I was referred to go here by someone who caught their restaurant week menu. When we first walked up I was captured by the big bull that was lit on the outside. As soon as we walked in I noticed the ambiance and decor was a bit classy and dim (my type of vibe). The entrance was a little tricky as we had to walk through the restaurant to get to the hostess table. We had reservations, but we had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. I am glad we waited, because she sat us in the perfect area. We started off with the appetizers of oysters, meatballs and crab cakes. The meatballs and oysters were exquisite, the crab cakes could've stayed in the ocean. For the main course we chose the short ribs and the prime rib which was cooked perfect. For desert we got the apple crumb and the cheesecake, delish. The drinks were on point as well, we got the old fashioned and the lychee martini. Both were made perfect! The only thing that I was disappointed about a little was the service. Our server tried his best but the restaurant was busy because it was the last day of restaurant week. 45$ for 3 courses! This place looked so fancy online and boasts a great menu. I really liked the vibe walking in and it was super busy on a Saturday night, almost at capacity. Our waiter was great when we first sat down to get drinks out and to order. However, during dinner service, we had not seen him again. I think we had to flag other staff just to grab him at some point as we needed utensils and refills on water. We also wanted to order more drinks but it just took a long time to get his attention. We were a party of eight and was here to celebrate my birthday. Appetizers we tried: 1) thick cut candied bacon (it was indeed thick, and we did not have the kimchi on the side it was paired with), 2) Double cream Burrata with fig (it was okay, not memorable), 3) Wagyu Meatballs (really disappointing, temperature cook was uneven. One side was hard/tough like burnt and the other side was softer). 4) two orders of lobster bisque (a tad salty, had some lobster pieces, I would've preferred creamier). From finishing the appetizers, we had to wait an entire 55 minutes for our entrees to come out. We were told any moment, two times, but it was not. It took way too long. And at this point, we needed water refills and wanted to order wine. It was very chaotic and we could not find our waiter. Onto to dinner entrees: 1) porterhouse for two (heavily seasoned and again cooked at an inconsistent temperature). A few pieces were almost raw near the bone. 2) two orders of King Prime Rib, most of it was medium rare. But again, as we got closer to the inside and near the fatty sections, it was too rare/raw even. 3) Queen Prime Rib was ok. More medium than medium rare. 4) Filet mignon, which is supposed to be the most tender, it was not. It was over cooked and the meat was dry and grainy. Very disappointed. I do not recommend this at all. Onto desserts: we opted for some cappuccino and just two desserts: two affogato's and an almond cake with citrus. It was fine, but not memorable. We spent almost $900 including tip but it was literally the most disappointing steakhouse experience I've had ever. I do not recommend. Visited on a Saturday night with a reservation for 7pm, party of four. Seated closer to 7:25 PM, a bit of a wait in a tight entry. Restaurant is decorated modern, upscale and has plenty of parking. The menu offers a mix of sushi and steakhouse options. We started with the poke crispy rice special, which was good. The pink lady roll had a lot of competing flavors and the sweet chili sauce overwhelmed the tuna. My lychee martini was ice-cold and delicious -- definitely a highlight of the meal. For mains, we tried the porterhouse and the lamb chops. The porterhouse ($149) was decent but underwhelming compared to other steakhouses we've visited. It was disappointing that sauce was not included and instead offered as a $3 add-on -- a bit off-putting given the steak's high price point. The lamb chops were well-seared but could have used more salt, though that's a personal preference. The roasted fingerling potatoes were greasy and lacked flavor - a miss. Dessert fared better. The creme brulee was spot-on -- creamy with a crisp caramelized top. The beignets were good, though the accompanying white chocolate sauce tasted more like a light creme anglaise and lacked the richness expected. Came here on the last day of restaurant week for LI. Made reservations for 645pm, when we arrived, we waited maybe for 5 minutes and seated. Inside of the restaurant was clean, dim lights, looked classy modern. Our waiter was nice but a bit impatient but I can understand because he looked like he had a lot of tables. Food: We ordered the blue points, filet mignon, braised short ribs, lamb meatballs, crab cakes , dessert we ordered the NY cheesecake and apple crumb (waiter said it was delicious) Also, ordered a old fashioned and lychee mojito which was really good. Lamb Meatballs, Short Ribs, filet Mignon and cheesecake was delicious. However, the crab cakes