We had catfish and beef short ribs, both with mac & cheese and greens as sides. The catfish was crispy and savory with a little kick, but I thought it was kind of cold like it hadn't been fried to order. The beef short ribs were braised in gravy. They were tender, but very greasy and kind of had a gamey liver taste. I'm not a beef, chicken or pork eater, so they weren't my taste. My honey thought they tasted good but again, were greasy. The mac & cheese was delicious! Very cheesy, creamy, and had that oven-baked crust that's makes the sun shine brighter. The greens were good, not great. A little pepper vinegar made them much tastier. The corn bread was the BEST I've ever had. The sweet tea is pure syrup and oh-so-delicious. I did have to water it down a bit. Prices are reasonable. Pricilla's was close to home and we were curious about the 'soul food' since I haven't seen a lot of places around here that offered that type of cuisine. Since it was Friday we picked from the specials which I thought were reasonably priced. I personally had the seafood gumbo and it was delicious and the perfect amount of food. Everyone else ordered the fried catfish. They said it was delicious and they each came home with enough food for another meal. You go to the counter to order your food and you pick it up like a fast food chain, but the quality of food is much like grandma's home cooking. I would go there again. My husband and I stopped by Friday night after seeing a sign in the window for meat loaf. After finding out meatloaf is served on Saturday night we decided to get a fried chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans dinner and a smothered pork chop, mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese dinner. The food was amazing! My husband is very picky about his corn bread but he loved theirs, not too sweet and just the right texture. The gravy on the smothered pork chops was so good. The Mac and cheese was buttery with real cheese. Olga took our order, she was super nice. She gave us a sample of candied yams. Neither myself or my husband likes yams but these tasted like a dessert! We definitely are going to try them. Anyway the food was so good we went back tonight for Saturday meatloaf! We ate at Priscilla's for the first time today and we will never be back. We had heard about it in Streamwood but saw they opened a location in Hanover Park so that's where we went. I was looking forward to yummy home cooking and instead got high school cafeteria food. Pot roast should be called celery roast, fried chicken should be dried chicken and I make way better corn muffins in my own kitchen. The only thing we thought was good was the potato salad. I was so looking forward to a cozy, yummy, eating at grandma's house experience and got Old County Buffet instead, oh wait, Old country Buffet is better. Save your money!!!!! I've never been treated so rudely by a manager/owner in my life! I went to pay with my husbands card and was told she needed an ID. When I explained to her I had my ID but not for that card. She immediately told the cooks to cancel my order. I told her I had my card I could use, which she took and immediately ran without ever seeing an ID. I asked her if she was discriminating because I was gay because she never asked to see my ID for the card that she ran. She then started cursing and told me I could have my moment or food. I told her I wanted my food but would be writing a review about the experience. She said she didn't care and that she was the owner and nobody would care about the review. She then got very upset and told me to leave. I told her I wasn't leaving without my food or money. She said to leave and she wasn't listening to me anymore. I had to CALL THE POLICE to get my money back. After the police forced her to refund my money, she told them I could came back another day! Fat chance! I have never written a bad review ever! I went into Priscilla's soul food resturant today around 7pm. I've eaten at this resturant few times this year & every single time I go in there I'm disappointed! I guess I was expecting a miracle to get hot food from this resturant today. The food is either barely warm or undercooked. Today before I placed my order ( which who appear to be a manager) & requested that my food be hot. I ordered Fried Shrimp, Mac n cheese and yams. I received my food and guess what just like EVERYTIME my food was cold the Mac n cheese was mostly lumps of unmelted cheese. By law buffet style food suppose to be kept at a certain temp!! I feel after paying almost $15 bucks for a dinner my food should be hot. The side items was also a small portion. I decided to request for my money back however which ended in a terrible disbute with the resturant manager who had a very bad attitude. She ended up ONLY refunding me for the $3 bucks for the Mac n Cheese side. I was more satisfied with my McDonald's meal I picked up afterwards. I will not be going back to this place. read more

