Generally I love Primos. Great food, nice service. A few days ago my husband went there and ordered in person. He came home with an extra Italian hoagie instead of the turkey he'd ordered (for me). He called, they were attentive and apologetic and offered to re-make, so he drove from Villanova to Ardmore to pick it up. When we got home, somehow they had made ANOTHER Italian instead of the turkey he'd ordered. I then called back to explain we were not coming back again, but I wanted them to know because perhaps whoever was making the hoagies didn't know that turkey (not ham and salami) go in a TURKEY hoagie. The person who answered was not very helpful or apologetic, which is fine- we truly just wanted them to know so they could figure out how to make a correct order. Hoagies were warm, limp, soggy, & TASTELESS. Plenty of bland meat on my "Sharp Italian" but a tiny amount of bland cheese. Threw away half of it -- $7.50 into the garbage. Delightfully delicious. I ordered the Chicken Diablo and the Dirt Pudding and it was all so good. The Diablo was flavorful and spicy. I ordered it with onions and they put a good amount of onions, not a wimpy amount like some places. And the dirt pudding was freshly made, sweet, and oh so good. The people behind the counter were great however, somehow GrubHub in the primo website got the order and there's no mention of GrubHub in the order I paid $17 per hoagie when it should be seven dollars for hoagie day. Again, the people were great at Primo. I will go there again, but do not or I shall say be careful when ordering online so GrubHub doesn't get their grubby hands on it because they they inflate the prices when it's a pick up it's not even a delivery order. The sandwiches blow away anything you can get at the Wawa, but you do pay the price. They use quality Thumann's lunch meats and have really good rolls. My favorite is the Crusher, pepper turkey, Cooper sharp, with pepper shooters. For hot sandwiches I like the Bada Boom, chicken cutlet long hots and Cooper sharp(I change it out for the provolone). The Diablo sandwiches are also good if you like it spicy. They do offer a non seeded roll if that's your preference. Sandwich prices are roughly 10,15,30 for small, medium, large sandwiches. The medium is good for a meal, but it is expensive. Definitely a hoagie upgrade and really good for a chain, happy to have them nearby. Sandwiches are great but I do NOT need attitude with my food. Will not order from there again if a certain surly millennial on her phone( while she is working) is still there. I'm saddened to write this review because I've been a Primo Hoagies fan for years, but our last couple of experiences have been disheartening. There were mistakes in the order (requested lettuce and tomato were missing) and the preparation was a mess. For example, in wrapping the hoagie, they shoved the wax paper inside the sandwich. So in order to eat it, I had to pull the greasy paper out, which was not only a mess, but spilled the filling out of the roll. When you add the fact that the hoagie costs nearly $2 per inch, it's just not worth it. read more

I'm shocked that this place only has 3.5 stars. To my mind, this place has some of the best hoagies in the area. The bread is pretty much perfect-- not too soft and not too chewy. The meats are very high quality and served up in ample portions, and when it comes to cheese you can't beat thick slices of sharp provolone. Finally, they get extra stars for serving consistently delicious long hot peppers soaked in spiced olive oil. Service has always been fantastic and the owner/manager who always seems to be there is such a nice guy. God, I love these sandwiches. I think Primos hoagies are fantastic. Regardless of the location, it's hard to get a bad hoagie from this franchise. However, this location is especially great. I have been coming maybe once every 3 months for about 5 years and every time I go in the staff at this location is extremely courteous and friendly. The location is very clean and the food always comes out quickly and very fresh. Most times I am in there the owner is working but even when I have been in and he is not in the store the staffs demeanor is no different. I have gone to many primos locations and most are great but this location stands out due to the people who work there. Keep up the good work Ardmore Primos, your efforts are not unnoticed. read more

Usually Primo is one of the best hoagies. However, the one order I have received here was not good. The 9" roll was stale. Usually the roll is what is good about Primo. But for to pay $15 for a hoagie and get a stale roll is very disappointing. Also, the stuffed peppers are not worth it. Over $8 for three very small peppers. read more

