I asked for a 1 time clean to try them out and the invoice for a 2000 square foot place was over $350 including a 3% processing fee. Initially I thought, ok I'm sure for that they did a magnificent job, but not really. There was still a larger spot if soap scum on the master bath glass shower doors that was totally visible, dust on top of every picture frame, and I had to vacuum a room that they must have just missed. Overall, this is a good cleaning service. They respond pretty promptly and they come when they say they are going to come. Most of the time, the cleaning is excellent too but it depends on the team they send to your home. I have had a crew that spent 2 1/2 hours and did a very thorough job and a crew that spent 1 hour and 15 minutes on the same space. Obviously, you are not doing as good a job in half the time. But, to their credit, I mentioned it to the owners and they have not sent that same crew again to my house. They are not the cheapest, but you will usually get what you pay for. read more

I needed to have my condo deep cleaned prior to placing it on the market, and after reading prior reviews about Progressive Cleaning, I decided to give them a shot and am SO glad I did! I have an infant and 3 cats, so needless to say, my place is never clean! I was so thoroughly impressed with the ladies who came to clean and the job they did! They were on time and started working immediately after getting there. The attention to detail was astounding. From removing dust off the hairspray bottle in the bathroom, to the little fan folds they put in my tissue boxes, there was no inch of my condo that was not taken care of. The cleaning results itself were excellent so four/five stars for that. In the future, I would hire this company to do something straightforward such as cleaning the entire house. However, I engaged them to deep clean one bathroom only in the house. I was told it would be a minimum of 1.5 hours for a three person crew and would total to approximately $150. We are not physically at the home so agreed to this arrangement. According to our renter, a five person crew showed up at approximately 1:30 PM (30 minutes after the 11:00 - 1:00 PM window provided). The crew then proceeded to clean most of the house, despite the fact they had been hired to do just the bathroom. We were initially charged $262 for 2.5 hours of work, despite requesting the crew stick to the 1.5 hour minimum. To her credit, Evelyn stuck to our contract, despite the additional unauthorized work that had already been completed. Again, I appreciate her making things right and give the company four stars on this portion of the interaction. Distressing to me however was the fact that our renter saw five people walk into the house. When I brought this up to the company's owner, she said plainly that our renter was lying. I think it's weird that the owner was so quick to dismiss this concern. If I were in her shoes, I would want to know if non-employees were accompanying her workers to homes to work or otherwise and investigate further since it is a potential liability for her company and its reputation. read more

I found Progressive Cleaning through Yelp in 2014 and hired them to clean our Maryland home. The service was fantastic! Now that I've moved to a different county, I've struggled to find a cleaning company that compares. Evelyn was professional and extremely responsive to our needs. There were three ladies that came to our home each cleaning, but rarely the same crew. In every instance, I was extremely satisfied with their attention to detail. I would be lying if I said I wasn't more than a little OCD about cleaning. I regularly go at our stove with Q-tips and tooth picks. When it comes to our bathroom bleach is my friend. Monthly I dust and clean all the light bulbs in our house. In September I began grad school while still working full time and the house slowly began to fall apart. My husband, god bless him for trying, was unable to keep up with the basic household cleaning. *Side note - Bathrooms need to be cleaned once a week, not once every three weeks. Thus, we begrudgingly started to discuss the possibility of a maid service. The more we looked in to area maid services the murkier the prospect became. Then we found Progressive Cleaning. They had great reviews online and less than 5 minutes after we called they had sent references, proof of insurance, their packages and rates. We asked when they could come an they said in two days. I arrived home from work on Friday to find a house clean from top to bottom. They cleaned everything! The baseboards, the laundry room, and the space between the sink and the wall that I can never keep clean! They made the bed, vacuumed our couch and windexed our photo frames. I was home for a week and a half during the snowpocalypse and I couldn't get our house this clean! Do not hire. Don't send the same people every time and show up late to clean. They are here again today to clean. They clean well and offered to clean for free only today since they were so late on May 1, 2015. Upon closer inspection, floors not cleaned under rugs on May 7, 2015, Thursday. Housekeepers arrived late May 1, 2015. Supposed to come between 11:00-12:00. Still not at house by 1:00. Fired them. They should not have a one hour window of arrival. Very inconvenient. First off, let me say that the cleaners did an excellent job on my move-out cleaning--so excellent that my landlord, a realtor, wanted their name to use them in the future. Their attention to detail was incredible, and they were very professional and positive. My challenge, however, came with