This is a long overdue review from my visit the end of January 2020. Jay was our host and he was amazing!!! He was fun, engaging, informative, welcoming, and sincere. The wine is spectacular too! Pride Mountain was the highlight of our tasting experience in Napa! Our guide Quique was incredibly knowledgeable about the industry as a whole, lighthearted and well versed in the wide variety of wine available to taste in the caves. Visited in a group of 5 girls for my bachelorette party. I wanted to do a smaller family owned winery in addition to the usual touristy ones, and I found this one on a blog. This was without a doubt, the best experience and everyone in the group's favorite winery! Our guide took us on a private tour of the grounds and the wine caves, and it was super cool to try the wine directly from the barrel! All the wine we tried was delicious. He took great care of us and even gave us a very thoughtful and generous surprise at the end of the tour. The ambiance is beautiful and quiet, and I had no idea the winery was located in both Napa and Sonoma counties! 1000% recommend this place, we would definitely go back! read more

If you're wondering whether you should add Pride to your list of wineries to visit in Napa, the answer is absolutely, 120% yes. Paul was the best winery tasting and tour guide we've ever had in the USA, and we've been to a lot of wineries across the country. He catered the tour and information he provided to his audience (an engineer and I who both know a decent amount about our wine) and kept is laughing for the whole two hours. The wines themselves were exceptional (we walked away with three). The land is beautiful with places to picnic while overlooking the vineyards. If you have time to kill, go for a walk through the vineyards and take it all in. Pride has been a highlight of our time in Napa and we'll be telling friends and family about it for years to come! read more

Pride Mountain is by far one of the coolest tastings we've ever done. It's a smaller vineyard on the county line between Napa and Sonoma. The property is beautiful as well. We had an excellent host, Nicki, and did our small group tasting in the wine caves. It was fun walking around the caves where the wine was actually aging and being worked on by their winemaking team. We also got to do a barrel tasting of their most recent cab which was super exciting. The wines were great and we shipped a few bottles home to enjoy. Would definitely visit again! Note for people who get carsick, the vineyard is pretty far up the mountain and is a very curvy drive. Well worth the drive though! read more

My friend who works in the wine industry recommended a wine tasting at Pride Vineyard and I'm so glad I took his advice! My friend and I had a lovely picnic on the mountaintop area and enjoyed their Viognier with a chilled ice bucket and amazing views. Jay was our guide and sincere, fun, informative and talked to us about the history of the vineyard, how the vines are made, and the legacy of the family owners. I learned so much about the winemaking process and region in the 90 minutes we spent together! As for the wine, I most enjoyed the Syrah, Merlot, and Meritage (half the wines from our tasting)! Overall, plan ahead and book an tasting appointment at Pride for the views, warm hospitality, and elegant wines. We even briefly met the winemaker, Sally Johnson and she was walking through our tasting at one point. I left with their 2017 Meritage and 2018 Merlot. Since they focus on quality over quantity, these wines are a bit pricey. You'll come as a guest and be treated like family! Overall, you don't have to be a wine connoisseur to come to Pride. It's an approachable team with elegant and approachable wines. Ask for Jay who was our fantastic host. read more

Third winery of the tip was PRIDE, we were referred to them by Jennifer of Fisher Vineyard. Our host was Paul Smith, this guy was very funny from the start, and he is very engaging and kept everyone in the small group involved. The tour lasted well over one hour, we cover history, winemaking, drank good wine the whole time and even created our own blend at some point. The tasting here far exceeded my expectations. Actually I didn't know much about Pride, but now I can't wait to return. It is right on the Napa/Sonoma border up on a peak. We tasted mostly Chardonnay, Cabernet, and then other Bordeaux wines. The tasting was very special and included a tour of the caves and a barrel tasting. This was our last stop on our trip to Napa and it was a great way to end our vacation! We were paired with a wonderful group of four women for our tasting, one of whom is a member and had been many times and knew our guide Krista. It was such a fun and engaging tour and she was both entertaining and informative! We went through the cellars first and did some barrel tasting, and then back up to the main property for the main tasting and some accompanying snacks (macrona almonds, meats, cheese). The wines themselves are amazing and the portions with the tastings very generous. I wish we had bought some wines, but with it being our last stop we felt we had already ordered enough. We had a driver on this day, which we were glad for as its definitely up a mountain and could be a bit stressful if you are unfamiliar with the area i imagine. read more

