Their warranty on work done was another key factor. An electrician found a dead rat and droppings in the attic, so I needed clean up and rodent proofing. In the crawl space, a bunch of the ducts were unattached by wear and tear and plumbing work that had been done in the past (which I didn't know. No wonder my gas bill was so high over the winter!). Shannon and team cleaned everything up, sanitized, reattached the ducts and rodent proofed the whole house on the outside. Apparently the attic was vulnerable, as prior owners' foam had been chewed through in the eaves. After they were done they set traps which will be checked every few weeks. The guy who came out was on time, a bit eccentric and very passionate about rats. He was detail oriented and did a great job explaining the job and its breakdown. Unfortunately on the day of the job, we had 4 guys come to our home on time- but none of them spoke English. Now, I appreciate them coming out, but we just could not communicate and they did not have work trucks or shirts with their company name. An hour later, we had a younger guy show up and he spoke English. The crew worked really fast, did a nasty job of removing our rodent infested insulation and put in new insulation, they mixed concrete and patched up some holes as well and put out rat traps. They came back twice to check the traps and removed them. I think they did a good job, appreciate their punctuality. But management should always send someone who speaks some English and provide a company truck or at least shirts. I personally felt uncomfortable letting into my home a group of random men with no identification.

A few days after we met and I signed the contract, the team came out to remove old roof debris left over from a recent reroofing, removed our home's original insulation, and installed fresh batt insulation in both the attic and crawlspace. They also added rodent proofing throughout the attic while they were at it. About a month later we heard critter noises, so I texted them and they came out to inspect. He didn't find anything in the traps but reset them to be safe. Sure enough, something took the bait because we heard it go off! Jose came back shortly after and discovered 2 mice (thankfully no rats), found a gap where the roof met the garage and sealed it up. He ran an ozone generator as a precaution for any smells. A couple weeks after that we heard faint sounds again. Jose returned, found one more entry point, sealed it, and since then there's been total silence! I really wanted to rate this company highly but I just can't because they are so busy and…read moreunderstaffed, they have been unavailable to provide services for weeks at a time - on multiple occasions. And as a family that has experienced rats and mites, getting them out in a timely way is a public health concern. And Alley Cat just hasn't been able to do it. I will say that the work they did the first time was reasonably good. We had rats on three different levels of our home in crawl spaces, and they did a nice job of cleaning them out, setting traps, and shoring up most of the entry points. However, they did not find all of the entry points on one level that first time and now twice I found additional points - which were obvious enough that they should have found them the first time - and it took at least two weeks to schedule someone to come inspect the situation... and then another two weeks to send someone out to actually do the work! In the meantime, the rats continued to flourish, urinate, defecate, and spread mites on one level, above my office den. I just called again today for someone to come out and close another hole, and it will be another two weeks for someone to come out. The smell is so strong, I cannot stay in the room for more than ten minutes at a time. Next time, I am absolutely targeting seeking out company who can be more available.

One company provided a $17K quote excluding replacing the attic insulation and refused to do the project unless I paid for a concrete rat slab install. This was our first issue of this type after 20 years in the house and I did not see a need for a concrete rat slab. The other three companies were more price competitive. I thought Sean provided the best inspection presentation and discussion, explaining considerations, answering my questions and working on a plan for long-term resolution of the problem while managing to a reasonable cost. I selected Mr. Attic for the job and Sean and Rachel proved to be good communicators and project managers. We had them clean out and rodent proof our attic as well, even though there was no recent sign of rat activity there. There was significant damage to HVAC ducts under the house which Mr. Attic cleaned, repaired, and replaced as was needed, and we also had them replace the insulation in the attic. Our total project cost was one-third of the "slab required" company even with attic insulation added. The crew that did the work was professional in their actions while working throughout our house and did a great job clearing out all the old materials in the crawlspace and attic. They rodent proofed the attic, crawlspace, and even our garage to close off any points of entry. We believe their HVAC duct work and attic insulation has benefited our household climate control and reduced energy usage. We just hit the two year mark since the last rats were captured and there has not been a single reoccurrence. I was very pleased with the work done by Mr. Attic and have recommended their service many times to others experiencing rodent infestations.
