As a bride-to-be, my experience with Print Icon was unneccessarily stressful! The work they did was nice, however, if you are planning to design your own wedding invitations and get them printed, I would go elsewhere. You don't need the stress that they will put you through...there's enough to worry about! Basically, Print Icon did not follow through with their promise of when the printing would be completed by. Anyone who is planning an event knows that you rely heavily on deadlines. Print Icon did not care whatsoever! They promised to have the work done by a particular date and I had to call daily to follow-up with them...even though they said they would call me to give status updates. When I never received a (promised) phone call on the status, it prompted me to continue calling. Also, after they did a test-print of my invitation and I was ready to order the whole set, I was told that they could not print it on the paper that they did the initial test-run on? ! What? They did a test...why wouldn't they have figured it out then? Not to mention that the people who work there are just downright rude. They come accross as very condescending. In the end, the invitations looked great...but for the amount of stress and babysitting I had to do, it was not worth it. Wedding Planners go somewhere else! read more

Great family owned/run business, which was recommended to us personally. We proactively researched many Manhattan/Brooklyn printers and other suppliers but chose Print Icon in the end. We were very happy with our final decision. Hamid and Navid were extremely professional and were able to assist us with creating our perfect wedding invitation. We had our own design already but were looking for help with the actual printing of the invitations. Hamid listened to what we were looking to achieve and carefully explained what the different options were (foil stamping, digital printing etc). The overall process took a lot less time than we expected and we were very happy with their communication throughout to ensure we understood timelines. I had to print program cards for a funeral and they were very easy to work with. They printed multiple samples to make sure everything looked good and they did a rush - same day printing. I love paper stores and lately I've been back into my creative mode and thinking of ideas to create a personal scrapbook. I stumbled into this store just to see if I can anything unique and inspirational. Unlike Paper Presentation, which is just a few stores down the street, this place mostly sell paper products and it actually has a printing service area in the back of the store. But some of their non-paper stuff like a roll of Kates Paperie ribbons are way overpriced ($12.50). They also sell journals and scrapbooks but they're not as pretty or inspirational as others I've seen at other places. I haven't tried their printing service so maybe that is mainly their specialty. But if you're looking for actual crafty materials like stickers and acrylic paint, you might be better off going to Paper Presentation, which has much more variety. read more

I came here to have wedding invitations printed and they were very friendly and helpful. The files I had needed to have some editing to make them print ready and Navid was very awesome and took care of that easily, even though I came in at a busy time, he took the time to help me while he was in the midst of other projects. Possibly the ONLY weekend option to print business cards on very good card stock. You can print at FedEx, but you're getting very cheap, flimsy 110# or 110# printer paper. Print Icon provided 160# paper, which is the best "fast digital" matte finish card that I've seen. Very friendly, efficient, professional, and a good result. Pricey for rush service, but if you really need cards on a weekend in NYC then you have to pay up. They printed, cut and boxed 100 cards in less than two hours. I will definitely return to check out some of their other print services. Also- check out Vahid's cool folding vases. They make great Christmas gifts! read more

I can't speak for the print service of this place, but seems to have a nice selection of stationery and paper supplies, it's a slight step down from its neighbouring Paper Presentation in terms of the selection. If you're just looking for a quick drop-in for some nice paper stock, this is a good place, otherwise you might spend too long looking for what you want when there are too many expensive choices. read more

I printed my graphic design portfolio here, and it was a great experience. Because I didn't need pages to be bound, there was a very fast turnaround (24 hours almost exactly). They kept me updated, and they even helped me edit a detail in one of my pages that I didn't catch! They were able to edit my PDF so I didn't have to go back to school and then back to the printer. What a time saver. The color looked great and I am very happy with my printed portfolio, and am planning on using Print Icon again to print further work/samples. read more

I had our custom designed wedding invitations printed here and was blown away at how beautiful the cards came out! I plan on using Print Icon more often for my custom printing needs. The staff was friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable on the best ink and paper combo would represent the custom graphic design. The turnaround time was pretty fast, too. I got my cards in less than two days and I didn't even ask for express service. Overall, my experience was great. Although there are negative reviews on this site for them, I do have to say that you should take those reviews lightly. If you know what you want done and communicate it well, you will end up with an amazing print job. I just had a wedding invitation printed here that I designed for a friend. I had such an incredible experience. They gave me an amazing quote, better than I could find any where in the city or online. And when the bride and I went to check out the proof, she had one minor change, so they took us in the back and let us sit with one of their designers for free to change a color on the invite. They dye-cut some paper for me (on the spot) that they weren't even printing on and I walked home with it! Vahid and his team are really professional and kind. Best of all is, after a superior printing experience, I walked out of Print Icon smiling. I would highly highly recommend them !!! Vahid at Print Icon was the nicest and most reasonable person I've every gotten a quote from in this city for printing a 400-page portfolio project (they were initially recommended to me from Small Editions in Brooklyn). He was honest about what they could get done and when the project would be finished -- and they not only met but totally exceeded my expectations. They are not miracle-workers (don't expect a job to be turned around 30 minutes after you submit it !), but they will deliver as promised. I can't say enough good things about Print Icon. I printed my wedding invitations here and used their letterpress printing, foil stamping, and digital Indigo printing services. I brought them my illustrator file, and they made my design come to life. My guests have all raved about the invitations, and one even commented that it looks like we spent $5-10K, which of course we didn't. The price quote was the best I received from several printers I visited in NYC and even comparable to what I've seen from online vendors. But what I love the most about Print Icon is they'll make anything happen that you can dream up. I highly recommend them, and I've gone back to print my menus, make custom shaped tags, and even do foil stamping on a photo mat. read more

