I have eaten at Prima Pasta several times, and have always loved it. But today while we were there with our agency we have never been treated so poorly. The room was loud and hard to hear the wait staff at times. The waitress was extremely rude because we did not hear her the first time she announced something. She got very mouthy with a couple people at our table. Then put one of our plates in the window and walk out of the room mouthing at us. I went and talked to the manager and he said he would speak with her. On my way back to the table she continued mouthing at us. Overall the food was great but the service sucked!! If your waitress is the lady below run the other direction!! She needs a serious refresher course on customer service. read more

Went back, tried the same meal again. The veal and chicken were better this time, and there was at least twice the sauce this time so there was pretty good lemon and wine sauce flavor. I was pretty impressed by the change. The poor waitress was having a horrible night though. She was doing 5 areas and the bar, and said there were only two waitstaff for the 100 people there. We waited a bit for a few personal pizzas. The first came out quickly and the kept saying the second would be out in a few minutes. After about 45 minutes she let us know they hadn't even made it. Why 4 Stars? You can't get better value for your money during lunch. I almost always get the grilled chicken caesar and it is pretty damn good. The bread is the draw, like Outback only I like Prima Pasta's even better than Outback. I've had a lasagna a couple of times and it was good, but not amazing. I probably wouldn't eat here for supper. I was hoping for some delicious spaghetti I have asked for some old fashioned spaghetti with meatballs it took 30 minutes wasn't busy at all the sauce was not good two meatballs is okay the portion was sad the bread was hard I had to ask for soft bread just really not pleased for a restaurant that has the name of pasta in it and they don't know what they're doing. I could have went home and whipped up a better tasting spaghetti than that any day. Bland no taste nothing in the sauce just not happy at all. Ordered a large "specialty" pizza. Ingredients are very good quality, especially the cheese and vegetables. Lots and lots of cheese hardly and other toppings. Perhaps the next time I order a pizza from here I'll ask for extra sauce and one that has fennel in it but that's my own preference. The crust got chewy and hard like a cracker pretty quick but I don't eat a lot of crust so not a big deal for me. Just would have liked more Italian sausage, mushrooms, onions and pepperoni on mine. Ok, here's my deal with Prima. #1 they are expensive. And don't get me wrong, the food is really good. Probably some of the best in town. BUT, I feel like we consistently wait on things like drinks, refills, and just don't feel like the service is very good. And they don't have sweet tea, which is a huge peeve of mine. I wish there was something between 3 & 4 because that's where I'd land. I go here because it's good for groups as far as seating goes - although the larger the group, the more likely it will be 20 minutes before I see a glass of water. But if it weren't for that, I'd probably not eat here very often, despite it being pretty good quality food. read more

This is a place that I would call "A Crying Shame". We took my Mother-in-law there for lunch. I ordered a salmon dish that was really good. MIL ordered a personal pizza that looked hand made, crust and all. My hubby ordered spaghetti w/ meatballs. Had heard their bread was great... it was average, but i'm also not a big bread person. I was impressed that the sauces all seemed to be homemade, the pizza dough, the bread, then my hubby asked if I wanted to try the meatball. I usually order angel hair with meat sauce and meatballs the first time but I didn't this time. I find the meat sauce and meatballs will tell the truth about any Italian restaruant. Well, I was very disappointed when, with one bite, discovered their meatballs are frozen from a bag. They do so much fresh, why can't they make fresh meatballs? They're easy, cheaper if you make them and if you get a good recipe some restaurants are known mostly for their meatballs! I asked a waiter (not OUR waitress who was apparently in high demand because WE rarely saw her) to let the manager know the kitchen was not draining the pasta well because I had way too much liquid under my pasta. We sat there visiting for another 15 minutes or so and the manager never came out to address my concern. To me that says that manager really doesn't care what I or anyone else thinks of the food! We we paid our bill, I told the gal at the register that the kitchen wasn't draining the pasta well enough and she said "well I would go get the manager but he's in the kitchen cooking right now". So I said "could you suggest to them that homemade meatballs would be much better than the frozen meatballs they are serving". She said "well we've served the same frozen meatballs for years and people seem to like them just fine". I said "maybe that's because they've never tasted a really good homemade meatball". All in all it wasn't horrible, but could be something really special if they gave a damn, and put just a little more effort into the food. Service: Sucked! Food: Mostly good, made fresh EXCEPT the frozen meatballs that are gross. Attitude: Sucked! Management concern about food and customers: SUCKED! Good food. Wait service is hit and miss. Not sure why its so hard for them to keep wait staff, different waiters almost every time we go in. The chicken marsala is real good. Their house dressing is great. I'm not sure what kind of pizza the other reviewers here got, but the ones my daughter gets are horrible. I came to brownwood to visit my dad and sister and this is the place they chose to have some lunch on me. They were friendly and all the food was good. I had the white pizza and nobody at the table or the waitress had tried the pizza so two let people know it's really good. Big fresh ingredients and the ricotta is