I been to both Progress Breweries here in El Monte, CA. To be honest this location is my favorite. It's spacious, they have a variety of drinks and they have a vendor next door that sells food. What more can you ask for!? On the weekends they have a live DJ and it's never empty. They don't have servers on the out on the tables so you do have to walk up to the bar to get your drinks. They do have a variety of tables and it's great for any occasion. Whether you're celebrating a birthday or hanging out with friends. We did watch some football games in the summer. It was my first time coming here and I was surprised that it wasn't too busy. Nice, spacious bar that's affiliated with Progress Brewing in South El Monte. Security guard is present to check all IDs before entering. This place has lots of TV Screens up for all your sporting events! The music jams and they have the digital jukebox where you can pay to choose your favorite songs. They have a full bar with signature cocktails, a good variety of craft beers, and plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. And did I mention they have a long Happy Hour?! Buy one get one free on beers, which come out to be $3-4/pint of craft beer, but has to be the same beer. They also have other happy hour deals on cocktails, and happy hours are on the weekends as well, so definitely check them out! I will say that the floors under the table are pretty sticky and could use a cleaning/mopping. My sandals were glued to the ground just from sitting on the long benches near the TVs! Opened two days before lockdown in March 2020, Progress on Main is the sister establishment to Progress Brewery, which is El Monte's first craft brewery. On my first visit I had the opportunity to chat with the owner Diego. He told me he opened the bar with the intent of making craft cocktails more accessible. In addition to serving beer brewed by Progress, they also carry draft beer from local breweries and have a vast selection of wines and premium spirits. Progress on Main is located in a cute little shopping area that spans a few blocks. It's big and spacious and also has an outdoor patio. There are 7 TVs on the back wall and 3 at the bar. It's a great location to watch sports or host a party. They also have arcade games in addition to Karaoke on Thursday night and Football on Sunday. They don't serve food but there are food trucks on Thursday, Friday, & Saturdays. Happy Hour is Wednesday - Saturday 4 pm - 8 pm and Sunday 10 am - 4 pm $6 seasonal cocktails and draft beers are buy one get one free. On my first visit I had one of their seasonal specialty cocktails - The Fire Burst (Mezcal, Tequila, spicy tincture, cranberry juice & Hibiscus syrup). It was very tasty with just the right amount of smokiness and heat. I also had the Sparkle-Rita (Tequila, Orange Cognac, Lime juice, Canella Syrup, topped with sparkling Moscato.) Diego said it was one of his favorites and OMG! this cocktail was amazing. (FYI - all tinctures, cordials, and syrups are made in house.) I enjoyed my first visit so when I received a discount code for my birthday ($5 off) it was the perfect excuse to go back. I went on a Sunday and a number of people were there to watch the Dodgers game. Jarod, the bartender, was very friendly and did an excellent job of keeping up with the flow. One group had ordered the Mimosa Flight (Orange, Cranberry, Mango, Guava) The flight utilizes a full bottle of champagne and for $20 it's a great deal. The Mexican Candy Shot Flights were also very popular (Passionfruit, Strawberry, Mango, Raspberry). Jarod made several during my visit. I started with a Strawberry Margarita (Tequila, Lime Juice, Strawberry Cordial, Orange Cognac.) It was yummy. Since they use a Strawberry Cordial the drink was not overly sweet. In fact, it was smooth and balanced. I enjoyed the first cocktail, so I decided to try the Guava Mezcal: Mezcal, Pink Guava Cordial, Elderflower Liquor, Lime Juice, Orange Cognac. I'm not a big Mezcal drinker, but I remembered how good the Fire Burst was so I decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint and was quite tasty. Progress on Main has a lot of potential. Their craft cocktails are inventive and the ones that I've tried were fantastic! I look forward to coming back so I can drink my way through the menu. Tip: Closed Monday & Tuesday. Although main does serve Progress brewed beer, other craft beers and cocktails are available that makes this into a full fledged bar! Located around downtown El Monte, this is a great place to get affordable drinks with your friends or a date when you don't want to drive to Los Angeles. The place is very simple. You have a huge hall area with a full bar on one side. This