I have an older Classic Jeep that I have kept up real well and done a lot of the work on myself. I have been buried in work lately and it needs some things to get smogged. I came here to check it out since I am in the area. I had my Rotor resurfaced, and Distributor cap, spark plugs and wires replaced and it cost me $350 for the labor after parts. This is a completely reasonable rate if the work is quality. The check engine came back on the day after I got it back which just means that it's something else causing the problem. The nature of solving this problem and code is trouble shooting and all of the work they have done so far needed to be done. It's back in the shop and we will see what happens. So far they appear to be knowledgeable and polite. Every time I have been there the mechanics are working diligently around the shop. I'll keep everyone updated on how it goes. read more

I've been bringing my cars to Felix for years, but after this last visit, it's finally review time. I had a weird once-a-month noise under the hood (think "screwdriver in a blender")that would mess with the engine power but never show up when I brought it to a mechanic. I tried three other recommended shops (thanks, friends), but no luck. Finally brought it back to Felix, who put it up on the rack, played car whisperer, and suspected something further back in the exhaust. Took it to a muffler shop, they snipped out the offending part, welded in a new one, and boom, my car's been purring ever since. I inherited a BMW from a friend of mine who passed away. His family was nice enough to have it checked out for any safety issues before they transferred it to me. As my friend's father is invalid they had a family helper take the car to Felix at Professional Auto Repair in February of 2019. She was told that the brakes were "falling apart" and needed to be completely replaced. She--obviously not knowing anything about the brakes--followed them on their suggestion. They removed the valuable Brembo rotors and calipers and replaced them with a cheap set. I noticed this when I picked up the car from the family in San Diego a couple of months later. The Brembo parts? Gone. The woman who had taken the car to them told me the story and so I tried to contact Felix. He never spoke to me directly. I got nothing but employees speaking to me for him. They told me that the parts were "not available", relayed that "he's pretty sure he asked her if she wanted to keep the parts..." (he should have been damn sure... she has no recollection of being asked at all) and "Hey, I understand. I'd be angry, too." (this, again, from an employee). This was bad form--even IF he actually asked her. The car parts weren't hers to make decisions on. Nor was she informed enough to make that decision. No doubt, Felix understood both of these things. The family is out about $2,300 for the cheap replacement brake job that was done and I'm out the valuable Brembo parts. I'm sure he made a pretty penny on them. To make things worse, the calipers on the brake set that he installed are cheap, unfinished and now rusted-over (see picture). I can't say much about the quality of this shop's work. The reviews have been positive and chances are the mechanics here do a fine job. I can only share my experience and what I find to be disturbingly low integrity on Felix's part. His refusal to talk to me when I called--instead having his workers shield him from having to answer my concerns, himself--just added to the impression. note: I write this review only now, a year later, per recommendation/opinion of a mechanic who commented on the unprofessional/unacceptable nature of the whole situation. read more

Ladies be aware! I came to Felix in hopes of finding a good mechanic to help fix my car and to hopefully find someone I could trust. Unfortunately he will try to scam you with a really high price and pressure you to pay for work that wasn't agreed upon. I dropped off my car like he asked. I then got a call to inform me of the diagnosis. He told me it would cost me $$$1189 to fix the "bearings" that were totally messed up and done. I told him I would call back to confirm if I wanted work done. Later I tried calling, no answer. Shortly after he calls me and tells me work is done! I was pissed because I am not prepared to pay such high price and more than anything I was super upset that he put me in a pressure predicament! I told him I wasn't going to pay and he hung up on me. Later I arrive to pick up my vehicle and he tells me that "my mistake" .. I just took care of one tire for you" and was getting prepare to charge me who knows what! I told him I didn't agree on anything yet. (While he had my vehicle and I was at work I called a few other places for quotes and they were quoting me $100per side (2 sides needed). I expressed my frustration with his quote and pressure to agree to anything ...then he said "you know what, here are your keys go!" Yeah! Not surprised! I'm pretty sure he didn't even add any new parts at all! I'm pretty sure he just added the oil that the bearings typically need. In the end he did "fix" the issue but I left very upset and let down! I give this a 2 star because at least the man that first helped me was kind at all times. read more

