The food is solid but two major complaints, especially as it relates to families eating here: 1. Two kids meal options; noodles and marinara and pizza. 2. The above are $14 each for KIDS! The complaint isn't the limited kids meal options, but 1) the noodles are about 4oz or less. So little that the server asked if we would like some more. We said "yes thanks that would be nice. We appreciate it." The bill comes and we were charged for 2 orders = $28 for less than an adult size pasta dish (which range from $20-$23). After bringing up that the offer for a little more pasta was appreciated but that we weren't expecting to pay another $14, they ONLY charged us $10 more. The crazy thing though is $14 for a kids meal in general. We're from Chicago and I don't know one place in Chicago that charged this much for a kids dish. Usually kids meals are $6-8 at most and include a milk or soda and sometimes fruit or a side. Good option for couples/adults. We came in on a whim on a busy Friday night. As we were waiting for a table the owner stopped by and shared with us how he was making black walnut infused vodka. He gave us a sample of some that he did with English Walnuts- it was sooo good. Very welcoming and kind. We got seated right away. The pizza was amazing. Very disappointing. Didn't even get to go into this restaurant. For background, we decided to take our kids to Blue Harbor for fun. This restaurant literally is located across the street from a water park that promotes families to Sheboygan. I was with my extended family which accounts for about 6 adults and 5 kids. We walk up to this restaurant and are greeted to a sign that basically says families with children are not welcomed. My wife walks in to secure a table for our family and is shut down. Very rude staff and ownership. We have traveled all over the world with our children and have never been treated as bad as this place. What a joke. Please boycott this place. read more

We have been long time customers and always have been very satisfied. Tonight was a whole different experience. Our food was as delicious as always. The service and the atmosphere in the restaurant was another thing. We waited 15 minutes before a server came to our table, this was even asking for a waitress after waiting about 10minutes. We were not the only table that were experiencing frustrations with the waitresses. The servers with food were also walking around with no idea where they were to be going. This went on the entire time we were dining. This was not the Prohibitions Bistro experience that I would recommend to anyone. read more

Nope, you just can't go wrong with Harry's. We've been twice in the past two weeks, and both times were spot-on awesome. First, we took my friend Peter from NYC on Friday over Memorial Day weekend. We started with the 'Pomodoro' - Cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, mozzarella cheese, olive oil and garlic, drizzled with balsamic glaze served on bread like bruschetta. This is fantastic. Something about their cherry tomatoes just gets me! Next up, we ordered the corn pizza (with extra everything, as I always do) and then debated over which second pizza we'd get. Finally we decided to give the hot sopressata another try. I am so glad we did!! It played well against the creaminess of the corn and creme fraiche on the other pizza! The spice level on the hot sopressata was perfect also! Harry came by and had a convo with our NYC-based buddy, and gave us interesting digestif drinks made out of walnuts called nocciono. This past Sunday, I was shocked to see they were opened. Apparently they open for Sundays over the summer! What a wonderful surprise! My husband and I mosied over and sat outside for a small bit before the rain storm hit. Harry's brother was the manager this day, and immediately brought out the fantastic Burrata appetizer for us. He said, "If Harry were here, he'd do this, so I thought I should keep it going." Awesome! Also awesome? That burrata appetizer. I'd never ordered it before, but will definitely be doing so in the future. It is mozzarella stuffed with mozzarella curds and cream, which alone is like eating a cloud and ascending to heaven. It's served with an excellent salad (with those beloved cherry tomatoes) and the most scrumptious bread ever! Definitely from their pizza-dough recipe, this bread is addictive. We ordered the Frutti di Mare - a special with mussels, fried soft shell crab, under which were shrimp, and cheese-stuffed gnocci. This was good, but I wouldn't get it again. I think I might have just been musseled-out though as I've been eating them a ton lately. So of course we got the hot sopressata again, and downed most of it like piglets! The last piece I had to work hard to finish, but no way I was going to let it go to waste! Harry's is just fantastic, from customer service (Thanks Al and Vanessa!) to the food, to the decor. If you are looking for a family friendly, reasonably priced Italian dining experience, I highly recommend that you give HPBP a try. We visited on a Sunday night just as they opened, and I'm glad we got there early, because the place was packed by the time we left. We got a friendly greeting and were seated immediately. The wait staff are all decked out in suspenders and red fedoras, to resemble gangsters of the Prohibition era...pretty cool. Our server Jessica was friendly and knowledgable on the menu items. They have decent beer selection, so I started with a 3 Sheeps Rebel Kent, a malty (not too) sweet delight. My entree was linguine with marinara and Italian sausage. The marinara was as rich and flavorful as the best I've ever eaten and the sausage was savory and not overly spicy. Our pizza choices were Margherita, and the other, sausage. The toppings were just right, the sauce with a light tomato flavor and the thin crust was tasty. Another point I would like to make is that during our week in Sheboygan, we visited a number of restaurants, and Harry's was the ONLY restaurant at which (I'm assuming he was) the owner walked from table to table asking if patrons were enjoying their meal, and then thanked us on the way out...so kudos to them! Next time we are vacationing in Sheboygan, Harry's will be our first choice for Italian dining. read more

