Stopped by to buy face shields on the recommendation of a friend. They have a great selection of masks and shields. Bought some for us and some for friends. The impressive thing for me for how careful they were being to follow all the requirements of the reopening of businesses by the state of NM. They were taking temperatures and assuring they were limiting the number of people in the building. Employees were all wearing masks that fit properly. I had just had a pedicure somewhere else yesterday and none of that was happening there. Since I had just had a pedicure I could not use their spa and nail services then, but you can be sure that is where I will get my next pedicure. Would strongly recommend them. read more

I have tried a couple of nail salons here in town and this is the only one I return to. The prices are great and include a lot of "extras" that other salons don't provide or you have to pay more for. The place gets super busy though, so it is best to go at slower times or make an appointment. I also noticed that on my more recent visits, Princess Nails has attracted some male customers. Being from Los Angeles, seeing a man get a pedicure is nothing out of the ordinary but it was not something I saw here in town until recently. This was my favorite nail place for years and years until I had a bad experience. I decided to talk to the owner and manager (both wonderful and kind human beings!), we worked out a compromise so I wouldn't have to lose my fave nail shop and they wouldn't have to lose a loyal customer. Finally went back again today after ~6 months (I had a toenail removed but it finally grew back! YAY!) Perfectly happy with my experience. Again! Thanks for letting me give you guys another shot. I was right, 3rd time *IS* a charm! :D Also I would recommend making an appointment online or calling them because it can get VERY busy at times (Wednesday afternoon was relaxing) but with an appointment you are guaranteed a spot and you don't have to wait :) So glad I didn't have to find a new spot even after a bad situation, they made things right and truly want their customers to be happy. My feet were a bit rough after I got the Ultimate mani and pedi but that also might be my fault with the Calluses. I got dip on my fingernails and they look flawless. I'm a regular, typically I see Tiffany who does amazing work. Left very unhappy today after getting my SNS from a different nail technician - I had to ask him to grind them more as the powder was on my cuticles. After a second attempt it still was not right, added a design to cover up his mistakes. He couldn't get the top coat on smoothly and had to redo it several times. Regardless, my nails are still not right - and they still charged me. Not sure I'll ever go back. read more

Nail salons are hard to rate. What other people like, I don't. What I like, others don't...and sometimes it can be a completely different experience each time you go. So I'm going to give you just the facts. (Ha ha) We got there early, about 11am on a Friday. Three of us got service right away. Then there was a sudden rush...of all the people who leisurely arrived...they waited...a long time, pretty much the whole 1.5 hours we were there. They were all getting super antsy. One lady just walked in while there were like 5 or 6 ahead of her and said "I really need to sit, my nail tech likes me to soak my feet before she gets here", as she sat in a massaging pedicure chair... Anyways...I could see how their experience (and potentially yours) could be much different than mine. So my goal was just to have pretty nails, my husband's goal was to have his feet rubbed. To my irritation, he got his money's worth. They really spent a lot of time on their pedicures. I was bored and ready to move on. Their shop was clean, I saw them clean bowls between clients. They also give you your own nail file and scrubber thing. I did gel on my fingers, within the key chain the colors repeat, but some of the key chains have different colors, I didn't find anything I loved on the first one but settled on one anyway. And the tech forgot which number I wanted so she gave me the samples again and they were different, and I found one I loved right away. So anyways. I've been recommended to this place from several friends, and maybe I'm just not doing it right. I usually don't splurge on nails, so I'm pretty new to the terms 'rebase' vs 'new set', 'gel vs non-gel', etc. This shouldn't stop someone from getting what they want or need as a customer right? Here are the qualms I have with this place: the appointment process. When I call to make an appointment, I'm asked what I want done. As a newbie, I attempt to explain what I want and also the level of design I desire, but I don't think this request gets through to whoever makes the appointment. When I call they also ask if I have a technician in mind, but since I'm so new to the spa, I can't answer that question. How would I know which of the staff has the technical capability of doing the design I want as a new-ish customer?! I've been three times so far. The first time was okay, but my nails were not even - I had pooling of polish toward the end of my nail, making the end of my nail thicker than the area closer to my nail bed. The other two times were better jobs, but I was denied a specific design because whoever they put me with did not have the capability of the technical design I wanted, even though I specifically told the appointment-maker to put me with a tech that could do the design in the first place, sighhhh. I eventually gave up and went elsewhere. I guess this place would be awesome if you know exactly the tech you want to go to that has the technical skillset of the kind of designs you want. Unfortunately, that match just never happened for me, and I felt a bit frustrated leaving disappointed more than one time not being able to get the design I want - although I clearly conveyed to the person making appointments what I wanted each time beforehand. read more