Primo's is one of those East Coast based sandwich franchises that I have been meaning to try for years! But since I've always managed to find a Paesano's, Jake's Sandwich Board, Sarcone's, George's; and other sandwich treasure troves within walking distance from a location while I lived in Philly; it was just a location that always passed me by. But since Subway and Wawa just don't compete with what Primo's has to offer, I finally found my chance to savor one of their sandwiches within a suburban strip mall. It took awhile to find this out, because compared to the other options Primo's does have some occasional wonky hours (The 4:30pm close on a Sunday has been my undoing on a couple occasions!). But upon first entry my mind became blown by the number of sandwich varieties that they had to offer! whether its one of their classic Italian options, a hot sandwich with broccoli rabe or Buffalo chicken, or a spicy Diablo, they have a minimum of 3 hoagie available to tantalize the taste buds of us all! When I first go to a hoagie shop I have to grab a classic Italian variation to see how well they hold up. And the Sicilian packed the punches of dry cured capacola, Genoa salami, and SHARP provolone (with extra hot peppers for my love of spiciness!). Add in the perfect hoagie bread and it was excellent in every bite that I quickly devoured. I'm normally wary of franchises by comparison, but considering you can find such hoagie goodness within multiple locations across 6 states; I can't consider this one a bad thing. read more

I purposely drove out of my way, because the primo hoagies closer to my house is the worst I've ever seen. This one is trying hard to top them. Eagles season is finally back, so I wanted to get a sandwich to split with my wife at the stadium. I asked for tomatoes on the side and if they could wrap it in clear plastic. They told me they don't have clear plastic and can only wrap in their standard wrappers. Ok, you were a four star place, but now you are three. Then I get my sandwich to leave. No tomatoes on the side or on the sandwich. I wrapped the sandwich on my own and while in our seats, my wife said they forgot to add another condiment, but I told her it was there, just a light amount. I've heard alot of talk about primos hoagies but never went out of my way to try them. after all, great hoagies aren't hard to find in philly or its suburbs, right? so, a few nights ago, I decided to give them a try. i read alot of mixed reviews about the ardmore location but decided to find out for myself. I chose to order online for pickup. the first thing I noticed was the high prices. a half of a hoagie should not cost $8, especially when a whole hoagie is $10. lol. in any case, the pickup was fast and easy. first thing i noticed was lack of toppings. they did in fact add everything I selected but just not enough. their sesame seeded bun seemed a bit thick and dry. maybe they're better earlier in the day. not sure. overall, the food was satisfactory but, not phenomenal. i would definitely eat there again but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so. there are just too many other options. read more

Wow! I am shocked at the reviews here! I moved back to this area in 2017 and have been ordering hoagies from these folks for numerous parties I have had! My friends are psyched when I say I am serving Primo hoagies. The roll is so soft and tasty, as well as whatever hoagie I order (Italian, Tuna, etc.) and they are not cheap with the contents in the hoagie. The meat and cheeses are fresh. They make the hoagies fast and are pleasant when I check out - they provide points for purchases! Yeah, it is a small, typical deli style place, but it is clean and they have a TV on if you want to wait! One time they forgot to add one hoagie and the owner offered to deliver it to my house cause my guests had already arrived for the party. That is great customer service!! I also pick up a couple of containers of the DIRT PUDDING when I am there.......Mmmm so delicious! Thanks guys, you da best! read more

Well, I've only been here once, because after my first visit I swore I would never go back. We called ahead to order some hoagies on a Saturday afternoon, they said 15 min, I gave them 20 for good measure. I took my toddler with me, thinking I would just slip in and grab our order. No such luck! We waited another 25 minutes for our order to be finished, while people who walked in left with their food before we got ours. Very frustrating. When I asked why we were still waiting when we called ahead, I was rudely told by the "manager" (I guess) that they were very busy. No apology. Today was one of those days when I wasn't in the mood to throw money away just to have lunch.. I walked into Chipotle, and was just depressed looking at the choices... Looked across the street at Hummus, and would have been pissed if I crossed all of that traffic to see another so-so menu... So I went with the safe choice and walked into Primo... The people there were welcoming, but not overly friendly... I wanted to have a seat to eat, but their dining room consisted of a few two seat tables next to the bathroom... I'll pass on dining in... Primo's menu will drain you of any ability to comprehend more than a few things at one time if you don't narrow what type of hoagie you want before looking at it... Today I had a Schwarzie.... It consisted of corned beef, swiss cheese, cole slaw, and russian dressing... I gotta say that it was pretty damn good... And it was a nice change from the usual Italian, turkey, and roast beef subs that I would normally buy elsewhere... The subs here can't be described as one of the best... but they also don't disappoint when it comes to taste and freshness... $8 and some change for a hoagie usually equals a decent lunch special at a local restaurant or diner.. Slightly better than Wawa hoagies but still not as good as other mom-and-pop places, Primos is an acceptable chain alternative, even if the prices are a little high. So yeah I said it - Primo hoagies are slightly better than Wawa hoagies. It's not by much though, and you're paying extra for that slightly higher quality. The service is somewhere around Subway-esque (polite and efficient but lacking the personality of other places), and it's better to call ahead than risk a long line at the counter. I even like this place better than Capriotti's, as Primo offers much more options including several spicy hoagie options (The Diablos). I'll certainly be back. read more