the communication of the owner. I booked my appointment weeks in advance for a particular time slot (3 pm-4 pm) because that was the earliest I could get to the unit on a weekday, since they do not work on weekends. I asked her to send me a confirmation upon booking, and they did. However, the day before the cleaning, they send me a service reminder, but the time frame is now 2 pm-3 pm--clearly not what we agreed upon and one that I'm not able to make. I sent an email explaining that I would not be available during that time. No response. I call the work phone listed and leave a message. No response. I call the cell phone listed, and I'm hung up on. Around 10 pm that night, I receive another confirmation with the original time slot of 3 pm-4 pm. So I assume everything is okay. The following day, I get to the unit at 2:50 pm. The cleaners are sitting in the hall. They had already been there 20 minutes. Once again, they did a great job, but I'm not sure it was worth the struggle I had to go through to get it. read more

Not only where they on time 7:00 AM, with their own cleaning solutions, towels, mops etc. but they were well organized and ready to work. In 4 hours they had completely cleaned two bathrooms, kitchen, utility room and all the windows and floors in a 1244 square foot condo. I called Progressive on Tuesday and they came out this morning at 7am PROMPT (as scheduled) to do an initial cleaning. I was AMAZED at what they did to clean my house. Not to mention a little embarrassed at house apparently disgustingly dirty/dusty it must have been. The 2 wonderful ladies removed pictures from the walls to wash and dust them, they cleaned the blinds, they took the items out from under the beds, dusted, cleaned them. My house has NEVER been so clean. Kudos to them. I'm signing up for bi-weekly cleaning immediately. I would totally recommend them. One item to note, the estimate for the initial cleaning was for 2-2.5 hours. It ended up being 4.5 hours, but WELL WORTH IT! UPDATE: It's now 2.5 years later. We still use Progressive to do bi-weekly cleaning. For the most part, the do an excellent job. Sometimes you can tell we get a different team and some details slip a bit, but we've truly never been disappointed. We have a 3 year old now and, lord knows, we have some toy clutter, but they do a great job. I still recommend them highly. read more

After reading the positive reviews on Yelp, I set about calling Progressive Cleaning and setting up an appointment. The response was immediate and despite the busy season (the week before Christmas), they were able to come in before my guests arrived and within 3 hours did a deep clean on my townhouse that saved my life! I was so incredibly busy that this honestly took an amazing amount of stress off of my shoulders. Their job was efficient and the staff was friendly. They did ask me for paper towels and trash bags when they arrived, which I had but was not prepared for. Every cleaning company works differently, so I should have asked about this ahead of time. I was so pleased with the service that I requested they come back every two weeks for regular housecleaning. I was worried the 2nd job wouldn't be as good. I didn't need to worry. I'm a meticulous cleaner and others consider me to be a bit OCD. Because of such, I always considered a cleaning service to be a waste of money and was sure I would be completely disappointed. After hosting multiple guests throughout the holidays and finally removing cmas trees and decor, I just didn't have it in me to deep clean my entire home the way it needed to be. Not to mention the snow,mud,salt, and overall gunk that got tracked through my home after the blizzard. I found Progressive Cleaning on Yelp and read a bunch of reviews. Even then, I still deliberated for days until I remembered one of my girlfriends would be visiting for the weekend and arriving in less than 24hrs. At the last minute I called and left a voicemail. The owner returned my call in less than 20 minutes. I was almost embarrassed to tell her I was looking for residential cleaning for uuh..TOMORROW.. but hey the worst they could say was no. To my surprise, she was super accommodating and scheduled my appointment right then and there. The owner also gave me details on pricing and addressed my concerns since I had never used a cleaning service and had no idea what to expect. Also, if you would like them to clean something outside of the standard residential cleaning (i.e. inside of the stove) just ask the owner for a quote on the extra service. Fast forward to cleaning day - OMG - AMAAZZIIINNGG!!!!! I have never seen my house sparkle and shine the way it did after Progressive Cleaning. Honestly, for someone like me who believes no one can clean their home better than me, these ladies were absolutely outstanding. I conducted a thorough inspection of blinds, floors, face of cabinets, baseboards, under furniture, corner of ceilings, sides of the toilet, hardware, door knobs, AND ALL WERE THOROUGHLY CLEANED. They also wiped down all of my screen doors and overall just didn't miss a beat...I mean just glorious. I believe that cleanliness is next to godliness.....and to find a cleaning service that knows how to "clean" not "tidy up" but actually clean is just heaven to me! They quoted me at 3 hours but it ended up taking 4 because of the extent of cleaning that needed to be done but they were upfront about it so I was fine. There was a mix up that caused the employees who cleaned to ask my dad for payment when I'd already arranged that I would be the one paying but it was cleared up after I called the manager. I found