lacked flavor and were mostly soggy. The Apple Crumb was disappointing and disgusting (waiter lied) I appreciate more if the waiter was truthful, tip would be better than 20%. We love this place because they have really good sushi and steak so it's the perfect place for surf and turf night. It is on the price your side so just make sure you know that before you're headed in but it's a perfect place for a date night a big celebration or just to treat yourself The place is super clean and comfortable. Arriving for an early Sunday dinner around 4pm, there was only one other table taken with some people at the bar. The vibe is warm,. comfortable and elegant. Servers were friendly and on top of everything. We started with the grilled octopus appetizer and it was delicious. The perfect amount of acidity to get our taste buds going. The octopus was tender, served with gigante beans, cherry tomatoes, yellow peppers and arugula. It all worked so well together. On the weekends they serve Prime Rib; either a Queen or King Cut and served with some veggies and mashed potatoes. We shared a king cut and it was perfect. Wonderfully tender and savory, cooked the way it is meant to be. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were well done as well. For dessert we had the apple Tarte Tatin. It was a large portion and perfect for sharing. Not at all sweet with lovely tender apples. I'm cut down the middle when it comes Primehouse. I've been here a few times and there are times when the food is great and others where it really isn't that good. A few items that were terribly off a few times were the burger and the tuna. I don't like to judge something off of 1 bad experience so I came back and tried it again and it still wasn't good. The Calamari is fantastic though and so is the skirt steak. Service is always top notch, never a complaint there. It gets pretty busy on the weekends so arrive early or make sure you have a reservation. Inside is nice, one of the better interiors in the area. Our reservations were at 7:15 and we were not seated until 8 it was very busy , however the owner came and brought sangrias for the waiting patrons as an apology and all was forgiven for the long wait ... once we got seated we were giving a bread basket , sadly for 2 people they only had 3 small pieces of bread I felt they could have added more , however once the waiter arrived we placed our order , the appetizer came out with in minutes we ordered the bacon with Korean BBQ glaze it was phenomenal. Our entrees after they took a long time , maybe close to an hour of us sitting there , I order the porter house steak with a baked potato and my husband got the prime rib that came with mashed potatoes, asparagus and carrots... everything was delicious and for dessert we shared the donuts . First off I want to say the only reason why I'm giving it a 3 star is because the waiter got mad at me for ordering a well done steak. I'm sorry but I can't do anything with beef if it's not well done. She got really annoyed and stormed off and then on top of that my steak was cold lol when I told her why it was cold she said,"you made a mistake ordering that steak" so I'm sure she let it sit on purpose. I asked for a new state and she got mad and came back with another one; I was actually scared she did something to my steak so i didn't eat it and I told her i wasn't going to pay for it. I came here with my family of 8 to celebrate my sister's birthday on a Wednesday afternoon. Our reservation was for 6:30 and the place had a good amount of people but wasn't packed. Pro: some of the appetizer were really tasty such as the Brussels sprout and burrata. The brussel sprouts had a soy/sesame coating that was really good. I ordered the 26oz ribeye and it was tender, juicy and everything you'd want in a steak. Cons: definitely on the expensive side. When we saw the bill, we were not expecting it lol. Also, the thick bacon was on the tougher side and we could've done without it. Overall, I would def recommend this place. I've been to Primehouse many times since their opening and waited this long to review because I needed to amass as much evidence as possible. During the past year I have attended dinner there with friends several times, and each of these times there was the consistency needed to make a fair assessment. Primehouse has a convenient location with ample free parking. One thing I noted when walking in, besides the modern chic decor, was that the music played overhead was freestyle. My inner 80's teenager was thrilled (and for folks who aren't a fan, the volume was perfect--you knew there was music, but you could still talk across the table without shouting and my friends didn't even notice what kind of music it was, I had to point it out to them)! THE GROWS: Steak preparation for my friends at these dinners was inconsistent--resolved immediately, but that's a sticking point with me when it comes to steakhouses or restaurants that highlight their steaks as the center of their menu. My steaks, however, have always been cooked as ordered. One of