Went for a pedicure and only had to wait 2-3 mins as a walk-in (Thurs afternoon). Like that they line the foot tubs w/ plastic and everything looked very clean. Did a great job smoothing my heels and calluses w/o being overly aggressive doing the nails. Definitely will return. read more

Been coming here for about 2 years now. The entire staff are extremely (genuinely) friendly. They all take their time on you and you never feel rushed like other places I've been in Albuquerque. I always feel so relaxed and pampered when I come here. They do great work on nails and waxing. It's best to make an appointment because they are always very busy. I've been to this place a handful of times and the last few times, I was trying to give these people the benefit of the doubt. Apparently there is really only 3 good nails techs there, good luck getting an appointment. I seem to get the worst of them. It's absolutely terrible. The last nail tech had my anxiety through the roof. He took two and a half hours doing my nails and the shape was not natural looking, the thickness of each nail seemed to be different, he was completely out of sequence while using the SNS dip method, the final coat was bumpy and not smooth looking and the list goes on and on! I expect to relax while getting my nails done. I wasted plenty of time and money here. I wouldn't recommend and am definitely not going back, not even to fix them! read more

Not enthused... I came here with a friend the other day for a pedicure. The initial experience was fine other than my nail technician not seeming too friendly. Less than a day later the nail polish on two toes chipped. I made an appointment to come back and have them fixed. I arrived about 5 minutes early, and then tried to find the color that I had used. Unable to find it they said they would just redo them altogether. They had me take a seat in one of the massage chairs which was partly broken because it kept stopping, and a few of the functions didn't work. I sat waiting for 40 minutes before someone came over to start on them. I almost walked out. Many of my friends come here and it was highly recommended to me, but I think I'll stick to my usual place. I can deal with people who are thorough and just trying to do a job, but I'd rather go somewhere that my time is valued and a welcoming experience doesn't seem too much to ask for. read more

Clean (tools come out of a sealed bag and have been sterilized) and $25 is less than the five or so other places I have been in town. Tu is talented, friendly and passionate about what she does. I had a very unpleasant, painful experience at this salon. My nail tech used an extremely sharp, unscored file and buffer on my nails (if you are unfamiliar, scoring is the process of filing down the edge of the file which is extremely sharp) and completely tore apart my cuticles. She also dug very deep into my side walls with the cuticle cutting tool which should never be DUG into the cuticles or used with pressure. I thought about just telling her to stop and leaving but I let her finish. When she sprayed the alcohol it stung immensely and I could feel how horribly torn apart the skin around my toes was, at which point I said something because it hurt badly and I think she realized what she had done. When she applied the gel polish she got some on my toe and proceeded to attempt to scratch it off which yet again was quite painful. I think she was scared to use acetone which would be the only way to properly get it off because of how open my skin was. Overall very painful experience and I can confidently say that I will never be back. read more

