I give this place a no Stars as I cannot give it negative Stars. I have only given one bad review before, but this by far was the worst dining experience I have ever had. The service at this place is deplorable. We had a party of 7 including two children. We waited 2 hours for the kids food, and about 15 more for the adult food. We complained at about 2 hours, asked to speak to a manger on a Saturday night. I received the head waitress which offered to comp my desert. I again asked to speak to the manager and found out the owner was present, I asked to speak to him. The owner never comes over, I ask again and all of a sudden he left. I then find him sitting with friends at bar, ask him to come over and all he has is excuses. I was unaware, no one told me, I am unsure what is happening. When I asked why they told me he left, he stated he never left. He was nasty and we got into it. He finally conceded to comping half our meal. I came here a second time and I'd have to say this place is less than stellar. I ordered a Medium Rare Fillet and the outside of the fillet was burnt, the inside was rare. So, I decided to give this place another chance after the food poisoning incident the first time. Good decision. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation and were immediately seated. There was actually quite a few open tables for a Saturday night which makes me wonder if the place is turning a profit. It did start to fill up a little more as the night wore on. Wifey and I did a little pre-game activitiy at the martini bar across the street and then swaggered into Prime (not staggered) :) What great ambience. Dim lighting made for a very romantic dining experience. We ordered the Porter House and split it. The sides were family style (huge) and pretty tasty. They have a good wine selection - not great, but decent. The wait staff was very attentive and the overall service was good. The steak was phenomenal! Went for Valentine's Day - absolutely terrific. Started with calamari and a couple glasses of wine. Calamari was delicious with some sea salt sprinkled on top. I got the coffee rubbed NY strip and my girlfriend got the pan seared salmon. The steak was fantastic. Juicy and seared perfectly with amazing flavor from the coffee rub. Her salmon was excellent and a very large portion. We also got the lobster mac and cheese as a side which was fantastic. The wedge salads are delicious and almost a full meal themselves. All in all this was one of our favorite places we've gone to eat in Syracuse and definitely will be returning. read more

Worst experience ever. Had a reservation for 8:30 pm sat down on time. Didn't receive our food until 10:05 pm (1 hour 35 minutes). Fillet mignon was over cooked. I asked to speak with the owner/manager and I was told only the lead bartender was on duty. I asked to have the fillet mignon removed from the bill and so I received half price off. When I went to talk with the bartender she ran into the kitchen to consult with the owner who was hiding from the situation. The man emerged from behind a door and I quote "take the meat of the check and throw this guy out of here!!) really.... WOW you made me wait more than an hour and a half we ordered NO appetizers then the entree arrives and it's not edible and you want to throw me out of the restaurant. I feel bad for the staff they all were working hard and when they witnessed the owners response to me they were as embarrassed for that poor SOB as I was. WHEN YOUR IN THE SERVICE BUSINESS THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT EVEN IF THEY ARE WRONG. Stay away the quality of the food is terrible and very overpriced. read more

I Try to support our local foods, but for 840$ dollars last night the six people I brought here all had a terrible meal. We arrived first. No hostess available had to stand there for 10 minutes before we decided to go to the bar. Went there with 6 people. Fairly slow bar, still didn't get approached for about 15-20 minutes. After that I ordered. Only 6 simple drinks that took me 30 minutes to receive at a dead bar. Finally got sat, and service didn't get better. Food was okay, but all pretty bland. Best thing of the night was the fried blue cheese ball on the side of the salad. terrible. But for a 70 dollar steak I thought damn this has to get better. Me and my lady have always wanted a true Pittsburg steak, hard to find a steakhouse that has ability. (Charred on outside rare center), even if that wasn't perfect I would have been happy. But what we got was a barley charred and a well done group of steaks. I've never been to a steakhouse that brings out a well done steak when ordered rare. Touch your hand "chef" it tells you the cook. Shouldn't have that issue at this price point. Anyways 840$ later I'm pretty bummed. Don't spend your money here. They are undeserving. Prime Steak House has been one of our favorite places to go to celebrate special occasions which we did on a recent evening. We found our experience disappointing for several reasons. The prices were out of sight and way too expensive even for a "high end" restaurant in Syracuse NY. In addition, my NY strip was tough...bordering on being inedible. Our total bill for two including two drinks, one wine, two salads, one side and two coffees was $232.00 plus tip!!! These prices might be OK for business expense accounts, but not for the regular diner especially when the food was was far from being outstanding. I was looking forward to a really nice dinner here, but I was really unimpressed. The service was bad and the waiters seemed snobby to the point where they would walk by without even glancing at our table. We had to work to get any attention, so that took away a lot from the whole experience. As for the food, it was good, and the price was reasonable. Ate here over the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend while in Syracuse and just happened to stumble upon this place. Being from out of town we had no idea what to expect, but we were not dissapointed! We started with the Bang Bang Shrimp and this is a must have! Beware it is spicy, but in a very deliciously good way. As for the salad the upgrade to the Caesar salad is definitely worth the money, (a whole dollar!). For the entrees I had the sliced filet and my boyfriend the surf and turf. The filet was perfect and just melted in your mouth, was a very good size as well. Their sides are served family style so if you order one, you receive more than enough to share in a side casserole dish. If you order just one side, make it the Lobster Mac n' Cheese, you will not regret this decision one bit. Finally if you have room their creme brule is delish! read more

