I just want to compliment the staff for something I witnessed a little bit ago while grabbing a pretzel for my mom on Mother's Day. There were 5 young employees (I would be surprised if 4/5 were out of high school) a gentleman came in to pick up a large order that was placed yesterday (I assume last minute) but the order was not ready. No one at the time was standing around they were all working despite the slow day. I watched the employees discover that it wasn't started and figure out quietly how to resolve it together in the back. Then the front counter person returned to the gentleman and calmly explained the situation. She sincerely apologized and I could tell they were all mortified. He did not accept that apology so she continued as he berated her. He asked repeatedly what happened and "how did this happen!?!" And she calmly explained their mistake (owning it as best they could) despite their obvious embarrassment for the being made by someone who wasn't even there today. They handled it PERFECTLY! The order was in the oven before the guy even knew what was happening. He was a total jerk to them all and acted like his whole day was ruined by the 20 minute delay in getting his pretzels for a high school lock in. I really want to say those kids did a GREAT JOB and also shout out to that guy, whoever he was for being such a TOOL and acting like the world exclusively revolved around him. read more

Really enjoyed my first visit to Pretzel Boys. It was a nice spring day, so I got my pretzel brat and went outside to their picnic table area off to the side of the storefront. Inside there is a stand up bar area where you can eat. There are no tables and chairs in the store. The pretzels were soft and warm with the perfect chewy. They have cheese dipping sauce for extra $$$, but well worth the little extra payment. I'll definitely head back to try some other menu items in the future. read more

The pretzels at Pretzel Boys are very good and they have different kinds of mustards with little to-go containers and you can make as many of them as you like for your pretzels. I do feel like these pretzels are just slightly inferior to Gus' Pretzels though. The skin isn't quite as crispy and pretzely. It's a very nice midday snack though! read more

