UPDATE: after my review was placed, the driver tried to call me first thing in the morning. I had no desire whatsoever to talk to him. Finally after calling the business multiple times I got to speak to the owner. Who's response was "I know the guys did a horrible job" he said he would reimburse me for the stained mattress, I didn't realize until days later that they damaged my washer, and also to call a carpet cleaning company to remove the stains from the carpet and he'd also reimburse me for that. Well I mailed everything and I never got reimbursed. Companies like this one are just too much of a hassle to deal with. I just don't have the time and energy to deal with greedy people. read more

MOVERS BEWARE!!! Please do not use this company. Please, please, please. I am an Air Force military member and have moved many times in the past few years from California to Arizona, Arizona to Germany, Germany to Arizona, Arizona to Tennessee and plenty of times around the city and around the world. Out of all the times that I have moved, even when I had my items shipped from overseas I have never had any broken/ dented items. It took the movers 2.25 hours to load items that took .75 hrs to unload. I was not only penalized by my property management company for exceeding my 5pm time limit but also charged for their extra hour of services. This company showed up with three men when I had initially requested two. I don't have a lot of things since I lived in a 600 sq ft apartment and I had previously packed all of my items in boxes with the exception of my wardrobe items because I read in a post below that the boxes were to be provided for an easy move. When the men got there only one man was working which was Artemas the driver/owner which he took a lengthy time wrapping up all my furniture in plastic and moving blankets; the second mover was moving boxes out slowly out the complex and the 3rd mover was doing god knows what inside the truck. After 2 hrs of seeing no progress with the move I got so frustrated I had to call for extra help from my brother. When 4pm hit I had to tell the men to stop and to head out to the new complex to avoid extra penalties. At this point they were only half way done with my 600 sq ft living space items. As I was leaving my complex I noticed my fire extinguisher was damaged/ broken in the ground and was brushed behind a door to hide the evidence. I took a picture of this to document. We arrived at the complex and as we arrived the property manager offer to help unload to help speed things up and get out on time. The movers were helpless I still ended up moving and doing heavy lifting myself and inconveniencing others which is why people hire movers to avoid these issues. When the property manager saw the items that were inside the truck he commented that he couldn't believe it took them 3hrs to move the little bit of items that were loaded in the truck. We unloaded all the items in 45 minutes which incurred just the same distance back and forth from truck to property along with elevator included. Horror doesn't end there. As we unwrapped the items to hand back the blankets i noticed a huge dent on the side of my wooden bar. I pointed that out to them and asked if i was going to be reimbursed for the damages. Artemas, responded defensively and said that neither him or his men did it without even asking his men. When I asked him to stop speaking for his men and let them speak he asked his men in a demeaning manner if they had made the damages. None of them admitted to the damage and then said that I did the damage when I was unloading the bar from the truck and that he was not liable for it. I told him I would file a complaint at a later date and would contact the company, but I guess I am Shit Out of Luck since he is the owner of course there is no need to fear being liable for things. They also at end of the move made us return the wardrobe boxes so i ended flipping all my clothes upside down to on the floors of my bedrooms to get them out as soon as possible. This issue will be directed to the Better Business Bureau for any disciplinary actions on this business. But for now please beware of this company. I would suggest to go with a different company to avoid any physically, emotionally, and financially heartache. read more

I'll start with the positives. The movers were very courteous and polite and respectful when talking to me. I used a Living Social deal to book these movers. I used a different moving company when we moved from Escondido to La Mesa. I should have called them again. They sent two guys who moved us in 3 hours, including travel time and including furniture set-up. This move was significantly shorter distance, had the same amount of stuff, so why did it take 3 guys (started with two but one suggested I call for a third) 6.5 hours to move us?!?!?! The extra guy and extra time cost me more than twice what I anticipated for this move. Again, the movers were very nice but I saw no hussle. Yes, we were in an upstairs apartment but the other two guys had no issue moving all our stuff into the apartment at break-neck speed. I wonder if the day of the week had anything to do with it. Previous move was on a weekend so it's likely the movers had other jobs to get to. This move was on a Tuesday so maybe they didn't feel the need to rush. No matter, it took ridiculously long and cost way too much. At least they honored te voucher. I will definitely use the other movers from now on, though. read more

I like to itemize things to make it easier. Let's begin. 1.) Communication was clear that time started when they leave Clairemont. 2.) They arrived on time. 3.) They covered all of my furniture, paintings, mirrors, etc with blankets, since I did not bubble wrap them myself. 4.) Put all my small boxes into bigger boxes, expediting the services. 5.) Put up with my crazy tiger asian mom pointing and asking a million questions, and did it with a smile. 