When the wineries re-opened for tastings, my husband, brother-in-law and sister-in-law and I made a dash for Napa. We scheduled a Summit Experience tasting appointment here and Andy hosted us and our kids. It was a great tour - a brief walk outside and and explanation about how the winery sits on two counties. Then we went into the caves and into a room for the wine tasting. Andy was a great host who was patient and great at entertaining questions from the kids. The wines are great - we left with a few bottles of the 2017 Merlot, 2017 Cab, and 2018 Chardonnay. They are located at the top of the mountain, so give yourself time to get up there. The address on Yelp also takes you to their mailbox- so call before you leave if you want to input the tasting room address into your GPS. read more

Probably the most fun wine tasting we had in the area. Our host, I believe Quiqui, was incredibly friendly and shared tons of insights into each of the wines as well as funny anecdotes and stories. The wines themselves were great and the pours were generous as we toured the facilities and overlooked the gorgeous vineyards. I was wine tasting all through Sonoma's Alexander Valley when a friend of mine (wine industry dude) said that we needed to go to Pride Mountain Winery, located on the top of Spring Mountain because it's one of his favorite wines. The ride up the mountain revealed all the burn scars from the fires that happened in 2017 (maybe 2018, 2020 as well). But the top of the mountain reveals beautifully manicured vineyards with spectacular views of Napa Valley and a line in the parking lot that divides Napa and Sonoma counties. Cold blustery wind blows in from the ocean and up-and-over Spring Mountain and into Napa Valley. We had a lovely host who started us out with a Chardonnay in the tasting room as she explained the geography and showed the various textures of terroir. Then onto the caves where we had one red after another. I don't particularly like merlot and the first one we had was a blend. However, the second merlot was 100% that came from the barrel and "it was good". Each corner we turned the reds got better-and-better. Then she poured a 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon that took me completely by surprise! Rich and expressive of dark fruit like a well rounded cab should be it felt silky and sexy on the tongue. "Yeah, it's that good!" I couldn't believe that it was a 2019! It's clear that the winemaker took the best of the lot and bottled it. Pride Mountain Winery feels true to itself in making the best wines that their vineyards have to offer. My very big mistake was only buying six bottles of cab. Looks like I'll need to go back. read more

Did the research on Pride Mountain Winery before heading to Napa, CA and I have to say that Pride Mountain gets a 5 Star on the views alone.  You're on top of this mountain and the views are spectacular.  Even though they say this winery is a little hair-raising to get to, I am going to have to say not really, it wasn't that bad at all.  I would have to say that some of the streets of San Francisco are far worse than the drive up this mountain. With this winery we got the whole tour with our reservations.  You start off in a small room a little off of the main lobby for a bit of history and your first wine taste.  You hold on to that glass while you head over to the caves where you will get more history and wine to taste and it keeps getting better and better.  Their wines are great, unfortunately for my wife is that they don't have a huge selection of sweet wines, but fortunately for me, she had me kill her remaining backwash from her reds.  This place is worth the trip up the mountain, so give it a try if in the area.  It's a bit off the beaten path, but worth it. The only thing I wish this winery did was offer some of their local cheese and bread with their wine tasting like the Inglenook Winery did during their tastings. read more

We had an amazing time here and loved the wine. The drive is a bit windy as it's off the beaten path, but once you get here the 360 views and grounds are gorgeous. You do need an appointment, the tour is 90 minutes, which was a nice change from a lot of places. We learned about the family, winemaking and explored the cave, of course tasting along the way, including from barrels. Mark was a great guide! It's a great place for a picnic, a hike and during the summer they make pizza. Bonus points, they are exceptionally dog-friendly, our pup got lots of attention and locally made treats from one of the organizations they work with. read more

Definitely worth the drive from the valley. Had a tasting with the delightful Paul on Saturday, who kept the whole group laughing with never a dull moment. Was fascinating to hear about the challenges and benefits of operating across county lines. The cave tour was such an awesome plus. The wines were very good, though some a bit more pricey than expected; I left with a viognier that was fruity but not too fruity. Appointments fill fast, so reserve early. Oh, and arrive 30 minutes early to picnic on the top of the hill! I'll definitely return and highly recommend to all. read more

Located atop a mountaintop, pride mountain vineyards straddles the Napa/Sonoma country line. This spot reigns as my favorite tour in my winery tour career haha. The drive is windy, so beware. And bring a designated driver for the ride down. We made reservations a few days ahead of time. We were greeted with a beautiful Chardonnay. The tour was fun from the start. Our guide was extremely personable with many jokes along the way. We got to try a number of different types of wine leading into one of their specialties...the bold, delicious, reserve Cab. We were taken through the caves and got to do a side by side comparison with some wine from their barrels. Super fun and definitely very giving. $30/pp unless you purchase 2 bottles of wine in which the tasting fee is waved. They aren't pushy whatsoever to join their wine club. In fact, we, as a group, brought it up first. It was a no brainer. Instantly joined and can't wait for our first shipment. Definitely worth the drive and time. 5 stars for pride and a must go if you're out wine tasting. Come here first though! read more