I am very impressed with their service. I brought my car in for a oil change and tire rotation, and it was finished within an hour. Felix and Felix Jr made me feel at home and were very transparent with their prices. I will definitely be coming here for my future auto work. I recently took my car into Felix's shop for the 1st time. While he was typing up the labor description, he asked me about inspecting the tires. I informed him I didn't need anything done to the tires &/or alignment. I have a separate service center I've used for years that takes care of all that type of maintenance. A tire rotation was still performed & I was charged $79.20. This old trick is used by mechanics solely to jack the price of the bill. Discount Tire will do a tire rotation for FREE if you buy a single tire from them! I really hate being taken advantage of & treated like I'm stupid. I cannot thank Felix enough for fixing my car. The Honda dealership told me in March I had a cracked motor mount, and that it would cost almost $700 to fix. I said F that and left because it felt like every time I went I was getting worked over. I brought my car to Felix yesterday, told him what I had been told, and expressed my frustrations. He assured me that he would take care of my car. When I got the call about an hour later it was worse than I imagined - TWO broken motor mounts and all of my fluids were burnt. I expected to hear "the car isn't drivable anymore" BUT INSTEAD he gave me a very fair price for the repairs and ensured it would be done before the end of the day. When I went to pick my car up, Felix was still there helping another customer well after closing. It's so hard to find a good mechanic. I give up. I'm done looking. Felix and his team are nothing short of amazing. I've found my go-to mechanic. They are personable, honest and knowledgeable. Yeah, sure, auto shops are everywhere but not with customer service like this. I took my car in beside the battery "died." I almost paid AAA $100 for a new battery which would've been a complete mistake. I did something stupid that drained my battery which lead to me calling AAA. I got it jumped, drove to work. I prayed that it would start after work so I could take it to a shop. I called at 5pm knowing that it would take me an hour to get there. Felix said it was fine but wanted to check out the battery before changing it - IF it needed to be changed. They did a few tests and told me it was fine! I just drained the battery sitting in my car putting on my makeup (duh me). Felix and his team saved me $100+. They stayed late for me and made sure that I was taken care of - no charge. Friendly and knowledgeable, willing to take last-minute appointments on a weekend, all for a fair price. One of our cars was intermittently making a whirring, grinding noise, so we looked through 5 pages of Yelp looking for a mechanic (1) open on a Saturday and (2) willing to take a walk-in. My roommate's a mechanic by hobby (he's overhauled engines, swapped engines, changed a clutch, etc.) so he's a little more discerning regarding mechanical expertise. Basically, we didn't wanna go somewhere with 20 Yelp reviews raving about oil changes. So, calling at 1pm on a Saturday, Professional Auto Repair asked us to come by right away, no problem. They were very friendly as they drove the car and ran a diagnostic and were very thorough throughout. They explained their findings well, and both mechanics were highly knowledgeable according to my roommate's judgment. The price was fair, too. Great business all around. read more

Super helpful honest...better than Family feel! I drove in without calling on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30pm... Afraid I was going to have to replace my brakes or rotors or cv joint (all lingo a friend had told me he thought it might be).... My car had been sitting for over a year and had just gotten everything finally fixed (at another repair shop)... But when I got home I started to hear a scraping sound when I hit the breaks...,About a month later, I found Professional Auto Repair off of yelp....and explaining to Felix what I thought it was and asking if someone could drive my car and listen in, George I think it was, hopped in and we drove around.... And in the end looked at my brake pads along with Felix, and let me know they were in good condition and it was just rust that was causing the noise... Phew! Great customer service! read more

A few months ago, my check engine light comes on and I'm not able to pass smog inspection until the light goes off. Took my car to a nearby mechanic and almost a thousand dollars later, the light just kept on turning back on after some driving. Desperate, I took my car to Felix and the guys at Professional Auto Repair where they did the proper diagnostic, made the repair and the light STAYS off and ends a long and costly ordeal. About a year ago I bought a 2000 Honda Civic from a friend. It was running fine, but would lag on starting up and the emergency brake was almost worthless.