6.) Did not complain once about the double stairs, hills, driveway, oh my god, those boys definitely got their leg day in. 7.) Tore down my bed and set it up perfectly for me. 8.) I was worried when I found these guys on Amazon....not gonna lie. I called and they told me the clock started ticking when they leave their office in Clairmont and ends when they get back. I thought FOR SURE they would stop off for some coffee on my dime....but NO! They were awesome! They showed up...took inventory....and got to work! They were fast, professional, and my stuff showed up at my new place in the same condition as when it left....unlike the time I had my Dad help me move...love you Dad...but don't EVER touch my furniture again. I initially found this company through Groupon but did my research and despite a few negative reviews here decided to go with ProMoves because they are the only ones who I felt were up front with me on the phone about giving me a good estimate of what I could expect my costs to be over and above what the Groupon would cover and they went out of their way to accommodate my schedule. I am so glad I went with my gut and hired them! I could not be happier with the way the move went! These guys were fantastic! They called 30 minutes before the scheduled time to confirm time and place, they were there on time, they got to work right away and worked hard continuously! They took great care with my items, even showing more concern for our stuff than my husband did when it started raining, they hustled to move the items he had put out side (not yet in the truck) either into the truck or back under coverage so it would not get soaked. Pro Moves showed up within the time frame they promised and the guys they sent were friendly. But that's about all I can say that is on the positive end. I would be hesitant to hire them again because the movers broke my bed frame. The guy felt really bad about it and spent a lot of time trying to fix it, but that time spent trying to fix it ate into the moving time and they ended up taking much longer than they should have. I mentioned several times that it was clearly irreparable but the mover didn't want to be blamed for it (it was obvious) and was trying to fix it regardless. Moving sucks. But it sucks a lot less when you hire Pro Moves. I called and spoke with Art. He was polite and courteous. He advised me that the Groupon deal I saw wasn't really a deal at all. 2 guys/1 truck/2 hours for $69. In that "deal" the time starts when they leave their yard and ends when they return. That significantly eats into the actual moving time. He offered 2 guys/1 truck/3 hours for $175 cash ($200 debit/credit). The time does not start until they arrive and start your move. Art told me I would receive a call from the movers before they left their yard. Just as scheduled George called to say they were on the way. George and Jonathan arrived exactly on time. They checked out the move to see what they were up against and immediately got to work. Refrigerator, keg-er-ator, king bed, two dressers, two curio cabinets, a bar, recliner, couch and a BBQ grill. Everything was carefully wrapped and secured. They treated our stuff with care and they were respectful of us. They loaded up, delivered to our new house and off loaded well within the allotted three hours. I hope I don't have to move any time soon, but if I do I am definitely calling Pro Moves. Got a good deal on groupon. When you call the young man answering the phones is very polite and is very clear about how the time starts when they leave their office and what the extra fees are if you go over your time. The two movers Ralph and George were polite, professional, and fast. These are real movers trained how to wrap and maneuver stuff properly...they aren't just some college kids doing a side gig. This is a legit professional moving company with a huge truck and professional supplies. They showed up exactly on time without trouble finding the place and worked very hard. This service was awesome! Definitely would recommend Pro Moves. This was my first time being able to hire movers, and the fact that I wasn't breaking my back trying to move everything myself really took a huge amount of stress off of me as I have a really busy schedule. What probably would've taken me an entire day and 3 friends to help took 2 hours (for two rooms) with the guys that helped me. And with the 3 hours for $175 deal, I thought it was definitely worth it. The only reasons I am putting 4 stars instead of 5 is because: 1) they were late and arrived at 6p when I had reserved service from 1-4p. It wasn't a huge deal for me though, as I had cleared out my schedule that evening to move and was actually better since I didn't have to get work off. They were also really apologetic about it and explained the prior client just had way more stuff than anticipated, so it was understandable. 2) There was a couple of furniture that had a little damage around the corners. I had asked for a quote but they said they were on his dime and to call the office for one, they didn't want to take his time away which I thought was great. I asked for George and Jasper because they were the ones who came the first time. They called when they were on their way. Had a huge truck, all the equipment needed to wrap and unwrapped furniture. They bring tools in case something needs to be done. They will take apart furniture and put it back together again once it is delivered and set up. They even helped give me input with where to put things and how best they looked. Jasper's a Godly man and it was nice to chat as he moved. George is big and the quieter one but very sweet and kind. He's the Boss on the job. They are very fair in price and will give you an estimate upfront and really try to make it close. Let's start with the fact that I do not give five stars, but these guys earned everyone. The best money spent in this entire new home endeavor. Now I was not there for the packing, but my wife could not say enough about the professionalism, care and hard word. By the time they got to our new home to stay unloading 10 years of accumulated life and 4 hours were neatly wrapped and packed into their truck. The next 2 hours were amazing. I was searching on Groupon for different moving companies and I wanted to confirm they had availability before I purchased the Groupon. When I contacted ProMovers, they informed me that they had a better deal to offer. The special they had was the same 2 men, 2 hours and a truck BUT the time didn't start until they reached my house($175 cash/$199 card). That saved so much time and $ (and it beat the Groupon price). The fuel charge was only $25 as well. They are very hard and efficient workers. They moved us from a 3bd/2 bath house to a 3rd floor apartment in under 3 hours (including the double time for driving)! I would recommend to anyone moving! Amazing gentlemen and coming! Upon arriving to my new home it was found that my couch did not fit in the stairwell to make it into my home. George and Johnathan did not have the proper equipment to lift the couch over the balcony. I called Pro Moves to attempt to resolve the situation. I was informed that "we don't do that." I was never informed that Pro Moves could not do that type of work. It does not state that Pro Moves could not do that work in the contract I signed. This review is not for the work itself. The movers were amazing (10 stars+) who worked hard, fast, efficient, super friendly, great guys who made my move so easy and did everything perfect. However, I'm knocking four stars off for the "fine, fine print". I bought the Living Social deal they've been advertising and used it this past weekend. Two things that are BUYER BEWARE. 