I cannot say enough good things about Princevale Animal Hospital. They have been so kind and helpful through some difficult times. I love how they take time to explain everything.. they do not pressure you or make you feel guilty (which I have had from other places) or bad about any decision you make in pet care. They are constantly reassuring and offering multiple options of care individualized to each pet. Everyone is always understanding and helpful ... from the front desk to the Vet. I'm supper over the top not wanting my fur babies out of my sight when they are having things done and they are always accommodating when possible to help not only my nervousness but also nervousness of the pet. The outpouring of kindness and compassion when my elderly cat declined quickly was just more than I could ask for. They way they explained in detail what was wrong providing copies of test results and X-rays without my having to beg. I'm so glad I found this place in an act of desperation... now I bring all my fur babies here! I also love they have an app to help you manage prescriptions, appointments, etc. so convenient. Princevalle Pet Hospital saved the life of our indoor/feral kitty. She was in big trouble and they worked tirelessly to try and save her, which they DID. All of the staff I've encountered show a genuine high level of compassion which is key when your pet's health is compromised. Huge thanks to Dr. Fisher who is literally a lifesaver. The Gilroy facility is convenient, clean and has a very nice vibe. I never worry when I have to leave my pet behind for treatment. I have two giant British Shorthair cats and 1 tiny feral kitty, Friday. You don't wait on hold forever when trying to call or have to leave a vm only to get a call back days later (like another vet in gilroy). The front desk staff are always friendly and the vet takes the time to listen to concerns and offer up great solutions. She even included my daughter and let her have a listen to our dogs heart. Was a client at a different Watsonville vet for 25 years, but things changed and we needed to move on. The fiancée of a cousin of a trainer works here (remember kids: it's a small town, play nice). I knew that she was great with dogs, and rolled the dice on moving the dogs over there. MOVING TO PRINCEVALLE WAS THE BEST THING I'VE DONE FOR MY DOGS IN YEARS. They included me in everything (instead of taking the dogs around the back out of the line of sight like the other vet). These vet techs aren't here by accident - THEY LOVE DOGS. I have used this vet for almost 17 years. In 2019 this vet told me my cat had cancer and the treatment was expensive. we elected not to treat. fast forward 6 years, when my 16 year old cat had a growth the size of lemon on her back end, was throwing up, drooling, and needed to be put down, they required a wellness check in addition to the cost of the shot. perhaps they would not end her life afterwards. This is such a traumatic time in our lives to end our loving cats life. The thought of coming back home with our cats after mentally preparing for their imminent demise is heartbreaking. I made a mistake when I mentioned my 83 year old husband was having a fifth surgery on his jaw for cancer. he could no longer have his cats on his bed or risk infection, and we would be moving in a few months, they balked at doing this service for me. all they heard was we were moving. I had contacted Animal Shelter and they said they could not take our cats they were too old and not adoptable. what recourse does that leave me? abandon pets to the coyotes, drop off somewhere else and possibly get run over? This is the only home they know. PRINCEVALLE is heartless and I am traumatized by this. read more

I don't have enough words to describe our grateful appreciation for Princevalle Pet Hospital!! They were there for our family when we needed urgent care the most!! Our 7 pound Daisy awoke on Halloween very sick. I called our regular vet & were told they were booked & Daisy needed ER services. They recommended a facility on Monterey Rd. I quickly texted a trusted friend & family member & both adamantly pleaded not to go to the ER facility & try PPH. I called immediately & after consulting with the vet, the helpful technician stated to come right in, they would stabilize her & give her a 10 am appt. We walked in & the whole staff jumped into action, as they knew the urgency of our situation. Everyone was so helpful & patient, as we rushed through the registration portion. Dr. Igeta got right to examining Daisy. She was thorough & explained her concerns & next steps. She thoughtfully laid out her plans for xrays, then bloodwork & tests. The staff quickly provided me with an estimate of ALL potential costs. I wholeheartedly trusted their opinion & did not feel any tests were unwarranted or unneeded. Daisy would stay at the facility throughout the day receiving fluids & meds. I received an email with the test results around noon & Dr. Igeta left a voice message with progress. The office called in the late afternoon to say Daisy was responding well & could be picked up at closing time. The office staff were so patient & thorough in explaining what care she would need from us that night & for the next few days. They also wanted to see Daisy the next day, as it was a Friday & wanted to make sure she was improving, so we wouldn't be stranded over the weekend. They gave us specialized cans of dog food, as Daisy needed a special diet for a few days. I especially love the medicine containers, as portioning is super easy & efficient. We walked in the next day & the whole staff welcomed Daisy back. They were thrilled she looked so much better. She received more fluids, while Dr. Igeta went over additional testing results that had arrived that morning. We were able to rule out lots of issues & talked about what issues to look for in the future. I appreciated their robust supply of OTC supplements and food options, as I was not about to go out on a Friday evening looking for her specialized food. The prices are really comparable to online sources. Being we were new patients and the situation was urgent, I was really astounded at how reasonable our final bill turned out to be. We very well may switch vets, as we are so thankful for their prompt, unwavering care of our pup. read more

