I was referred to Preventive by another pest control company actually, and was very impressed with the reviews. I've seen their trucks driving around and they have memorable marketing, too. Everyone I spoke with was very nice, however there was some serious miscommunication. I was told that my appointment was FROM 8am-noon, which seemed probable because it is a rodent inspection, checking all over inside and outside for entry points. When 8:45am rolled around and no one was here, I called to see if everything was okay and was told by a different woman that the appointment would take place somewhere BETWEEN 8AM and Noon, which is not uncommon for a service appointment, but there is a huge difference in using the language FROM and BETWEEN. I was then finally told that the tech would call me with a 30-minute heads-up window. Great. 11:50 arrived and still no call, so I called the office again to see if the tech was still coming. Yes, but was in Deer Park, and we are in Alvin. Oh man. I've already been waiting for 4 hours hours, I can't wait another hour and then also still wait for however long the appointment is, my goodness! They did apologize for the miscommunication and asked if I wanted to reschedule, but that's just not something I can swing again, an all-day affair with insufficient communication. I understand that each appointment takes time and there are delays that happen, but the miscommunication and lack of communication and the extreme delays were just terrible customer service. Their office staff needs to be trained to use the correct terminology to describe what a customer should expect, and techs should be required to give some type of ETA update. At first I thought it was a pretty good company as far as pest control services. But if your contract is expired and you call to cancel it they give you are hard time. They actually signed me up for a new contract without me agreeing to it. I was having to pay for two pest control services. I called to cancel again and had to pay a cancellation fee even thought I tried cancelling before. The lady was rude she was like who are you using I told her and she said well I've never heard of them before with an attitude. I will never use this company again. Preventative Pest Control is great. They guarantee their treatments and will retreat your property if you have ants pop up between bi-monthly treatments. My husband and I used them when we first bought our home. We made the unfortunate choice to discontinue service with them because we saw no insects and figured we could do home maintenance with pesticides from Lowe's. HUGE MISTAKE! We over the last 2 years (same amount of time we were not in service with Preventative) have spent more money with DIY pest control than we would have if we just stayed with Preventative. I mean we didn't have insects for a reason when they were caring for our property. Not only did we have a fire ant infestation but we also ended up getting those Raspberry Crazy ants that will invade your home in hoards. Lucky for us Preventative took us back and we are now in a bug free zone! Our most recent Technician Eric was great. Not only did he treat our home, but taught us what to look for in case the Crazy Ant Army comes back. We will never again break up with Preventative. read more

Found Preventive Pest Control via Groupon. Scheduling was easy and the person taking my call was very sweet. First person to come out did my whole house and backyard (we have a huge backyard) in less than 30 minutes. Kind of quick, but we didn't say much. We still saw spiders, pincher bugs, and little small ants, so we called and got them to come out again. The second person was super sweet, she listened to all of the problems and even set our hair for the little ants. But unfortunately, we still see the same pests appearing. I saw one of their trucks in my neighborhood and had them come out. I had lived in the house for 4 years without a proper pest treatment and I was paying the price. On their initial visit they treated the outside which included brushing away all nests, webs, etc from both porches which was worth the price alone. I have seen a dramatic reduction and even absence of most pests and often see the sign of their treatment with dead insects. I am on a quarterly treatment for $99 which includes outside treatment and inside upon request. They will do spot treatments as needed and leave a bill at door or mail for your convenience. Poor service. I have been using this company for almost one year. I requested the technician provide a barrier of their chemical all the way around my house slab, but I only received a small stream of spraying around my slab with a back pack sprayer the technician had on his back. The width of the stream depends on where the technician has the sprayer nozzle set (my service was evidentially set to small and narrow). The technician missed numerous places and left gaps in the barrier around my slab. I had to point these out to the technician and then he sprayed those areas. I spoke with the Service manager Luke on the phone after receiving the poor service. I explained to him they used a hose sprayer coming from a pump on their truck in the past services I received (5 previous services) and it put out a wide barrier path around my home. He explained using the back pack sprayer doesn't use as much chemical and is how they do their service now. So basically, they have cut back on the amount of chemicals they are using, I am getting a smaller barrier around my slab, but my $74.69 bi-monthly cost did not decrease. lol. You get what you pay for. It's one of the cheapest out there and I seriously have more problems with insects and rodents now than I did before. Their customer service people are so nice but the company's actions are terrible. We paid over 700 dollars for a rodent problem that is still happening. They come out and do the basic but the problem is still there! I've had to buy things out of pocket to try to resolve it. I hate the contract and I'm trying to get out of it because it sucks! The techs don't go out of their way to make sure everything is done. We have to constantly tell them where to go to put poison down. We have two properties with them and it's TERRIBLE! About 3 years ago, we tried every item on store shelves and every Pinterest idea in order to get rid of crazy ants on our front porch and were unsuccessful. We finally called Preventive and they were able to stop the crazy ants within the first treatment. I was so impressed, that I signed up for a contract to have our home serviced every quarter. Best investment ever. Not only do the offer great customer service when you call, but the technicians are also very courteous. They are self-conscious of my time, so they always show up between my appointment time, are always very careful upon entering my home, and the treatment placement so that my dogs are not disturbed. Would put no stars if it was an option. Had a Preventiv representative come to our house when I was out of town. My wife answered the door and felt pressured to sign up through a sales presentation, so she did. Not really their fault. The problem occurs when we didn't get what we paid for. After almost 4 months of service, we were forced to pay an early cancellation fee. We had more bugs and ain't piles in our yard at the end of everything. After sending in pictures and getting empty promises of managers returning our calls and visiting our house personally we canceled. Also, midway through our time with Preventiv our card on file expired. We called to schedule a spray but never got a visit. After a few days we called to see what happened and they told us the card on file had expired...SO WHY NOT TELL US FROM THE BEGINNING!? Just very poor service and customer care. Wouldn't recommend. For the hundreds of dollars I spent for the 3 months of service and the cancellation fee I could've went to Home Depot and been in a better position than I am now. read more

