Pat and Layla just completed the transformation of my 25 year old master bath. They created a detailed contract with 10% due at the time of signing to reserve my spot in their schedule. Every week, Layla provided an invoice for a % payment plus material costs, which included the actual material receipts. Every day they were on time at 8am, lined their walkway from the front door upstairs to the master bath with floor protectors, cleaned up and reviewed with me what they accomplished, what they planned to do the next day and what items I needed to have purchased for them soon ( lights, fixtures, toilets, cabinets, mirrors). They were helpful in picking up items I purchased from several stores so I didn't have to pay the store for delivery. Because of their history of remodels, they were able to provide suggestions on how to remodel the room. Best experience I have ever had with home maintenance. I sent Pat an email today asking for a rough estimate on a job that I would like to have done (ballpark/rough estimate because as a homeowner, I know my budget and having no idea what the cost is--there's a huge difference between $500 or $3K). Pat promptly sent me back the following: "First, I dont do "ballpark" figures. Second, who are you? Third, if you ware wanting me to do something for you like this then please take the time and make the effort to call me and ask me about it. Good Luck, Pat" In my opinion, this is NO WAY to earn business and it sounds like he doesn't want mine. Given today's technology and since his email address is very easy to find on his website, I assumed email was an acceptable way to communicate. It is hard to find a good, reliable contractor especially when you are planning to remodel the master bathroom in the house where you expect to stay for the next 15 years. We looked at different websites (Yelp, Angie's list etc...) and met and talked to more than 10 contractors but at the end, there was something that was missing or wrong (too expensive, too long to reply to email, too much subcontracting etc...) until we met Pat. We initially scheduled an appointment at 8:00 am and he was right on time, explained us clearly the different difficulties that we may have and provided us with an estimate of amount of time to complete the work (6 weeks). Between our first meeting and the beginning of the work Pat provided us a detailed schedule of the work he is planning to do and was frequently sending us an update of the status of the job that he was doing. He wasn't the cheapest, but we really appreciated the way he was communicating with us for our project. He stopped by two more times to check with us some details that we were worrying about before the beginning of the work. It was also an occasion for us to meet his wife Leyla. At the end, we didn't regret our decision to hire Pat. During the whole time of the project, Pat was always on time, protecting our hardwood floor at the beginning of the day and cleaning it at the end of the day. During the 6 weeks of the project, Pat was always keeping us up to date with the progress of the work and was sending us pictures while we were working. He was perfectly on time and was doing a very good job taking care of all small details. We had some delays but it was only related to other companies that we worked with (countertop, cabinets etc...) and Pat was always here to provide us feedback and recommendation based on his experience. We also appreciated that Pat was dedicated 100% of the remodeling project without subcontracting the work. He was doing a perfect team work with his wife and we really appreciated his dedication and the quality of his work. Another big advantage is that Pat and Leyla were super friendly with our dog and didn't mind having him at home while they were working. For our very first remodeling effort, we were a bit nervous. We called around and found that Pat and Leyla seemed to be the most down-to-Earth and honest, so we decided to move forward... and WOW! We were impressed! Not only were they extremely meticulous (from laying out tile to doing a perfect paint job) but they were CLEAN. When they left each day, they packed up and left minimal materials tucked away. We completely trusted them in our house (with our puppies roaming) during the day while we were at work. I work from home 2-3 days a week, and I could easily join my conference calls without interruption. They were also very quiet considering the work they were doing (and we do not have a large house) Each day we received details and pictures about the days work and the work ahead. We were in the market for a total kitchen remodel and were fortunate to find Pat and Leyla Moody (DBA Priced Right Handyman, 512-820-3020, www.pricedrighthandyman.com). They are a husband-and-wife couple who only work one job at a time. You are their only client they and do not sub-contract out any of their work. My first observation was their punctuality (you could set your watch to when they arrived)! They gave you daily status updates as to what they did, what they were doing, and what they were going to do. After working for the day, they always cleaned up their "work-in process" items so we were always left with a clean kitchen. We were having our sink replaced, so they installed a temporary sink for our use until the permanent sink was delivered and installed. Imagine having a kitchen without a workable sink! They also completed several other items that were not part of the original contract for free! I would describe them as reasonably priced, honest, dependable, and meticulous, true craftsmen of their trade. Even after completing the job and being fully paid, Pat returned to our kitchen to work on an issue that just wasn't up to his standards! We were told they are extremely busy and are oftentimes booked up, but if you can get on their calendar, it will be worth the wait. GREAT JOB!! read more
