
