I love this place, everyone I have had has done some great nails and seems pretty experienced. I hate it when you pay so much and get someone that creates a ingrown toe nail or cuts you. That being said, I did get a facial and would not recommend it, especially if you have sensitive skin. My lady was very nice, but there was a few things that made it not enjoyable. First she was getting product on my eyes, I also told her to clean off part of the mask because it was burning me. After the fourth time of saying something I just suffered through it while she vigorously rubbed it in. I think we just didn't have good communication. People kept coming in and out of the room and her phone was going off. Not very relaxing. I also ended up with and raw red spot on my face. All said and done I hate that I paid 45$ for it. I should have known because everyone seemed reluctant to do it in the first place. I think if your going to do anything like a facial it pays to go to a professional who is licensed. I've been going here now for about two years. Don't get me wrong with the three stars, they get the job done and if you get the right person you won't be disappointed. But sometimes it is a hit or miss, they never do a horrible job but I can tell when someone takes their time and my nails look amazing but I don't always get that. I think the biggest problem is how busy they are. I usually make an appointment for this reason, but the girl who answers the phone has never been friendly the last two years I've been attending. If you go on a busy day, you may get rushed resulting in a mediocre job so I definitely advise you go during the week before 4:30 p.m. A friend of mine gets SNS gel regularly and says her manicure doesn't last as long when she gets it done at Princess then other nearby salons, so I wouldn't recommend it for that. I went to this nail salon because I was on verge of breaking a nail while driving into Albuquerque for the weekend. Getting sat was easy, & they started on me immediately. I showed the woman what I i wanted my nails to look like, & she said no problem. I got a dip manicure with acrylic tips as my nails are in process of growing back out. She would place my finger in the dipping powder & PRESS IT onto my nail which made a funky shape & made them super thick. I have NEVER seen anyone do dip this way. She then did not even get it onto the edges of my nails, so you could see the acrylic tips. She did not even attempt to make them not so thick, they were lumpy from her pressing the powder into my nail, & did not file around my cuticles so now my hair is getting stuck under the edges. I also paid $70 for this awful manicure that took over 2.5 hours. I trimmed my nails so you couldn't see the awful tips she did when I got home so now I just have thick and short nails I hate. Aside from them being very nice & quick to get me with someone, I feel like this was a total waste of time & money. My normal place does my nails the same way, a million times better for $40. I will be getting them redone somewhere where they know what they're doing. read more

I went in with a specific design that included 3d nail art. I was told there was only a few people that could do it and was asked to come back at 5pm. When i arrived I showed my design and the nail tech started i didn't question her ability even though she seemed to be in a rush. I hadn't ever got the 3d nail art and wasn't knowing what to expect. She finished the gel polish and told me to wash my hands. When i arrived back to her station they had moved all my personal items from her station and put them at the front counter. I was handed a ticket for 65 dollars for just a manicure and i asked about the 3d nail art and she said she didnt know i wanted it and she could do it but it would be extra to redo the two nails. Went in on New Year's Eve with my daughter for a very simple acrylic set with an appt. She was informed upon arrival that the tech she made the appt. with was booked? Ok, she was getting a different tech. Two and a half hours later she was finally done... we had gotten a very new inexperienced tech. The techs around us had already finished 2-3 clients by the time my daughter was finally finished. More surprises when it was time to pay. She was charged $30 more than normal! That's when I stepped in questioning the price, mix up with the tech that the appt. had been made with, the time it had took for a simple nail, and the techs inexperience. The manager or who ever dealt with us was extremely rude, and made every excuse in the book and just wanted to argue!! At the end of the day my daughter received 10% off but it was still a very bad experience having paid more than she should. I suspect this tech was charging more based on the fact that he takes longer, so beware. There are wonderful techs there, this tech was a young man probably in his twenties, and I do not recommend him. read more

I have been going to princess for YEARS!!! My usual guy no longer works there and I have been trying to find someone else there that is as good as him. Today I went in showed them what I wanted and they put me with a lady they said could do it. This woman was so rude to me and when pointed out a hair in my nail she said "don't worry about it " and left that hair in my nail. Then couldn't do the design. So a different lady tried and did a better job but still not what I wanted at all. I even said I'll do an easier design and she said no. She even told me they don't have anyone on staff that can do artwork. Plus my nails are sooooo thick. I told the owner and she said next time someone else may do a better job. I was there for 2 hours paid full price and my nails look like garbage. I spend thousands there every year I have brought in friends and family. And the treated me so terrible today.
