Tried the n/a strawberry blackpepper soda. Ick. Tasted like I was drinking liquified pepper and the hint of strawberry was basically not there. I'm surprised that I got halfway through the glass. If you're looking to try one of the n/a sodas, I would recommend the ginger lime one. The pretzels are still on point and they still have IT'S-ITs. Driving through the area it's located in, you will probably think, "Where is this place? Am I going to the right address?" Because this is exactly what I was thinking. Despite its strange location, Prizefighter is a hip bar that offers an amazing selection of cocktails. Similar to what other reviews have said, I do wish that Prizefighter had more snacks on their menu. Not many seats inside but this could have also been because the entire back area was reserved when I came there. Patio area is pretty sweet with heat lamps but too dark in the evening. Better if there were lights hung around the patio area. No happy hour prices! Hence, the three star rating. read more

What can I say...Prizefighter has consistently delivered on quality cocktails in a fun, relaxed atmosphere whether it's inside the expansive bar area or out in the patio under toasty heat lamps on a cold winter night. While I wasn't so familiar with the recent mezcal specials that were available during my last visit, I certainly appreciated their bringing attention to some of the more out of the ordinary libations out there. Absolutely loved this place was great great environment great crowd(young east bay tech crowd),drinks were great whiskey selection was very vast extremely knowledgeable bartender. Too bad it was raining. This beer garden has always been tempting as we drive by. But still inside it's mildly boxer themed and has a skeeball table inside. Limited tables, cause it does crowd on weekends. But they have two sofa seating areas and high tables/chairs inside in back. Definitely will be one of our new local spots. Love this place! All their drinks are very well balanced, creative, and made with fresh ingredients. They have a well selected beer menu and wine on tap. I've been coming here for years now and love that my well behaved dog is able to join me as well. My boyfriend and I have been into Mezcals lately and we were delighted to discover on our last visit that Prizefighter has an amazing selection! The bartenders are super knowledgeable and were really into it. We had a great time tasting! My only suggestion is that they increase the music a little bit. I also noticed this last time the place seemed really loud. Increasing (yes increasing) the volume on the music slightly can actually make it easier to have a conversation as it drowns out the background noise and provides cover for your private conversation. The shuffleboard basically made the night :) Don't remember the drink that much (got bees knees for $10 which was aight). I do remember the bartender who was super nice and friendly. I told her there was an ant in my drink, semi nervous she would give me passive aggressive attitude, but I was completely wrong. "Oh no!" she exclaimed. "Ants completely change the taste of drinks! Kid-unfriendly, to the point of being hostile. They don't allow any kids, which is fine, but you have to hunt around their website to the end of their FAQ section to learn this. If you don't happen to locate that language in little white font, they don't answer their phone for any reason, so that avenue is closed if you might want to ask directly. And they can take all day to answer an email asking a similar question. If you do show up with your kid, God forbid, you will be asked to leave immediately, with no time to arrange with friends where to meet afterward. I understand alcohol licensing rules, but if it's that big of a deal, they should post this no-kid rule somewhere more obvious on their website. A lot of us have these sorts of logistics to work out, and the staff could adopt a much less arrogant attitude about it. read more