Honestly idk how this hospital got negative reviews. I've got nothing but great things and customer service here. I even think they're better than the vet I used to go to in Los Angeles before I moved to NorCal. They are so patient with my questionsand courtious, they call asap whenever my doggies need an appointment. I got two huskies and they're a handful. I love how you can easily access your pet records online and shows their next vaccines/checkup so I know when to schedule it. I never had that at the last vet I took my dogs before. The male vet tech (I'm terrible with names) is awesome. I never said this to you but you are a hard worker handling these doggies for their care and I commend you. I also love the fact that this pet hospital you can text them and they answer. I'm always at work so it's hard to answer phone calls and texts are much easier for me. read more

I would not be able to help the rescues, fosters, and colony cats without their support. I just received the call call princivalli that they were cutting ties with me and the one that suffers is my fur baby when we were in a lockdown and I lost one of my loved ones to covid-19 I forgot about my appointment so when I remembered I called and I was told that I should have had one of my family members to call about the cancellation and that there will be a fee and I have no problem with that when I took my fur baby so his recent appointment and I told dr. Fisher about this incident evidently they talked with the person in the person feels threatened I never threaten no one I saw this person is probably afraid that they were going to lose her job I will see what my legal ramifications are and move forward this is like a cash cow there's no compassion there so if you love your fur baby I will seek other places to go They're Not The Only Game in Town read more

They constantly changed the start time of my appointments after scheduling them 4 weeks in advance. Today was the 2nd time I was late for an appointment due to staff miscommunication. Each time, the person at the front desk booked the incorrect time that I requested, and the other times the person calling to confirm my appointment the day before told me the appointment was a different time which was an hour off; making me late. My recommendation is if you come here, call the day of to confirm your appointment time and get a card with your appointment time written on it to show as proof whenever they mess up. Staff at the front desk needs further training on their scheduling system or this location needs an upgraded system that allows your staff to view and schedule appointments easily. Needless to say, I won't be coming here again. read more

The staff was so welcoming and Dr Igeta actually got down on her knees and examined Zeppelin from head to toe. I found out it was her first day at Princevalle. They really picked a good doctor! Brought my poor kitty in after her tail got bitten by something. First call, I had to fill out paperwork, send it in before I could book an appointment. I called to see if they had received said paperwork, girl said yes, looked at my email which stated tail either broken or bitten. She said, 'we need to get her in right away'. So, as we looked at our calendars, she said 'tomorrow'. I brought cat in, they turned me away, as my appt. was for the next day. Ok, I came back. Dr. W was very nice and they treated my kitty nice. Only complaint, I was left in the exam room while waiting for the meds. Seemed like a long time, so I left and went to sit in waiting room. Seemed to take an extremely long time for me to get the meds, pay and leave. One really nice thing about this vet. While in the waiting room, I saw them put a lit sign in the check in area. When I read it, it said something about being quiet, someone was saying goodbye to their beloved pet. I hadn't seen anything like that, and thought it was very sweet. We have a follow up appointment soon. I'll see what happens. read more

All of the staff are very compassionate and friendly. I took my animals there for 10 years! Dr. Fischer removed Cancer from my beautiful Yellow Lab Buddy. It never came back. As far as I am concerned she gave me 7 extra years with my best friend. She looked after my 2 Labs in their later years, all the way to the end. Now she looks after my new puppy & I feel good about that. Dr. Fitzgerald is also Fantastic! The entire staff is great here. I've been coming to this vet for years. Mostly because they are one of the few in the area that work with birds. The vet is pretty decent as she has Parrots herself but getting an appointment on a Saturday is a HUGE pain in the ass. You have to book your appointment about 2 months in advance. EVERY single time I arrive for my appointment I ALWAYS have to wait. Sometimes for about a half hour. If I make an appointment for 10am and don't get seen until 10:30 I might as well just stay at home for another half hour. Quite a few times, (including this week), I will book an appointment and then they call a couple days ahead of my appointment and cancel! I got a message on my machine yesterday that I need to reschedule my appointment for this Saturday. Not only that but my original appointment was for 10am and they tell me that the earliest appointment they have for the next Saturday is noon! If I had wanted a noon appointment I would have booked a noon appointment. Bottom line is if there was another vet in the area that did birds I would not be coming to this one. read more

