Had the oddest experience ordering from this place. I recently moved to the area, and this shop is within walking distance. The Google reviews looked great, so I gave it a try. I called ahead to order, but the man on the phone seemed shocked--he even asked twice if I was sure I was calling Prima Pizza. Strange, but I brushed it off. I've been going to this Pizzeria for about 3 years now. about a year ago it exchanged ownership. Nothing has really changed much. The Pizza is good, Entrees as well. I've had no problems with them, whether I run in for a slice, order a pie or other foods, never an issue. Expect a hosh posh of subpar quality food. With our $50 order, came many faults; - Supreme pizza missing olives. (He offered a credit.) - Hawaiian pizza w Bacon Bits topping. (He claimed that they use only 'high quality bacon'. Last I checked, Bacon Bits aren't high quality bacon but OKAY. I also mentioned that under their Yelp profile a bacon pie photo existed in what real bacon had been previously used. His response was that he cannot control who uploads what photos and that it could have been a different establishment (SURE). - 2 orders of Garlic Knots (6): Received random assortment of 2 entirely different types of garlic knots. Consistency is definitely not their forte. No marinara sauce either. When the delivery guy arrived, was told they didn't have any condiments due to lack of fulfillment (from COVID). I get it, we are in unprecedented times. Which is why I even bother to look up new places to order takeout from so that I can continue to support restaurants in my area. Figured I would leave a comment because the owner or guy at the counter was extremely rude to me when I went the other day. I saw a sign for dollar pizza so I went in and ordered 2 ; came out to 5$. and I asked him " but the sign , says 1 dollar " .( the sign is actually a giant banner ) And he tells me I was wrong and he just leaves it up, they don't do that and do i know how to read - . But Of course .... that's why i came in ..... ( because i can read) .. and the sign said 1$ When I told him it's false advertising and he should take it down because it's confusing who were expecting a dollar slice . he continued to get louder and be very rude . I ordered the Lasagna from Prima Pizza and a Diet Coke. The owner Joe was real nice while he took my order over the phone and my delivery info. The delivery driver was great and real helpful, the food came in about 30 minutes after I ordered. One of the best lasagnas I've had, they threw in some garlic knots and gave me a big Diet Coke also. Tuesday, 6:40pm, called in for pick- up. They said it would be about a 3o-35 min wait for a Baked Ziti pie, pepperoni pie and a chicken parm hero. When I got there the staff is always very friendly and patient. They always ask if you need plates/ napkins or utensils. I inquired about one of their Italian icee flavors and they offered me a free scoop to try it. Ziti slice was cool. Could've used a bit more seasoning in the sauce, but better than a few other surrounding places. Chicken part hero- no complaints. Great size for price and a part of the few meal deals they have. Plain/ pepperoni slices- Could use a crispier crust. Hits the spot if you have a pizza craving. Garlic knots- I would prefer a better side of sauce but at the same time - these barely need them. Not very satisfied. So I only ordered a pizza pie with mushrooms. I was delivered a plain pizza pie instead. I called about the error and they told me they would swap the pizza with the right one and throw in free garlic knots. Waited another half hour and I was delivered the right pizza but no garlic knots (darn). To top it off, I opened the pizza box and saw that they threw in some chopped garlic mixed with the mushroom! what???! Is that what they meant? I could have sworn I heard "garlic knots on the house." Anyways, pizza didn't wow me (especially when my teeth bit into those garlic. YUCK!). Lesson learned. Ordered pizza from here on Tuesday February 18,2020 based on some coupons they left in my building vestibule. Pizza: I got a large pepperoni and bacon pie. The pie has 8 slices which are all a good size. The pizza is very good and I'm only sad that I've passed this place many times without giving it a second thought. Wings: We got the bbq flavor which was good and they gave an even amount of flats to drumsticks. Cost: The deal was for wings and a 2 Liter soda for $21.99. The cost went up to $28 with the toppings. Delivery: The delivery took a while but I wasn't starving so it was fine. They told me the time frame to expect and the pizza came within that window. The delivery guy was very nice and professional. This pizza place is so small but welcoming. Has been my neighborhood pizzeria since childhood. I like coming here and order their salads, wings and pizza. The one time I decided to try a shrimp Alfredo it was so yummy. The sauce was so tasty and fresh. The shrimp had the perfect amount of seasoning. Will be coming back definitely but maybe not for shrimp alfredo since it's heavy on the stomach for me but the wings are so yummy and juicy. I was on my way to Queens Village to pick up my godson and was STARVING!! After we got there, my boyfriend, who was also HANGRY at this point, spotted this little pizzeria and went to get a pie. It was taking so long I wanted to cry, but after realizing that we were waiting longer than usual, one of the guys gave us some fresh garlic knots to enjoy while we waited. When I tell y'all these garlic knots were DIVINE!! I don't use that word often, but omg they were so good! After devouring the garlic knots, we ordered some to go (12 for $3.50) and got our pie and were on our merry way. YOU GUYSSSSSSS when I tell you this pizza was so goooooooooddddddd! I live in Brooklyn, NY, about a 45 minute drive away from Prima Pizza, but I will definitely make the trip again just to get this pizza! Just gotta say... I came here a few months back and I was waiting on my order. The owner (Joe?) was sitting at one of tables eating. These 3 teenagers come in, one of them had his pants sagging down to his knees. The owner was like "Hey, pull your pants up! There's a lady in here!" LMAO XD Seriously, love this guy. Great sense of humor - and best pizza in NYC! Prima is #1! :) ~ By the way... to all the other reviewers complaining about the fact that the slices are $2 - DEAL WITH IT. My cousin showed me this place, to show me what a classic NY pizza was like. I was amazed when I tried the regular cheese slice. It was simple and beautiful. It was packed full of flavor and undoubtedly the best slice I had in NYC thus far. It is everything you've seen in the movies as a kid, everything you would hope NYC pizza would be. Then they tried to ban my purchases because I wouldn't comply with paying the tip in advance. Prima pizza passes the benchmark for what a NYC pizza should be; nice, thin crust with a good ratio of crust:sauce:cheese. It's a good pizza. You can't go wrong here. The Sicilian has a not as thick crust as the usual square slices, which I liked. It also had a very tasty, crispy bottom. While Prima is very good, it doesn't quite reach the level of NYC pizza immortality. The place IS very clean and the pizza man is very personable. The specialty pizzas in the showcase looked really good, too (all specialty pizzas are made on a "round Sicilian" crust.) read more