Prizefighter really knows how to make a damn good drink. I've been coming here consistently since working in the Bay and I have to say it is one of my favorites. I would recommend ordering a Moscow Mule. The bartenders are very courteous. I left my ID there once and the woman bartender was very nice in helping me retrieve it. The atmosphere here is quite modern/rustic. Has a living plant wall and a shuffleboard table. Also, an outside seating area is provided with patio heaters. Easily one of the best bars in the east bay if not the east coast. Love the ambience. The selection of whiskey and other spirits is impressive. The bartenders take pride in their cocktails and you can tell by the final product. Shuffle board inside is very fun. The indoor seating is nice, however I love their patio. Pretty cool bar. I really like the set up this bar has. It has an industrial feel to it. The patio is nice to hang out outside. They have heaters too, but I do recommend a jacket just in case. The inside is a bit more spacious with places to sit. It also has a shuffle board table to play on. The bar is also located inside. The drinks are pretty good. Decided to check this place out because a good friend of mine kept talking about it when I'd ask for bar recommendations. Finally decided to stop by after a dinner with friends nearby and will keep coming back! Definitely a popular hangout as it was packed each night I've visited. They play some great music, have shuffle board, and have indoor and outdoor seating available. Their shtick is that they don't carry any spirits made with artificial sugars or flavors (no schnapps or anything like that). They have a great selection of beer, wine, as well as specialty cocktails available. Make sure you try Jack Rose or Abuelita's Old Fashioned(if it's still on the menu). Their punch bowls are delicious and are huge, so don't even think about attempting one alone or less than 4 people. The first bartender who took care of us was Kit. Boy, what a sweetheart. She's such a PYT and probably the nicest, sweetest bartender I've ever met. She can make a stiff drink, so watch out if you're a cheap date. On another occasion with my other half and one of my girlfriends, I met Martin. Great guy who had tasty recommendations all night long wirh a great sense of humor and is quite the cutie. Then there's Carlos, I met while celebrating a dear friend's birthday another night. Another cool guy who works here and a looker too. This bar is amazing and I can see why they're top rated not just in the bay area, but nationally as well. Shout out to a couple of the bar backs I know, Zane, and Ryan! I came here for my 24th birthday. I was unable to rsvp one of the big tables (they have two) due to me emailing them late but I arrived before 9pm and found an area for my 6 guests to sit. We ordered a celebration punch, although we found the ginger ale a little too strong, the bartender happily fixed the drink for us until the punch tasted perfect. The bartenders are really friendly, they accommodated my guests throughout the night. This is a nice quiet place to come and chill. Great bar with excellent drinks. Nice outdoor seating. This is a great place to go and have a few drinks in a low-key, relaxed space. I don't remember having to yell at all from the noise, but it's lively enough to still be exciting and interesting. Good music. I didn't realize this is such an "it" place (for Emeryville at least). My date and I met up with his friends who live in the area and apparently this is their go-to spot and they know several of the bartenders. The outside yard area is super cute and I'm sure it's fun to sit there in the summer but the cold Bay Area winter has not been kind. There was some sort of private party that took up half of the bar so we had to fight for some seats near the door. The ladies drank Moscow Mules - you know that's my favorite drink but Prizefighter lost a star by not using copper mugs. This place features more tequila-based drinks than your average bar, but it's a full bar, so whatever. I chatted with the bartender about what I liked and she recommended me a bourbon-based drink and it was hands-down one of the best I've ever had (no, I won't tell you what it is. My friends and I were in town for a wedding and wanted to get together the night before to catch up. This place was perfect for this purpose. The music wasn't too loud and it wasnt too crowded. It was a lively friday night, but i appreciated that people were standing up and hovering around the sitting areas. The drinks were stiff and and prices were reasonable. I did have one of their non-alcoholic beverages that tasted like straight up white balsamic vinegar in a glass with ice. Very interesting, and definitely a sipper. LOL. The location is both good and bad. Good because we didnt struggle to find parking because it was on the outskirts of town. Bad because if we were walking there, I would be a bit nervous because it is in such an industrial side of town with no other storefront businesses around and dark allyways and street. Overall, I am a fan of this place and will be back next time we are in town! read more

The cocktails are creative but was a little too strong for me. The atmosphere is buzzing with a very diverse crowd. Great vibe here with a late 20's-mid 40's crowd, great beer selection and beautiful cocktails. Largest liquor selection I've ever seen! Indoor or outdoor seating. Located in a very unexpected area, which makes it that much cooler. You'll think there's nothing there, but the entrance is thru a wooden gate on Hollis. Drinks are nicely done. Not too loud so you can have a conversation. They have a shuffleboard table! The bar is Dog-friendly which is nice but please note that dog-friendly means friendly to dogs who know how to behave. If your dog has leash aggression, do him & everyone else a favor and leave him home. Well I used to be a total regular when this joint was Kitty's. A bunch of my friends who lived in Emeryville or occasionally some who lived nearby would swing by here at least every other week for HH. Well maybe we were there more than that! Everything about the Prizefighter appears to be everything that Kitty's was for the most part. You have the great patio area to enjoy a cocktail or beer and talk about anything and everything with friends or strangers. The ramp around the edges made a great overflow area to hang out at until a table(s) would open up. Perfect to bring a bite of grub to and just let time go rolling on. The flora and fauna outside was very peaceful and relaxing as well. PRO TIP: Stay outside, unless its inclimate weather, as it is a much nicer way to enjoy this place. The interior was a typical bar set up with several tables and a U Shaped bar set into the middle of the room. Occasionally there would be some kind of music (DJ) or a game on (football). But mainly this was/is the local neighborhood hangout. Parking is anywhere on the street nearby and there is always a spot within a block. Several apartment complex's and condo towers are nearby here as well. Let alone a number of companies are located around the corner. This has always been a decent neighborhood hangout. read more

