Had them out to clean our chimney, and while they did a good job and the price was reasonable, my credit card got hacked from using them! They use the app Square to swipe your credit card on an iPad. I haven't used this app with anyone else, and started getting fraudulent charges through Square two weeks later. Obviously had to cancel my credit card, and called to let them know that either one of their guys had lifted my credit card number or their system had been compromised. They let me know they had been hacked "again." Apparently this happened last year as well. So they do a decent job for a decent price, but it's really not worth the hassle of having to do back charges, cancel your credit card and wait for a new one to come through because they can't figure out system integrity for accepting payment. For anyone else reading this, I had my chimney cleaned on August 18th, 2020, so if you've used them since then, definitely start checking your credit card statements. read more

Our home inspector, when we bought our house, made us very nervous about using our fireplace until it was officially inspected by a fireplace professional. My husband contacted Pro-Tech, who came out to do the inspection (they have all the special qualifications to do so). They were nice, efficient, and professional. Our house is old, and we didn't want anything to catch on fire the first time we started the fireplace. They assured me that everything looked great, and since we had a gas log, that we didn't need to worry about things catching on fire. They did tell me things to watch out for, and even taught me how to actually turn the gas log on and off. They didn't try to upsell me any products. I asked them about adding a spark arrestor to the top of the chimney, and they said they could install it for me or they told me how to buy it myself. I appreciated their honesty, and I didn't want my husband to fall off the roof (we're not handy people), so I asked them to go ahead and install it. I highly recommend! So glad I found them on Yelp. The owner, John, arrived on time. He and his assistant, Sean, spent approx 4 hours getting my chimney up to speed without taking a break. Good clean up. I got 3 other bids and he was not the lowest bid, but his price was very competitive. I ultimately hired him because I liked the fact that he does the work himself, has a no nonsense attitude, seasoned, down to earth, not pushy, reasonably priced. I previously reviewed John's work in January of 2014. This time we called him about a leaking chimney on another house. Every time it rained we'd hear an annoying and worrying drip, drip drip. On this house, the roof is very steep, and the chimney really high, well above two stories. John climbed up there, managed to disassemble a complicated and very heavy chimney cap, find the leak and fix it. He is both courageous and skilled. He saved the day. John's partner installed a fire glass gas set up and helped out while John worked the leak. John exemplifies the best in the skilled service industries. I had a leaking chimney where water would drip down the wall on the inside of the house down onto the mantle whenever it rained. I had two other companies come out over the course of a couple of years and "fix" the problem. (not a lot of rain here!) But it continued to leak when it rained. I had Pro-Tech come out and they fixed the problem. This was in November 2015. I wanted to wait until after a few rains to see if it was really fixed. So far so good! It has rained several times since then and I have not had any leaking into the wall. I hope this continues, it's nice to not have a wet wall and mantle. What an amazing company! We have a duplex with wood burning fireplaces in each unit. We contacted Pro-Tech to clean the chimneys and convert the wood burning fireplaces to fireglass. We had some other issues with our chimney cap and flues that they fixed in a jiffy! They were meticulous in their work - the fireplaces with the fireglass work beautifully and look amazing!! So clean and beautiful. Our flue works like new and the chimney cap and smoke guards they put in work like a charm. Price for all their work was incredibly reasonable. I was in dire need of a good chimney service and After being ignored and basically put on a wait list by 3 Bears Chimney, I went to yelp for the help an thank the Lord Jesus I found it! Not only was Pro Tech there on time, but they were so fast an diligent to clean out my horrific chimney with such ease & professionalism. On top of that I had mentioned to them my house was so cold the heater & water heater weren't working, so I was ecstatic to have my fire place to warm us up. The service technician asked where the water heater & central heater were located, and took it upon himself to educate me on how to work them, & how to turn them on! I found out that I actually do need a new water heater, and he was able to turn on my central heat with no hassle! Now my home will be nice & warm for my family of 4! They were extremely professional, arrived on time, and were able to clean and inspect our chimney. They were even able to look at the gas line that goes to our fireplace, and retrofit a pipeline so that we can now use the fireplace as a gas fireplace or as wood-burning.