Absolutely the worst experience I have every had with any kind of vendor. In addition to being rude, unhelpful, making up prices and revealing their arbitrary and exponential mark up of goods, they nearly ruined an important sentimental gift through incompetence and indifference. I cringe when thinking about the amount of money I paid them plus the cost of covering for their failure with another vendor. And the best part is, when I politely confronted them with these problems, one of the owners screamed at me over the phone (only later to sheepishly apologize for his temper). I work as a consultant for many non-profits in NYC . Every time I need some business cards and programs I come to Print Icon. They are a family owned store and they have always treated me with respect. They have always worked with me when I bring them a rush job. Vahid (one of the owners) brings a decade of expertise so when I am stuck on a design he is there to guide me and always open to any questions I have. I am always happy with the results .....I recently went to there and they changed their retail. Their space looks amazing and the new retail items makes you want to shop all day. I don't what to say about these guys. I went in to print some cards as part of a new business we are trying to start. The printing part was mediocre, but then they took my designs and began selling my cards behind my back and without my permission within their store. I am now forced to waste my time and money to confront them and force a cease and desist. I am also in the process of filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, in addition to retaining legal representation. Good luck doing business with them, you've been warned. read more

absolutely horrible. i get charged $30 for 12 laser color pages that look like complete shit. some of the images are barely discernible. I go back after my interview tom complain and am told that that is just how the color laser prints. if i want to get better quality i have to pay twice as much for some specialty print-method. unbelievable. i've just moved here permanently from state college, pa, a small college town in the middle of NOWHERE. I look forward to going back there sometime and loading up on some work sample prints. I was just there not more than an hour ago, Sunday 3/4/2012. The woman at the counter is useless. I now know that she had no idea what I was asking. I wanted to buy 4x6 inch cards including envelopes. I asked if they sold cards that I could have monogrammed. She said, "yes." Then she proceeded to show me boxes of (what I thought were cards and envelopes.) different examples. I selected a box and we went to counter. I though I was going to select a font for my monogram; but no she proceeded to ring up the sale. I asked if Print Icon did custom work; meaning can I add my initials to the cards. She said, "yes." So I figured I'd go home design something and bring it back. I get home open the package and it contains only envelopes. What am I supposed to do with 50 stinking envelops and no note cards? Customer service is awful. They only care about customers who print in large volumes and corporate accounts. The boss pulled away this boy who was helping me. He was so rude. And not one customer in the house. It's horrible. Left in a terrible mood. I have worked with Print Icon on many occasions to print my artwork, as well as a few portfolios for my grad school applications. Because they're the only people who do a decent job, small quantities, and relatively large inkjet printing, I keep going back, even though I've had several bad experiences, including an entire batch of prints that had a huge printer mark across the middle, which I had to get them to re-do. I just picked up my last job from them, and I will never go back. I submitted files for a short portfolio book with specs, hole-punch directions, all that, on a Wednesday evening. The next morning, I called to make sure they got the files, and asked that the book be ready by the weekend. I gave my credit card info for the deposit, and was assured that everything would be ready by Sunday. Come Monday morning, I haven't heard from them, and they had told me they would call when the job was ready. I called first thing and checked on the job, and they assured me it would be done by the afternoon. I said I'd come by at 7pm after work and they said great, it'll definitely be done. As promised, I show up, only to find that they haven't even STARTED the job. They keep asking me who I spoke to that morning, and gave me attitude for not knowing the name of the person who had given me "wrong information." I'm pretty sure it was the manager of the whole place. Regardless, they promised it would be ready in the morning (the day I had to drop off the portfolio to the admissions office!). I came by the next morning and they told me that it hadn't been hole punched yet, because they wanted me to give instructions to the guy who does the hole punching. So I go downstairs with the guy, and basically read him what's already on the invoice. Anyway, after all that, I went back upstairs and put the bindings on in the store, then walked it directly to the school. I have probably been in and out of that place 30 times in the past month, and I'd say that a third of those trips have been to deal with their lack of organization and communication. It's too bad that the main printer, Navid, and one of the guys who does the cutting/hole punching, Oscar (who wasn't the one who hole punched the most recent job), are surrounded by people who can't tell up from down. Navid and Oscar are consistently friendly and dedicated. The rest -- a total shitshow. Do not reward their incompetence with your business. read more
