I went here with a friend, and everything started out fine. The waitress was nice, and there wasn't anything to complain about. I got my side salad quickly, and my friend's meal came out quickly as well. She got a BBQ Potato and loved it. I ordered steak tips with gooey fries. When my meal came out, I noticed that the bacon on the gooey fries was a very light color--like it hadn't been cooked. I picked it up, and it was cold. I asked the waitress about it, and she offered to bring me out another order without the bacon. I was 100% okay with that, and all was fine. Then the owner, Robby came up to our table and asked how the food was. I told him about the bacon situation, and he told me that that's just how it was. I told him I understood but still would prefer to have the new fries without the bacon (they had already scraped the others off of my plate). He proceeded to insist that that's how the bacon was supposed to be to the point of me feeling uncomfortable. After I got the new fries, the cheese was still cold. This used to be one of my favorite places in Troy, which is why I decided to stop in while I was in town from Nashville for graduation. I won't be back. read more

I ate here tonight after my daughters soccer game and was a little skeptical about it being in the gas station but I was pleasantly surprised!! The service was outstanding and the staff was so nice. The food was great! I got a cheddar cheese burger. The meat was great and the fries were seasoned great! My daughter got the kids chicken fingers with a backed potato. She couldn't stop eating the potato and the chicken was hand breaded! So good!! My mom got the steak tips with mash potatoes and said they steak was seasoned and cooked perfect! Overall this was a great experience! If you go to Troy and don't want a fast food chain, try this place out! Don't let the gas station turn you away! read more

We absolutely loved eating dinner here! Preston's was recommended to us by our hotel and it hit the spot! The wait staff was very friendly and efficient and our dinner came our piping hot. The ribeye, steak tips are amazing and the sides were delicious (fried okra, gooey potatoes, sweet and baked potatoes). The burger patty WAS bigger than the bun and cooked to perfection. This is a hidden treasure! My steak tips were perfectly cooked and flavored. The wood flame may have a lot to do with that....mouthwatering! All 8 of my family dining would tell you the same. The atmosphere is not that appealing being in a fast food type building attached to a gas station but the steaks are pretty good. I only gave 2 stars because of the terrible service. We had to flag down the waitress when we needed something and she never once checked on us or refilled our beverages. We've been a few times and the service has never been great but this time was the worst and reminded us of why we don't go often at all even though the food is pretty good. read more

If you are in a hurry, this might not be the place for you. If you want one of the best burgers you have ever tasted, pull on over to the gas station, which houses Prestons. I went on previous reviews coming home from Montgomery, and again am glad I listened! This place is to the left of a gas station, well hidden with a banner out front. A large room with minimal décor, about 10 booths and several tables, one wall being server area. When you open the door, you are immediately wrapped in a delicious aroma of hardwood smoke, a clue this is going to be yummy! Apparently this place is a bar too, as there was a Karoake sign, and they do carry beer, wine and all liquor, with several house drinks on menu.The server was young, the owner bringing the beer. There was a mix up on the drink order, but when brought to his attention, the guy was apologetic and fixed it immediately. A little training might be in order, as hovering seems to be the mainstay here, the service tending to be overly attentive! Yes, a thing does exist, this is a small town joint where everyone knows each other by name, so maybe that's just the mannerism! I ordered the regular cheeseburger, well. T got a bacon cheese, and we both tried the homemade onion rings. As others have mentioned, the food took a while. A long while, as we were only table in ordering/eating stage of meal. The owner explained that they use real fire, not a gas grill pumping out millions of BTU's. It was worth the wait. The burger had to be an inch thick, cooked perfectly to order. The burger had a wonderful seasoning on it, garlicky, oniony, backyard with your bestie crust, a 90-10 ration of beef to bun! It was a handful on both our parts, T's having 2 thick slices of bacon bringing her sandwich to 2 inches.....huge!!! They are hand pattied, very lean and flavorful, one of the top burgers I have ever tasted. The onion rings are a thing poems are written over!! Thick slices of what I think was Vidalia onion, a crust of a meal and flour and season, a perfect marriage of salty and sweet! Perfection. I was stuffed, but a road trip breaks the rules, so I opted for a dessert. It happens that some locals had called earlier and ordered a special coconut pie that is not on the menu, but they do offer 10 desserts! This pie had the thin, moist crust that ream pies need, thick and overflowing with coconut and a wonderful custardy base. The topping was an actual merengue, baked until brown, no cool whip imitation stuff here. The next time you are south of Troy on 231, and a craving a great burger, give these guys a try. Awesome place. I ordered wings for the SEC champion game yesterday. I had no problems with the order. It was fresh, hot and delicious!!!

Almost didn't find it at first. It's right next to a gas station that kind of hides it. Ordered the ribeye medium rare. It was cooked perfect. Seasoning was just right. I always ask for steak sauce when I go out because most places really know how to ruin a steak. Ate the whole steak without even breaking the seal on the sauce bottle. Outside of my home cooked steak, that's only happened twice in my entire life. Always save some for my dog but it was REAL hard to this time. Wife ordered steak tips, sweet potatoes, corn nuggets and a side of grilled shrimp. She said everything was delicious. Music playing on sound system was just the right volume level and the genre was right up my alley. Service was spot on and the owner personally came by and checked up on everyone. Super nice guy. Will have to make another trip but will probably go to try his wife's location in Luverne next. If you're in the area, definitely give them a try. You won't regret it. read more

When coming to Troy, I didn't know many people and decided to meet up with some people I had met on Bumble BFF. This place exceeded my expectations! The food and staff were amazing. Had a great experience! I ordered the bbq sandwich, which I later found out was handmade by the owner himself. Needless to say, it was delicious. My boyfriend ordered the wings and really enjoyed them also. We want to come back to try the steak and the shrimp, because the owner said they are the best items on the menu.
