I've used this place for 6 years and I have never been disappointed. No it's not fancy, it's pretty funky in fact but the service is great--the guy even read me the label info the day I left my glasses at home! My passport photo actually looks like me, the keys he made worked the first time, my faxes get sent without having to re-try 5 times and all my packages have gotten shipped on time without any fuss, even during peak Xmas crunch time. I stopped by to mail a small box after the USPS closed next door. The workers were nice, but lacked some common sense.. After weighing the box, I asked what would be the cheapest way to mail it. He said, "well it's pretty light, what's in here? Maybe it can fit in a padded envelope." I didn't feel comfortable revealing the true contents (expensive & fragile electronics that I thought might get crushed in an envelope). But before I could even respond, he starts vigorously shaking my box! DUDE WHY ARE YOU SHAKING MY BOX!?! This isn't your christmas present. Don't go here unless you want your packages scrambled. read more

I don't agree at all with another reviewer's comment of this place. I went to this mailbox facility just the other day and the woman mail specialist completely made my day. I thought I was just going in there to mail a package, but her lovely, friendly, and warm demeanor made my experience one of the best I have had during this busy holiday season. Not only was she such a lovely human being, but also she expertly wrapped up and sent off my package, and it arrived at its destination in perfect condition just two days later! Love this place. Yeah they're a little slow but that's ok if your getting great service. Every Time I walk into this place I am greeted with a smile and they know my mailbox number off top! I have been going here now for over 4 yes and I will continue because they are loyal and genuine. I've had a PO box here for about a year. I get all sorts of mail in it for previous owners of that box, not a good thing. I wanted to mail a small box to the East Coast and have it get there in three days, and they wanted to charge me $120.00!!! What was in the box wasn't even worth that. I went next door to the Post Office and they provided the same service for less that $10. When that happened, I went back in and told them about the discrepancy, and they really couldn't have cared less. read more

I use this store for my business mail. Maybe I'm biased because this is the place that I go to pick up my checks, but it's a really great place. The staff is pretty courteous (a little on the odd side but very competent) and they really seem to have their business down. Recommend this place if you need a private mailbox. read more

Amazingly awesome and helpful. I read the few bad reviews and can't IMAGINE these things ever happening there. These guys do everything - I mean, everything. Passport photos, notary, scanning, shipping, printing, etc. I had their full attention for a full 45m minutes getting all my stuff taken care of in one place by the owner. Before I left he didn't just give me a receipt for all the packages with the tracking numbers. He had taken the time to write the names of the recipients on each receipt as well, so that I could make sense of the tracking numbers. The owner also noticed that I wasn't 100% sure of an address, so he gave me his business card and told me to call him by Monday at 10. He would hold the package in the cage until I was sure, if change it if I found a new address. So cool. Sorry about the other folks-i'm guessing it was a crummy employee. read more

Funky little spot, but convenient to my house near the lake, after having a couple packages disappear of my front stoop, I started using these guys for deliveries and shipments. I pay a yearly fee (20$) then 2$ per package (as of 2013).. since I do not have a mailbox with them this is a pretty great feature.. I typically have as-expected interactions with the service people at this location so I'm mystified and put off by the exchange I just experienced in which the elderly woman started strangely growling her words at me in an aggressive and dominating manner. ??? I felt pretty uncomfortable and left immediately, then went back in to ask the other attendant if he had witnessed the conversation. He simply said he hadn't heard it, that she was usually nice and shrugged his shoulders. There didn't appear to be any receptivity to registering my feedback so I dropped it and left. Unconscious racism? Or maybe she just didn't like me? I won't be returning here. read more

I rely on this place to get out all of my packages. They are friendly and nice even when I'm just dropping things off for pick up (ie, they arent making any money). I love this joint. My girlfriend goes here often to get stamps for our bills, because the post office nextdoor is like standing in a line for death. The guys that work there are super friendly and soooo efficient. We even get keyes cutting, copies, faxes, and notary papers done here. They do have a 5pm cutt off time for overnight services. We even walk in just to read whats on the bulletin board cause were old school. Great service, good vibes, and in my gf words sweet guys. Will always come here. Keep it up! read more