Tour wise, this was the best tour we went on, and the tastings were good too. It was VERY informative, even for wine drinkers. Not boring where you felt like you were at a museum and the tour guide was older than the statues but it was a relaxed tour with very knowledgeable guides who loved sharing wine and knowledge. I visited this amazing place over a month ago and I'm still thinking about it. I felt compelled to leave a review because I had such a great time (and so did my whole group) at Pride Mountain. Easily my favorite wine tour/tour guide/vineyard views. I'm just echoing the many reviews but it's well deserved. From a practical standpoint, if you can get a ride up there that's ideal bc it's a very winding uphill journey that had my cotravelers doubting where the heck I was taking them (fiancée was a fussing). But once you're there the views are second to none. Also, make a reservation, you need one. The tasting/tour is only $30 which is pretty remarkable for Napa/Sonoma bc this actually includes a real 1hr+ tour with someone who is passionate/extremely knowledgeable about the vineyard and wines. It also includes very impressive and numerous pours, enough that I had to start dumping some glasses (it hurt my soul) so I could drive back down. Our tour guide, Paul, was incredible. As others have said, he's super witty, friendly, sarcastic, and a genuine guy who really took the experience to the next level. We can't wait to go back and maybe next time do the $90 game of thrones-esque cave room tasting bc I have no doubt it will be worth it. My wife, my mother-in-law, daughter (kid friendly place!) and I live in the area and decided to have an impromptu wine tasting up at Pride Mountain Vineyards. We reached out and we're immediately contacted back by Jessica, their events manager, who was able to secure us a reservation. We couldn't have been happier with our experience!!! The wines (of course) were absolutely spot on and delicious, but it was the hospitality of Jessica and the rest of the team that really made the day so special. The tour of their beautiful caves was so memorable and being able to interact and meet several other members of the staff including Stella their vineyard dog made the experience over the top. Living in the area we are lucky to have opportunities to go and visit amazing places such as PMV and meet amazing people such as Jessica and Tim who were running the show today. Do you have to drive up a mountain? Yes. Is it worth it ? Yes. Pride was an amazing experience. We enjoyed beautiful views and delicious wine. We went on a tour of the property with our guide Paul. He was awesome and kept us laughing the whole time. There is a picnic area to enjoy lunch after the tour, so I recommend bringing snacks especially if you do not have a driver and to get back down. I hate having to dish out one star reviews, but sadly this place deserves it because our tasting was a disaster from start to finish. Let me be clear that this is not simply a case of "sour grapes" (ha, get it?) I'm a very experienced wine taster, serious wine connoisseur & collector, and I have been visiting the Napa Valley 3 times per year for the last 12 years. I'm no Robert Parker, but I know what I'm talking about when it comes to wine. After over a decade of visits, I wanted to try a new place. Yelpers, you guys let me down in a BIG way here. There is no way Pride deserves the 4+ star rating. I'm truly flabbergasted by that! The drive up to Pride was lovely. Lots of windy roads that curved up the mountain. I should've known something wouldn't be quite right when I looked up the driving directions on Pride's website. Even the tone of their written directions was sort of snarky and unwelcoming! We had called ahead and reserved a wine tasting for 2 without a tour (they request you make an appointment for tasting). We arrived about 5 minutes early and headed into the tasting room. At first we weren't certain that we were in the right place. There was a dual tasting bar with a large group hovered around one bar and then an empty bar with a young woman looking down and fiddling with a computer / register or something. We stood there for a few minutes and after receiving no greeting or welcome, we went over to the girl at the empty bar. She seemed very bothered by us when we politely asked if we were in the right place and that we were here for our 12:45 appointment. Things started to go downhill rapidly from this point. She typed a few things on the computer and said "you are signed up for the 12:45 tour and tasting, your group will be leaving shortly." We said we thought we'd specified that we wanted to reserve a quick tasting only (winery tours are a dime a dozen -- everybody thinks theirs is special but they are truly all the same and are BORING after you've done dozens before). She was VERY snarky and said "no, you need to do the tour." We politely asked again if we could just do a quick tasting and that we would be very low maintenance (which is so true, we are super easy going). She continued to argue with us and kept repeating herself over and over: "the grounds are lovely, the tour is so informative, you'll get to go in the caves," etc. etc. I realize at this point we should've turned around and left but it was a long, tedious drive up the mountain and we really did want to try these wines that Yelpers raved about. BIG MISTAKE on our part. Finally she relented & said she could lead our tasting (oh joy). Let me stress that the place was EMPTY except for the 8 people waiting to take the tour at 12:45. We were the only people in the entire tasting room. As usual, we asked to share our tasting. This is NOT because we are "cheap," it's just something we do in wine country. We aren't in wine country to get drunk, we are there to taste, swirl, sniff, spit & savor. I hate wasting food and wine and since we mostly taste and dump, it makes sense for the winery to allow sharing too! We have shared more than 100 tastings and nowhere else has anybody ever had an issue with this. Lo and behold, this lady did. First she said "you'll want your own glass." Thanks for presuming to know what I want and don't want. After we politely (polite to a FAULT I might add) said no, we'd really prefer just one tasting and one glass, she hit her limit. "That's what the dump bucket is for," she sneered. I am still angry at myself for not leaving at this point. So fine, we each did our own tasting. It was a stupid thing to do because this girl gave the smallest pours I have ever seen! Again, I am NOT in wine country to get drunk, but there was so little wine in our glasses that we didn't have enough for TWO sips! There was barely enough to swirl! I took the first bit in my mouth, stopped, then wanted to go in for the second taste, but there wasn't enough wine in there for a second sip! I NEVER complain about tasting pours but this was RIDICULOUS. To make everything even worse, she told us NOTHING about the wines. I don't know if she just wasn't well trained or if she didn't care. She said she'd just moved back home from NY & was a family member of the winemaking family! What?! She's horribly suited for the hospitality industry. Tasting fee is $20 per person, waived with a 1 bottle purchase. My husband purchased 2 bottles of their awful Cabernet at $70 per bottle while I was in the restroom and I wanted to smack him. I would've just paid the $40 and run out of there. Their wines are OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced. The wines were so high in alcohol that they masked the fruit & reminded me of drinking straight, cheap vodka. Taste buds are subjective, but this stuff was bad. The Merlot was TRULY awful; it's one of the worst wines I think I've ever tasted anywhere (and they wanted $60 for it). Skip this place. read more