this company by performing Yelp searches for cleaning services with good reviews as most of us would. I had previously made the mistake of purchasing a Groupon for a local cleaning service (who has 3.5 stars on yelp) to assist me with the cleaning of my empty town home upon moving out. I say this was a mistake because I made numerous calls, emails, yelp messages, and direct requests for callback on their website... and never heard back from them until it was too late. With that being said I was in a bind and needed to find a house cleaning service to clean my unit within a 48 turnaround. I contacted this organization and 9 others thanks to Yelps these companies also do this feature. I received responses from all with most being unable to accommodate my need, I narrowed it down to 2 different companies and decided to move forward with Progressive, even though they were slightly more expensive, for several specific reasons. 1) Progressive was prompt, professional, courteous, and very flexible in scheduling based on my expedited time window. 2) Evelyn, the owner, was able to help get me scheduled for a cleaning well after their advertised business hours. I appreciate her flexibility in helping me at the expense of her personal life. 3) They already had a 4.5-star review rating on Yelp. 4) Progressive provided me with an itemized list of exactly what services were to be covered for the price. I like that I did not have to visit their website, guesstimate, wait to schedule a phone call, or meet them for a walk through of the place prior to getting an estimate. 5) They provided an estimate quickly based off of what I needed done, this estimate also included specific instructions and things to expect. When I say quickly, I mean within 10 minutes of our first communication. 6) They provided confirmation, follow up, and reminders of the appointment. Regarding the cleaning, I was given an appointment of between 1-2 PM EST and the cleaners arrived within that time frame and went straight to work. They were able to complete my cleaning within a 2-hour time window versus the 3 hours that was quoted, and the final invoice reflected that change. My home had nothing left in it and is primarily hard wood floors. We also have stainless steel appliances. The place was tidy, but was definitely not squeaky clean. They were able to clean all floors, walls, mirrors, windows. They cleaned the kitchen which included inside and outside of fridge, oven, cabinets and drawers, and microwave. They also cleaned two bathrooms fully. Couple things I particularly liked, I cut my own hair and one of the drawers in the bathroom is where I store my clippers. There was a ton of leftover hair in there, that was completely cleaned. They cleaned all of the light switches and outlets, they looked brand new. They also cleaned the blinds. They even made a little design out of an extra roll of toilet paper I had in the bathroom just in case during the move. At one point I saw one of the cleaners cleaning a light bulb inside of one of it's housings in the kitchen. There were a few things that might have been missed. There were maybe a few specs of dust on the floor in one area, I literally just wiped it up with my hand and it was gone. There were a couple smudges on the vanity above the toilet, hit that with a wipe and it was gone.Literally 2 minutes worth of 'work'. Other than that I have to say it was flawless. The owner of the unit came back shortly after they left for the walk through and he seemed impressed. He told me I'd be getting my full security deposit back which is always the drive behind these kinds of things. I was looking for someone to clean our 4 story town home because I recently had a baby and found jugging caring for a newborn and trying to keep the house clean a little tough. Our home is never really dirty, as we pick up often, but we really needed someone to come in and give it a thorough clean. (plus we had many visitors after the birth of our son, so we wanted our house to at least be presentable!) After sifting through reviews here on yelp, and online I came across Progressive Cleaning. I had some reservations about hiring a cleaning service. Mostly, though I needed some help with keeping the house clean, in the past when I have hired cleaning services, I found it to be more annoying than helpful as many of them needed me to provide them with supplies, and show them where things were, and constantly asked questions throughout the process. If I wanted to do all of that, I would just do it myself! I was pleasantly surprised when I decided to give Progressive a try. Evelyn was very easy to work with through email and phone which I found very convenient! We set up a cleaning, and she quoted me at about 2 hours. The team arrived (4 women) which was great! They were very efficient and finished the whole house in 2 hours. The house was sparkling!! They cleaned everything from the dishes in the kitchen, to the floors, changed the sheets, and even vacuumed our furniture which was much needed! I was so impressed with their work- and I never had to tell them how to do anything, or where anything was...they brought their own cleaning supplies, and figured everything out leaving the house so clean!! Progressive Cleaning was the only one of the companies who answered my phone call, and even worked with me to get a price I could reasonably manage. They scheduled me right away. Even though I arrived 10 min to my empty apartment, 3 patient ladies were at my doorstep ready to clean. They went right to work and didn't goof off. They were out in one hour! After the mopped floor dried off, I went through and checked and it looked brand new. They made it really easy to book and it was done in a matter of minutes. If I wasn't moving, I'd use them again - definitely would refer to anyone looking to keep a clean house! read more

