Location 3.5: Kewalo Harbor off of Ala Moana Blvd in Honolulu Oahu, Hawaii. This is a few miles to the west of Waikiki beach and not a short walk from there. You can drive, take a taxi, bus or Uber, or the Prince Kuhio staff can arrange pickup and drop off for you at an additional cost. There is plenty of paid parking at the harbor. Service 5: Super nice and friendly staff, all the way from the reception team to the photographer, the servers, the bartender, the chef and the captain. Ambiance 5: The enthusiasm of the staff rubs off on the guests. It is a happy gathering with breathtaking views. We took the Friday night dinner-cruise which lasted longer (and was more costly) so that we could enjoy the Hilton Hawaiian Village fireworks. The ship 3: The Prince Kuhio was first commissioned in 1984 as a passenger ferry. In 2020, she became part of the Prince Kuhio Tours family and was converted for use in scenic dining cruises. It can accommodate up to 138 passengers with plenty of outdoor and indoor space for dining, cocktails, and sightseeing. The upper, open deck where we sat, has 2 person and 4 person tables with all bench seats facing forward. The set up is optimized for sightseeing which is great. Viewing-wise, every seat is a good seat. Accommodation-wise, the setup is simple and not really fine-dining; hard seats with no cushioning, no tablecloths or cloth napkins, no metal silverware and no glassware. There is a bar facing the dining tables which at the time of our visit in August 2025 only served soft drinks and non-alcoholic mixers. For some undisclosed reason no alcohol was being sold on board but guests were encouraged to bring their own, which we did! Not sure if this is a long-term situation or temporary. The alcohol situation is not clearly stated on their website so if you plan to be drinking you might want to inquire ahead of time whether you should bring your own. The lower deck is enclosed and views are limited compared to the upper deck. The admission price for the lower deck is a little less ($115 vs. $132 at the time of our visit). The restrooms are aft on the lower deck. Again pretty basic. Boarding and seating 3: We got there plenty of time ahead of the scheduled boarding but there was already a long line outside. There was very little supervision. The line was disorganized and people were cutting in and jumping the line. We were greeted cheerfully at the entrance, checked in, and photographed for a separately-sold souvenir photo. Although we had paid for upper deck seating as a family of four, by the time we got there all tables were taken. Again there was no supervision by the staff and it was kind of a "free for all". We had to personally negotiate with the other guests (who had spread out over multiple tables) to secure a 4-seat table. This was a little chaotic and unexpected. Food 4: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner have different menus. We had taken the Sunset Dinner Cruise. Dinner included a garden salad, an entrée and a dessert (cheesecake). For the entrée, you are limited to Fish (Catch of the Day) or Beef Short Ribs. We all had the fish and it was delicious and nicely plated. Given the amount of people that they feed in as short as a time, I do not know how they do it but it came out really well. We met the chef who was going around and meeting the guests after the dinner was served, and he told us that everything is done fresh and on premises in real time. Hats off to the chef and the staff! Drinks 3: As mentioned earlier, they only served soft drinks and mixers at the time of our visit in August 2025. No alcohol was sold on board but patrons were encouraged to bring their own. Suggest you check ahead of time with Prince Kuhio Tours whether this is still the situation. The Last Word 4: The breathtaking views, the friendly crew and the delicious (albeit limited in options) food offerings elevate this experience to a solid 4. I wish they could do better with the boarding process and the seating arrangements. Overall a great experience! read more

Food: AMAZING! We had fish. It was tender and moist. The chef told us he was grilling it as we ate salad. The wasabi cream sauce made the dish with bok Choy, edamame beans, and rice. The salad had a really yummy sweet papaya sauce. Cheesecake standard but very yummy too! Best food on a boat. They even got our baby some fish and noodles and Cheetos. Service: Alex was so kind and attentive. My son got sea sick and she packed his food, gave me barf bags and a towel. She showed a spot where it was less rocky. She was lovely interacting with the children. Showed them all she decorated. Ambience: very chill vibe, clean bathrooms, Desiree was a cool bartender making everyone comfortable. First sunset cruise of our trip and my, it did not disappoint! This was a 2 and a half hour sunset cruise tour with fireworks (only on Fridays do they have fireworks!) You had the option of