allows you to get drinks and have a great loud atmosphere when people come packing in at night. Towards the back, there is some but limited outdoor seating which a taco stand usually available to serve food. The place is dog friendly and our party have brought 3 dogs at once siting inside without an issue. Drinks are very affordable and downright dangerous during happy hour! I highly recommend if you are hanging out with friends, but I don't know if this is a good place to meet other people as it feels like everyone has their own group. While the 626 has no shortage of delicious eats, one area I've always felt we needed more of were cool cocktail bars. Well, it looks like Progress on Main came through clutch! This is a chill, spacious neighborhood bar that features a simple cocktail menu, both seasonal and classic, as well as a nice selection of beers. Plus, the drinks are all reasonably priced. At buy one, get one free for all drinks, their happy hour is seriously a steal! We've been here twice already and tried a few of their menu selections such as their Strawberry Margarita, Peach Elderflower Soju Martini and the Mango Mezcal. Out of those three, I enjoyed the Mango Mezcal the most. However, this cocktail is actually supposed to be guava but both times I've been here, they didn't have the ingredients to make it guava so they were offering mango instead. It was still quite tasty and the sweet, tart mango flavor along with the Tajin rim complemented the smokey mezcal nicely. There's plenty of seating and while we've only been here around happy hour time, I can see how it can get lit later on as the night progresses. I enjoy their affilated Brewery, Progress Brewing in South El monte, and it was nice to see that they also carry Progress Brewing beers here as well. But this place also has a full bar, as well as other craft beers for you to try, which I appreciate. The only thing they don't have is food, but there is sometimes a pizza truck set up outside that you can order from. Besides a large indoor area, they also have a patio out back that can host events. It's also cool that they have and electronic jukebox where you can choose to play the music in the whole bar for a small fee. Not to mention they also have a couple of arcade games, like House of the Dead 2 and darts. This was my first time at Progress On Main. We decided to meet here to do our fantasy football draft. My brother is a regular here and he's been telling me for the longest to stop by. I usually go to the other location in South El Monte. But I think that from now on I will definitely be coming to this location. I really enjoyed the environment and how spacious this location is. The first thing I noticed was the DJ stage they had at the corner which I'm assuming they have a DJ or performers Friday and Saturday. They also have a great selection of tequilas in case you're craving a mixed drink but don't forget that they have a great selection of craft beers and IPAs. Another thing I really enjoy and was actually impressed was with their food. We trade their wings and they were really really good. We went with their mango habanero and Nashville rub. Inside, a giant, open-area concept resembling a brewery seating of mixed with tables, and communal style bench seating. Oh, and there's two bars; one for cocktails/spirits, one for beer. Go bananas. Their bartenders are pretty knowledgeable and they can mix their drinks well, so giant plus. The only down side? When it gets crowded around the Friday/Saturday night 9pm time, then it becomes incredibly hard to hear anyone ... unless you're the one who's loud. We were not to pleased with the first bar tender who helped us at the beginning he had no customer service didn't even bothered on checking in with us for refills only took our appetizer order and first drink had to be flagging him down and we were sitting at the bar like literally in front of him. We went here for the first time this past Sunday. This is a really nice bar right around an Old Towne-looking part of El Monte that also has some restaurants in the immediate area if you're feeling some grub after a few drinks. The inside of the bar is very nice and clean with quite a few TVs as well as some arcade games. The two bartenders working that night were excellent. My girlfriend is an Elite member so they gave her a red Yelp signature cocktail drink, which she said was great and had a nice smoky aftertaste. I got an 805, one of my personal favorite beers, and a Paloma which was one of the best I've had. They seem to do a last call order for cocktails about an hour before closing so make sure to get an order in if it's about that time. This is definitely a place we'd like to return to.