great. The dining room is amazing for big parties and elbow seating. It's a more dim of a place but the lights and scenery fit it well. The menu is a very clean cut menu easy to find the obvious; the staffing could use some help in knowing what their serving. Staff over all was unprofessional I don't want to come in and all the workers standing there waiting to get the next table. It was very unpleasant with the workers not doing anything. Large group of us went for dinner on a Saturday night. This place is huge but it wasn't really busy. Being from the city, I expect all places to be packed, but I forgot its Brownwood. Anyway, I noticed our friend's portions were very big but we ordered the white pizza. It was very good because we added basil and garlic. I was surprised that this place charged $1.00 for a small amount of olive oil, most italian places offer it complimentary. The waitress was very good to our group. Love this place for Italian. Been a staple for me since I was a teenager. Great bread, great service, great location. The usual for me is ChkFettAlf add red pepper or cayenne. Wow. For a smaller town, they do Italian food pretty well. Be warned, portions are pretty big. Come hungry or be prepared to take home leftovers. To begin: I won't lie, the food here is very good. However, it is absolutely NOT good enough to be worth hearing the owner/cook verbally abuse our server, leaving her in tears, for HIS mistake. My wife ordered a steak, and requested the sauce, mushrooms, etc. be on the side - not that difficult. So, the steak comes out, and it is completely smothered. My wife alerts the server to this, and she goes back to let the kitchen know. My wife cuts into the steak while she's gone; she doesn't take a bite, she simply cuts into it to see how it's cooked. The server returns, sees this, and immediately begins showing signs of trepidation and fear, telling us the cook/owner said he would cook her a new one, and eat this one himself, BUT ONLY IF IT WASN'T CUT INTO AT ALL. Okay, well... We go ahead and send the steak back; we were only there because we had been told it was the best steak in town, and my wife, you know, wanted the steak how she had ordered it. We were sitting by the kitchen entrance, and we immediately hear the cook/owner begin bellowing at our server, blaming HER for HIS mistake in preparation (we clearly saw her note 'sauce on the side', and heard her call it to the kitchen). She returns, tears streaming down her face, with the original steak in hand. She explains that he will not prepare a new steak (no matter that he was the one who had erred), and falls all over herself apologizing. We assure her she did nothing wrong, and proceed to broach the matter with the cook/owner himself. He insists that it is the server's error (somehow), and is a complete narcissist about the entire matter. We explained that we had NO interest in having anything comped, we simply wanted what we had ordered, the way we had ordered it. Long story short: we payed our bill, tipped our poor sever handsomely for what she was having to endure, and our party of six left with our uneaten food in to-go boxes. Prima Pasta has great food. Hell, it's the only Italian restaurant in town, but I will never again spend money there. I can deal with a bit of a drive for food, and I can deal with fare that's not quite at the same level, but I CANNOT abide a narcissistic owner who's pride will not allow him to own up to his own mistakes, turning instead to abuse of his employees. There were some people in the restaurant but for most part it was empty, our waiters seem very happy and greeted us. Hubby order side of garlic bread and chicken alfredo, I order the chicken primavera. We got garlic bread first the bread was nice and toasted but the garlic and fake butter that they put on it was horrible it tasted like bread dip in vegetable oil. It just got worst from there, our food arrive in this massive portions, hubby's alfredo was more like water down buttermilk bland and tasteless and no matter how much black pepper he added to try and make it better it was not. My chicken primavera first impression was how massive it was the vegetables came right out a frozen bag the sauce had no flavor and found a huge HAIR rolled on the broccoli. I called the waitress she was very apologetic and offer to bring something else, I told her I pass. We got our check and as she was giving it to my husband she said if you want I can pay for your meal, WHAT!!!! That was it for me I left the restaurant as my hubby paid. I was not expecting for them to comp our whole meal but she should at least taken my plate off without asking. Prima Pasta has always been our go to place. Being from out of town, every time we come to visit family we are excited to come here this time we were soooooo disappointed/upset. We always order the same thing. My baked ziti I Eat more than half of and the leftovers fill the to go container. My daughter orders lasagna and can barely move after eating and so forth and so on. We ordered to go because of COVID. We paid the same as if we ate inside. The tiny to go container that I take leftovers home is what they gave me. My daughters lasagna was hard to see, it actually looked like one layer and very small. To add insult to injury we had to go to a gas station by Riverside Park to buy cutlery because none was included nor napkins!! Such a disappointment from our go to place. Prima is, hands down, the best Italian restaurant I've eaten at. The cooks are Italian, so there's no question about its authenticity. In a culture where we've learned to hail Olive Garden and Carino's as Italian food, it's easy to see why some people short circuit when they eat here. It's just not like those big chain places. It's actually GOOD! The steaks are delicious and their sauces are "oh wow!". The bread is just a basic white bread croissant-style roll. The house dressing is a must-try. The environment is casual/nice and their is a low turnover among the staff, so you're likely to see the same people most visits and they remember you by name. We love this place. read more