either fish or beef, and we each got one entree and every single bite was amazing! The chef came out and explained how he has his own kitchen so everything is made FRESH! And you could tell - they caught the fish that morning! There were about 40 of us on the boat but it was very spacious and everyone had room to eat/roam/ do their own thing. There was red velvet cheesecake for dessert which is my favorite so I was stoked about that! We opted for the fireworks because we thought it would be cool, and it was - but we do think we could get a better view on the beach. In Hawaii on vacation and our travel agent suggested this company for a sunset cruise! This was a very nice cruise to Diamond Head parallel to the Waikiki Shoreline. Check-in and dinner selections occurred seamlessly. Once ready to go, the captain taught us about Waikiki beach & the history of the area --- all the while, the on-board chef was preparing everyone's dinners. It was a BYOB cruise and NO alcohol provided. The entrees seemed to take a little longer than what was expected -- however, there was just one chef in the galley! They were definitely well prepared and tasted delicious! The crew was definitely on top of things and took VERY good care of all the cruise guests. Don't go if you get seasick lol especially since the ride is slow so you feel everything. I did take Dramamine but ended up so drowsy lol my mom had to take her food to go because she just could not handle it she was super seasick. A few others were running to the bathroom due to being seasick. I can see this being super enjoyable, If you do not get seasick. The wait for dinner took longer than I expected, from leaving the port it wasnt until 1 hour and half until we got our dinner. Some get there's first depending on if you chose fish or steak. The staff was nice and chef was too the food I'd rate 5 out of 10 . The views were also amazing. The captain was trying to do some stand up comedy I think, which didn't land at our group lol either way he got us there and back safe so can't complain. This was an amazing evening tour with a great dinner and sunset and evening sights of Waikiki from a mile away. And on top of that, a fireworks display that made the evening absolutely wonderful. Now the criticism: Check in was a disaster. Nowhere in the instructions does it say that releases are required. So check in time comes and the attendant springs that on the many guests lining up outside. And it must be completed before check in. Cluster to say the least. I would suggest putting that in big block letters on confirmation messages and that would be done online before check in. Other than that, once on board the evening was flawless. The crew was fun, professional, enjoyable and on their toes. The captain gave a good safety briefing and then we sailed. One of the crew had a birthday and we all celebrated it. The dinner party was exquisite. Best seafood ever. The Cross Is BYOB, and Drew kept our wine cold. Then there was the scenery. Amazing sunset scenes and view of Waikiki from afar. We had booked this cruise two weeks prior through a third-party.(viator) and this was a wedding anniversary date for both of us. I had a feeling that because we made our reservation through a third-party that they decided to cancel it. Two weeks ago when we booked it, it was not sold out, and I find it very unprofessional that you decided to canceling our reservation so that other people could be booked in our place. We arrived at their dock F30 at 5:45 am on March 7, 2026 and they "Prince Kuhio tours" were a NO SHOW!! we took a taxi to the pier and myself plus 5 family members Sat for 30 minutes waiting. We all got a text that some early morning reminding us or our up coming trip. We tried calling them, emailing them texting them and we have not still got any call back or refund yet. It's been 4 days now and still no response. Don't know what else to do. Since I helped family members buy tickets thru them, some of them did not use credit cards to pay. I travel to Hawaii a lot and this was one of the most fun experiences in Waikiki. The boat and the staff were outstanding. The crew really made the cruise a lot of fun! I believe this is one of the only ships that travels with an onboard chef and the food was absolutely exceptional! I have never had fish that fresh and the people in our group that had the short rib also said it was exceptional. I have also seen the sunset many times from the beach, but this is the first time from a boat and it was an entirely new experience not to be missed. If you could potentially get sea-sick I wouldn't really recommend this tour. The boat is on the smaller side and the seating upstairs is quite uncomfortable so it makes everything feel a lot worse. The food also wasn't very good- definitely don't get the fish, but the beef was alright. The dessert was bad (brownie + raspberry sauce), so we only took a couple bites. It's