East Bay has the best bars, I'm so jealous! True, the Peninsula is good for dives (especially along the Caltrain line) and the craft beer/cocktail scene is starting to take off in South Bay, but they're several steps behind the likes of Hotsy Totsy, Kona Club, Dogwood and Prizefighter. What I love about Prizefighter especially is that there's no mixology snobbery going on... know what I mean? No speakeasy theme, no bartenders overdoing it with the shakers (really, do you need to hold that thing over your shoulder for more than a few seconds?) no silly suspenders or costumed hostesses, just awesome drinks and good energy. Wanna bring your dog? Sure! Play a little shuffleboard? Of course! Drink a French 75 while you do it? Even better. Punch bowls are great for groups, I've tried several types over many visits. And when your tastebuds start to go numb from the tang of alcohol and fruit, simply order a Calicraft brew. Or at least that's what I'd recommend. No food served here, but Rotten City Pizza is a stone's throw away. What more do you need? read more

Prizefighter appears to be the go to after work spot for the business folk in this neighborhood. I came early on a Monday and there were mostly older folks at the bar. It's much bigger and nicer than you would expect from the outside. I was half expecting a dive bar but it's totally not. When you have so much booze stacked up that the bartender needs a ladder to reach the true top shelf booze, you know the place is well stocked. They can make you any cocktail you would like for a price. That price was about $9-10 which is a few bucks more than I would like to pay. Then again, I'm more of a dive bar goer, so what do I know? Beer selection was pretty much random. They had everything from Half Moon Bay, Crappy Altamont, to more obscure breweries, yet mostly all from the greater Bay area. I went with a delicious DIPA from nearby Fieldwork Brewing. It was the only beer that came as a 12oz pour. Why not charge an extra dollar and serve it up as a proper pint? The bartenders weren't exactly friendly. I sat at the bar for a good five minutes before even being acknowledged. Once the other bartender came over, she was actually friendly and welcoming. I don't think service on the whole is bad here, just a bad experience with one lone bartender. I'll be back when I'm waiting for a hot Clif Bar employee to come meet me at the bar... Prizefighter maybe one of the best complete bars I've been to in a while. There are plenty of good wine bars, high end cocktails and dive ones. However ones that rep on all fronts well? very rare. They separate the booze types into "bouts"; cocktails, beer, wine, sodas (boozy and non), punches and mezcal. All with quality offerings. Jack Rose, 212 and Prizefighter Punch were all excellent. The space is low key and out of the way, but definitely worth seeking out. The partners and staff are all awesome and they took really good care of us. If I could only move this bar about 40 miles south west and I'd be there all the time. read more

Cool bar, great place. Last time I was here, the place was know as " Kitty's". I loved the ambiance and vibe then; just minus a bit of an attitude from one of the "ultra hip, cooler then thow," bartenders working at the time of my visit. Other then that, I loved the trendy, artsy environment; as well as a few craft cocktails I indulged in on that visit; Prizefitgher has carried over that trendy, ultra cool vibe but is just set up with a different interior arrangement, and equipped with a far more friendlier set of bartenders, that certainly make some killer drinks. Myself and a group of colleagues came here after work. We got a nice little spot outside to sit at. They have an EXCELLENT, selection of craft style cocktails, leaving you with great anticipation to potentially try them all ;) They don't serve food, other then a warm pretzel and maybe one other snack option. There is a pizza spot close by however, that they allow you to bring into Prize. I started our early evening off with a drink called " Bee's Knees" I forget exactly what the drink consisted of, however it tasted superb! I then had some sort of whiskey concoction that a fellow colleague was indulging in and let me try; after one sip, I knew I had to have one.....it too was excellent in taste ( and I'm not a whiskey drinker) and was strong :) Service from the bartenders working, were all top notch, and certainly know how to execute a well cocktail.
