I went to Pro Techs on a Saturday to inspect a used Miata from a nearby dealer based on the Yelp reviews. At first I was impressed by the personable man who spoke with me when I dropped off the car, who promised to do a thorough inspection for $110 that would last a couple hours. Sounds great. I come back and they've found several problems with a car. Again, great, I was glad they looked into it. Really it didn't go down the tubes until it came time to pay. They had a card reader, but the guy gave me the old "oh, I'm sorry, our card reader is down/it needs more paper" rigamarole. That's shady and I wasn't happy, but I was willing to give it a pass because doing cash business is just how things work sometimes. But then, after giving him the cash, the guy tried the whole "oh, you accidentally gave me $20 less" act. First he makes me pay cash and then tries to con me out of $20? Those two little grievances called the entire integrity of the operation. Wouldn't go back or recommend it solely on that. One disclaimer: the man I spoke with said it was his nephew's shop, the nephew being away for a football game that day. Perhaps the nephew does business more professionally and is more trustworthy, but this guy also mentioned that the family had several shops. If this is how his uncle does business, what would lead me to think the rest of the family would be any better? Especially since the nephew was okay with this guy running the place. read more

What a find this place was! I took my car in for an oil change at Firestone and was told my water pump was leaking. The service was so bad at Firestone that I didn't want to deal with them anymore and I also needed a second estimate, so my friend told me about Pro Techs on Harbor in La Habra. These guys were so knowledgeable and helpful and beat the price and service I would have gotten from Firestone so I had them do the job. They completed the whole thing the day I brought it in and took it for a couple of test drives to make sure it was perfect. Outstanding! I had to find a new place to get my maintenance/oil change done since my free maintenance at the dealership had ended. I really wanted to find a place that I could trust to do a good job on my car with reasonable pricing and came across this place on Yelp. They accept appointments via phone or online through their website. Took my car in, no wait, and was out of there within 30 mins. The owner, Joe, is a very sweet person and was very informative about the service that was done and gave his honest opinion about a few questions I had. I hate places that try and upsell products/services especially if you're a girl, but this place does none of that! I've been coming to Pro Techs for mainly oil changes for my minivan and camry. Recently on my 2007 camry, I had a lot of lights coming up on the dash this past month and was worried that this would result in a lot of repairs and $$$ Joe and his team took a look and recommended a switching out one ignition rod and then seeing if that resolved the issue before doing a ton of other work. What I really appreciated was his approach and honesty. Instead of suggesting all that could be wrong and repairs, his approach was to repair one thing at a time to fix the issue. Took my corvette to get work done on ended up telling me I had to replace a pulley so I went on and did it 5 days later the car keep doing the same noise called and had them "fix it" 3 day later the harmonic balancer goes bad and they took over 2 weeks to fix it and when they fixed it they didn't even do it right I had to take my car to a performance shop just to pay for a whole another harmonic balancer because they couldn't do there job right with the correct equipment.. like why take in a car if you don't know how to do work on it so unprofessional don't come here. read more

One thing you need to remember that this place is not cheap, not too expensive but it's rather reasonable. My car has oil leaks forever and then a water leak and I know it's not the radiator. Some auto repair shop gave it a look and told me it's the radiator and I know it's not the radiator! So I just let it leaks until I found Pro techs on yelp. When I drove in I see a lot of cars line up in the lot waiting to be fix and the shop is very clean, that's a good sign. Everyone here is friendly and no BS. Joe's team found there are 3 leaks and they show me the spots! To fix the oil leaks cause me only $380 and I think the price is good. However the water pump replacement cause a little more then I expect because the coolant gets onto the timing belt and the belt has to go...well that's my fault. I've waited 6 months to review this place after the repair and this place does deserves 5 star! read more

These guys are honest and legit. I brought my car to them after spending time and money with other mechanics replacing parts after parts and the problems still persisting. ProTech guys said diagnosis will be $95 dollars but they will waive it if the work is done. Well they diagnosed it and the problem could be a number of things. There's no clear path and they don't want to just do the guesswork of replacing parts after parts. So they recommend I go to the dealership because they will have better diagnostic tools that matches my car. Protech guys also are not charging me for the diagnostic work they did! Even though they didn't end up doing any work on my car, I'll be sure to come back here because I feel better knowing they're not just going to fleece me. read more

This review has been long overdue, but Joe and his crew here at Pro Techs are hands down the best shop around. To say my Subaru had some problems is an understatement (full valve job, replace radiator, power steering issues, and TGV replacement). Joe and his crew brought it back to tip top shape and were very thorough with making sure everything was properly repaired and the car was purring. I had gone to several other shops in the area to do the same repairs and most of the shops either could not do the repair, or were expecting a ridiculous amount of money for the job. Again, Joe is an awesome guy, very honest and straight forward with his evaluations. He will let you know exactly what you need, and more importantly, what you don't need (to waste your money on).