BYOB so you can bring your own alcohol on board, but most of the boat was seasick and couldn't even eat, let alone drink. I was scheduled for a sunrise cruise with Prince Kuhio Tours this morning and was told to arrive at the port by 5:30 AM. I showed up on time, along with three other individuals (not in my party), and there was absolutely no sign of the tour or any staff from the company. We all tried calling, and I personally reached out via email and their social media pages--still no response. It's now after 7 AM, and there has been zero communication or accountability. The boat itself was much smaller than we were expecting. The staff was very nice! The food was amazing! I do wish there was a/c or a fan at the least in the indoor seating area as it was very hot/humid and stuffy in there. I don't normally get motion sickness but unfortunately I got sick while on the boat a little after dinner but I was able to gather myself just in time to watch the fireworks show! For the price of admission, I'd definitely recommend looking and going elsewhere. The boat/food advertised isn't exactly as shown in pictures and the seating upstairs is so uncomfortable (that's were you'll be majority of the cruise). We set off towards Diamond Head and was served a bowl of very warm lettuce with rock-hard croutons. We sat and waited for awhile until they realized they hadn't given anyone utensils. After the salad we sat and waited for atleast an hour or so. We sat there thinking perhaps we were going downstairs to eat but then we started to see the hostess walk towards the bar in front with used plates. Little did we know, the people in back of us had already been served, eaten and was already being served dessert. When the hostess saw us looking extremely confused she explained that they serve from back to front so we'd be getting our food soon. Soon was more like another 20 mins later. There were 4 in our party and we were brought 3 plates initially. My Dad patiently waited but atleast another 8 mins as we all sat and waited, not wanting to start without him. Finally his food came and the hostess joked around saying that she was sorry but "#91 usually eats last" referring to him as being the last pasenger. Not only was he served last but it was also like an after thought... he had a different smaller plate and his portion was significantly small than the others. After that situation we were pretty much over the cruise and when tey came by and offered us a slice of warm cheesecake we declined. They really need to work on their entire process so that it's more efficient and all customer's leave feeling valued and happy with the services received for the price paid. If they need more servers for such a big crowd then they need to do that. Our experience on the cruise was unexceptable given the cost we ALL paid for an experience that sadly doesn't look at all like it's advertised. read more

We went on the Sunset Dinner Cruise and it was outstanding!! The cruise was relaxing, we got to see the spectacular sunset, the beautiful Waikiki skyline in the evening, and even saw some dolphins. The captain also went out of his way to turn the ship around a bit, to check out the dolphins once more for the folks that missed them. AND, the chef made dinner was so delicious!! The cruise takes you into the ocean for a nice view of the Waikiki city skyline but there were big waves that rocked the boat the entire time. Would have put six stars if possible! This cruise was incredible. The captain positioned the boat in the best possible way so that the sunset was perfect for pictures during dinner. The food was excellent, my husband and I got the beef and mashed potatoes. The beef was so tender and juicy that it didn't even require a knife. The garlic mashed potatoes were creamy and yummy. The staff was super friendly, they even offered to take pictures for us and promptly took our finished dishes and empty cups. An overall amazing cruise! One more note is that all the 1 star and 2 star reviews are all from people being picky and not understanding what a dinner cruise is. one review spewed some crap about the boat not having open space for their kids to run around? like a sunset dinner cruise is not a space for your kids to reek havoc. I booked this dinner cruise + fireworks for the night before we fly back home after a week vacation in Oahu. The cruise was supposed to be for 2.5 hours and they mentioned in the email it will leave on the dot at 6pm so be there early to check in at 5:30pm. We even brought our own booze because they no longer serve alcohol on the boat. The boat didn't leave until 6:15. The non alcoholic drinks "were" provided in that, I asked for a coffee and they said it will be served after dinner. I asked for pineapple juice (one of the juices on their menu) and they said they ran out (before we even left the dock). We started cruising at 6:15 and the water was so wobbly and