The veterinarians are amazing and the staff is wonderful. They go above and beyond for every patient and treat every patient as if they were their own. This hospital is very busy for a reason. And that is because they are absolutely amazing. Upon the few occasions that a doctor is running a little late, we completely understand that they are providing intensive care for an emergency or tending to a critically ill hospitalized patient. We understand that this is a hospital and we know that if the emergency (God forbid) were ours - we would want that level of intensive care and attention for our pet. Just had my first visit here with my little boy. He is a very narotic Toy Apricot Poodle, acts funny around people he doesnt know. We sat down and filled out his paperwork and he was pretty relaxed which was shocking to me already! Waited in the lobby for a short time before we saw his Doctor. I love how everyone here seems to really love the animals, they got to know him before coming at him and checking his temperature,etc. He's got some bad teeth and we were there for a Exam/Dental Exam. He just stood there while the Doctor examined him I was in utter disbelief! He did so wonderful. Everyone seemed to love him alot and that means so much to me. I now understand how my clients feel, I am a Pet Groomer down in Campbell at Suzie's Pet Salon and I constantly have people come in that are nervous about leaving their loved ones but are so thankful that everyone in our shop is loving towards the animals. I live in Scotts Valley so this is quite a drive for me but well worth it. I only paid $48 for an Office visit/Exam! Anywhere else in the bay would have charged me at lease $100 and my little baby boy wouldn't have gotten half the compassion that he recieved here. I am so happy that my boss recommended these guys to me. He goes in for his Dental and Extractions next week and I believe they will take very good care of him. read more

In requesting an appointment I was informed that at this time Princevalle Pet Hospital is fully booked and is not accepting new clients. The gal I spoke with offered to double check that this was still the situation for me, which I greatly appreciated. She came back with feedback that during this time they are not even accepting extended family members as clients as they are fully booked. I was disappointed to hear this as I was truly looking for a local vet instead of driving 30 miles north to my long time vet. In the most professional way, I informed the gal that I was speaking with, as I used Yelp to research vets I would be writing a review to let others know of the current status that was shared with me. I was treated extremely unprofessionally and was informed that "I didn't sound like the kind of client that they'd even want to have and that I was being passive aggressive." I indicated that I was being extremely professional and transparent and she hung up on me. Interesting...but after further review reading on this vet I see there is a theme of poor communication and customer service within their practice and I should not be surprised. This review is written for management (if so inclined to read) and for continuous improvement and training of staff members that treat people poorly that work with our animals. read more

Dr. Colbert was amazing. She was not at all intimidated by my kitty's complaining or threats during her exam. (She has not played nice with other vets & vet techs.) This put me, and surprisingly, my kitty at ease. We had to put our beloved kitty down due to no fault of the vet or hospital. They were very sensitive to our situation, even brought us back to a private room so we could have time to say goodbye. Everyone was compassionate & treated us and our kitty respectfully. We love the vets at this hospital. They are fantastic, friendly, and honest. We moved from another local vet hospital because they nickel and dimed us and these vets have a straight forward pricing plan. Our only gripe is that their newly certified vet techs are extremely judgmental to owners who acquire dogs before 8 weeks. We acquired a five week old lab and on two separate visits, my hubs and I both had to endure scolding by the vet techs who checked us in. We love dogs. In our mind, people will get rid of litters because they cannot afford to care for dogs. We CAN afford to provide an awesome life for our four legged friends and we obviously care about their health. The scolding makes us feel like we shouldn't bring the dogs in for check-ups. Today, we have received a call from a guy who is clearing our his litter of four week old pups. Yep, we are likely to nurse the little baby to be a loving well mannered dog....like the rest of our little babies. However, we are actually contemplating going to another place for shots until she gets older than 8 weeks so we can avoid the scolding and judgement from the vet techs. read more
