Dining week meal - I had never been here before, it was perfectly dim but decorated, comfortable date night. we started with wedge salad (too much bleu cheese for me) and cauliflower bites (now these were yummy). Espresso martini seemed recommended & it was good, not too sweet. Then we ordered the short rib raviolis (definitely a hit) and the steak (maybe because it's dining week, but it was not as impressive as I had hoped) & dessert, which was fun but I wish it was an actual dessert. Saw the reviews before hand and warned my partner it was hit or miss. Unfortunately we came on a miss day. Calamari was over cooked, chewy, and flavorless. Cut into my "12 oz" steak and it was rare/medium rare (ordered medium.) Another table also sent back their steak at the same time so maybe the kitchen was off, not sure. She took it back and returned the same steak which was now sliced in half and over-charred (and I love me some char,) and still undercooked. Side "loaded" baked potato came cold, missing the trappings. (I think it was supposed to have cheese?) The worst $10 potato I've ever had. I didn't even touch it beyond one bite. Brussel sprouts were flavorless. Ate about 4 of them. Bordelaise was not good at all. BUT, 2 stars for the Manhattan which was nearly the best I've ever had. The food, unfortunately, was terrible. $270 later and we left disappointed. The server seemed new. She was apologetic but seemed overwhelmed by kitchen mistakes. I went here for a work dinner with my husband's company and I LOVED the ambiance! It used to be an old bank and transformed into a restaurant. It's all brick and a little below ground. It's very cool inside and has tons of room! They have a separate entrance for the bar also. They have a huge variety of selections on their menu, so there is something for everyone. I loved their china! Every dish came out on a different pattern china and the china itself was so pretty and unique! Our wait staff was great and knowledgeable when asked questions. I really liked how they served jelly with their bread and butter. I don't think I have ever seen that before. For an appetizer we got the calamari and shrimp cocktail which honestly were not the greatest. Shrimp tastes like it was thawed frozen shrimp and the calamari was kinda cold. However, my meal was AMAZING!! I got a French onion soup to start which was so good! I got the chicken and it has a drizzle of balsamic topped with tomatoes, mozzarella balls and olives. An amazing combination! I also highly recommend the lobster Mac and cheese! For desert I had the apple tart with ice cream and that was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend that as well. I'd give our food 4 stars overall. Our server Katrina and our experience overall is what made it a 5 star experience. I was a little bit wary about going to Prime the way we were dressed (super casual as we'd just come from the nearby mall). My husband called ahead to inquire about the wait for a table, dress code, and if they could accommodate our daughter's allergies. He was informed there was no wait and it'd be fine to come as we were and was reassured that they could accommodate our daughter. We were some of the most casually dressed (sneakers, jeans, husband in a t shirt, etc) in the dining room and only party with children but no one batted an eye. Food menu looked typical in offerings and prices on par with chain steak houses that are three dollar signs. I didn't look too closely at the wine and cocktail list. We had half a dozen oysters, petite filet mignon with blue cheese, cowboy steak, side of mac and cheese, side of sweet corn crème brûlée, side of asparagus, side of French fries, and chicken for my daughter. I had an autumn cocktail, husband had an old fashioned, kids had apple cider and lemonade. Total came out to under $300. Everything was solid. I enjoyed how our steaks came with whole cloves of garlic. We like our steaks medium rare and they were cooked perfectly. Katrina asked us to cut into them to double check they were fine. My daughter's chicken was tender and the French fries were so crispy, we were concerned about them being breaded at first. The side of French fries was big enough for the kids to share. I especially enjoyed the sweet corn crème brûlée. I didn't care much for the mac and cheese. I enjoyed my seasonal cocktail but found the old fashioned to be a bit harsh. Like aforementioned, Katrina made our night. It was nice chatting with her, she gave us just the right amount of attention, and she was extra patient with the kids even when my youngest spilled his practically full glass of lemonade. She was also very knowledgeable about what's on the menu and in the food. This is very reassuring when you have a kid with a lot of allergies. It's so nice to have a high end restaurant that you can take your family and friends out to when you really want to impress them. Listen, it's expensive...but it's worth it. Sure some of the items I would completely avoid(looking at you French fries), but if your coming to a high end steak house for fries...you need to rethink your life. The steaks are to die for and they are cooked to absolute perfection. i was a huge fan of the tuna tostada as well! I wish I had room for dessert because they sounded so good. Overall we had an awesome experience and loved the whole vibe of the place. The staff were beyond courteous and the vibe was like a restaurant in nyc or Chicago. I highly recommend coming here. I'm driving from Boston to Tacoma, WA to visit the grand