The chicken here is great just like everyone says...BUT...I think a lot of everything has to do with what time of day you come. The problem is nothing is really served fresh to order. So if it's been a slow day the food just lacks that freshness it can have. I actually like Priscilla's food, but now they have gone up on the prices I'm a little hesitant to go. The chicken wings are very very small, so you go up, but you don't get more food. Also I think they should offer special's on certain days. You have to give your customers a good reason to come back, since the prices are so high. read more

Ugh, this place is hit or miss. You never know what you're gonna get. One day the dressing is excellent but on 3 other ocassions I got 3 different xperiences. Dog food, sweet corenbread purred for a baby and the last time jnust a clunk of dark brown looking stuff that was really sweet and unrecognizable. Dressing is usually savory, and they don't have it on display probably for that reason. The short ribs sit out so long that they are just burnt to a crisp but they will continue to serve them and be selfish while doing so. The prices are like 3.00 more than any other soulfood place but you get less. Their so incosistant I don't waste my time going here anymore. The best Southern cooking in town. Have been several times with the husband and we both loved every meal. Fried chicken is excellent as are ribs. Sides are amazing, always get the greens, plus sweet potatoes, Mac and cheese, green beans, or cole slaw, they are all great. Did not love the potato salad as it was more mashed than chunky. Pecan pie is a great dessert to spilt. We also sometimes split an entree plus a 4 sides plate, or Scilla Size up to an extra side, drink, and dessert. You just can't go wrong here. read more

I have gone to Priscilla many times. I have bought food there for my coworkers and myself. My coworkers have raved about the great jerk chicken, I rave about the oxtail. I've also had their catfish which delicious. My favorite is the collard greens. Basically all their food is great. They are 1 minute away from my house which is convenient, but a problem because I would eat there every day and gain sooooo much weight, lol. read more

Great fried catfish! I love their smothered chicken. Their collards are some of the best I have ever tasted, and I grew up with two grandmothers and a mom from Mississippi. A little pricey? Sure but you get what you pay for. They really screwed up a catering order. Ordered 15 smothered pork chops. They gave me fried chops. Ordered half pan of green beans with potatoes and the put 3-4 pieces of potatoes in the entire pan. They should have a better process in place for making sure the order is written correctly. They charge too much to keep getting the order incorrect. read more

I have visit this location twice because I have family in the area, the first time I was impressed the food was tasty or I was hungry came back for more last week this time I order 3 separate dinners an several side orders ! I drove 27 to 29 miles for this food the cashier was not the same she was very impatient not listen to what I said an put the order in wrong , I ask for the collard greens pork with less meat she put in turkey ones which was nasty tasting to me abt 5 or 6 orders was thrown out, the white navy beans was scotch the bread was dry, the chicken was tasty but its not clean all the feathers on tip of the wings, the fish was excellent the best of all. I spent 45.00 dollars on this food trying to treat others to bring more business no dinner was eaten just the meat, macaroni which I don't eat , I couldn't even give the food away no one would eat it,,On top of that I ask for everything bag separate so cheap with bags an put some of the sides on top of the tray canned yams juice spilled on the container just nasty, I called back after I got home ask for the owner one of the daughters said she was one of the managers so un concern so un professional , I explain to her my experience with the greens an navy beans which I came there for an I am a southern cook my self, she offer to replace the greens, an said to me I haven't taste the beans today I said I would wait for her to taste them she never left the phone she was trying to impress the people in the back ground by saying I give you 30 days to replace them just talking about the greens madam what would you like me to do I cant spend anymore time on the phone with you I got customer waiting ! This review is based SOLELY on customer service!!! Last Sunday the 29th, I called to place an order for carry out. The lady who answered the phone just said "hullo" with a rude tone and nothing else. I said "hi, I would like to place an order for carry out please" and she said "um hold on." I was placed on hold for 5 min and 37 seconds. She finally came back on the phone and asked "what did you need again." And I said "I would like to place an order for carry out please" and she said "we not doin that today." I said "oh well on your website and menu it says you do carry out Wed- Sun." Her reply was "did you not hear me, we not doin that today." And then I heard the dial tone. For a newer business in the area that is not a good way to come off to people. I managed a restaurant for 4 years and I understand at certain times in the day, there are rushes of people coming in to eat. Being busy though, is NO excuse to be rude to a customer. The customer on the phone is as important as the one in the store, because both are sources of profit for you!!!