the appetizers ordered was a special which was described as oysters fried with cornmeal. My friend and I both ordered that and when it arrived, luckily I took the first bite. The oysters were served in their original shell with a layer of smashed avocado with lime and cilantro: my friend, like 50% of people, has an aversion to cilantro because it tastes like soap to him. I warned him and he thanked me for telling him first, but it was something the kitchen should have shared with servers who were listing the specials. THE GLOWS: The prime rib, served only on Fridays and Saturdays, is among best on Long Island. Perfectly seasoned, simplicity being best, and an au jus that is mouthwatering. It comes with potatoes and a vegetable, which for me were mashed potatoes (creamy and smooth and in no need of salt or pepper) and grilled asparagus and carrots. The oyster appetizer (despite the cilantro debacle) was a marriage of flavors and textures that makes this a dish they should add to their rotation. As a lover of cilantro and avocado, it paired perfectly with the preparation of the fried oysters. I had a Sapphire martini (dirty) which was balanced and served promptly and to my liking. Bonus here is that I was offered olives, then offered blue cheese stuffed olives--wowser! That definitely raised the bar for me, as a lover of all things blue cheese. Our server was attentive and helpful and managed a large table without issue. Every course was brought out with deliberate timing so that no one was left waiting while others ate. To round out the meal, my friend and I shared the red velvet cheesecake. If you are a red velvet fan, I highly recommend this dessert. Their dessert portions are big enough to share, except for the gelato which is a one-person serving (and who wants to share ice cream anyway???). In the past I have enjoyed many seafood options they provide as well. For those times you don't want red meat, I highly recommend the halibut entree on their regular menu. I like their creamed spinach, but if you get the prime rib, it already comes with sides, so get it to share if you feel so inclined to order it. BE CAREFUL FOR BAIT & SWITCH if attending Happy Hour. I attended Happy Hour and inquired of the bartender as to what was on the Happy Hour menu. I ordered a Happy Hour Tito's cocktail and I saw the board that said sushi is 1/2 price at Happy Hour. Then the bartender gives me the regular menu and doesn't give me the Happy Hour menu. After ordering 3 expensive sushi rolls, when the check comes I see that I was charged around $30 each for 3 rolls. When I questioned the bill, only then was it explained that the "specialty" rolls are not on Happy Hour. So basically I got tricked into spending around an extra $50. Very disingenuous. read more

For the price point I expected a little better. Maybe it's more of a wine place. The lobster arancini was awesome. Get this one...they did it right. Sex on the beach roll is pretty good, I'd get it again. The fish of the day was cod- I wasn't overly impressed- I'd likely stick with sushi over the cod next time Blueberry crumble desert was awesome. Great portion size and really delicious. Since we came on a Wednesday, for my second course I took advantage of the Lobster Bash summer promotion that is $79 for two courses. I chose the crab sushi roll for my first course and the first lobster option (forget what they called it but it was out of the shell in a delicious buster sauce) for my second course and both were really really good. My husband got the 10oz filet mignon which he really enjoyed and I took a bite of and thought was great. He also kept taking tastes of my dish because of how good it was. Came here on a lazy weekend, Appetizers - Grilled oyster -7/10 very flavorful, only downside it the bread is extremely rough hard to break apart and makes a mess at the table. Lobster Mac 9.5/10 highly recommend. Entree Lamb chops- 8/10 well seasoned, cooked to medium. Yogurt sauce was a great addition to it, there could've been more couscous for 4 large pieces of lamb Blackened Swordfish -8.5/10 well seasoned, pineapple salsa was delicious Service - wait staff could've been a bit more attentive, I had to wait too long to place my drink order. Manager did come out to make rounds and say hello. Ambiance - very lowkey, can be a date night spot or a lunch spot. I booked an early Saturday night slot for a birthday dinner, and the place was already hopping when we arrived. The manager was very friendly and welcoming and we were quickly shown to a spacious table opposite the bar area, which is separated from the dining room by a large divider. My lychee margarita wasn't balanced (tasted like straight tequila with no lychee) but I'll take a strong libation over a weak pour anytime! Passion fruit margarita was delish. Shared the burrata appetizer, a large fresh creamy globe of dairy goodness jazzed up with artichokes, tomatoes and a cheese crisp. Delicious! My Queen Cut prime rib (available only on weekends) was juicy and perfectly cooked medium rare; it was so big that I can't