I read about a new pretzel shop opening up in Des Peres and when I drove by yesterday, I noticed it was open. Who doesn't love soft pretzels? Seriously? They rock! I dropped by today around lunch time and found out they JUST opened this week. Nevertheless, it seemed to be up and running well. It's a small shop in a strip mall on the south side of Manchester Rd east of 270. You walk in and you can see the display case full of yummies! The pretzels are a little bit of a different shape than the standard, yet still recognizable. They have many varieties of "pup", aka pretzel dogs and brats. Some had cheese, etc. I also saw cinnamon sugar pretzels and pretzel bites, along with the original. I think they might be getting more flavors in the future. I ordered the pretzel combo that came with 2 pretzels, cheese for dipping, and a large drink. YUMMM. It was fresh and soft! Here are some quick reasons why I'm giving it 4 stars: - Pretzels didn't have too much salt and weren't greasy like other pretzel places - Dipping cheese (3 flavors, cheddar, american, or jalapeño) was HOMEMADE; none of that nasty faux cheese substitute here! - CHEAP - the combo I mentioned above cost $3.50! Just went back to pretzel Boys again and tried a couple of new things: the bratwurst wrapped in a pretzel was great and also ordered a tray of the nuggets for a fantasy football draft- HUGE hit! One big plus that I like about Pretzel Boys instead of Gus' is that they bake their pretzel FRESH all day long instead of just cooking them in the morning. I also love how cheap they are! Their pretzels were stale, not sure if they were over-cooked or just sitting out for too long, but they were definitely too hard. The place is pretty small so you could see into the cooking/prep area where one of the worker's was singing obnoxiously loud to the song playing over the radio. Great Prezels; probably at the top of my list! I just wish that they had a small table or two, to eat there....This is a kind of place you stop by for a snack while out and about (which I was) and I HATE eating in my car... They serve fountain and bottled beverages (*Coke products), which is a plus. There is a self-serve condiment bar with ketchup, mustard, spicy mustard and 4 oz cups/lids, which is nice. I regret not getting a side of cheese, not that the pretzel needed it, but because I love cheese. I orederd one pretzel with salt and a fountain coke which cost me $3.42 (I believe). These pretzels are making me thirsty! Ok, so I just wanted to quote Seinfeld, but they really did make me thirsty! But in a totally glorious way. The last time I ordered a soft pretzel was at the Duke basketball game with dad a month ago. I entrusted in him the job of bringing me back the perfect little game time treat, and he shows up with some pretzel shaped monstrosity with NO SALT. Um, do you not know me, dad? Your daughter that practically drinks pickle juice from the jar, and salts anything put in front of her? And besides...a pretzel with no salt is no pretzel at all! You might as well toss it in the garbage. So this place made me proud, not over-salting, but definitely not skimping either. I ordered the pretzel bites, which were quite plentiful for around 1.50 or so, and 2 orders of the american cheese dipping sauce (white colored and totally homemade), which were like 1.09 a piece. I tried to order 1 cheddar and 1 american (I like variety), but they were out of the cheddar, and the only other option was jalapeno cheese. Yuck! Not my thing. So I also grabbed some yellow mustard to go, which is on the house. The regular pretzels come out with several connected to each other, and then are torn off, depending on how many you want. I'm not a big fan of this because they look more like pretzels halves, and not the traditional pretzel shape that I have come to love. They come in traditional and cinnamon sugar flavor. They also have "pretzel pups" which are hot dogs and brats, some with cheese and some without, that are wrapped in pretzel buns, kind of like pigs in a blanket. They looked amazing and I would've ordered one of those, if I ate pig. But I don't, so I went with the bites. And I was more than thrilled with them anyway. I have to say that the price is definitely right at this place, minus the soda, which was 2 dollars, a little pricey when your pretzels made me thirsty! But I can't complain too much considering the whole thing cost me 6 dollars. Also, the cheese sauce cups are large, and the american cheese sauce blew my mind. Seriously the best cheese sauce I have ever had. Take note Bridge Tap House! I'm hopeful that they will soon add new flavors (ok just one...hook me up with a gaaahlic pretzel please!) and maybe a pup or two stuffed with something other than pig for us vegetarians (think cheese or veggies!). Blink and you'll miss it but be sure to turn around because Pretzel Boys will not disappoint! Pretzel Boys is a staple at a party we go to yearly that a friend hosts. Their ends are to die for and easy to pop into your mouth. We decided to stop at their location one afternoon and were excited at our options. Its a small but nice location, low key and super friendly staff. I stuck with regular pretzels while my husband got a pretzel brat and they gave him a pretzel while he waited for his brat. He loved it! He said it was just the right taste to satisfy his hunger. I think they will be a part of an upcoming housewarming party we are planning on having. Can't say enough good things about the place. My husband and I can't get enough of this place. We have lived in Kirkwood for 3 years now, but have never tried this place. Well we decided to about 4 weeks ago and we made up for lost time. I think we have eaten there about 2 times a week even bringing a snowman shaped pretzel to out family Christmas party. Yum yum yum! I've heard nothing but good things about Pretzel Boys, so I stopped here during my lunch break to see what all of the fuss was about. It's a tiny shop in a strip mall, super close to West County Mall. I walked in and was immediately greeted with a smile. I took a few minutes to study the menu, and I decided to go with the pretzel bites with jalapeno cheese sauce. Good choice, Stephanie! *pats self on back* The pretzel bites were soft and chewy, with a good amount of salt on them. So doughy! Love. The jalapeno cheese sauce was hot with the tiniest kick (I would have preferred it a little spicier). It paired perfectly with the pretzels. And they definitely give you enough cheese to drown each bite in! Be sure to spin the little twister mat at the counter to try to win a free pretzel. I'm not sure what color you have to land on to win a free pretzel. It's not clear, and there's no signage to explain. I simply spun the wheel, and the cashier said "nice try", and that was pretty much it. Womp womp. Loser! At least she was nice about it. I would definitely come back for more pretzel bites! I love this place! I can't tell you the number of times I've been here, sometimes simple because I'm in the neighborhood and other times I've gone out of my way for a stop. I recently took a dozen of them to a family barbecue and they were the favorite of many...I had no leftovers to take home with me! I prefer the regular softie and like to eat it warm. I'm pretty sure that's when it's the best...although that might be because I'm too impatient to wait. I've not big on condiments, meat, or drinks--so I guess you'll have to check some of the other reviews if those are your areas of interest. I did custom order a large Panda head for my kickball team...and well it looked awesome and I assume it tasted good because when I took it to the game they ate it all before I got any! If you like them on facebook they're frequently doing things where you can win free stuff, and if you sign up for their emails at their website you can get insider info for when they're having deals! Also pick up a frequent customer card and get it punched every time you come in to earn free pretzels and make sure to spin their wheel of pretzel fortune when you're in to see if you can win a free pretzel on that visit! PS In Regards to Jill S's comment--Pretzel Boys pretzels are Philadelphia style, that's the size and shape they're supposed to be. Walking into Pretzel Boys, my initial thought was their name is somewhat of a misnomer. Pretzels are for men. Sports, guns, beer, pretzels. All synonymous with one another. With that being said, I went for a brat wrapped pretzel. The same thing I order at darn near every baseball game. I also coupled that with a cajun chicken pretzel. They both were extraordinary. They have a splendid condiment section with 4 types of mustard: deli, spicy southwest, dijon, & plain. For the sacrilegious, ketchup as well. Anyone that gives Pretzel Boys a bum review is someone I don't want to dine with. You essentially are saying you don't enjoy bread, cheese, or meat. Don't be so picky next time. Love these soft pillows of heavenly goodness. Coming from a lover of Gus's of 42 years, these are the best pretzels I have ever eaten. Can you say addicted. We like stopping in here for a treat. The regular pretzels are soft, warm, chewy and just the right size. We like to get the jalapeno cheese to dip them in. I don't know what it is but they are addictive. I cannot say anything bad.