I survived the ride to Pride - yes the trek up to their winery was that crazy, and they even have t-shirts that state it! We came to Pride Mountain Vineyards to meet some friends for wine tasting. Tastings and tours are by appointment only, so be sure to plan accordingly. Tastings are $10 and includes a trip to the caves for barrel tasting. If you purchase wine, your tasting fee is waived. I lost track of the number of tastings, but there were at least seven! Pride Mountain primarily produces red wines, a few whites, but not blushes/rose (at least not for sale). Fun fact: their winery has two licenses for production; Sonoma and Napa counties, so their bottle labels show the percentage of each county. Even though getting to this winery is a pain, the view from their estate itself it worth the trip. Bring a picnic basket and have a meal in their picnic grounds. They said on a clear day you can see the seven surrounding counties! read more

We were celebrating our 29th Wedding Anniversary in Napa and Brittany from Auberge du Soleil arranged for us to do wine tasting here. Kudos to Brittany! The drive up here was just beautiful. The views of Pride Mountains property was stunning. We arrived early for our appointment and decided to look around. We just happened to enter what I believe was the staff lounge. I'm not so sure we were suppose to be in there but the plaques we saw on their walls were quite impressive. Pride Mountain wines were requested by Michele Obama, Tony Blair, Oscar de La Renta and many others were on those impressive plaques. What impressed me even more was that impressive list was not even mentioned on our tour. Jay gave us our tour and he let the wine speak for itself. The knowledge and details he shared with us was mind boggling. I enjoyed every bit of our wine and tour. Jay's personality, enthusiasm and hospitality was a great part of our enjoyment. We purchased their sweetest wines because it's what we love. Their Viognier and Mistelle de Viognier. When planning a weekend trip out to Napa with my friends, I wanted to find something a little removed from Route 29 and the Silverado Trail just to see what gems might be out there. The description for Pride Mountain made it seem like a cool place to check out, so I went ahead and made an appointment (which is the only way you'll get a tasting and/or a tour). So glad I chose Pride Mountain! While my friends may have questioned my decision while we drove up the windy mountain path to reach the winery at the top, they had no questions on the way down. We all had a great time at one of the more unique wineries in Napa Valley. For one thing, the mountain top gives a view quite unlike most views you can see from other wineries. For another, the high elevation gives the wine a different taste that my uncultured taste buds cannot quite pick up on yet (but they eventually will I'm sure). The tour and tasting was probably the best I've received in Napa Valley so far, made even better by the fact that it only cost us $10. They took us through the caves, gave us wine directly from the barrels, and - because it all tours and tastings needed reservations - it felt very personable. If I'm ever bringing a guest through Napa Valley and don't feel any compelling desire to bring them to the main wineries along Route 29, I'll definitely make another stop at Pride Mountain. read more