I contacted Progressive Cleaning in August 2012 for a long overdue cleaning of my one bedroom apartment. The estimate for initial cleaning of the whole unit was approximately $115 including the 15% first-time discount per email proposal from Evelyn - rounding up the general estimate of a 3-person crew for 1 2/5 hours @ $96/hour. Their website states that they provide their own standard cleaning supplies. This proposal included the "standard" cleaning. NOTE: There is a tall stepladder in my kitchen. My 1BR unit is very small - 630 sq ft. They did a nice job with the initial cleaning - they missed a few spots and cobwebs, but I let it go figuring that I'd have them come back and continue their good work according to the "standard cleaning" stated on their website, and eventually I'd have a perpetually clean home. I was very pleased with how they cleaned the 6 windows and the 2 ceiling fans and the baseboards, which all desperately needed cleaning; removed books from bookcases to dust, and everything else which is stated on their website for the initial and included standard cleaning. Overall, they did a very nice job and +/- put things back where they'd been. After 2.5 hours they packed up and the last lady remaining told me I owed them $240. I questioned this, mentioning Evelyn's estimate as well as the 15% discount, but I didn't argue as three cats live here, I did have a lot of dust, they spent twice the time estimated and they did do a real nice job. I agreed to let them return on a monthly basis for $110/month. They came to my home a total of 4 times, including the initial cleaning and the free cleaning (see below). I have little furniture; NO rugs, NO carpeting, and NO upholstered furniture to vacuum; just a wood floor. I intentionally keep a minimalist household with little clutter and hardly anything I can't lift by myself; what I can't lift I can push. Most furniture is on tall legs and / or quite movable; I don't expect anyone to move a bookcase. I didn't even have them make the bed. The only piece of "upholstered furniture" is a kitty condo which I asked them 4 times to vacuum - they never did. I requested they clean the bathroom ceiling 4 times and I finally got an excuse from Evelyn that the ceiling was too high. All it takes is a mop with a handle, don't even need the stepladder. I'm short - I can do this with a swiffer, which was in the kitchen. The second time they returned I was not at home; they did such a poor overall job I was upset and annoyed. Dust was smeared, they didn't clean the appliances according to their standard cleaning - they did not pick up the check stuck right on front of the fridge! I demanded Evelyn send someone to pick up the check, return my keys, and dismissed her services. Evelyn requested another chance with free follow-up cleaning, I agreed. I should have stuck with my original dismissal but hoped for improval, given all the good reviews I'd read and the good initial cleaning. All next visits Evelyn's crews didn't move any furniture to clean floors and barely cleaned under any furniture at all. They didn't really dust - they shoved things around quite roughly and wiped and smeared around items. Every time beyond the initial cleaning they shoved numerous items onto the floor and were generally very sloppy. They showed no respect for my property or my belongings and literally bashed through my home in as little time as possible. I realize that time is valuable but the quality of their cleaning is in my opinion not worth $110/month - as well as damages they caused every single time they were in my unit, including: - numerous large and deep chips and dents in the paint on the walls, doors, doorjams - damaged a computer trackball - I found the pieces tossed into the basket of cat toys - destroyed a rolling office chair by having one person stand on it while another held it - I'd seen them do that on their first visit - stepladder is for that - chair literally collapsed when I sat on it after third visit - dents in my refrigerator - damaged two sets of blinds - entirely pushed out the back of a bookcase - I kept finding items on the floor behind /under furniture - this is not a comprehensive list They state to provide their own cleaning supplies, but always used mine. They state to take out the trash properly. I dismissed Evelyn and Progressive Cleaning about a month ago. My last straw was when I found that the crew left my trash on the sidewalk instead of taking it to the trash room as directed. They do a very nice initial cleaning - under supervision. I can't be at home all the time to supervise - which is why I hired a cleaning service in the first place. I mistakenly thought there would be improvements after email exchanges with Evelyn and a few chances. I wish I had never asked them to come back - I feel totally ripped off. The initial cleaning is good under supervision, but I can't recommend this company. read more

