Every once in a while, you'll find an experience that just makes a trip entirely worth it. As you look as different dining options, don't miss Primrose, sit outside, request Milan, and take all of his recommendations. We already had an idea of things we wanted to try, but his infectious enthusiasm has us returning to try his favorites in the next couple of days. Things we loved, the Amazonia drink, Truffle Honey Butter, Oysters, Grouper, Linguini ai Fruitti di Mare, and the Limoncello Cheesecake. All of these things were fabulous, but the service and attention to detail from Milan was what stood out. Headed back for the Blue crab fritters and Henderson butter cake....he swears on his job, this dessert is life changing...we shall see. UPDATE: We went back for another Amazonia and THE HENDERSON BUTTER CAKE. And now we spent the rest of the night researching techniques and recipes on how we can execute this dessert back home. When we consider the next place to go for a quick weekend get away, I have a feeling this cake will pull us back to Destin. Service is very attentive here, they also were very accommodating when we asked to come in 30 mins earlier than our scheduled dinner reservation. We started with the calamari and it was mildly overcooked but the portion size was very large. My husband had the Butter Poached Blue Crab Natale and it was very good. I had the Linguine ai Frutti di Mare; most of the seafood was mildly overcooked and the dish overall was mildly bland (that's fine because I can just add salt) but the amount of seafood was decent. We had the Henderson Butter Cake and it was warm (almost too hot in the middle) and very enjoyable. In terms of ambience, it gives off classy resort vibes but most people were mostly in casual dress here. Side note, they don't do sushi/rolls here, you have to go to the Rooftop Bar also located in the Henderson Resort if you want that. Overall, pricy but a decent amount of food. Is it one of the best Italian/american places? No, but it's convenient if you're staying at the hotel and want a nice white table cloth restaurant. read more

Primrose was a truly fantastic experience. Located inside the Henderson Beach resort the restaurant itself is very classy, featuring a very large dining room area and also offers outdoor seating as well. But from the moment we walked in to the time we left, the hospitality and service was impeccable. We felt very welcomed and taken care of the entire time. A huge shout-out to our server, Sherice who was absolutely superb. Not to mention we shared the same last name and the same love for cooking (especially Oxtails)! Overall, very disappointing New Year's Eve dinner. We had a 4 course, pre-set menu. The appetizers were good (but very small in quantity). The main entree was atrocious. Ordered the fish since we were at the beach, and it was exceptionally "fishy"... to the point where I couldn't eat it. The Wagyu beef was delicious, but it is definitely an acquired taste. Dessert was an intricate (albeit small) pastry with ganache. As far as the service, very misogynistic and the waiter hardly addressed the female at the table. this restaurant was very cute and beachy, i loved the look of it. the complimentary bread was so good, and it had lots of variety. the actual meal was only alright. it was definitely too expensive for what we recieved. i got the pasta dish (pictured) and it was good, but it wasn't great. it tasted like a cross between nachos and mac and cheese. in my opinion, not worth $40. the sushi was pretty good, i would recommend that! overall, it was expensive and i wasn't too impressed by the food. read more

