The food was OK. The service was excellent but when the bill came there were 2 different amounts one. If I wanted to pay cash and the other if I was to pay withe credit card? No I know hes had to raise his prices just because of the pandemic but to raise prices plus charge you more to use your credit card. My family's experience at this Prima's last week (now that I have had a chance to calm down): I took my family out to dinner to one of our favorite places in Springfield due to the nice and covered outdoor seating area. This was a group including my wife and I, our 4 girls and my sister-in-law. The hostess that seated us told us about a special involving a "margarita sampler" which included samples of 8 margaritas for $5. We discussed and decided the 3 adults would each order that and then decide what margaritas we would order from those samples. Our server came out and when we tried to order the sampler she hem hawed around and told us "it would take too long since we were sitting on the patio." We had no plans for after dinner so we were not in a horrible hurry but she continued to try to sway us away from the sampler. So we acquiesced and just ordered a margarita for each of us. Our margaritas came and mine had no salt when I had requested it be rimmed with salt and my sister-in-law's had salt when she requested it not. I kindly informed the server that Mary could easily remove the salt from her drink but I was not really able to put it on mine. She offered to bring me a glass of salt. I asked her how I was supposed to put that on a glass with a margarita already in it and after the blank stare I just resigned myself to a mediocre level of service (maybe she is new) and said "fine, whatever you think is acceptable." She came back with a new drink as originally ordered for me. While all this was going on there were other customers who came in after us and appeared to have no problem ordering the "margarita sampler" while dining on the patio. She eventually came over and took our food orders and an hour later the food came out. Yes, as indicated earlier we were not in a hurry and had no plans for after dinner so an hour was not a major issue for us but appended onto the service we had experienced so far we were certainly not impressed and this was nowhere near the service we were used to at this venue. Then when you factor in that I ordered fajita nachos with steak and I was served fajita nachos with chicken, the sides on the meals for my youngest two were mixed up and the server stood tableside and replated the fries and the applesauce right there on the patio, and my sister-in-law never did get the shells that should have come with her fajitas so she ended up having to make hers into a salad, our experience just plummeted. We let the server know that we were not impressed so she got the on duty manager. He came out and to his credit he apologized profusely, heard us out about our experience so far and said he would personally remake my meal and would bring it out himself shortly. So that was somewhat comforting and the rest of my family continued eating. When the rest of my family was all done, I flagged down our server and asked her to just have the meal I was STILL waiting for to just be put into a togo box since everyone else at the table we done eating and I did not expect them to wait on and watch me eat by myself. Fifteen minutes later my order came out in two togo containers, we paid the bill with a $0.00 tip (I normally tip a minimum of 20% and go up from there). When I got home, I thought my "togo" order was in two containers to keep the 'chips' portion from getting soggy. Alas, the chips were buried under the meat, peppers and onions and the fresh avacado, lettuce and sour cream were in the other container so the chips were all mush and made the entire order unpalatable. Make no mistake, I was not expecting this entire meal to be comped, but I was disappointed the manager thought comping my meal and then taking 10% off the bill was a gesture sincerely intended to elicit customer loyalty. So no, I don't expect to be returning to Prima's again in the foreseeable future and if that is the level of service they provide even at the manager level, I will not be recommending Prima's to anyone else either. I am not looking for anything in return from the restaurant, that time was while we were still at the restaurant. I simply think this should be both a fair warning to other diners and a teachable moment for the restaurant staff. read more

Stopped in just now for the first time on Fathers Day after leaving Buffalo Wild Wings after we were seated and no one ever returned to check on us, given menus, etc. Primas saved the day for us! Had 7 people in our group including 3 which were children. We were promptly seated. Our server (Jillian) was incredible! Food came quickly and everyone got a delicious meal. With all due respect to earlier reviewers, I have to rate Prima's very highly. Our party partook in three different entrées (smothered carnitas, carne guisada, and mine--asada tacos). All three meals were delicious, none lacking in seasoning at all. They give you a choice of refried beans too. I ordered the black bean version, which had a savory flavor. The traditional pinto bean version was equally good. The two salsas--regular and hot--combined very well as well. In conclusion, this location may have had its problems when it started off, but I've been twice in the last month, and both visits were wonderful. I really like sitting on the patio. It has ceiling fans so don't worry about melting outside. In terms of food, I'd recommend the chile relleno stuffed with chicken or beef. Wow is all I can say. I misread their sign and thought that they had a special on avocado tacos- when they found this out they made special ones for me that were absolutely delicious. Very disappointed in my experience today. Even the hostess that sat us- zero personality. I had two kids with me, had to ask for kids menus she brought back only one. They messed up my order and then acted like I had done something wrong. Said I ordered something that I didn't. Then, who I assume is the manager, brought out my new plate, ....no one ever apologized. She just had an attitude. The food wasn't as good as it usually is at the Ozark location. A friend and I prefer this Prima's Mexican Grill on Glenstone Ave to the one in Chesterfield Village. When a group of us decided to go to Chesterfield Village after a movie the waitress was rude, tossed our food across the table and didn't bring our meals until both the pates and food was cold, then she never came back except to bring the bill. Never saw the manager the whole time we were there. Prima's on Glenstone is much cleaner and friendlier. The waitresses have never referred to us as "sweetie or honey" which I hate. They are very professional and polite while letting you know new items, specials, etc. A manager seems to always around and visible. read more
