Did nice work with our small job repairing broken grout in a bathroom and for a kitchen counter.

The first time I used Progrout, I was very satisfied with the results that I got. However, I had them do some repeat work and got less than satisfactory results. The first time the work was done by the manager, and I presume owner, and the work was excellent. However, the second time he sent a couple of other people to do the work, and the results were quite poor. They forgot to seal the new grout that was put in place. And then, in another case where I asked to have the shower grout resealed , the application was spotty. It appeared that areas were missed. This company once provided excellent work but it has gone downhill. As a result, I cannot recommend them. read more

Had a very small job of a hole needing to be re-tile after having our plumbing worked on, we had problems of anyone wanting to help. Pro Grout crew came in and helped us with our problem. We hired Pro Grout to just regrout our kitchen floor. Upon starting the project and removing a few tiles, they found it was installed improperly by the original tile setter. They thoroughly explained what we were dealing with and we agreed that their assessment of the issue was correct. We decided to upgrade the project to a full-on replacement. Given this, the crew worked diligently throughout the completion. Joe, Angel, and the rest of Thien's workers did an excellent job and tried their best to finish the work in as fast a time as they could. There were some miscellaneous hiccups that needed to be addressed but Thien was very easy to work with. The Pro Grout team was honest, courteous, thorough and professional. Thien came by the very next day after I contacted him here - he had actually responded to my message within an hour! - and we set up a time. At first I was concerned that he hadn't gotten all the info I was telling him but the gentleman that arrived a week later - right on time! - was very prepared and got right to work. When I asked about certain areas, Joe went and got his wife who is a cleaning professional and they made that shower shine! It had oversized tile and everything, but we had no damage to that. They even cleaned the glass door / wall. Let me back up - we needed someone to not only clean the tile and grout but also to repair the missing / damaged grout and to seal everything up. The contractor who'd done our shower last year had not sealed it properly and water was leaking under the pan. Thien's guy had an ingenious way of getting the water out before he sealed it all up. The team at Pro Grout just finished a job at my six year old house cleaning and sealing my kitchen floor grout and my kitchen granite countertops. They also replace the grout caulk around backsplash perimeter. They did an amazing job! Showed up on time ready to work understanding exactly what we needed done. I've never experienced such professionalism and attention to detail. While the wife and I attended to our day jobs, they vacuumed and cleaned and scrubbed and attended to every detail of the job. We reviewed the color of the grout sealing stain to make sure it matched original grout, and made sure grout caulk around backsplash matched original builders spec. At the end of the project, they sealed the granite making it look like the day it was installed. Awesome job! We had a not great experience with Pro-Grout. We hired them to tile a kitchen and bathroom in an apartment we were renovating. They really seemed out of their comfort zone. They may be good for smaller grout cleaning and re-grouting on already laid tile, but as tilers they were clearly deeply out of their depth. We let them move forward at their extremely slow pace, but when they left a faucet running at the end of the day and caused a couple thousand dollars worth of damage to the unit below, we had to let them go. These things are always difficult, but they handle themselves in a cooperative and dignified manner during the unwinding process, so thanks and +2 stars for that. read more