I had originally posted a five-star rating of this Primo's location. However, after a number of disappointing experiences, I've had to rethink my rating. On August 22 I placed an order for a Cheese deluxe, substituting Mozzarella for the Swiss (who gets Swiss on a cheese sandwich anyway? I mean it's a nice complement to ham and turkey but that's about it for Swiss.). "Everything?" the guy on the phone asked. "Lettuce, tomato, onion? Yes," I responded. I walked, in the rain, to pick up my sandwich (car in the shop), only to return home with a CHEESE SANDWICH with nothing whatsoever on it. Three kinds of cheese slapped between a hoagie roll. No mayo no oil no lettuce, tomato or onion. No nuffin. I called and spoke with an employee, but, not wanting to traipse back in the rain for another hoagie, I asked that the manager call me back. Great hoagies are very good. Their Sharp provolone makes a difference better than the tasteless regular cheese. They travel very well. The menu offers dozens of great hoagies. They have chips, rice pudding and peppers all good. They finally deliver but stops at 2pm. Shame it stops early. Some. Promos has precut meats. Not what I want. They now make STEAK SANDWICHES and they aren't as good as you'd hope. Not enough meat. Their available at this location but not all serving cheese steaks. Remember the great bread makes a big difference. The small sandwich doesn't have the sesame roll isn't as good. The good bread available makes the difference. The place looks clean and is a must. Some of the workers are spaced out but you'll love the sandwich. Don't worry about absence of workers who don't know what menu means and kind of put off. But it's a hoagies joint. NO FRENCH FRIES. ITS A hoagie JOINT they'll sell many chips. Ask about delivery. Cheese Steaks need some work. But Philly has many good hoagies and steak sandwiches. Just fix steak sandwich. I don't want to like Primo Hoagies. I have actively tried to find a better sandwich around these parts and other than one contender, Primo Hoagies still reign supreme. We have ordered for a few games or for a quick lunch. Recently when my Dad was in town for an Eagles game, I picked up an order so we could tailgate. It took us 3 hours to get to the game, so the tailgate had to wait. Even after hours of sitting in the cooler, the sandwiches were still good. It is not an everyday type of meal since they do cost a pretty penny, but if you want to make the game a little more special, give them a call. They never disappoint. read more

As there is a new owner at this location I wanted to be sure they received their just due. Having come from a recent poor experience at a different Primo location (just check my reviews), I went to this location today, 8/12/12. I called ahead to order and from the moment a very pleasant employee answered the phone to the second I walked out the door with food in hand, this was one of the best experiences I've had, not only with a Primo location but with takeout food in general. It was an additional pleasant surprise when I got home to eat my Audiablo hoagie (mmm, spicy turkey and roast beef!) and found it nicely packed with the proper amount of meat and fillings. Having visited here when under the previous ownership it's obvious there has been a big change for the better. It's reflected not only in the employees but in the product itself. I don't think I need to delve deeply into the actual types of sandwiches offered or a full description of my own meal. If you're familiar with Primo, you know their product. If you're not, I can't recommend a better location to try your first Primo hoagie! read more

We picked up a couple of hoagies from there the other day. They were excellent! The rolls are especially good. One caveat though...they slice all the meats and cheese to order, which can be time consuming, so I would call ahead to place an order. Try getting a hoagie, a really good one at that - not at Subway anywhere else at lunchtime on during the week or even the weekend in less than 15 minutes. It is impossible.
