I'd gone here semi-regularly as a teenager, preparing me for high expectations--and the vegetable stromboli did provide a Proustian moment. The biscotti and tiramisu, while very good, weren't _quite_ as amazing. The biscotti were fresh but not astounding. I still recommend the chocolate dipped cannolis, but as November is upon us, I have to remind everyone that Presti's personal sized pumpkin pies are precisely the splurge for the self-loving needed to DEAL with the upset of seasonal climate change. Now that I know to avoid the cold food items (all entirely unremarkable and lacking in hearty flavor e.g. caprese salad just hard small tomatoes, bland mozzarella balls, and small shreds of basil which may as well not exist thus leading to a spectacularly bland caprese salad), I've come to appreciate the deliciousness of their tender rum soaked Rum Baba cake ball thing and their tiramisu and absolutely chocolatey decadent mousse. Basically order from the case on the far left with the top shelf bakery items and skip the other stuff and you'll come away satisfied! Th lunch we had was pot pie. It's not your traditional flavor. It's got curry flavor which I wasn't expecting. It wasn't heated up properly. Basically I had a bite and that was it. I came to Presti's Bakery during my stay at Ohio, and it's probably my favorite part of little Italy. It's shockingly busy after dinnertime because everyone wants to have a snack after their actual dinner. Be prepared to grab a ticket, and wait in a line for over several minutes if you come during popular times of the day. Also, parking sucks anywhere at Little Italy. Their cannolis are delicious, and should be considered a heavy snack. The amaretto lobster tails were kinda okay. Don't get a lobster tail if you're older and have issues with your teeth because you can truly hear the crunch that resounds out when you bite into it. The second time I went before lunchtime, it wasn't busy. I ordered a chocolate mousse, and said it'd be a to-go order. So the guy across the counter came me a takeout container. Later my companion and I decided that we should eat inside the café. I'm an environmental friendly person, so I took the plastic takeout container back and apologetically asked for a plate instead. Well the guy gave me a stare down and scolded me saying that I was at fault because I didn't ask for a plate earlier. He still gave me a plate in a huff though. Dang dude, I already apologized and it's not skin off your back to give me a freaking plate. I'm not sure if I'd recommend this bakery. As other reviews have stated, the most important thing you should know when going to Presti's (outside of the fact that you should, absolutley, go!) is that you NEED. TO. TAKE. A. NUMBER. I can't tell you how many times it's been a busy day and I've seen frustrated newbies stand in line, only to realize that the line is actually a haphazard blob of folks chattering away while they wait for their number to be called. Ok, now that that's out of the way, let's move on to the reason that you're at Presti's, which is the food. Here are a few of my favorites: - Pesto or sundried tortellini. You can't go wrong with either - maybe even ask for a mix! And definitely ask for it heated and eat it there. Cheesy, gooey, and filling. - Sausage and spinach stromboli. The sausage is finely ground so my "bite constructors" out there will be especially thrilled to hear that each bite is as delicious as the last. Make sure you get it with a side of red sauce. - Carrot cake. You wouldn't guess that at an Italian bakery I'd recommend the carrot cake, and in fact when my best friend did the same to me I scoffed at her and ordered tiramisu (which is also great). But the carrot cake here is outstanding. They don't always have it so if you see it, get it. It's moist, flavorful, and the icing is not cloyingly sweet. You'll thank me later. - Cookie assortment. There are tons of cookies to choose from and they're priced by weight. The pricing is so reasonable its hard not to walk away with large boxes each time. My favorites are: pignoli, raspberry linzer, butter cookies, and apricot kolachy. I've been coming to Presti's since I was an undergrad at CWRU 15 years ago. Holy pastries Batman! Oh my goodness! Talk about some amazing mouth goodies, I'm so grateful that as a newbie to the area, a colleague recommended Presti's to me today. I had no idea what to expect and was blown away. I'm gonna start by saying that the pecan roll was truly one of the most delicious things I've eaten in my life. Truly. I am already daydreaming of getting back and ordering it again. I'm ashamed that I don't remember the names of the other things that I ordered as I'm not very familiar with Italian desserts. The pine nut cookies (pagnoli?) we're also frickin' delicious. I could've easily devoured 10 of them. The other pastry (flaky puff pastry layers with lemony, maybe clove and orange? Then a couple of friends picked some up and shared, and, I want to go even more. I had a sticky bun: pecans on top, doughy sweet bun, big, tasty, sticky, yum. Not the best one I've ever had, but pretty darn good. There were other options in the box that looked just as tasty, but I had been jonesing for a pecan roll and this worked nicely. I spoke to corey* on the phone and they kindly helped me order 3 dozen cookies for the next morning. When I arrived I was greeted with smiles and attentiveness, which is not always common during the last two years. The bakery was clean, cozy, and smelled wonderful. The caselines were packed with beautiful desserts and pastries. It was truly like I was back in Florence grabbing a snack. Bravo! I really love the food here. The flavors are amazing. There is a large variety of choices deli style from entrees to deserts. The staff makes me laugh. They are not necessarily the friendliest but they remind me of Seinfeld with the various characters and so I actually enjoy the personalities. Just don't take their rush personally. There is always a line to the door and it's not easy trying to take care of the customers as fast as they come for the food here. Normally I would give this a 5 stars. The only reason I can't is that for some reason, my gut is sensitive to something that is being used in the food. If it was a one time thing thenbi wouldn't say anything but it happened nthreeb try imes over a month and I cannot go back no matter how much I love the food. Mamma mia. It's in the beautiful old Little Italy neighborhood of East Cleveland, and in many ways is the heart of the neighborhood.