Excellent experience. These guys replaced some tile, refreshed the grout in our shower and vanity, replaced a shower door and installed new shower fixtures. There were some issues with the shower door install, but they made time on Easter Sunday to get back out to fix it to make sure the job was done right. Fair prices, friendly and respectful crew. Total professionals who obviously love what they do! I had two bathrooms and the kitchen that needed some minor repairing to prevent water damage happening behind the grout and tiles and they took great care to make sure that they got the colors right and that I was completely happy. It actually looks better than it did when it was brand new! We had a great experience with Thien and team. Our job was complicated by the fact that we needed to replace our steam shower generator and controller, so it involved electrical and plumbing work (at least I could run the internet cable). Thien is the manager, and the hardest working man in the grout business. Jugo, the plumber, was great to work with, and Angel and his wife Silvia and are joy to be around. This whole crew works incredibly hard. Our job was 4 days long, then 3 days for the epoxy grout to set. It came out beautifully, and I enjoyed having all of them in my house. I have a 5' tile display on a wall in my patio that needed repair. Half of the display tiles came loose and detached from the wall. Thien's employee, Joe, did incredible work to restore the display to its original look. Joe is a true artist in this field of tile work. He was able to remove old grout, use the old tiles, and shape the tiles as needed to reconstruct the display. Can't say enough about this company! We needed complete caulking and grouting of our kitchen, guest bathroom and master bathroom. The owner came to our home and made a thorough inspection and provided his recommendations. He took notes throughout. Shortly thereafter, we received an itemized proposal so that we were in no doubt about the work that would be done. Due to the size of the project, there always were 2 or 3 workers. Bought a house, and the stall shower had some holes and cracks in the grout--more than I was comfortable DIYing. I posted a request on Friday and got a quick reply from them to set up a time to come to my house for an estimate on Monday. Thien came by and I had an estimate maybe 5 minutes later. Rather than patch here and there, they recommended a full redo of the floor, which made sense to me. My job was slotted in for a week or so later, but I asked them to keep me in mind if they had any opening, and voila!, they did. Hugo showed up on time, got right to work. He needed a different kind/color grout, so ran to Home Depot, then came back and finished. He didn't like the look of some of the grout in the door frame, so did that too. I was working from home, and every time he needed to turn on the fan or was about to make some noise, he came to ask if I would be OK with the noise. Who does that??? I was excited about contacting Thien based on his reviews but was disappointed after contacting him. To clarify, this isn't reviewing his actual tile regrouting or work, but customer contact. Thien seemed uninterested after I asked for a non in person quote responding in one-to-few word answers and requiring questions to tease answers. He also didn't give me an actual price on anything I asked. Example.. "Do you do re-tiling?", "Yes I do", "Would you provide tile and install or do we need to buy the tile? Can you provide a cost estimate?", "You need to buy the tile" To be fair, after sending him pictures he did say it would be cheaper to replace the tile than regrout, and I did appreciate the honesty. read more

Communication and scheduling an inspection was just fine. The owner came out and looked at the work to be done. Who replaces the grout on the sides of their shower but doesn't replace it on the ceiling at the same time? Both I and my partner recall him saying "it would be $400 but with the ceiling being tiled, it will be $650". He was right there looking at the shower area. Come the day of service (again, great communication about scheduling), the worker showed up about 20 minutes late but the owner had called to advise of this. No problem. After about 10 minutes, the worker (Angel) called me and said it would be $300 more to do the ceiling! I explained to him that the owner had quoted us $650 and included the ceiling in the bid. Angel said it wasn't up to him. I told him goodbye - not having any tolerance for bait and switch behaviors by businesses. The owner has left a message on my voice machine saying he "didn't see the ceiling tile". Aside from being a total load of b.s. given our conversation about price with and without the ceiling, it's his JOB to look over the worksite. This wasn't even an estimate via photos, he actually came to our house. Based on this interaction, I have no confidence in the quality of their work and will find someone else to do the job. Already have another quote for $650 and it includes the ceiling!!! UPDATE: The owner has been hounding me. Although I asked him to stop contacting me through email, he has now come to MY HOUSE twice!!!! Last time I reiterated that I wanted no contact with him. Today he showed up again, flashing 3 one hundred dollar bills at me if I would talk to him. It's like he was trying to buy me off to get rid of this unhappy review. I told him if he comes here again I will call the police. He's creeping me out with his stalking. This is NOT the way a normal business owner acts. Please see Kerry W's review; this is NOT the first time this owner has said one thing and done another. He doesn't write anything down when he's estimating so perhaps he gets confused (as he mentioned in one of his many voicemails) but that's not my problem. He seems to think I owe him something - but the fact is he screwed up and I moved on. read more
