While my mat leave was NOT a vacation, neither is taking care of my little one, and doing the research to figure out if daycare, nanny or aupair fits the bill for your family is such a personal decision, not everything is one size fits all. Our research started when I was 6 months pregnant and I started touring several daycares in the area along with Montessori schools to just get an idea what the heck we were dealing with, securities instilled, and how daycare works. We went to tour 3 places, all of which I had first hand feedback from existing coworkers from all places. Primrose's director Ms. Artus shared we should even look up all the daycares on the Texas state site to check for infractions of which we found none. :) yay. Plus a short drive from our home makes it an easy pick up and drop off. First thing is, while costs are high, this is not something we were afraid of when we factored in the many amenities and learnings we expected from a daycare, the professionals that know how to take care of our LO better than we can with some tips and tricks, and also wanting something more than a daycare where your kiddo just goes through the motions day by day. It's only been 3 weeks, and I'm still on my maternity leave but as I re-enter the workforce next week, and leave my babe for realsies, I trust he's in the best of hands, I've dropped him off and popped in on occasion, and I've always seen him shown with love. So many other perks include, him socializing with other babies. They change him very frequently and can even examine his bowel movements and ask if he has breast milk since we do nurse our little one at home but give daycare formula since my pumping milk doesn't produce enough. I love how attentive and observant they are without us knowing what to share. He has his own crib, collage of people who love him and play area and I love how I get to see all the little ones grow and learn along side our babe. We are the first in our friends to have a baby so it's hard to get kiddos for him to engage with even as a newborn or even know how to do it all. Don't fret, the primrose staff is super helpful and SO good at what they do. I commend Ms. Mary of the young infants class and all the staff assistants that help. I love seeing our little one grow and learn so many things that I would struggle to even think of except for survive, go on stroller walks and naps. They've instilled structure, helped me understand as a first time parent what to look for, extra outfits, diaper cream, and all the things I never knew for taking care of my baby. It honestly feels like my own little village of caretakers that watch out for my LO, and this genuinely can really show how much that means to me. They've got so many happy kiddos that fill the halls and the community really seems great from our short time here, the calendar is filled with activities and field trips the different age groups take so you know what fun they're in for. Parents night out is a thing too, whoo hoo! Love it so far, and we hope our son thrives and grows well here for ages to come. I look forward to updating as he moves into the next classrooms so I can share our growth and experience but we love it here.

The Teachers and staff have always made us feel welcomed and was so happy to see my daughter back in the school! She is always happy to be there, which is a good sign. I love that we are updated throughout their day with activities that they are doing and sometimes we get pictures and videos. Their curriculum is what sold us on taking our daughter there, we didn't want just a "day care", we wanted her to be learning to prepare her for school. I've also attended several tours when searching for a suitable school and only considered the highest rated ones in my area each time. Please understand that my son and I had a wonderful experience at each school. That being said, Primrose has exceeded all expectations and impresses me beyond words. I cannot begin to describe how incredibly thankful I am for my son to be able to attend this school. The administrative staff, Kortnee, Juli, and Michelle, are absolutely wonderful to interact and coordinate with. The communication here is impeccable. Any incident or concern is immediately addressed with a phone call. They are prompt to respond to messages through the app or email as well as discussing any matters in person. Each day we are greeted by name with a welcoming smile and a "good morning" or a sweet "goodbye". Each staff member fosters a relationship with every child to a point that makes me wonder how they're able to retain such quality, personal knowledge of every single child. Their genuinity sincerely warms my heart and helps gains my trust. THE TEACHERS, OH MY GOODNESS, THE TEACHERS HERE ARE OUTSTANDING. The morale is reinforced with physical notes that acknowledge and praise every student's improvement seen throughout the year. They are authentic, hand written, and personalized for each child. The classroom is spacious and well maintained with many different areas for the students to learn and play. Okay, back to the teachers. Ms. Monte is just absolutely wonderful. I have no other way to describe her. She is so, so caring, patient, and kind. Not only with the students, but with the parents as well. She shows genuine care for each child, something I couldn't be more thankful for. I truly couldn't ask for a better authoritative figure and role model for my son. Her demeanor makes apparent how much she truly enjoys her job and she puts her whole heart into helping the kids learn. The twinkle in her eye and excitement in her voice when she speaks about and interacts with them makes me tear up. I've never once seen her without a contagious smile on her face. This is the only person, not just teacher, I've ever met that shares the same parenting style as me. She consistently displays a level of emotional intelligence that is rare to encounter. She speaks to the children with respect and understanding and helps guide them into thinking with moral and logical reasoning. Ms. Monte does not limit her responsibilities to academic education, she also forms their character by modeling how every human should act. If every teacher were like her, then I know for a fact future generations would thrive and redefine societal standards. I know this may come off as a bit extreme, but what I say is what I truly feel and believe. I couldn't ask for a better influence for my son. Mr. Flores is such a joy to have. He, too, always has a bright smile on his face and tells me how my son's day went with detailed knowledge and a cheerful demeanor. His written notes and personal interactions show recognition to my son's progress which increases his confidence and encourages him to pursue new challenges. Mr. Flores does an excellent job fueling my son's desire to learn. He is also very kind and patient with the students and his studious conduct projects onto the children in a productive way. I am so glad he is part of my child's daily life. Ms. Kaitlyn is great as well! I don't get to interact with her as much, but she has always been wonderful and attentive every time I see her in the classroom. I'm sure you know how kids can be when asking about their day. I try to keep questions open-ended to allow my son to think and elaborate on the details and regardless, he always replies with "I don't know" or, when asked what he learned, he responds with "nothing". This is the only school that has caused him to talk about his day without me even having to ask. Not only that, but he also excitedly and proudly tells me about what he learned that day. We talk about his social interactions, his education, his thoughts and feelings, and whatever else he feels is worth mentioning. I absolutely love hearing all of it and it pleases me to know how much he genuinely enjoys attending this school. As a mother, I couldn't ask for anything more than this school already provides. An update! My son…read more**really** enjoyed his preK class with Ms Alicia. He adores her and she really has his best interest at heart. I saw first hand how she is able to tend to children based on their own particular needs and how she wants them to learn and grow in her care. My son is on his second day of kindergarten, though he is in Stepping Stone's after school program. As soon as I picked him up from his first day in the after school program, he wanted to go see Ms Alicia. I can't fully express how much Stepping Stone influenced our family in a very positive way, made my son happier about going to preK - so much so that he was sometimes sad when it was the weekend and he wouldn't see Alicia or his friends. Over the summer, he took swimming lessons with Stepping Stone and he learned SO much. I really enjoyed all of his artwork and how prepared he is for kindergarten. Ms Alicia really helped us prepare him for school - both academically and socially. I cannot say enough good things about our experience in Ms Alicia's class. The front office staff is kind and I always enjoy seeing them in the morning. Ms Connie is very kind and I'm certain we will enjoy Brodie's time in the after school program, where he is dropped off and picked up from school and is offered play time after school as well as homework time.

