What an amazing experience. We need a complete overhaul of all our carpeting thanks to some pretty crappy tenants that stopped paying. We were prepping the house for sale and we were under a tight deadline. David was a savior. He came in at half the cost of the first estimate we got (whihc we knew was very high) and he was able to knock it out faster than he had said. Updating my review just to address Mr. Dick's response. When I met Mr. Dick - I did not tell him Home Depot had just given me a bunch of free stuff. Lol. I met him over 10 years ago when HD flooded my basement. They sent a restoration company out to see if carpet could be salvaged. The restoration company had a relationship with him & sent him out. The restoration company actually recommended that the carpet be replaced, but because I am NOT in the habit of gouging anyone - and I really liked my original carpet (its pretty cool - made of recycled plastic) I opted to just have the carpet cleaned. So I actually did the opposite of trying to take advantage of Home Depot & they've never done anything to my kitchen - so I honestly have no idea what he's referring to. I think I said it in my original review - I liked Mr. Dick and was impressed enough with him that I held on to his contact info for over a decade because I knew I wanted to use his services when I finally opted to replace the 25+ year old carpeting upstairs. And regarding the rush. I even looked back at our texts & emails to confirm how this played out. I said - and I quote "I would like to have it done by Christmas - BUT if you can't make it happen - IT WILL NOT BE A DEAL BREAKER." He said, and I quote, "That shouldn't be a problem." And I never said I was going to have people in town for the holiday. I said I was going home (to visit my parents for Christmas). My Mother is over 75 years old & my Father had serious health issues. They don't travel - or I guess I should say they didn't travel - since he passed away 6 months after this event. Yet when I told Mr. Dick that he seemed rushed and now that I wasn't going to be in Darien for such an extended period - I was fine with waiting until after Christmas, he caught an attitude and said that he had "moved jobs around to make this happen" and wanted to proceed with doing it before Christmas. Which I felt, honestly, was a pretty crappy thing to say because, if, in fact, it was true (the statement about cancelling and rescheduling jobs to accommodate me), I 100% NEVER asked him to do so. In fact, he took 2 1/2 weeks to even contact me about the install - and I wasn't freaking out - so if I was in that much of a rush - I would have said so when he finally deigned to return my call. He says he busted his butt and only got defensive and combative when I tried to file a claim - but he got upset with me DURING the install - I couldn't say anything to him without him getting upset. Like when I said something to him about putting furniture in the porcelain bathtub. And about putting furniture out on the patio when I had advised him NOT to put furniture out there because the newly installed roof was leaking badly - and was covered in faux grass where Gizmo sometimes pottied. Maybe if I had a nicer home, or lived in more affluent area, Mr. Dick would have treated my home and my belongings with a little more care. Also - they did work until after midnight because they were 6 hours late. And because they put a thousand seams in the hallway. All that seaming takes a lot of time. Regarding my dog urinating on the carpet and me pouring cleansers on it. When Mr. Dick finally came back to make the repair - I showed him the stuff I had sprayed on TWO spots Gizmo had marked. He advised me not to use the spray and showed me the correct way to clean any spots on the carpet. That was it. So I have no idea why he's lying / exaggerating there. I actually ordered a heavy duty vinyl runner to place over the carpet so Gizmo's occasional marking wouldn't be a problem. He says PayPal took his money back. This simply isn't true. They denied my claim. Also - in his response - he says he got a chargeback but then he goes on to SAY they denied my claim because it was false. So which is it? About the carpet discrepancy. The carpet installer who came to my house, measured my carpet and he was the first person to suggest that not enough carpet had been ordered - hence the additional seams in the hallway. The carpet company confirmed it. Finally - regarding what he says the carpet company said about me. I could go into detail - but it would be pointless and tacky. And for all I know - they did tell him that - who knows? But I literally contacted them one time, based on what Mr. Jarvis advised. Mr. Jarvis took care of everything after that. If memory serves - each time we communicated after that (once via telephone and twice via email) - it was because the company contacted me. They even sent a representative from a third-party company to inspect the carpet. I worked in Claims for 8 years. When a company pays a 'nuisance claim' - they do NOT admit guilt. They tell you your claim could not be substantiated but say they are issuing a 'good faith' or goodwill payment. In the correspondence they sent to me, they outright said they were accepting the claim because the inspection revealed that the carpet had shear marks. read more

