The tech came out to clear a tub. I talked to the tech over the phone and told him we had done the mainline recently and most likely just need a short snake job to clear tub. He said he would use the 25 foot snake and quoted me 750.00 My tenets had made the afternoon appointment and I felt horrible that they had to wait around for a real plumber to come and do the job for 125.00. I had used prodigy 2 times before and each time the prices have gone up. This bid was an insult of my intelligence. I now know how they are paying for all the new shiny service trucks. We had to get our house water jetted and the same day we also had to get a portion of a room steam cleaned by another company and let me tell you that the difference in service was night and day. Russel and a coworker had come to the house to give us a quote and they were so polite and pleasant and very informative. The other service provider was the complete opposite and so abrasive that we turned down the service that we had booked. Russel and the prodigy team were ver =y professional and courteous and did an awesome job of jetting the cleanout and getting rid of roots that were the possible cause of our recent backup. They lied to us and told us, due to a colapsed pipe, we HAD to have a $3,200-$14,000 sewer pipe repair done. Luckily my wife did not believe the lies that their "Technician" (saleman) told us. She found a REAL plumber from a TRUSTED friend. He came, went over everything thoroughly with us and explained to us, exactly how Prodigy plumbing was lying. He fixed the problem in 25 minutes and charged a couple hundred. We gave him a nice big tip and he left with smiles and miles of great karma. I hate to do this but after my most recent plumbing situation I feel like I have no choice but to update my review. We've used Prodigy a few times and mostly been satisfied; however, there have been a couple interactions that left me feeling uneasy and questioning their integrity but after the last visit, I finally got a second opinion and thank goodness I did....read on for details... So, we called Prodigy to connect our gas fireplace. The gas was already piped but (for a previously unknown reason) was disconnected before we purchased the house about 18 months ago. Eddie came out and gave us a quote for the work but we weren't ready to have it done. When I called back to have the work done (almost a year later), Mark had no record of the previous quote. I recalled that it was around $750 but he wanted to send someone out again, no big deal. So, Edgar came out and quoted us $1200. I later found the original handwritten quote and in fact it was $730! Up almost $500 in a year! WHAT? (Pics below of each quote). Anyways, maybe they would've respected the original quote, I didn't even try. I felt icky after this and thankfully got a second opinion just to ease my mind. (For the record, the second opinion just to connect was $475!). So the price differential is annoying, but the real issue is here... When the (clearly very experienced) plumber came out for a second opinion/quote looked at my gas line he immediately said..."something isn't right, why was it originally disconnected?". As he started asking more questions, we realized there was an active gas leak and this is likely why it was disconnected originally. At the end of the day, we trusted the other plumber to do the work. He fixed the leak, connected the gas and installed our fireplace kit all for significantly cheaper than Prodigy but I also feel the quality is better and trust that he did a very thorough job. One other thing that made me feel uneasy about the original quote with Prodigy was that Eddie said that he could connect the pipe, but he wouldn't know if everything was ok in the wall, until it was connected. So it was possible that they would do the work (for $730) and the fireplace may still not work! This was never a concern for the second plumber. He had an air compressor and was able to blow air through the pipe to be sure that it was connected in the wall and test it every step of the way. At no point was I concerned that he would find any surprises. So, I write all of this not just to complain about the pricing-really my concern is that two different plumbers from Prodigy looked at our gas connection and neither questioned why it was disconnected, saw that the pipes were at an angle that was not up to code or seemed concerned at all. I am terrified to think what could have happened if we would've let Prodigy just simply connect the fireplace without identifying the leak. I have three small children and to think that we've been living with a gas leak for 18 months is terrifying. Ultimately, I am leaving 3 stars because the work that prodigy did do in our kitchen in the past seems to have resolved our issues but because of the situation above, I no longer feel that I can trust this company and therefore am taking off two stars and won't be using them in the future. read more

I have been looking for a knowledgeable licensed plumber for a new tankless water heater and gas line installation. I had previously called 4 other plumbing contractors. 3 of them failed to return calls after receiving quotes and the last firm was a complete no show. After talking with several neighbors I placed a call to Prodigy Plumbing. I spoke with Phil who was able to schedule a technician for a on-site quote the same day. Phil kept me informed throughout the day as to when their technician Ozzy would arrive. Ozzy arrived and gathered information as to what was needed for the new gas line run and tankless installation. Ozzy informed me that he would send over a written quote for the installation which was received in a timely manner. In review of the quote Prodigy Plumbing was not the least expensive quote that I had for the installation but was not the most expensive either. I called Ozzy back and schedule the installation for the following week. My initial contact with Prodigy Plumbing has been outstanding. I will follow up once the installation has been completed. I had three sinks and two showers that were either not draining well or getting backflow when the toilet was flushed so I reached out to Prodigy and was impressed with how quickly they were able to get someone out to me (same day, within a couple of hours). The technicians were efficient and professional. They managed to snake 4 of my blocked pipes, but on one particular sink they tried snaking it a couple of times but kept hitting something they couldn't get past. They informed me of that and let me know that the next step would be to do exploratory plumbing (and go through the walls) to try to find the pipes and where it was broken/clogged. I didn't want to do that at the time so I had them move on to the next sinks. They were professional and did not charge me for the blocked sink that they couldn't unclog. Prior to them coming, the sink in question would drain slow, but was usable enough for daily activities. After they tried snaking it, the sink is now completely unusable and backs up with the smallest amount of water. So although the service was very good and the crew was professional from start to finish, it's just a tad bit disappointing that I'm now more inconvenienced than when I started off. Overall, would still highly recommend them. My situation is pretty specific, and they did a great job on the other pipes that were draining slow and cleared those. read more