This should be addressed especially since this has been mentioned by several other reviewers. American Asian fusion, they serve sushi here but give us disposable chopsticks...? We just returned from a 5-night stay at the Henderson Beach Resort and ate several times at Primrose and Horizons. I didn't take any photos of the breakfasts but I remember that we had avocado toast, breakfast tacos, Belgian waffles, a bacon/egg/hash brown bowl, and the smoked salmon and bagel. The breakfasts were all tasty and reasonably priced considering the resort. I think the waffles and bagel and lox were the best dishes. The cappuccino machine was "broken." Service was excellent with a shout out to Donna. We had one dinner at Primrose and it really wasn't very good. We had had a late lunch so we just had two mains. My wife had the market special that was mahi mahi. It came with broccolini and mashed potatoes. It also came with a napa slaw and some kind of remulade. The mahi was cooked to a good degree of doneness although it was very pale for a grilled item. The mash was fine and veg had been cooked properly. The slaw was bland and wilted quickly on the hot plate. I did not care for the remulade. I had the seafood pasta. It was terrible. The squid ink cavatelli were hard, tasteless lumps. It was in a very salty sauce. The seafood had been cooked well though. The squid was as tender as you can cook it. We hardly ate any of it. To Primrose's credit, they comped the dish. We got dessert in the hotel rooftop bar. We shared the key lime pie. This was not the greatest version I have had. It has a coconut/graham crust and, I think some merengue. The key lime custard was weak tasting. Drinks are very expensive at the Rooftop Bar. Yelp doesn't list Horizons separately. We ate there several times. I remember the pizza that I liked except I thought there was too much cheese and I like cheese. The pink shrimp (cocktail) are expensive but very good with a potent horseradish cocktail sauce. My husband and I were staying at the all adult Henderson Park Inn (across the street from The Henderson) and didn't have transportation so I made all of our dinner reservations nearby so we could walk. We were SO happy we tried this place on the second night in Destin so we could repeat it during the week!! First of all let me say that Chef Gary Palm is a super nice guy! If you'd like to talk to him he will come to your table and visit. He's very personable and gives his kitchen staff high praise as well. The first night we sat at a table in the dining room. We ordered a combination of sushi and other menu items like the osobucco. Everything was very good but the sushi was amazing!! The sushi chef is highly talented and chef Palm gives him free reign when people order off the menu. The second time we went back we just sat at the sushi bar and told the sushi chef the types of fish we liked as in tuna, spicy peppers, etc and he created the best sushi dishes we've ever eaten! And that is saying a lot; We love sushi and have had it at many incredible places. This guy is so good putting flavors together. And they were beautiful too!! If you're ever in Destin you must GO!! The customer service was great. Jennifer was friendly and attentive. That I would give a five star review for. Unfortunately the food left something to be desired. I had the filet and it just lacked flavor. At $50 and equivalent prices to a great steakhouse, I expected more. Nothing we had just stood out, not bad, just not real good either. We elected to eat out or at Horizon the rest of our stay. Even more disappointing was we chose not to order desert. They sounded great, but for the price and when we saw the portion size being brought to others, we didn't see value no matter how good it could have been. We were staying in Henderson and we did a booking on their prime restaurant i.e. Primrose. We reached primrose on our booking time and we were seated quickly. The ambience and decor of the restaurant is amazing and top class. We were greeted by our server who handed us the menus. From the drinks menu we ordered The H and for food we ordered Crispy Cauliflower and sushi ie shrimp tempura roll. This restaurant is known for their sushis and they offer amazing sushis. The service was quick and in less than 10 minutes we had our food served. We loved our food and the food was delicious and finger licking. One of the best cauliflowers we had. We were speechless. The sushi was also amazing. After our dinner we asked for desert menu and from desert we ordered Flourless Chocolate Cake. The chocolate cake was amazing and it was made from black chocolate. Everything is done so well at Henderson Beach Resort it's a sight to see! As far as the restaurant as a foodie I wasn't way over impressed with the food which is why it received a 4 but it was all done well just not out of this world flavor profiles. The pricing is very reasonable and the menu is super diverse and fun! My husband's osso Buco was the best and executed perfectly. I loved the biscuits and the yellowtail appetizer. Just left Primrose and wow talk about a total disappointment. Ordered Cesar salad and it was nothing but wilted lettuce (pic below). The waiter never showed up again until the end of the meal so we had to get refills from the runner delivering the entrees. My friend ordered rare filet and only about half of it was actually seasoned. You could tell the top part of the steak had been cooked more under the heat lamp. The waiter finally came to check on us and we told him about the issues with the meal and he just kind of nodded and half apologized walking away. We ate here for breakfast the 5 days we stayed at the resort. We opted to order off the menu as we are not really fans of buffets. The yogurt was very good, the omelettes were good and the scrambled eggs ok. This would have been a 4 star review, however there were many things that need to be addressed with some training. Unless we specified differently, the English muffins arrived barely warm, not even close to toasted. When we did ask, they arrived untoasted and we had to flag someone down to ask for them to be toasted. When the server came by to ask us how things were, we mentioned the English muffins and how we sent them back. She said "ok" in a very cheery voice - no indication she might speak to someone to make sure it does not happen again. And of course it did, the next morning. We asked for the bacon to be crispy but that request was not honored. One morning the breakfast plates had the condiment cups on the actual plate. These really should be set on the table and not along with the food. I know that sounds picky but they claim this is a "dining experience" so really need to get the finer details accurate to meet that description. We also watched a server dump the basket of silverware on the floor. Accidents happen, however, what was disappointing to see were 2 other servers just standing there chatting, not making any effort to help pick up. The table next to ours had uneaten food on it and the signed check the entire time we were there eating. Lastly, sitting outside has a beautiful view but something needs to be done about those chairs! Every time someone got up, adjusted, went to the buffet, etc - the loudest dragging screeching noise would erupt. This gets quite annoying when it happens throughout the entire meal. I suspect the servers are used to it, but someone needs to pay more attention to these things if they are interested in getting more than 3 stars. read more

Although not very crowded, the restaurant was incredibly noisy (many tables had children, but I don't think that was the sole cause).
