First of all let me say that for your general plumbing issues Prodigy has been great over the years. They replaced a water heater that blew a leak into our house and flooded a closet and bedroom. That was in 2020 right as the pandemic started. They were quick, responsive and fixed everything as well as got us connected with a water damage remediation company and worked with our homeowners insurance without issue. Fast forward to 2023 and our second water heater started leaking after 34 years! (Yes....crazy it lasted that long.) We called Prodigy to give us an estimate. They quoted us an astronomical number and tried to upsell us with several options I felt we didn't need. I was honestly blown away by the oversell we got. Needless to say I declined their offer and got two more estimates. I don't usually go with the lowest bid, from personal experience, but a friend recommended another plumber and we went with them for a third of the price! All I'm saying is there's no reason for any plumber to come to a nice house in a nice neighborhood and gouge the customer! Sorry to say that I won't be using Prodigy in the future. As a senior citizen, I'm careful about who I deal with for home repairs and I wholeheartedly recommend Prodigy Plumbing. They have always been quick to respond, are very reasonable in price, and are not just polite, but caring. Most recently they squeezed me in on a Saturday because my tub faucet had sprung a leak worrisome enough that I was afraid of a giant water bill. When Cole looked at my fixtures, he explained I needed a replacement cartridge and that my model was obsolete. He wasn't able to find the part, but said he could put in a new trim (faucet, etc.) or I could request the outdated replacement part from Delta, which has a "no-drip" guarantee. In the meantime, he showed me how to turn the water to the house off and on so I could stop the leak during the times I didn't need water. Cole gave me his number and stayed in touch. I called Delta, who ended up sending out the wrong part--which I didn't discover until Kevin rushed out from Prodigy to install it. Cole and Kevin each took their time to explain parts and procedures. They were competent and respectful. And as nice as they were to me, they are representative of the company on a whole. From my first call to Prodigy Plumbing several years ago, I have been consistently met with genuine helpfulness from everyone who has picked up the phone. Their customer service is superb. When I finally had the right cartridge, Kevin was back (again on a Saturday), and got everything fixed up beautifully. Thank you, Kevin and Cole, for your good work and your kindness to me. I had a clogged main sewer line so I called prodigy for their $99 deal. They show up with a little wimpy machine and tool, attempted to clean it out but said they couldn't clear out the clog. They said they had to bring in a hydro-jet machine and it was going to cost me $1,200. After I said no thank you, they wanted to charge me anyway just for coming out. I called someone else who was able to clear it out in 5 minutes for $100. Total bait and switch. read more

Our kitchen sink had backed up and we had another plumber come out to try and snake it. They were unable to clear the clog and recommended a more expensive Hydro jetting procedure be done. I called prodigy plumbing and they had someone there the next day. When Alexsis initially tried to snake my sink it did not work because the length of the snake was too short. So I had Prodigy come out to clean my drains mostly precautionary. On the positive side they are responsive: however, (George) quoted me almost 1000.00 to clean 3 drains. I have been using Prodigy for around 10 years, since Mark started the company. There's a good reason that they have grown steadily since: GREAT SERVICE EVERY TIME. This time we called this morning because of a sewer smell in the bathroom. I was told they would have someone here by 11:00 and Shane actually got here early. (how often does that happen when you have a problem)? Shane couldn't find the problem mostly due to the lingering effects of loss of smell from COVID so a couple of hours later Ozzy showed up. After a quick inspection under the house (ive been there and it's super tight and incredibly hard to crawl to the bathroom area) he discovered a dead rat. Prodigy did a lot of work on our house when we first moved in, and we thought they'd done a good job. Slightly pricey, but we wanted quality work. Fast forward two years and the pipes they claimed to have replaced started leaking. We called them and despite the fact that it was their work that was defective--and the fact that they said we had a free inspection--they told us they wouldn't come out without charging us a service call fee. We ended up finding a different plumber who came out, opened up the wall, found and repaired the leaking pipe and joint, and did an excellent job cleaning up Prodigy's mess. These guys will do the bare minimum to address your problem. Their goal is to upsell you on an expensive - often unnecessary job. My kitchen sink was backed up. The only people available to come out that day were Prodigy (first red flag: they are VERY available). My regular plumber had a job in San Diego and couldn't make it for 5 days. I scheduled him and had prodigy come in the meantime. They came to my house to snake the kitchen. Took apart all the piping underneath which made a mess. snaked it with a snake the width of a pencil. Then sold me something to put down the drain ($75) and gave me a quote for $2k to install a cleanout so they could do the high pressure washing of the pipe which is what they said it needed. This was odd because we had just remodeled the house/kitchen down to the studs. If I needed a clean out surely they would have put one in right? (SECOND RED FLAG) Sink backed up AGAIN within a day (THIRD RED FLAG). Prodigy is "gauranteed" but if they come out again, do the same shitty job and tell you "see, this is why you need to do the thousands of dollars of work we recommend" then the gaurantee is just another chance for them to give a sales pitch. So my real plumber comes out 5 days later. Says the cleanout is via the vent on the roof, went on the roof and snaked it with a tool tip the size of a quarter (not a pencil). Said the drain cleaner was unnecessary. Said companies like prodigy are just there to rip you off. Zero problems with the sink since the REAL plumber came. Prodigy must spend a lot of money on Y*** reviews/ads, otherwise I have no idea how they have such a great rating. If you need immediately relief and nobody else can come, call them but do NOT sign up for their big quote which they ALWAYS give. Pay the one-time visit fee to hold you over until you can get a real plumber over. Just my two cents read more

Yes! Yes! Yes! I called Prodigy on a Sunday for an emergency appointment, they were able to get there that day to take a look at the cracked water heater that was leaking all over the floor. This is a tenant occupied rental unit so Prodigy worked close with the tenant and myself to get the water heater installed. They were professional, respectful and accommodating. This was much-appreciated as my tenants had already been without hot water for over 24 hours. All their reps communicated well, from schedulers to techs to managers to accounting folks. We obviously weren't thrilled when we heard that we couldn't repair the unit for a few hundred and would have to replace it for a couple thousand. However, even at 7pm on a Friday, the manager was understanding, worked with my urgency to take care of my tenants, offered an additional discount and added years of free service, and ensured it all got handled the next day. Don't get Snaked by Prodigy! Gentleman Bandits! Super professional and pleasant on the phone and in person but..... My elderly mother in law and sister in law had Prodigy out for a simple snaking of a laundry drain. Prodigy came out and before attempting to clear the drain they offered two quotes, $250 for just snaking the drain or $593.60 to snake the drain and do a video inspection. Classic up sell, you have to wonder if they saw two women and thought why not try for a higher fee. Very unusual to consider the video before attempting to clear the drain. While I told her that $250 is considerably more than I have ever paid to have a drain cleared, Prodigy was there so my sister in law chose the $250 option. They evidently did not test the drain as it backed up the next day. Ironically I had a different plumber at my office the next day and he said that he was sure they would back their work up if I called them. He also thought it was strange to consider the video inspection prior to attempting to clear the drain. You know where this is going! I called and a very pleasant gentleman informed me that their very exorbitantly priced attempt to clear the drain had no warranty and they would only come out again if paid. In other words they do not stand behind their work. We had another plumber out, snaked the drain for $120 tested it twice and it was cleared! In conclusion if you like having your pocket picked by a gentleman call Prodigy Plumbing! read more
