Pleasantly surprised. We came for Happy Hour on a Saturday around 5:30 and the staff was so helpful getting us a table in the bar area. I love that they have a very good selection of tequila and other spirits. And their beer was quite tasty. As for the food, what a bargain on Happy Hour. We got the hot chicken sandwich ($9 but no fries), while.messy, was delicious, a smash burger, super tasty, then off Happy Hour, the Oxtail Birria burger, which my husband said was fantastic. We did get some truffle fries that were a little too seasoned and salty for us but everything else was really good. My girlfriend and I had a great time here! The food was really tasty and a bit more elevated than "regular" brewery food. Still perfect for chowing down, all the exciting versions made us try a lot of the menu. Oxtail Birria fries were a standout favorite. First visit to this place after the Vista Fright night. Was drawn in by a person handing out $2 Beers coupons. We got there and found you must buy a beer at regular price$7 to get a subsequent $2 beer. We ordered the carne asada street tacos at $2.50 each. Was in the fine print that was hard to read. The drink list was amazing. like 20 whiskeys etc. Ambiance is good with some outdoor and indoor seating, fairly loud for casual conversation., Drinks came in fast, the Tacos took a long time ~25 min while water provided and refilled. The meat was very dry,. The sauces provided were not great, we all rated the tacos as some of the worst we tried in California. Hopeful the tacos improve someday. I'm giving it a low 4 just for the drink menu and ambiance, and location. The food hopefully has some better selections than what we tried, please get your tacos right for future patrons and better hot sauce selections. read more

No paper napkins here. When asking for extra napkins, they bring you more clothes one. We sat in the bar area and it is very loud. No quiet intimate conversations here. If you are one sensitive to loud noises, we don't recommend. The food was top notch fresh and full of flavor. We had the Oxtail Birria fries, Smash burger and Beer Battered Fish tacos. Our new favorite! We were so looking forward to this place opening and finally made it in spontaneously for happy hour. Can't wait to go back. The space itself is clean, modern, but comfortable. You can hang out here for a long time- comfy seating, great windows. Great beer and wine selection. Gorgeous cocktail options, like violet and St. Germaine. The food is awesome- really fresh, substantial but not heavy. We tried the charred broccolini and the chicken sandwich- both highly recommended! I come to Vista regularly to visit my dad and we decided to give Prey Brewing a try. I was a bit intimidated at first as it looked fancy from the outside and we were starving , just got off a plane and not so fancy. We were greeted with smiles and seated in the lounge area as it was pretty late on a Saturday and the lounge was buzzing. Noah was our server and he was upbeat and really nice. He took our drink order and we ordered the crudo of the day and the bao buns trio. Both were tasty and paired well with our tequila and mezcal cocktails. They were out of the wings unfortunately and he did say they could cook some for us, but it would take awhile due to the process and detail to make them. I really appreciated the honesty and not wanting to short us on the quality - so we will have to try them next time! Mezcal lime dry rub on wings? I am in! I am glad we listened to Noah's advice on the charred broccoli w/ hummus, it was bright and flavorful and a generous portion that helped us balance the rich and amazing smash burger we split. That smash burger is a legit straight up crispy edges nom- nom no -frills, shake what yo' mama gave you burger. Really good. Tried a couple beers too. The IPA was tasty with some fruit forward hops in a west coast style. I got the black rice lager. Either it was the roasted malt extract or maybe a line issue , but it tasted and looked more like a coffee porter to me. I was thinking it would be more of a lighter style lager with a black rice adjunct. Bad on me for not asking, but it was good. I was just full after all that culinary deliciousness and that beer could be a small meal in itself. All and all a great experience at Prey Brewing. Pricing is really reasonable and I always like a shareable menu option. I will recommend to friends, family and industry colleagues to take time to visit this spot. Vista has a new destination eatery, Prey Brewing. I ordered the Classic Burger medium-rare & got exactly what I paid for. It was big, juicy & delicious. The Dark Mexican Lager was delicious & paired nicely with the burger. This is the new destination eatery with its wide offerings of beer, wine, spirits & mixed drinks. It's very trendy. I sat at the bar across from the mixing station. A new female bartender was in training. She was conscientious & deliberate to get the drinks right, which meant a bit slow. Her trainer was patient & told her that she would be up to speed in no time at all. The place is understandably noisy, and carrying on a conversation will be a bit of a challenge. Also, at the entrance (you can see it in one of my photos) there is outside seating with gas flames. On nice nights, which is most of the time in Vista, it is a nice place to eat. It is next to the road, so there is some road noise, but it is a different place to sit and I think quieter than inside. One more thing, the plate is a flat slate. It's different, trendy, but not all that practical. The juice from the burger will run off of the side. I like the place and will return. read more

Menu items are unique but not outrageous. Quality is consistent. New brunch items are delicious. Great for Mother's Day. Prices are reasonable. Family atmosphere, even though half of restaurant is more of a bar. Service was friendly and even though our food did not arrive all at once it was hot. I've been waiting for two years for this damn place to open and it exceeded my expectations. I was a big fan of Justin's brews already but hadn't tried one in a couple of years. So I tried six of the seven on tap. Every beer of every style was absolutely fantastic. You cannot go wrong on the wet side. Ate as much food as I could stomach by myself and that was also amazing. Had the Hamachi Crudo and the Vegan Burger. Both so damn good. But the thing that I've been dreaming about is the house salad. Two other tables who walked in after us were greeted and got orders in. No one came over to our table so I went up to a server and still received no service after. Ok I've been here a few times now and feel like a review is well deserved / needed. Every time I've come I order the crudo which is amazing but I'm always left a bit disappointed about the price and portion. Don't get me wrong it's delicious I just think for $18 you should be getting a bit more on the plate. We have also ordered the bao bun sliders which are all great (they offer 3 varieties). My only issue here is the birria bao you have to pay an extra $4 for consommé. I've never had birria anywhere else where the consommé is an extra charge. Needless to say we forgo ordering it every time and it's kind of a bummer. Highlights though, the staff are all super friendly and attentive. We usually get seated right away. Their drinks and beers are all on point. Ambiance is great, it's a fun place to hang out with good music. They do have a late night menu that we got to order from last night, although we were both full we got some drinks and I have to say I'll be back just to try some of those food items off the late night menu. Take away I think they need to work out their prices and portions a bit still but it's understandable as it's a new spot. We will be back soon! read more

I'm so torn on this place. The food tastes amazing...but the price is just too much for the portion. The service is honestly horrible. Everyone who has ever helped me here was super super nice but it seems like no bartender is assigned to your table so no one comes and checks on you to order because there's no system telling them who's table it is. Ambience is great, drinks are amazing, and the happy hour is SO good. It's crazy how cheap the happy hour prices are for how expensive the normal food is.