kids. My wife is flying out in a week. Friday, August 19, 2023 I sat at the bar and had a perfectly made manhattan (thank you Kayla). Ordered the large fillet mignon (no bone) and asked for it to be served medium rare. That is exactly what I got. The steak came with a small ear of corn and some mashed potatoes. I have my "go to" steak restaurants in Boston, but if I lived in Syracuse, I'd definitely put Prime right at the top as a place to visit regularly. I made a reservation for anniversary, and requested a nice table and was assured such. Even called the day before to confirm and again was told no problem. Showed up the next night and was told only seating was in bar because they had a private party booked. Owner's attitude was basically take it or leave it. Ended up staying and had a so so dinner. I decided to try Prime Steakhouse's Syracuse dining week menu and I wasn't disappointed AT ALL!!! to start off our server John was excellent, he was very attentive, filled our waters without asking, didn't interrupt our conversations and was on point the whole evening. To start off I chose the wedge salad which was delicious, I had the short ribs and mushroom risotto for my main course which was AMAZING, and I finished the evening with the ice cream bar. They had a lot of different options as far as toppings which I thought was really fun and creative. I ordered 2 cocktails; the prime aviation & the Pom tini. Both were really good but the Pom tini was my favorite. I'm glad I got to take advantage of the $35 3-course meal because during these times I can't say I'll be back any time soon as their menu is a bit pricey. The food service was a five out of 10. What was really disturbing to me was I had a waiter by the name of Ryan, and he was wonderful I can tell it was his first time, but he did great. As he is serving me, I hear the owner Danny speaking to his waitress so disgustingly I spend a lot of money there, but that was my first time seeing the owner speak to a woman especially African-American woman in a predominantly caucasian environment in front of customers how such of a terrible person she is, and I do not condone that with me having four daughters. Have frequented prime a handful of times with friends. Never have had a bad experience with the food or service. By far it is probably the best places to get a good steak. My favorite is the cowboy rib eye hands down. The meat dishes come with a wedge salad with a ball of goat cheese. Can opt to substitute a beet salad which is also delicious. Have had asparagus, the hash brown, Mac n cheese and cream of spinach. Oysters on the half shell were also very fresh and delicious. Veal chop--- amazing and savory. I REALLY wanted to like this place - but sadly we left disappointed. When we searched "best steakhouse in Syracuse" this was a top contender and we weee able to make a reservation easily for a week night. When we got here we realized quick that it was going to be a very expensive meal- the steaks do not come with sides, the sides are all $10+ and adding a salad was another $10-15. I don't mind paying $50-70 for a nice steak but this was far from that. I like a good char on my outside of steak as much as the next person but what I don't like is that their char literally changes the temperature of the steak. A medium was more like a medium well, a medium well closer to a well done. I know they have the disclaimer on the menu, but the waiters and waitresses should probably explain this a little better, especially when people ask for clarification on how they cook their steaks (like we did.) Before dinner you get a few rolls and butter with Himalayan salt on top which was surprisingly good. Steaks come with a 1/3 cob of sweet corn, a few cloves of roasted garlic & a roasted tomato. We had the seasonal fall punch & an old fashioned for drinks. Old fashioned was not very well made, but the punch was pretty good. Our tab for 2 drinks, a filet (the cheapest steak on the menu), the smaller portion strip steak, spinach and a baked potato was $180, so $220 after tip. Again, I no problem paying for a good quality steak and good service but it was concerning that the best part of our meal may have been the creamed spinach and not the $60 steak, and we only saw our waitress twice throughout the whole meal when we were her only table. read more

He asked for it over veggies instead of pasta for obvious reasons and asked for no butter or garlic. The waitress came back a short time after and told us that the chef refused to make his meal. When we asked why, she said "it was the principle, he doesn't want to make the modifications". I've never heard of that before, surely not in a restaurant in Syracuse. I had an absolutely amazing time here! So the restaurant is downstairs in the basement of the Gridley building. The scene is extremely eclectic! There are even safes in the rooms, wow so cool. One of the best parts is they bring your food out on carts. It's such a unique touch! So we came in and fortunately we were seated pretty fast. Our waitress went above and beyond when it came to helping us out. I think her name was either Cara or Tara...I can't remember. Now...on to the food! The steak was cooked perfectly! I love how the sides are served family style too! Oh wow...I forgot to mention the starters you get before your meal. They serve a pretzel bread with a house made honey butter. So tasty! I love how they present their deserts on a tray and go into detail. If I wasn't so stuffed I would have order one.