1) If your move goes over the time frame you bought it for (I bought 2 hours, it ended up taking 2.5 hours), the fuel that's listed as included in the fine print of the deal, no longer applies, as per the owner. Case 1 of the "fine, fine print". This amounted to $40 extra dollars that should have been covered by the merchant. 2) If you use a card, you will be charged $35 to do so. I was aware that there would be a charge for the card, however, $35 is EXTREMELY excessive especially when all they're doing is calling the card in, not even using Square or some other card reader than you have to pay to use. I used to use one of these card readers and even then, I NEVER marked my customers up that much to cover it because I didn't need to. Most place you go that charge you to use a card, add $0.50 or a $1. $35?!?! Case 2 of the fine, fine print. That I would incur a charge for using my card was disclosed to me, that I would encourage a charge of $35 to have the guys call in my card number, is absolutely ludacris. All totaled, I ended up paying an extra $75 due to these "fine, fine print" items. While the work was exceptional, these hidden extra fees left a sour taste to the experience. BUYER BEWARE read more

Dan B got a 2 hour outside of a scheduled window (1pm to 3pm for us and we booked last week). We got skipped entirely and they kept saying they will be there in 2 more hours over and over again. We needed to be out of our place by the day after our scheduled appointment. They requested that we change to next evening. I'd move things myself if I didn't have injuries hence why I went for a moving company. It is now 2:15 am the next morning and nothing. They were accommodating and courteous. However, I was estimated for 4 hours, said it took them 5 hours to move my 10x10 storage from 91950 area to 92115 area. They charge front the moment they leave their location to the moment they return their location. Oh, plus their $40 fuel charge! It didn't even take the prior company 4 hrs to pack my things and take to storage AND to a house. I DONT KNOW how it could have taken these guys sooo long to move such a small storage unit! I saw Pro Moves listed as a Living Social deal so gave them a call to see about availability. I was offered a better deal over the phone so I decided to go with it. I saw mostly good to great reviews so it helped seal the deal. The good: - Showed up within the time window. We stated 9am and they were there by 9:30am. Not bad. - The three guys were super friendly and really had a great attitude. - I had a few really complicated pieces and other movers have given me nothing but grief over them in the past. This team just took charge of the move and made it work perfectly. - They protected all my furniture and breakables carefully with blankets and other materials. They took real care for the most part. - They didn't seem to be wasting time (which I read a few reviews of). They kept the work going and while they weren't fast, they were definitely not slow. It was a steady job they kept up. - They offered me a few wardrobe boxes. This was a nice surprise. I was planning on just doing furniture and bringing the clothes in my car. By offering this, they saved me a trip and work. Hugely appreciated. The bad: - My dresser mirror attachment got snapped off. I heard it and looked back to see a very apologetic employee. He apologized and then jumped to finding a way to fix it. I appreciated his "can do" attitude and while I don't like to see things be broken, I think he made up for it. - My outdoor light from my first home was broken by one of the huge pieces of furniture. They told me about it, which I appreciated, but they didn't suggest to fix or reimburse me so I thought that was poor service. I'm still trying to repair the light actually, the light fixture seems to be okay but the light itself was shattered inside so difficult to get it out. - I went over the 3 hour estimate by 1.5 hours. I spent time having to deal with miscommunication while the worker called his boss. They were calculating an additional 2.5 hours and only when we had to talk it out did they understand their error. It worked out BUT at the time I was getting frustrated. They quickly realized the error though. Summary: These guys are hard working. I've used a number of movers and I think these guys have been my favorite. They were personable and got the job done without complaining along the way (I've had many who did this). While I did have a couple of issues - like still trying to fix my light at the old house, they went above and beyond on things we needed done. I'm happy to recommend them. This is a small company, I've used a big company before and I now prefer supporting small businesses. The owner Art is really nice! We found him on Groupon and he offered a better deal. The quote was for 3 hours and he finished in 2 hours. We moved from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom upstairs. He gets the job done and doesn't try to nickel and dime you! I cannot explain how AMAZING these guys were. My phone was acting up and they had a hard time getting ahold of me but as soon as we made contact they still were able to make it right away and they were so understanding as well. First off I had Edward and Anthony. They were fast! They had the whole place ((three beds a kitchen table that seats 8, living room, boxes, etc. )) packed into the moving van then drove like 20-30 minutes to my unit and unloaded everything into my storage unit in just under three hours. The storage unit looks great. Everything fit and was packed to perfection. The guys were super personable and just really very kind. I felt like I was with my longtime buddies and they were helping me move. Except for the fact that Edward and Anthony load and unload a house way faster than my buddies and I wasn't doing any of the moving! Also I shopped around a lot for prices and Pro Moves by far has the best rate. I will be using them again in the next few months when I unload my storage unit.