waves were so bad. Most people including myself on the boat got really sick. Some even couldn't even make it to the bathroom and puked all over. I saw it. Most people took motion sickness meds, but didn't seem to help that much with big waves. This was a big waste of money. You can tell most people didn't enjoy their time. We were so happy to be back at the docking station to go back to the car. It was so bad that the servers brought to go boxes for people when they served their food. Then brought the dessert in to go boxes cause almost everyone was sick. They didn't even bring the coffee after dinner because even the staff just wanted to get out. We even docked earlier than 8:30pm. The captain should've just cancelled the trip and offered everyone a refund before we even left the docking station. I booked this cruise for hubby and I and it cost $337 directly from their site, but I thought it'll be worth it for our 1 year anniversary and our babymoon vacay celebration, but I tell you SAVE YOUR MONEY. Go to viator.com and book one of the sunset dinner cruise with one of the big ships so you don't feel the waves as much and it'll be half the price. Captain John was so incredibly helpful with the cruise set up and generously reminded me of Kama'aina deals available. We arrived as instructed, parking was convenient and reasonable. We were greeted on time and quickly completed COVID required questionnaires, temp checks and off we go masked into the wild blue yonder, kind of...lol. The scenes were unforgettable and breathtaking. Clearly seeing all the way from Leeward Oahu, the infamous Waikiki shores all the way past Diamond Head. It was something I won't soon forget. I plan on returning often. We have friends and family that visit often, you best believe this will be on our list of things to do. Savannah, Captain John, Captain Sam, Sean and the entire crew were so personable and even though they're originally from out of state, you feel the kindness and spirit of Aloha. We didn't plan to book a cruise until lunch of the very evening we intended to do a dinner cruise. The first site I found was booked, and then I found Prince Kuhio Tours. As fate would have it, this was very good happy accident. We couldn't have asked for a better dinner cruise. The crew greeted us and checked us in, including the captain welcoming us onto the boat. All we needed to bring was ourselves, maybe a jacket for the crosswinds, and our favorite adult beverage(s). (And motion sickness medicine, if you need it.) The rest of the crew would soon take care of us while we enjoyed awesome views of the sunset going over the ocean, and the various colors it was putting out on the water and on the downtown scene of Waikiki. The buildings were glittering with all kinds of sunset colors. The cruise path is a bit high-traffic with other boats around us, but it was still beautiful. The food was delicious. We had a few options to choose from to accommodate vegetarians and meat eaters. We started with a nice salad with a few options for dressing. We chose the fresh catch. It was served with a creamy coconut white sauce over rice and with veggies. Dessert was served as well, and it was a yummy cheesecake. Once the boat makes it to the end of Waikiki, it turns around and very slowly goes back to the slip where we started. The crew was all very friendly and helpful. They even did a good job of entertaining us a bit as well. (That's not something that you'd expect with this kind of dinner cruise.) When you go, I recommend getting there early so you can get the spot you want. I'd suggest going to the second deck, and sit on the port side. You'll have a great view of the sun going down on the way out, and a great view of the city lit up in the dark on the way back. You won't worry about getting your favorite photos. read more

They were great throughout our entire cruise *small staff means limited hands. Back of the boat gets served first and they work their way forward. Not everyone eats at the same time, but also keep in mind plates are being made to order and serving 30-50 servings at once just leaves room for sitting and cold food, instead they serve it as it becomes ready. Be patient, the food is WELL worth it. *They serve from the back of the boat to the front, we were in the front, and we waited for our food and my sides were sooo hot I had to wait to eat them. If you are visiting Honolulu, I can't recommend this activity enough! My friend and I chose to do the sunset dinner cruise, and the whole experience was phenomenal; of course we booked the reservation for Friday which had a decent view of the Hilton Hotel fireworks display. Perfect sunset dinner cruise! Just what my wife and I were looking for. The food was above average and when we went it was byob. We sat at upper deck which had amazing sunset and moon rise views over diamond head. The crew was extremely nice and helped with anything we needed.