8/10/18: Update. Had to reduce from 5 stars to 2. While the level of excellence on the cleaning itself remained high quality throughout the time I used the service, my relationship with Management got more difficult. I dont like to complain or make a fuss, but because this service comes at a premium price, I did decide to speak up a few times, i.e. when I noticed my Silverware was getting lost (I dont feel anyone took anything, I think it got misplaced or thrown out or who knows, but I was down to one fork at one point); once a peculiar black oil stain was left on my beige carpet after I left them the keys and came home from work. This was clearly an accident and all I asked for was reimbursement for the professional stain removal. I suspect this grease leaked out of my desk rolling chair if they turned it upside down or something to clean it. I was met with denial and difficulty from Evelyn. Throughout my time with this service Evelyn constantly tried to raise my rate. Sometimes would just send me a higher bill if she felt the crew took longer than usual...meanwhile this type of reasoning made no sense to me. First the time is scheduled. Secondly, the state of my apartment is normal wear (no kids and I cleaned in between visits). I would preclean before they even arrived to be sure they didnt waste the time slot on things I could do myself. I would strip my own bed, pick up clutter or any big messes, etc. Lastly, a pattern had formed where the arrival window became more of a suggestion than a real appointment. I would say 50% of the time the window would stick, but on the times when they were running late I got no proactive updates. When I would email, I would get a response, but the last time it happened I did register a complaint in the hopes of improving communication because on the cleaning appointment days I would plan my entire day around when the crew was coming to ensure I was out of he house to give them room to work whenever possible. This time they arrived at 5 and I was expecting 10-1. This threw off my entire evening of plans that I had scheduled and it is tricky to be home while they work because you end up being in the way. All I asked was next time please let me know or give me oppty to reschedule. This time they decided to fire me as a client. I was pretty blown away. Yes, I communicated when things didnt go well, but it was in the spirit of helping them improve and ensuring the experience was working well for me... I am in customer service for a living. I know what a PITA client looks like. So I am hyper aware of how I communicate and not being rude. I believe Evelyn does think I am a pain for the few things I cited over our time together. She definitely treats the experience as to what works best for her, not the client. It was very disappointing because I hired them to help me keep my house together before and after I had back surgery. I had formed a nice relationship with the crew. Further I tipped them very generously. Every conversation Evelyn and I got into about her raising my rate, she encouraged me not to tip so big, that I didnt have to, but instead wanted to bump my rate up the $35 instead. It felt very short cited and like a nickle dime tactic not to mention like a mistreatment to the crew who worked incredibly hard. Progressive totally left me high and dry in more ways than one. Buyer beware, while there are incredible reviews here, Evelyn solicits them in return for discounts to the client. So you may not be seeing as much real information since this skews the results here. Evelyn was professional in the beginning but if you complain she will turn on you. Too bad. I liked the actual cleaning even though I was going broke paying for it. I have plenty of friends who use cleaning services and they all said I was paying more than them while I have a 3 BR apartment and my friends have SFH's, but I went with it because the result itself was high quality and I was willing to pay more for good work. 3/19/17: I am blown away at how good the service was! I have had horrible experiences with cleaning services time after time over the years. It seems there is always a verbal contract upfront while booking, then the crew never upholds when they show up for the job, but not with Progressive. Evelyn is an excellent listener. Then she emails you a detailed statement of work to review prior to your booking with an estimate to ensure both of you are on the same page. I ordered the highest level of service (move in/move out) because I wanted a detailed cleaning and I was not disappointed! My home feels like new. Sanitized from back to front. First, I do not at all typically leave reviews. However, this company has been cleaning my apartment for quite some time. This team is absolutely exceptional!!!! They're attention to detail is absolutely like no other cleaning company I've ever hired! The perfectly positioned vacuum lines in the carpet and COUCH is just the tip of the amazing they bring! I'm a firm believer that my time is worth money, and while I'm fairly neat I can never really obtain that "deep level" clean that makes you feel great about your apartment. So over the years in the DC area I've tried a number of cleaners, including the more well known national franchises (Molly Maids, etc) down to the shadier CL individuals. Progressive is by far the best I've experienced. Their staff is very polite and professional, and focuses on the job at hand. Pros: -moderately priced -did an excellent job (several times) -professional staff, focuses on the job and doesn't waste time -on-time Cons: -staff doesn't speak much English -have to pay with a check I'll gladly use Progressive again -- highly recommended! And I suggest you tip your cleaners, even just $10-20 extra will make a difference. read more

First of all, I'd like to thank Evelyn for her amazing prompt response. I've yet to deal with a service that is this responsive. The three ladies arrived early, and I had not been able to be there to let them in but they waited for me outside for 45 minutes and when I arrived they were still so graceful and sweet.