imagine what the larger King Cut must look like! Prime rib came with mashed potatoes and veggies, a good $ deal. Hubby loved his bone-in ribeye as well, said it was tender and scrumptious. Shared the warm chocolate souffle with ice cream for dessert, too sweet for my tastes but ample and well executed. Although the food was amazing, I'm docking a star b/c they forgot to put a birthday candle on my partner's dessert - although his birthday was noted on my Opentable rez and I had called to confirm that. Service dragged after the hordes descended for their "date nights" and other confounding suburban social rites. Around 6:30 the music morphed from a nice 80s track to pounding electronic dance music around 6:30, way too loud and frenetic for my mellow tastes. On balance, however, the excellent food overrode any other concerns and we'll be happy to return to Primehouse on a less busy weeknight. read more

Long Island Restaurant Week review: My wife tells me she has a work thing and will be late. I call my buddy and tell him it's restaurant week, lets hit up Primehouse in Garden City! Walking from the parking lot is a little strange, the table is in the back but in the front? We're seated and order drinks, I started with Mezcal Old Fashioned as a cocktail choice. Mezcal? I'm no longer a fan. It's not Scotch so I don't want to hear about the similarities, I knocked it back and ordered a Cabernet Sauvignon Wine. Restaurant Week on Long Island is a nice way for restaurants to introduce themselves to new customers. They offer 3 dishes that go from mild to wild. There are a few interesting choices to start. If there's on thing I hate, is to see people order from the Restaurant Week menu and stay in a comfort zone. Hamburger? Spaghetti with butter? Heck no! I see Korean style bacon as a choice. I'm a Seoul brother, I want to get busy with bacon! A restaurant week menu offers a variety of choices, if I'm at a steakhouse I'm not ordering flounder. Gimme the meat baby! I figured it's a challenge to cook this cut, I ordered Filet mignon and the waiter was pushing the Cheesecake. Sold! The bacon comes first. A nice thick cut cooked in a Korean style sauce. Oh yeah boyee.. perfect starter. Speaking of perfect, that thick petite cut steak was cooked very well. There was a nice sear on the steak and in the middle was just the way I like it. Good job Primehouse. This waiter was pushing the cheesecake to other tables and we made a joke out of it. It comes to the table and it reminded me of the Boston Cream Pie at the famous Omni Parker House. It's not a New York slice but round. Round?? Had an amazing experience at Primehouse tonight 10/23/21 - Saturday night. In fact, I was here on Wednesday night for a cigar night outside and liked the food and restaurant so much, it drove me to give it a try with my date for dinner. This space used to be a department store I believe and opened in Summer of 2019. It is beautiful inside. A little modern and clubby, with nice touches. This restaurant seems unaffected by the pandemic. The servers were professional, none of the dishes were "sold out", and even getting a table required working around a fully committed dining room. All food was really very good, unique and approachable menu items - like tuna tartare nachos and general Tso Brussels sprouts. Note: all sauce is on side, especially anything with spice. The entree sized sushi rolls are interesting too. The Beignet-type fritter was ok for a dessert. Not my fav. The gelato sounded really interesting, but I had my fill. Perfect place to satisfy the sushi and steak itch under one roof, and local-ish. read more

We had a reservation and had to wait a few minutes. We ordered the burrata and rosco shrimp tempura to start, the spinach ravioli and skirt steak for our mains and a side of fries. Don't waste your time. The first time we went with two other couples. The service was terrible and the meal was good but not great. One of our party had several things wrong with his meal and they wound up comping it. My wife and I decided to give a second chance, big mistake. We waited over 40 minutes before letting us know our table was ready and they led us to a high top. Not what I reserved and not what I wanted after waiting over 40 minutes. I told the hostess we were leaving and when I did, she said she had a table ready. Too little too late. She tells me, "We have people who have paid their bill but are just sitting around and we can't ask them to leave." What? I understand catering to your customers to a point but to have customers waiting for that long that are about to drop three to four hundred dollars on a meal is unacceptable. When dinner is over, it's time to clear the table for other customers. We got the sizzling marinated skirt steak ($44), organic roasted chicken ($34), pan seared salmon ($39), the halibut ($54) and a yellow tuna roll ($22) Every entree dish we got was paired with a sauce that was the most delicious and flavorful part of the dish. The vegetables and sides that came with it were also super good and cooked to perfection. The