In April of this year, I walked downstairs in my home to relax after a very long day. Before I…read morecould sit down, I was horrified to see water leaking through my ceiling and dripping down a wall in the middle of my basement. I then looked into the adjacent bathroom and was heartbroken to see the ceiling of my just painted bathroom sagging with a water "balloon" from the same plumbing catastrophe. I had no recourse other than to poke it with a screwdriver to drain the water into a cooler. The next day I began feverishly searching for a plumber, hopefully one that was independent and reasonably priced. I could find none, so I opted to call a horrendously over priced company called Afford-A-Rooter. They came out and charged me a total of almost $500 to snake a few pipes and take a video of the main. Both the service rep and the office rep were unbelievably arrogant and rude. I asked them for an estimate to replace my old galvanized and cast iron drain pipes, and they quoted me a preposterously large amount to repair only a small section, which I turned down. Over the next several days, I searched very seriously for an independent plumber to help me with my repairs. I looked online extensively, inquired with friends and co-workers, and finally was referred to one person known locally as "John The Plumber" who I contacted. After explaining the job to him, he asked me to take photos of the pipes needing replacement and to email them to him, which I did. He didn't even bother to reply at all. Neither did 3 other companies I left messages with to attempt to get estimates. Finally I had one other large company come out, whose office clerk spoke to me like I was a naive child, and they too gave me an utterly absurd estimate to do a partial job, which I also refused. At least a full week after the initial disaster, I looked on yelp again and found Eric with Everyday Solutions. I called him and he responded within a day (on a weekend) and said he could come over to do an estimate early the following week. Upon meeting Eric, I immediately felt uplifted, as it was the first time in all of my dealings with plumbers that I could tell I was in the presence of someone who was sincerely willing to help me and had more in mind than serving his own or his company's selfish, greedy interests. He provided me with an estimate later that day. I accepted his bid and we scheduled the work to be done in a few different sessions, as it was quite extensive, and I was no longer in an urgent crisis. As Eric is not affiliated with any large, corporate plumbing companies, he is quite busy and his services are in demand. Therefore he had to finish some existing work before he could begin repairing my plumbing. But after what I went through with all those other companies, and the education I received along the way (they all have fleets of vehicles, uniforms, and tons of overhead which must be factored into the price, and all of the plumbers work on commission, so it is in their interest to charge you the highest price possible), I didn't mind waiting a few more days to get started. Eric's first day of work in my home was wonderful. He is a friendly, genuine, decent man who actually takes pleasure in helping people. He came over and got right to work on my plumbing issues. He took the time to do the job right, and was by far the most personable, respectful, kind plumbing and repair professional I have ever had in my home. Literally the complete opposite of the two reps from the two large plumbing companies who came over, both of whom had arrogant attitudes and talked to me as if I was an uneducated idiot who should feel fortunate that they were taking the time to rip me off. The second leg of the job required Eric to acquire specialty parts to replace, old outdated sections of cast iron piping, including a four way connector which isn't made anymore. Therefore there was some additional waiting while Eric took the time to find and gather the correct parts (all of which he paid for up front and billed me for later - try to find a big company who will do that for you). And, there was at least one incidence of rescheduling on Eric's part, due to his being so busy giving the same level of service to other clients. I learned patience along the way, and after the first day of Eric doing first rate repairs and spending the time needed to do the job right without overcharging me, I had come to realize what a gem I had in finding this very nice and rare service professional. This second phase of the job required two sessions to complete, and Eric put in an enormous amount of work to finish a very involved job - a huge amount of work for one person. The final bill I got was extremely reasonable and was very, very fair for a job of this magnitude. I did have one issue with a leak after all was said and done, and Eric came right over when I notified him of this, and fixed it perfectly and completely, all with a smile!

Sonny looked at the job and gave me a fair price. It actually happened that Sonny had enough time to do the job right away. (That's how small the job was) Sonny was efficient, tidy, and did a good job. I am very happy. Sonny is a hard worker, has a good attitude, and will talk with you while working. Unlike some other handymen who are kinda stand off-ish. I will be hiring Sonny again to do other small jobs around the house.

