To be fully honest, this was the main purpose of my visit to Whidbey (for at least 2 out of the 3…read moretimes I've visited so far). Praised as the "Best Pie Place" in Seattle, I had to see for myself what their pies were like. Situated in Langley, its a small storefront that is connected to a similarly sized cafe. In front there are some parking spots that usually aren't full. They sell pies by the slice, whole pies, and there are even frozen whole pie options available in the freezer. There is complimentary water but not much seating options. The pies are baked daily I believe BUT if you have the chance to get one of the freshly baked pies (only been on the shelf an hour or so), you'll get some of the most beautiful crust experiences. All 3 times I've been I've reached for the Marionberry pie and every single time it's been a hit for whoever I end up bringing here. They have gluten free options for the pies as well but there is no guarantee that there would be a gluten free option for every pie-- I could be wrong on that, I would recommend calling in advance. A wonderful little pie store for a lovely little town, I would definitely come back again! The first time I asked the person behind the counter about the flavor profile of their Marionberry and their seasonal flavor, they were super helpful and descriptive. I saw that they now sell their pies through retailers now which would let me have their pies without having to travel as far. Love the pie here and love the ambiance of this small store!

I swung by the small downtown shop expecting big things, and Whidbey Pie certainly looks the part:…read morea compact, friendly storefront selling whole pies and slices in classic flavors (apple, blueberry, mixed berry, and strawberry-rhubarb). I ordered a slice of apple pie; the staff kindly offered to warm it up, which was a thoughtful touch and appreciated on a cool island afternoon. The slice arrived warm and comforting -- flaky crust, tender apple filling, and a pleasant cinnamon note. It wasn't a showstopper for me and felt a little overhyped compared with the glowing word-of-mouth, but it was a solid, satisfying pie slice that hits the nostalgic notes you want from a bakery apple pie. If you're touring downtown and want a convenient, friendly spot for pie by the slice (or to take a whole pie home), Whidbey Pie is worth a stop. If you expect an unforgettable culinary revelation, temper expectations -- it's reliably good rather than transcendent.

Perhaps more importantly, the pies. OMG the pies. Home made, perfect balance between fruit and sugar, and on the Marion berry pie, a perfect crumble crust. These are the kind of home-made pies your mom, or her mom make, and you know you're lucky to enjoy. Awesome!

I come for the chili and pie. Both are delicious. I add on sour cream and cheese with Fritos to my chili and get a bowl. It's enough to fill me up for two meals. But for most a bowl is nice and hearty to fill you up. A cup will want you craving for more. The Marion berry pie is absolutely delicious. A bit on the pricy side but that's just the economy inflating everything. I would say it's worth it. The Berrys are nice and tart and the crust and crumb are buttery goodness. I always eat this pie while I'm driving and regret not getting two slices. I got the Bedford ginger beer and it was pretty tasty. Overall, if I'm ever in the area and even if I'm 1.5 hours away I come here. Get yourself some pie and chili.

We visited specifically to order a sweet corn latte, a drink which we've never had before and were interested in trying. Sweet Corn Latte, Iced 20oz ($7) - Surprisingly sweetness adjustments are allowed on this drink. The drink itself has a nice mellow corn aroma and a balanced milky flavor. It isn't too sweet. There's some fresh corn mixed in that's not that sweet compared to most canned sweet corn. There's stabilized whipped cream sweet on top studded with corn and then sprinkled with cocoa powder for some color. We asked to upgrade to 20oz but didn't get charged any more. Not sure how that works! (4/5) The drink probably has better presentation if ordered for dine-in rather than to-go given that the cap they give crushes the whipped cream. Photos from other Yelpers indicate that they have domed lids but for some reason they gave us a flat lid. K Cafe Dabang serves some pretty tasty drinks. We shop at the H-Mart around once a month, so it makes sense to return to try some more sweets. Bathrooms: Two individual rooms, one for men, one for women.

I thought the items we grabbed were excessively sweet. Keeping an open mind that they offer a larger variety of pastries and goods I didn't try but my visit felt just average. While not overly impressed, I can appreciate a solid spot with fresh donuts and pastries managing high traffic. Line tends to be long but moves at a moderate speed, as the employees are open to chatting. Large Butterhorn - excessively sweet to a point where I felt sick of sugar because it's also pretty big. I personally would rather eat a fluffy donut because this felt more like a condensed block of sugar, but seems to be a favorite for others. Might just not be for me. Swedish Almond Pastry - while this was also super sweet, the almond flavor was able to pop out at times. Sliced almonds on top helped sprinkle some extra flavor but were ultimately consumed by the sweetness. A little flakier in texture which helped dissociate with the dense sugar block.
