I went to pay for my account and moved to a different unit. We were almost finished and the manAgee came by and told me that we needed to be out soon, I informed her that we are almost done. I told her, my son has one arm and he is going as fast as he can and that he should be down any minute, instead of her understanding, she said, I don't care about your one arm son, I told you that you had one hour and it's up now. It wasn't even 7 pm at this point. She started yelling at me and told me to go up to the storage unit and tell my son that we had to go. Not only did she yell at me, she was cursing at me. I did everything I could to not respond. My son has one use of his arm and he is trying to do the best he could but she wouldn't stop harassing us. I couldn't believe her words, we were making her late to home, we ruined her night, she didn't care about my one arm son, we had 12 hrs today to move this shit, on and on... I honestly can't believe I was nice and didn't say a word, which I think made her more upset but seriously for 4 minutes after 7. I get it but her words were rude and hurtful. I had a great experience here. I just recently rented a space from here for 6 months and had an excellent experience. I, myself, chose this place because of its reviews. Despite a few low reviews, all of which are a few years old, were very good. I asked the staff about this and they are under new management. They were always very friendly and extremely helpful. The manager even personally helped me move out when I needed an extra hand! This place is always very clean and I always felt really safe- a rarity at most storage facilities in the Bay Area. Please please do not use them. Nothing good about the place to accept convenience. Every 6 months they are raising the fees. Their website​e and auto payment is not working and you will keep paying a ​late fee because of their system. They are friendly until you ask something. No garbage they are not letting you use their garbage. ​DO NOT USE THEM you will be suffer if antyhing goes diffrent than they telling you. read more

I had just 2 days to find a place to store a bunch of household items prior to a home remodel. I was originally looking at one in Oakland near my house, but when I arrived it was not what I expected--dark, dingy, difficult to access (second floor, down several long hallways). I decided to take a chance and reserve a space at Price where I could pull my car right up to the storage area. When I arrived the next day, it was even better than I expected. The staff were super helpful, there was a security code in the area leading into the pull-up storage shed, and I was able to unload the van in no time. It would have taken me hours to unload all the boxes to the second-floor storage area in Oakland. It was pricier, but totally worth it for accessibility, safety, and cleanliness. read more

Our experience with Price Self Storage was seamless. The staff was helpful, professional and worked in a timely fashion. I appreciated how the entire transaction happened over the phone or through email. I did go into the office to get the keys, but the staff was sure to follow CDC guidelines and they made me feel comfortable even during this uncomfortable COVID 19 time. As a long time wine aficionado and lover of wine, I don't expect or require everyone around me to be a wine geek. I do however expect business that are in the wine storage business to know some basics about not only wine but proper business practices. Price Self Storage is not only bad at wine storage, they are dishonest business people. Bear with me on this, I know there are some pretty venomous reviews on yelp usually driven by someone that has been "unjustly" treated (at least in their eyes). These reviews are mostly emotional and not fact based. Hopefully this will be the opposite and give some guidance to anyone thinking of storing wine here I really wanted to give these guys a chance as they are close to my home and have a nice underground facility (on the surface). I had my wine in one of their lockers for about a year and over that year have had my rate increase on me twice with no notice. I understand the cost of business increasing, but twice in three months with no forewarning makes no business sense to me at all. When management was asked about this, all they replied was "our contracts are month to month and that is our perogative to raise prices when needed" . Apparently signing you at a low rate and then raising your rent by 20% is their perogative as well. Very shady business practice. On to the storage. I had no issue the first couple of months in the locker but shortly thereafter I noticed when I would go in to get some wine late in the day, their coolers were shut off. granted the storage is underground and a little bit cooler than ground level but I brought in a temp gauge and the temperature was just above 75 degrees in there. I realize this may not sound like a big deal to most of you, but that is significant raise in temperature for storing wine and not the temperature that they "claim" to store wine at. If I wanted to store wine at 75 degrees, I'd just store it at my house. Apparently another shady business practice they use to save money.. I won't bore anyone with the phantom late fees they charge from time to time, their overall deficiency in customer service and the fact that my code didn't work half of the time and I couldn't access the wine when I wanted to. NEEDLESS to say, I would not recommend these guys for wine storage when you are concerned about proper storage and access when you want. I would caution anyone using them for any storage to watch their bill closely for phantom charges and price increases with no notice. read more