It's unfortunate that I'm having to write this review. I've been with Preventative for several years. A few years ago I developed a seasonal rodent problem in my attic space, at which time the technicians would simply put traps out to catch them. I did finally have them quote for rodent treatment, but they wanted over $700, would only warranty it for a year, and couldn't guarantee that it would resolve the problem, so I declined. I have continued treating the problem case by case. Now, after one of the traps was used, I called them to have a tech come replace it. They initially told me that it would cost over $300, just to put down a trap. After, I made a fuss over the absurdity, they changed it to $10 for three traps. While it may seem like just $10, I think it's ridiculous to pay for something I've been receiving as part of my service for years, besides it being a $0.99 trap (and my peanut butter). So I've canceled my (what was once a every 3 month service to magically a 2 months) service. Loyalty is everything in customer service. The cost to set an occasional trap should not cost extra. After calling around to other pest control companies many include it in their quarterly service. read more

They billed when they did not do a service. The guy would sleep in his truck in front of my house. They were very rude when I demanded a refund for them charging me without doing a service. This happened twice. Both times we were assured they canceled our account and took our credit card off file. The first time it was a lie. I am hoping the second time was not. They would schedule service for one day and not show up or would show up, they would show up at random days. They did not seem to have any clear communication between the office and the service folks. I would not recommend them at all. We also are worried about retaliatory stuff. read more

This is going to be my favorite go to place for my yard, extermination and to rid my home of the rats that have taken up residence here. My technician, Justice, was easy going and went out of his way to explain the process and put me at ease. It's not easy to come to terms with rodents but it is what it is. He looked around outside and secured easy entry points, went up into the attic (it's Houston and it's 100 degrees) set the traps and into the garage to do the same. This is a super friendly company to work with. The salesman, Paul, was out yesterday, evaluated my needs and Justice came out today. No over the top up-selling and scare tactics from Paul. I was scared enough about the rodents. Paul Gave me options and price points that I could handle, Justice came out and bam all we have to do is wait. They are super customer service oriented and I'll see Justice in several days, unless this is an easy catch, for follow-up. Thank you read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND ! Me and my fiancé just bought a house that was not cleaned properly (we didn't find out it had roaches until it was to late). We got a card from preventive pest control that said the monthly payment would be $29 (THAT WAS A LIE), the $29 was for the first month. The regular payment is $75 which the Tech and the phone representative told me would include getting rid of the roaches. The Tech came and did a very quick spray. The roaches never left. When I called they said if the roaches aren't gone in 14 days they would come back out free of charge to re-examine and get rid of the roaches. When I called 14 days later they told me roaches would be and extra $89 one time on top of the $75. By this time I'm pissed because I've been lied to but when I ask how to get out of the contract they say it's a 60% buyout. PLEASE DON'T DO IT to yourself. A Preventive Pest Control REP was walking through our neighborhood and I signed up for a year of service every 3 months. Our first visit was good I guess he treated the inside and out with the basic spray I was told. He informed me that if I didn't see a change by the next visit to let him know and he will change spays to fit our home needs. OK cool, well he left that day and I noticed he never went into the garage so I had him come back out to do the garage about 2 weeks later cause I had to be home. I then informed him of bugs in a room he sprayed again right away at no charge. 3 months had passed no phone call no communication at all and one day I get home and I see a sign on my door informing me that they had been out sprayed and my bill 76 dollars. OK problem, for starters the Receptionist or Sales Rep should have called me and asked me about any updated or has there been any changes since their first visit. So I called them the very next day and informed the receptionist that I need them to come back out because there was no change and I told her what the man had told me. So I asumed they came back out not surestill no phone call. My husband told me to call them and cancel, can't we have a contract. Well 3 months later same thing no phone call no nothing bill left 76 dollars. So once again I called them and told her that they needed to come back out because had she listened to what I requested the first time when I called and told them to call me before they come they would had know that now we have rats in our backyard. So they came out and left a note I assumed they put down traps and bait but we noticed no change. I took that as they didn't leave enough bait to kill them all so we went to HOME DEPOT and bought bait. A few weeks later they were gone. Another 3 months almost time for them to come out. My husband now furious because we have been to HOME DEPOT twice now first to buy rat bait and now to buy Ortho Home Defense which works great and we have used it in the past and it worked better then the spray Preventive Pest Control was using. So I called and told the receptionist the problems and she informed me that when they was suppose to treat for the rats that they didn't because we was not home. THEY WERE IN THE BACK YARD PEOPLE "gate not locked". So now Im pissed she offered a free service from the manager and I refussed and cancelled. But get this the receptionist got mad at me cause I didn't want to take their shity free service. I told her if you free service is anything like your paid service then you can have it.