David and team had quite the challenge at a repair job for me. My linoleum was bubbled up. They did their best to repair just that spot, but it was discovered that some of the subfloor was damaged due to a water leak from some time ago due to a refrigerator leak. David's team managed to replace the bad subfloor and then patch the area with leftover flooring I had saved. I was told this would not be perfect due, but I'm over the moon pleased. I could have had to completely replace ALL the flooring. David and his team was honest with me, kept in constant touch as to progress, and treated me fairly. I definitly will use them again when I have a flooring need. read more

Totally surprised by all the positive reviews. I have contacted this business numerous times to get a quote. Once last year, never heard back. I went with another company. This year I contacted them again by email. No response. I called and left a voice mail message, got an automated text, to which I replied. Nothing further. But I was so impressed by all the positive reviews I kept trying. Finally contacted them thru Yelp. I did get a response in 2 days, asking for more information, which I gladly supplied. Again, no response! Maybe he's too busy to bother quoting me a 1700 sq ft residential hardwood install. Edited to add: Not sure what your comment about wanting multiple quotes is about. The owner (David) brought both wood samples and carpet samples to the my house and I could not be happier with what I choose. Because I was having old hard woods removed and doing carpet and hard woods in the entire house David said it would be 7 days and that is exactly what it took. The installers could not have been nicer. Very hard workers, very polite and respectful of all of our furnishings and also very happy to answer any question my husband and I had. David did mention that he might exceed his quote for preparation work for floors that previously had carpet and where not level. That cost approximately $2,000 over the quote but even though you cannot see the leveling material now the wood is completed it was the best thing that we ever did. What a great experience. They do not know what they are doing. PrideNMine installed carpet upstairs and a what should have been a variable length wood floor in the downstairs family room, kitchen, dining room, hallway and front office area. The flooring consisted of 3 different length planks (16", 32" and 48"). The installers should have mixed the lengths so that the resulting floor would have yielded a random length pattern of the 3 lengths with the 48 inch length planks dominating the floor. They did not. The kitchen and family room floor, were installed with ALL 48" lengths with the smaller lengths used in the pantry. When we brought this to their attention David's response was that "We installed thousands of floors. We know what we're doing." This was the first of many installation blunders. Rather than ruin the integrity of the tongue and groove flooring, we agreed to allow David to cut false joints to simulate a random length floor. While making the joints, the saw slipped on some joints and nicked adjacent floor boards, high gloss polyurethane was used on a satin finish floor and the polyurethane was sloppily applied over a wide area instead of in the joint. Rather than cut the flooring to fit against the cabinets, caulking was used to fill the gaps. David response was "I'll replace any boards you cannot live with". We had David replace the severely splotched joints. David was again called about the polyurethane splotches. He tried sanding the splotches resulting in blackened areas. His installers tried to cut out and replace more than 8 boards that were false cuts with the result that more than half of the replaced boards were either sticking up or they had taken shortcuts and installed a short board next to another short board. After more than half of the replacements were bad, we felt that this fiasco had to stop and the only way to correct the badly created false joints, above grade replacements and, shortcuts taken was to offer to pay for the materials if David would pay for the labor to tear out and replace the living room and kitchen flooring. David measured and made an initial material estimate of $1500 that went to $2100 when he revisited and remeasured the same area. When we requested David supply different workers during this replacement, he indicated he would not and said he wasn't going to pay them as "they were the ones that screwed up". During his installers removal of the flooring and leveling material, we asked why they weren't removing all of the leveling material and glue. The installer's said they weren't going to remove it because it adhered too well. We were concerned that this would raise the level of the replacement flooring and when we called David about what his installers said, his response was "Stay out of my fck'n face and stay out of my fck'n eyes" and "if you don't like what we're doing, then you install the fck'n floor". There is no excuse for David's outburst as we were paying for David's mistakes and basing our questions on what his installers said. During this install, when bad boards were brought to their attention, and, even though the box states it's the installers responsibility to not install bad boards, the installer's response was "This is what's in the box and this is what we're installing". They were also overhead saying that if they weren't careful with the cleaning agent, they'd bleach the floor. The replaced flooring is lighter in color than the rest of the flooring. Installation mistakes: The dishwasher kick plate was bent during the first install and when replaced on the second install, they lost a screw and left with the panel hanging. Rather than replace the molding as David agreed to do, his installers reused the same molding, cut a section out of the middle of one