Very clean facility which is the only reason I'm not giving 1 star. Friendly acting staff but slow moving and inept. I didn't stay long enough to experience the frequent (more than annual) price increases others have posted about, thankfully. Very antiquated and time consuming processes (e.g., you have to sign contract in person, slowly and painfully, as if you're getting a mortgage?? Same upon exit, you have to physically sign out and of at in person). Unless you're a VERY patient, easygoing person AND have loads of money AND this location is very convenient for you, I would definitely not recommend. read more

Office staff nice enough and the quick and easy reservation access helped me out of a jam some time ago, but in general I felt they lured me in with good rates and incentives and then proceeded to gouge me with price increases, hidden fees (mandatory insurance being one of them) and double penalization for late payments, not that I am without fault there. read more

We never used a storage facility before and have to say this was a happy experience. The staff people are friendly and the place is super clean and neat. They didn't have a ground level unit available when we signed up but they were able to switch us to one before our furniture arrived. This place used to be excellent but has plummeted downhill recently. Stay away unless you want multiple 10-20% rental increases yearly and rude people to deal with. I have been a client for years and when my office sent in a check that was short because of the latest large increase, they slapped a lien and a large late fee on my account. Didn't care that I have been a client for years and they had 90% of the rent sitting there in their hands, short only because of the latest (again, multiple increases yearly) large increase. A good subsurface (basement) storage space for wine, but this is a classic Bait and Switch operation. They started with my walk in wine space at $80 a month, now $350. The last increase was from $200 to $350. If you call to question the pricing, the people in the Walnut Creek office claim they know nothing, and refer you to the headquarters in southern California. Southern California office does not answer the phone, however. This operation continued to raise prices with regularity even in the middle of the deepest housing/rental recession in recent California history. It was pretty clear that they had the raises in rent programmed in. So if you make use of them, be prepared for their Bait and Switch Modus Operandi, which will involve rental increases that you can set your watch to. Now they are advertising the space for $223. They should be confident, since they know they can raise it to $350 in six months. Caveat Emptor!! read more

I just moved to Walnut Creek and this was my first time renting a storage space. The manager made it easy to show me a unit, the facility is the cleanest I've seen since looking into a storage place. Good wine storage facility. Clean underground lockers are secure and temperature controlled. Seemingly a decent option for overflow. HOWEVER...other Yelpers are telling the truth about the Bait & Switch. They have raised the rent twice in the last nine months. I'd appreciate a little more integrity in their business practices. When you look at the costs over a couple of years (and that they're just going to keep springing unexpected price increases) it's cheaper in the long-run to build or expand your own cellar. read more

Clean facility and well kept. Great for wine storage. If you rent a wine locker get ready for them to jam you with frequent increases which is totally unethical. We are in a strong economy and they play pricing games and have no loyalty to existing customers. I found out that after many years I was paying more than a new client renting a locker. I went to another facility and bought a second wine fridge for my place. If you don't care about price they are for you. But paying over 70 a month for a small wine cube that is difficult to access since you have to climb a ladder is a bit over the top. read more

Stay away. Absolute thieves! Highest rates around! I had a unit there for about 7 years. Started out @$175/mo and was told they had a history of "very little to no rate increases" which was a complete fabrication. They have raised the rent EVERY six months even during the recession and refused any discussion or negotiation of rent terms...ended up paying $407/mo. We used Price for several years to store overstock for our store. The facilities were excellent, and service for the most part was excellent also. Two complaints, one minor, and one pretty major. The minor has to do with access hours. There were times when we needed to get in to our storage area when it was not available. The major complaint had to do with pricing. We were hit with an average of 8% price increases about every six months. That was bad enough, but it was always announced with a form letter explaining that they try to keep rates down, but "prices have gone up." In fact, the cost of living index has been static for about three years now, and real estate, which is what they're selling here, has gone down. If I were going to use them again, it would only be with an agreement that they would not raise rates on me. read more

We just got a letter from them saying they have a "philosophy of minimizing the amount and frequency of increases" which is odd considering they have increased our rate four times in two years. Clean units, handy location, but questionable pricing policies and very cumbersome billing system. Initial rate $155/month, three years later $305/month. A nearly 100% increase! Semi-annual rate increases "supported" by identical form letters pointing to efforts to rein in cost increases. Right! When a local rep was asked about the increase, she lamely responded, "Well, we check around regularly and see what other firms are charging." Translation: We see what the market will bear and then we price fix. At least it's a more candid response. I have vacated the unit and will look for alternatives in the future. read more

They provided their own truck & driver for the initial move in. My wife felt safe going to the locker and appreciated they had a system for clients to have easy access to carts.