This was probably the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. We were in a group of 11 and had 7:00 reservations but they could not seat us until 7:30. They took our drink orders then came back and told us they didn't have the wine off the menu we ordered. We ordered a different wine and they came back and said they ran out of that as well. We ordered appetizers and it was 90 minutes later before they came. My tomato soup tasted like someone opened a can of tomato sauce added a lot of salt and tried to pass it off as soup. My medium rare steak took another 40 minutes and came out well done. Everyone in our group had a similar experience. The manager agreed they screwed up on many levels and agreed to take the appetizers off the bill but later tried to charge us for it. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

"Meh. I've experienced better" is the Yelp tagline for a two-star review, and that hits the nail on the head for my experience. There were two other parties in the place when we got there on a Saturday night, and we were seated right next to one of them, which required the wait staff to say "excuse me" and scoot between us when serving the third group. Unnecessary. We got the calamari appetizer, which was good. Tender calamari, interesting smoked pepper flavor in the dipping sauce, and enough for three people. The batter on the calamari was too thick, and didn't stick well to the meat, but the flavor was good. A basket of bread followed (two pieces each, a pretzel bread and a roll with cranberries in it), and I have to say that was the highlight of the trip. Both kinds of bread were unique and didn't require butter. That was a good thing, because the butter had obviously been stored uncovered in a refrigerator and had gotten some off flavors in addition to the honey they added. There were three of us; one ordered a caesar salad, one ordered the side of lobster mac and cheese, and I ordered the 16 oz NY strip. The caesar salad was good; not exceptional, but good. The lobster mac and cheese was good, although when it was finished in the oven the tips of the pasta dried out significantly as they go light on the sauce. I'm a fan of not drowning the pasta, but hire a chef that can compensate for that when deciding how much time it needs to spend under the broiler! The 75% of the steak that was edible was good. I asked for medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly, with a nice crunchy crust outside and a warm, red, buttery middle. Unfortunately, I paid for 16 oz and could only eat about 12 oz worth, as one end was nothing but connective tissue. The steak knife I was given was literally not enough to cut through it. I have been to really good, upscale restaurants that charge a lot but are worth it. This is NOT one of those places. You could literally eat as well at any of ten places on Erie Blvd, and get a lot more bang for your buck. We drank only water; we got an appetizer, a salad, a side, and the steak, and it came to - wait for it - $88 BEFORE tax and tip. The steak alone (and I do mean alone - it comes with nothing but a dipping sauce I didn't like, and two cloves of garlic) was $46. Had the whole check been $40 I might have been more forgiving of the butter faux pas, the batter falling off the calamari, the dry pasta ends, or the inedible tumor on the end of my steak, but I was insulted by the outrageous upscale prices accompanied by food we could have gotten at Texas Road House MUCH cheaper (and that would have come with two sides, and butter that wasn't stale). Perhaps people who like it here got lucky on their visit, or just don't get out much, or are overcome by the location (it is a cool building downtown), but I am amazed at the good reviews. We were there on a Saturday; if Prime can't bring their "A" game on a Saturday night, I promise that we will never be back. We had a decent meal at Prime over the summer. Nothing to write home about but good enough to return. My husband made plans for a romantic Valentine's night out with some good friends of ours. They got an 8:00 reservation because the hostess a few weeks before said things would be calmer by then. The 4 of us arrived a half an hour early to have a drink at the bar. The bartender's were overwhelmed and drinks and payment took 20 minutes. We wound up having 2 rounds and being sat at 8:30. We were patient and understood how things can be backed up on a night like this. The waitress was OK but looked frazzled off the bat. She recommended a nice bottle of La Crema Pinot Noir which took about 15 minutes to get but was decent once received. As soon as we sat my husband put an order in for calamari as we were all very hungry. Once the wine was poured we placed our order and all ordered a salad to start. At about 9:30 we finished the first bottle of wine and inquired about our appetizers for the 3rd time. At this point we asked for bread and our salads to get us through. At about 9:45 we finally got the bread which was warm and good with our second bottle of wine. At around 10:00 our calamari came out and we finished it quickly. It was good and not over cooked but we were getting cranky as it was late and we were starving! At about 10:15 we inquired again about our salads. Our waitress insisted she would have the salad person make them. There were so many people standing around that I could not believe that someone could not make a simple wedge and ceasar salad. At this point I went to the ladies room and asked for the manager who had yet to make an appearance in the dining room. When he arrived 5 minutes after I asked for him. I explained that I understood that things can get backed up but salads should not take this long. He halfheartedly apologized and said the kitchen was falling apart.He said let me see what I can do but by 10:35 still had not come back. Seeing few people around us getting food we decided we would cut our losses and get the check. I asked for it but our server went about taking her time to get it to us. I again went to the manager and got the check which took another few minutes. They took the calamari off but still charged us $84 dollars for the wine. It took another few minutes to get them to take the payment so I went to the hostess. Since the manager seemed to hide out the entire time, I told the hostess I was sorry that she had to deal with this and that her manager/owner was useless in diffusing this situation. I told her the truth which was that had the manager come out and made conversation, refilled the bread, bought us a drink and made the evening more fun we would have come back. Instead, the spineless, coward of a manager ignored what was going on and refused to roll up his sleeves and make a salad. I will never go back and had a much better time at Denny's which was where we went since it was 11:00 at that point. Other diners were also complaining and commended us for leaving. The mushrooms and onions had no taste, they tasted as if they were cooked in water with no seasoning what so ever. They should have added a sauce for some flavored or cooked with some wine.