I found Sonny Vigil on the internet, reviewed what people said about him and from my vantage point as a real estate broker and small business owner, picked him out of the crowd. I wanted somebody I could trust and somebody I could recommend to my clients if they need a referral. The regular handyman I had used over the years had gone out of business. Sonny put together a HomeStyles portable kitchen island for me. The package alone weighed 115 pounds. No way could I have put this together myself. He struggled with it, found a few problems with the instructions (what else is new?), showed me the problems along the way, and together we decided on simple fixes that would make it work. And work he did. He did a fabulous job. He also hung a very heavy mirror exactly where I wanted it, fastened it with a gorilla wall molly that he supplied (I had my own hanger, but he preferred his own that he knew would work). Measured and marked everything and made sure it was level. Perfect job! He fastened storage units to the inside of cupboard doors so that I had a place to put wax paper/plastic wrap/aluminum foil in one and pan and pot lids in another. Made sure everything fit. Did a great job. He moved a heavy file cabinet so I could reach my shredder. Then he cleaned up everything, carried the trash out to the trash dumpster and brought up the shipping manifest for the kitchen island that I had forgotten to take from the package . All these things were household fixes beyond my reach. He did every bit the job I was hoping for and charged me a reasonable fee after eyeballing the job when he got here. He brought his wife along (it was Sunday) and we chatted about a lot of things we had in common all the while Sonny worked. I was thrilled with his work. I would hire Sonny again in a New York minute, and would recommend him to anyone.

Literally I've had at least two other plumbers come and then straight out refuse to even consider working on my home. So that right there is amazing that Ray is willing to give it a go. He took his time when he visited and ensured he explained what he was looking at and what was going on. He gave me options and didn't pressure me to get all the work done right away. And again, when I asked him if he could connect my fridge to a water line, he looked at the situation and said yes - when another plumber told me no (even though I knew it had to be possible). I will definitely have Ray come back in the spring to work on my ac/heating system and to hook up that fridge! He fixed my toilet really quickly and it runs SO NICELY now!

Among them, Travis has fixed leaks, replaced outdoor spigots, serviced tankless and traditional hot water heaters, replaced sinks/faucets, installed a complete Halo water filtration system, replaced irrigation back-flow valves, serviced/replaced our sump pump, fixed valves on our main line, installed new toilets in all bathrooms...the list goes on. He has always left our house's plumbing better than he found it and we appreciate the expertise he has as a Master Plumber which noticeably distinguishes him from other plumbers. Now I have to go back and do all their work. How they can begin a project and expose a homeowner to all sorts of repercussions by the state is beyond me. Be alarmed by the cheap bids. They're cheap because they don't follow the laws. The homeowner is liable for proper asbestos disposal / cleanup, fines, a potential lien on your property, and god forbid someone get hurt on the job. A quick trip to your city's building division will verify the legitimacy of any contractor. I encourage this due diligence. Non-tax paying cheaters are all these guys are.

Even though we are satisfied with the quality of work, we are unsatisfied with the amount of work…read morecompleted. We were very disappointed Incepector Handyman Jim arrived without the necessary materials (drywall, texturing material and shower tile adhesive) to do the jobs my husband discussed with him over the phone. My husband sent him pictures and dimensions immediately after their phone conversation. We went to Home Depot to get these materials, unfortunately Home Depot doesn't stock the same window sill material Jim said we needed and that he'd provide to repair the most important fix (cracked window sill) we hired him for. We are unsatisfied with the amount of work done for what we paid. Incepector Handyman Jim charged us $75 per man per hour, for 2 men we paid $150/hour. For $1,150, we expected more work to be completed. When my husband told this to Jim, Jim said, "You got all the work you paid for and we didn't milk the clock." We paid for 15 man hours and this is what we got: - 6 small areas of repaired and textured drywall (no paint) along with touching up several scuffed areas. - Re-positioned a toilet paper holder and towel hook, - Applied caulk to an external window sill (ladder required), and, - Installed 5 pieces of interior door trim. Jim also rounded up the last work hour by 15 minutes, for an extra $37.50. When my husband described the window sill repair job on the phone to Jim, Jim explained the type of wood we needed as well as the specific store he would pick it up from; therefore, we expected him to have the wood with him. My husband also told Jim it was a 2nd floor window as shown in the photos we sent him. When Incepector Handyman Jim arrived, it appeared he had no intention of fixing the window sill because he explained he doesn't like to work in the hot sun so he wouldn't fix it until the fall. He also said he doesn't like to work from a ladder, so he wants us to rent scaffolding for him. Since we were very concerned with the crack in the window sill and potential water damage, they made a temporary fix by filling the crack with caulk. Had we known how slow they worked, it would have been better for us to pay by the job. Had we known Jim doesn't do ladders and hot sun, we would have hired someone else because the most important repair was not accomplished.

He also claimed to have diagnosed the problem, but never scoped the line and did not have the proper equipment to complete the job. Based on my experience, I would not recommend any plumbing services from an inexperienced technician. I strongly suggest making sure going with another contractor that has the proper equipment and experience to fully diagnose and complete the job. As a precaution, if you encounter or get him as a contractor do not pay an upfront service fee until he can fully diagnose and have the equipment on the day of service as it seems he'll come out and wont return for days without completing the job!