I live about a 10 minute walk from this place and have been here many times to send packages. The staff has always been efficient and helpful. When my uncle passed away, I needed a document notarized. The notary was very kind and gave me good advice. Here's a tip: If you want something notarized and in the mail by a certain time, don't wait until the last minute and show up without all your documents. If you forget a document, walk the three blocks home to get it while your spouse waits with the notary. I have been to other notary services and there's always only one notary. I feel fortunate to have this great local business nearby. read more

I'm glad some people have positive experiences here, but I'm one of the ones who definitely did not. My husband and I needed a document notarized and faxed before 5pm. We came into the store at around 3:50pm. We'd accidentally left one of the papers to be signed at home, and the notary, whom I assume is the owner, asked if we could come back the next day as he had an errand to run. Since we needed it faxed that day before 5, we said we could be right back, because we live 3 blocks away. He told us fine, but that he had to leave by 4:20. After almost breaking our necks in traffic home and back to get there in enough time, and paying for parking AGAIN, we walked in and were told he was not there! It was 4:08, and we were told "you can just wait, he'll be back", as if it were no big deal. If you can't trust a notary to keep his word, then as far as I'm concerned, he's useless. And why is there just one notary, as someone else said? The place is also an atrocious, messy wreck. All things add up to just abysmally bad business, and I'll never return. read more

This place on the inside looks like a "Junk yard" & (LITTLE HOLE IN THE WALL) THEY CRAM your packages up in a very tight space around (Laura, "the owner") "junky desk", and against the front counter with barely any light to see where your package is at. You'll think they can't afford good lighting. They loose your mail, cause they are unorganized , with very tiny space & they don't know where they put your packages. And it's very musty & stinks .Carpet on inside smells like mildew , which your packages are sitting on top of. The place looks like a Heath Hazard. Your boxes stink coming out of this place. Carpet needs disinfecting, counter is dusty & junky. What a horrible place to receive mail. read more

awesome. beyond awesome. this is my after work spot--drop off spot that is. when i can't depend on UPS or FedEx to do a pick up I usually come here (yes they take both, although last call is 4:30pm). I see the same guy at the counter each time and I swear he gets more helpful as time passes! case in point: I've been meaning to get get visa/passport pictures. school has me swamped and i can barely manage to catch up, let alone set time aside to make or take passport pics. i came in to drop off a drug shipment, and viola! 5 minutes for awesome passport pictures. so much that i am making my yelp picture the passport pic, and you can judge for yourself (i scanned it in case I need more for travel purposes). great pictures, honest, reliable advice, TOP NOTCH SERVICE. i had to get his name: Raymond, if you ever see this, thank you! you are awesome! see you around! read more

I have a UPS store within 2 minutes of my apartment but I choose to walk much farther to Private Mailbox, near the Grand Lake Theater. This store is definitely my favorite mailing location. The people are great and they are super clear about pricing. P.M. Customer service and friendliness seem to be more important than getting the most money, from the customer, out of each transaction, that's why I keep coming back. Also, they're located next to the Post Office so if I have a load of packages for the mail and UPS or Fedex, I can do it in one trip. This place is great! read more

Used this location to fedex client's laptop back to client office. VEry bad experience, awful service. Brought laptop around 11am and asked to pack and ship. They do not have original FEDEX forms, they use their own and then retype into fedex self-service to print the label. I paid $135 for 2nd day air. Asked for the tracking number - they said "it takes time to process shipment" and promised to call before 1pm with the tracking#. Never happened. Called them at 1:10pm - the lady said she doesn't know what I am talking about. My wife went there in person as I had important conf call. While they didn't realize who she was, she was observing the store staff scrambling for the box with the laptop and calling me names such as "Mr. Grumpy". Then she introduced herself. They said they are packaging it and creating label. Gave her tracking number. LAter in the day it showed up on Fedex website - with the weight of 1 pound (for the laptop, yes). Called Fedex with compliant - they confirmed the correct destination but gave the box size different from what I saw in the morning. Now I will have a couple of sleepless nights waiting for what actually arrives at the client office. Needless to say, the staff wasn't even remotely apologetic - just rather rude and entitled to treat customers as they wish. Do not use this location - it is unbelievably bad. read more

I came here to ship my Yamaha keyboard and stand to San Diego. It's 88 keys, so relatively large and long. For a great price, Raymond custom made a box and packed it up. When I got to San Diego and opened it,. I was very impressed with how nicely Raymond had cared for my keyboard. The box and the packing were done expertly!