My son has never complained about anything and actually asks if I can let him go to Stepping Stone instead of being an early pick-up on days that I get off work early. I sent him to the 'Y" summer camp this year. They have a lower cost and more activities, such as paintball, daily swim, rock climbing, gaga ball, etc.. Even with all of this, after several weeks my son didn't like it as much since they were outside for almost the entire day and he said he missed his old friends. My daughter just turned 2 and has been attending for almost a year now. She's been in 2 different classes during that time (older infant and then toddler) and we have never had a disappointing day. The director Manju is so kind and helpful. The front desk/admin Annette is warm and welcoming everyday. My little girl always gives her a big hug. Our teacher Angela is a superhero. I don't know how she does all she does with these toddlers! On top of that, the company has an amazing app, cameras to check in on your child, the teachers send photos and updates throughout the day and the meals and snacks always look so yummy. There are "theme" days (today was wear your favorite Disney!), curriculum, school wide events (hello Trunk or Treating and Thanksgiving lunch!) and parent teacher conferences to keep parents engaged and in the loop. On more than one occasion my older daughter would ask if I could come pick her up later because she was having so much fun. Now that I'm finished with school, going back to work and finding childcare for my youngest was a no brainer - why would we go anywhere else? My hope is to keep him here as long as possible! I'm so thankful the open communication I have with their staff, and their policies during everything that's happened since last March have been easy to understand, and appreciated. Their director Joyce is very hands on, and helpful in meeting our childcare needs. Other staff members have been so kind, and I love that my kids love going to their classes. I first placed her at the Brushy Creek campus, because they have classrooms for babies. The price seemed steep for just feeding and changing diapers, but again, I figured you pay for quality. Well... I was surprised by how quickly she was developing. She started walking at 10 months old, communicated her needs through sounds and sign language, and got along well with other kids. The benefits of socializing her early were obvious. I started thinking there might be more to Montessori than I originally thought. It wasn't until we transferred her to the Cypress Creek campus, closer to home, that I truly realized how wrong I had been about Montessori. At Guidepost Montessori at Cypress Creek, I saw just how incredible the Montessori method can be when done right. I need to begin this review by clarifying a misunderstanding I had when enrolling my kid at this…read moreschool. It is NOT named after a dinosaur. In fact, there are no dinosaurs named Montessori, Montessorous, Montessori Rex, Montessoridon, or even Montessoridactyl. I think Montessori is Italian, actually. Next obvious question: Were all dinosaurs Italian? This is hotly debated amongst anthropologists even today. My theory is that yes, and that what actually killed the dinosaurs was not a meteor from space, but rather a meteor-sized meatball. All evidence is forthcoming once I can find a scientific journal that will publish my thesis. Anyway, back to the review of the school. Hold on to your butts... My kid has been attending Guidepost at Cypress Creek for about a year and a half. He started in the toddler classroom and is now in Children's House. (They call it a house, but it's actually a classroom. I don't know why. When you reach out to admissions, you can use that as an icebreaker. You're welcome). My partner, my kid, and I have all been very pleased with both classrooms. Montessori schools treat their students as fully capable people with their own agency. This sounds like a recipe for disaster, but somehow they make it work. When you watch a classroom in full swing, it's like a well-oiled machine. The students are working either independently or cooperatively. They are cleaning up after themselves, being respectful towards others, and are highly attentive towards their classwork. They are very clever girls and boys. This is a testament to the excellent guides (their term for teachers, there's your second icebreaker). It sounds impossible but, uh, the guides find a way. The administration is also wonderful. They are pro-active with their communications, and we always feel in the loop. Almost every day there are optional extra-curricular activity options on the school grounds, which is super convenient. Things like art, gym, and soccer. The school is a great size. It's small enough that it feels like a real community. I think all of the guides know our kids' name, even if they aren't in his class, and they know both my partner and me. There are frequent classroom-wide and school-wide events, both in person and remote. There's an outdoor playground, of course, and a garden area that gets frequent use. All of the children participate in maintaining it, which is cool. Tuition is reasonable, even though it seems like they've spared no expense, so that's nice. Well, readers, after careful consideration, I've decided to endorse Guidepost Montessori at Cypress Creek. We like it enough that we will be enrolling our second kid when he's old enough. The question wasn't so much whether we could but whether we should, and even that was silly because the answer was obviously yes. The lack of actual dinosaurs is disappointing, of course, but I'm not going to deduct stars for that. I haven't found any school that has them, so it wouldn't be fair.
