CitySpace on Main Self Storage is a good place to get a storage unit. I've never personally had a…read moreunit here, but I helped a friend with theirs for several hours, and I thought CitySpace was great while I was there. It's a huge space (as most self storage locations are), but I found it easy to navigate. It's gated, and locked from within, so it seemed very secure. I helped my friend clean out her storage unit, organize everything, and dispose of many unwanted items. We had no issues pulling everything out of the unit, as the hallways are quite large. I really like that aspect of this location, because many other storage spaces I've been in have much more narrow hallway spaces, making it more difficult to move items in or out. I have also had experience with storage units where the doors are accessed from outside, so I like that in this location you have to enter through a gate, and then go into the building to access your unit. If you're looking to get a storage unit, I think CitySpace on Main Self Storage is a fine place to do it.

I've had a few storage units over the years for a variety of reasons, and I can say that CitySpace…read moreon Main is one of the nicest facilities I've seen. The storage units are inside and climate-controlled, which will be particularly nice when I have to get into my unit and move some stuff around in the winter and summer months. You can also pull your car into the facility to load and unload it -- again avoiding the high heat, cold, sleet, snow, rain, zombie apocalypse, what have you. The whole place is very clean, and the lady at the front desk has been nice and helpful. CitySpace is downtown and close to my home. Plus you can pay online. And I just learned that CitySpace also serves as a K-9 training center for the Louisville Police. Crazy stuff. The rental prices seem comparable, skewing a little high -- but again you get a lot of amenities for you and your stuff. The one thing I don't like is that I can't access my unit 24/7, but, then again, if I need into my unit at 3 a.m. something is likely very wrong ... or I've just procrastinated in some way.

I recently found myself in need of some extra storage space -- 100+ year old house with no…read morebasement, no garage, and only a tiny shed for a lawnmower meant that there was no place to stash items like my off-season Christmas decorations. After doing a quick search, I came across Spring Street Self Storage. It is convenient to those living in the Highlands, Clifton, and Butchertown neighborhoods and is easy to find -- on Spring Street. I called in advance to confirm the prices and sizes of units, and Clare in the office was so upbeat and professional on the phone. I then swung by one day during office hours to check the place out and possibly get a unit. In person, Clare was just as pleasant as on the phone. She explained what they had available and I went by to check a place out. As she and I walked down a row to check the units out, we passed one unit where a lady was in grabbing some of her things. Clare chit-chatted briefly with her, giving me the distinct impression that this place actually takes an interest in those renting from them and wants to do an exceptional job. My unit was just the right size and was impeccably clean. I bought a lock, signed the contract, and began moving things in that same day. It has been such an easy process that I wonder why I never got a storage unit sooner! If you need some extra space and want a locally-owned self-storage location that goes above and beyond, check out Spring Street Self Storage for your needs. Like me, I think you might just find a new favorite place!

Ok, don't hate me, but I'm a big fan of reading reviews on places, but don't dedicate much time to…read morewriting them...I know, I know...shameful. But this place was so fantastic I had to take the time to share my experience. I had the distinct pleasure of working with Claire, who is dynamite, by the way. I had called ahead with the type of space I needed, she was awesome and accommodating. I called ahead again the day I went to pick up keys, and she had already printed off everything and was ready to go. She taped her business card to the key cards (which I really thought was genius) and walked me through the unit I was interested in. The whole property was very clean, well-maintained, and safe. Security cameras are EVERYWHERE. I've never used a storage unit before but I had images of Storage Wars in my brain, overpacked and creepy. Not at all what's going on there. They take a lot of pride in keeping their grounds safe and clean. I was very impressed. If you need to store stuff, even temporarily, do it here. Ask for Claire, you will fall in love with her and their property, just like I did!!