meat, however, wasn't cooked too great. The sushi roll wasn't too great and fresh tasting either. It might be because it's from a steakhouse, and they might not major in the fresh sashimi category. Maybe I'm being a bit picky, but I just expected better quality for the price and considering it was a bit of a fine dining experience. The waiter also never really came to our table to refill out waters, maybe because we were seated far back at a corner? Was slightly disappointing since I thought this was a fine dining experience. Ok I went here for a birthday dinner for a friend and It was not bad. But to be fair at this price point I'd like to be able to say more than "not bad". The sushi was good, yellowtail carpaccio good , lamb chops good. The drinks good also. Ambiance good. The biggest issue was there was a couple sitting behind us that ended up vomiting under the table during dinner. Strange I know. We told the server and he said "oh really, I didn't see anything". Mind you our bill was over $1k for 8 people. And that's all that he said. Aside from that, the service was lacking a little something for a $$$$ restaurant. Needed to ask for water, lack of attentiveness, took our menu and needed to ask for another before even ordering, they didn't know who ordered what etc. Just all in all I've been to better restaurants at lower price points and these details were excellent so that's just my preference. I like the look and feel of the this place it is a nice setting for a business lunch or a romantic dinner date. This was a wonderful place to celebrate my cousin's 80th birthday. The food was excellent! Nice choice of salads, and plenty of options to choose from including beef, pork, seafood and vegan for main course. We were a party of eight and the staff was very attentive and friendly. I loved the 80's music playing in the background which made it a great family dinner place. There was another slightly larger party with guests ranging from toddlers to grandparents. We had a good time and they looked like they were having a great time too and even joined in singing happy birthday to our patriarch. I have been to this establishment a handful of times and I have to say last Friday will be the last time. The first time I was in love with the aesthetics and the service but still didn't like the seating for two people. The tables are so small you practically have to hold your glass if you order two entrees and two sides. My husband loved the steak I had the mushrooms ravioli it was nice. Second time we were a party of three so seating was much better food quality and service was consistent with the first time. This last time was just so disappointing Again we were a party of two so of course we were placed at the tiny table however this time the table was located right next to a booth and we were so close I could literally read their menu, smell their perfume and be blinded by the flashlight on their phone. I started with a salad, it was ok overly dressed but fine. My husband's steak was a bit chewy this time, the service was very slow and absent for most of our visit. The restaurant is nice, the ambiance is warm and not loud. The service is friendly but slow. We ordered the Brussels sprouts and spicy tuna nachos for appetizers which were both very good but the tuna was not spicy. For the main course I had the filet mignon and asked it to be cooked well done which was made perfect to my liking. It came with roasted mushrooms which were delicious but a bit oily. My boyfriend had the skirt steak which was even more delicious than the mignon and tender but small. It came with mashed potatoes which were good and not too buttery. The side of French fries with truffle oil were crunchy and not soggy. We got the beignets for dessert and it was the best thing we ate the whole dinner. The caramel sauce was much yummier than the chocolate because it was sweeter. I would only come back here for their beignets. read more

Great service. Tomahawk was like a 6/10. At it was under cooked at first. I loved the dessert. We started off at the bar with some drinks and then went to a table. Our server was attentive and very kind. I would go back. The ambiance is nice. The restaurants are small in that area but I enjoyed the darkness. read more

This used to be one of our go-to lunch places. They had a great fixed price lunch and the food was good. We went today and were so disappointed. They changed the fixed price menu and all our favorites were no longer on it. I went with something off the regular menu, a prime rib sandwhich. I've had steak sandwhiches there plenty of times, and this one looked like what was formerly their French dip. It was so bad. The au jus was so so so so salty. What's worse was the horseradish sauce on the sauce was overpoweringly lemony. I scraped the sauce off and discovered the prime rib had no seasoning at all. It may be the most disappointed steak sandwhich I've ever had (and $33!!!!). My husband had the grilled chicken club. It was nothing to write home about. Very disappointing. read more
