We ordered the takeout Grandma's Pie, which absolutely lived up to its reputation, along with an order of Garlic Knots that were outstanding. We returned another day for the Shrimp Francese over linguine, a cheese calzone, and more garlic knots. Everything was authentic, fresh, and simply delicious. Co-owner Nick was a pleasure to meet, and Ryan, the friendly cashier, made us feel right at home. Their welcoming attitude and genuine pride in the restaurant added to an already excellent dining experience. Was in the area and Yelped where to eat and this gem caught my eye, and so happy it did. Was greeted by the friendliest two gentlemen. I Can tell this is a family owned business with a great sized menu. We sat in their quaint outdoor area, upon sitting we were given garlic knots in tomato sauce and sliced cheese. Let me tell you the quality of the cheese, sauce, and knots are out of this world. The gentleman that brought out our food was so nice and attentive. My boys had the chicken cutlet parmigiana on a sandwich size garlic knot. I know it was good without asking them because they didn't talk till they finished it. Lol. They said it was a perfect balance of everything in a sandwich. They raved at how perfect the chicken cutlet was cooked. I had the chicken noodle soup which was awesome. We came across this excellent restaurant while traveling and we were not disappointed. The first and probably the best part of our experience was the owner. He was very friendly and hands on with all his customers. Their dining area is very small but he made sure to make us feel comfortable. All their staff were constantly interacting with all their customers too. We only had time for pizza, which was great, but we were sitting next to a family who the owner was creating their menu from just talking with them. That personal touch really made that experience and their multiple courses looked amazing. We live about an hour away but we will definitely return for a full meal the next time we are in the area. read more

Only tried Prima, even though I live real close, due to the overwhelming posit reviews. Whenever I try a new place, I get home and my Jersey born wife says "ahh just ok". She grew up on Federicis and locally Deninos's was "sufficient". She proclaimed it "better than Deninos" and our new goto local pizza spot. I prefer thinner crust but this is very light so works. Honestly there isn't anything to say other than this place is great. The pizzas were delicious and the salads we had were fresh with the right amount of dressing. John the owner is from Puglia a beautiful region of Italy. I found this amazing place by accident, attending a funeral service nearby, my trusted Yelp app led me to this gem. Food was amazing. He came to our to ask what we would like, had several specials that sounded great but it was late so I wanted something light. He made a grilled chicken breast with broccoli rabe, garlic, fresh mozzarella that was delicious. He suggested home made chicken soup which my sister enjoyed, truly home made quality. Growing up in Brooklyn with the best pizza outside of Naples, if you are near Prima Pizza you can save the ride and tolls to Brooklyn. His personal touch, making us feel welcome and giving us so many great options is not what you experience in many pizza restaurants today. Locals were coming in and out picking up orders, the staff was on a first and basis with everyone! If I lived in the area John and I would spend lots of time together. This is our new favorite place. Not only is the pizza consistently good (correctly baked pizza dough- super important, correct sauce/cheese ratios, margherita to die for), we had the pleasure of eating in here as well. These guys had no problems accommodating a party of 11, and even baked 2 pies in advance for us, knowing the kids would be hungry. The Sunday Sauce is some of the best I have had. Best pizza in Colts Neck...Monmouth County...New Jersey...anywhere. Once you eat here, no other pizza will suffice. Friendly service, great pizza, garlic knots are soft chew perfectly cooked and they don't mind when we request to have it with melted cheese on top.