piece, and left a poorly cut splice filled with caulking. Gaps at the wall were hidden by pulling the molding away from the wall and filling with caulking. Kitchen cabinetry was badly nicked. A $1200.00 secretary desk was scraped against the door jamb during it's move with white paint smeared along the base of the desk. Wall damage includes one severe gash. The installers never advised us of any damage they caused, nor did they did fix the mistakes they created unless we pointed them out. What bothers the most is that his installers talked down to my wife when I wasn't there and David's use of crude and abusive language. On the second install, when on a speaker, rather than correctly install the planks in a random pattern, David instructions were to hide long boards in the center of the living room "because they'll just put a carpet over that area". We are still finding major issues with PrideNMine's installation, damage to furniture and gaps in the flooring. PrideNMine's lack of attention to detail, shortcuts taken, reckless handling of our furniture and, get in and get out and hope you don't notice their mistakes approach to floor installation that resulted in a nightmare for us. read more

I am very impressed and happy with this company. First off, I RARELY give 5 stars, but they deserved every one! I had a basement flood in my house on Monday evening and a Christmas party on Friday. David came and measured on Tuesday and had his crew remove all the wet carpet, spray with an anti mold spray and set up fans to dry the floors. By Wednesday evening we had new carpet installed and everything put back into place. His price was very reasonable too (comparable to a quote we got a little ways back from Home Depot). I have to honestly say I thought he was just trying to get my business by telling me he could do it so quickly, then give me excuses on why he couldn't come, but he installed even a day earlier than promised. We hired Pride-N-Mine to replace our carpet while our house was on the market for sale. We explained the parameters of what we were looking to achieve to David during initial phone conversation, including that we were on a tight time frame, and he was able to make it out to our home on the same day to give us a variety of options to choose from along with some advice regarding market popularity of certain products. David was able to work with our tight schedule as well as our need for his crew to move, dismantle, reassemble and return all of our furniture back to showing condition after the flooring had been replaced. His guys showed up on time, took care of our home and things as they shuffled and progressed on the flooring. We were shocked with how much they were able to accomplish in a day. That same evening our home was back to showing condition with brand new carpet! One thing I wanted to mention is that the following day I actually spilled about 1/10th of a gallon of flat wall paint on the carpet, and very much a different color of paint than the carpet itself. In a panic I began cleaning it, dumping water on it, vacuuming it with our floor steam cleaner for about 4 or 5 iterations, thinking it was inevitable that I would have to call David and his crew back out to come replace a section of the carpet to fix my oops. As I kept dumping and suctioning, I saw the carpet return to its original color and texture. I gave it another day for the remaining dampness to air-out and I cannot find the spot where I spilled the paint. It's baffling how the stain resistance of the carpet is. We specifically went with a Shaw Moccasin plush with their patented stain resistance, which I thought might've been a bit of a sales pitchy gimmick, but I unfortunately tested out their product's integrity and it holds true! We highly recommend David & his team for your flooring project. He shot straight with us regarding product selection and held true to his commitments. read more

I had those guys show up and patch my carpet. They did ok job but a 3 days later carpet start to lift where they fixed. When they came back they start blaming on my Roomba that it was lifting carpet or my dog tore it again or other excuses. He was rude and almost shouting at me. Watch out for them. Absolutely call Pride N Mine for your flooring needs! We just purchased a new carpet from Pride N Mine and the entire process start to finish was great. I called and spoke to David. We talked for a few minutes for him to get an idea of what we were looking for. He came to the house with the samples which was great to be able to see them in the room they'd be in. The samples he brought were right on point with what I'd described we were looking for. He gave us plenty of time to decide and was very forthcoming with the pros and cons of the different styles and price points. Installation was also fantastic. We weren't there for most of the actual install but from what we did see as well as the final result it's clear the installation is top notch professional. We had some really challenging stairs to deal with yet every edge and corner is just perfect. Everything was cleaned up and left as it was found. Overall, a pleasant and hassle-free experience. From our first call of interest to beautifully installed carpet, it took exactly one week, much faster than the other companies I called. The price was reasonable, and while we ended up spending a little more than we were quoted elsewhere, the higher quality product and installation were worth it. Having no knowledge about carpet, it was nice to have a professional come and explain everything, from density to the blend of carpet.