The Prohibition Bistro offers an amazing menu, but a strange mix of restaurant themes. On the way hand, there are a number of terrific pasta dishes -- and the pizza is top notch. (It's one of only four VPN "True Naples Pizza" certified restaurants in the state!) But I just don't get the "prohibition" theme. The waitstaff (most are pretty young) were black shirts and bright red fedoras. The interior of the restaurant has a classic, 30s-era feeling. But the theme really cheapens the experience. It makes it feel like a cheesy theme restaurant instead of a top-notch Italian-style trattoria. That said, the pastas have a wonderful chew, and the sauces are perfectly seasoned. Flavorful without being overly garlicked or spicy. Salads and breads are excellent. And the wood-fired pizza is made to the same Naples standards as the excellent Il Ritrovo across the river. The restaurant also offers an intentionally limited bar. Don't look for a lot of hipster drinks. Cocktails are of the classic variety -- martinis and mixers from the Mad Men era. Kind of refreshing in this age of over-priced designer drinks. So it's a terrific restaurant. I just don't get the decision to cute it up with the red fedoras. read more

Visiting from out of town. Heard this place had decent wood fire pizza. Arrived for early dinner. Host suggested the patio; Pleasantly surprised how warm it was with the heaters even with the wind billowing the shades. Watched some of the sky clear for a sunset over the harbor, channel side. Overall, a decent experience but don't need to go back. Wish I could give it 3.5/5. General thoughts: - Goat cheese ball salad - overdressed (!!!) super wet and saturated spinach and greens, and a laughably small cheese ball crusted with nuts for $8 - Ordered the margarita pizza. Four slices of a 12 inch pie. Excellent crust (edge). But topping covered crust was too wet. The flavor was nice, but skimpy on basil IMO. Would have preferred more. I love a table-side shredding of Parmesan cheese - and they offer that. - Nicely priced beers. - Server never refilled my water, or even offered it. Service friendly and helpful otherwise. - Why they make the waitstaff wear those red fedora-like hats is beyond me. That made the place feel gimmicky in a way. I guess the Mobster-Bennigan's vibe works for the owners. - Seems seating-friendly for larger parties and families with kids. read more

Oh my goodness, the food here is heavenly that we went two nights in a row. The pizzas and the pastas were out of this world. We have been to stefanos and il ritrovo in the past and I have to see, prohibition bistro was even better. It's too bad that they are not open for lunch time, but service is very fast and the patio is just lovely in the summer. We were driving north a few hours and past dinner time-realizing only fast food chains were open when I saw Prohibition Bistro on Google Maps. We got off the freeway-not knowing what to expect when we pulled into the scenic lakefront area of Sheboygan.. only after walking into this unique restaurant with children in tow-we realized this was going to be a great experience. The food cemented that feeling as the pizza and all bread-based handmade food was excellent. Highly recommended-even though the price was steep--but not out of line.. if your stopping for drinks-the me I for adulting looked excellent.. we would gladly come back again. My husband and I came to the area for golf from Houston, and we chose this restaurant based on the pictures. The pomodoro was my favorite part of the meal, and the arugula on the prosciutto pizza enhanced the flavor. The alcohol menu was quite exhaustive but of no use to me being six-months pregnant. Disregard any review that involves the servers and their masks. If they're so upset about it just leave. You shouldn't even be going out to eat if you are worried about it. I went there about a week ago with my significant other and It was the greatest experience of my life. As soon as we walked in we immediately felt so welcome. Everyone there acknowledged our presence which is very important with customer service. Our server was awesome, answered every question with a smile! Our food was phenomenal and I cannot wait to go back again. The owner walked around to each table and asked how they are liking their food which is great. This place is the bee's knees, far from being a hash house you can get quality hooch if you choose to come down and see their blind pig.:) 1920s lingo aside, I have been to this place numerous times and have never left disappointed. Their brick oven fire grilled pizzas are wonderful. I chose the prosciutto pizza and it was large enough to share with a wonderful blend of salted prosciutto and cheese. Perfect flavors to go with any wine or beer of your choice. If the food doesn't convince you to go visit this place, the ambiance might. It is tailored to have a 1920s Italian feel with a prohibition theme mixed in. The staff are happy to serve you and they are dressed to fit the part. The owner is also in the mix and visits the tables to make sure you are happy with your service. I rate this restaurant at a 5 because it's appeal and food have been exceptional the 6 times (over a period of three years) I've stopped in. I highly recommend this place. My little disclaimer for those of you who rated this restaurant so poorly because you had a family with kids and were turned away. The sign outside in big white letters on the building reads "Wine Bar" and "Prohibition". So the question you have to ask yourself is, does it speak poorly on the owner for not wanting kids in an blatantly obvious drinking arena, or does it speak more to you for wanting to bring your kids there in the first place? read more

A wonderful experience that is comprised of great food, service and environment. The layout of the space and the ambiance is intimate as soon as you walk in. Perfect for a date or a dinner between friends looking to enjoy great food and company. We were offered the patio by the hostess; a bit skeptical, she reassured us that it was covered and heated. "A patio in March?!" was my first reaction, but boy did it end up being a gorgeous evening on the lakeside. We ordered two beer flights (they have an extensive wine and beer list) and split their Truffle pasta and Boardwalk Salad (which is served atop a pizza crust!). Everything was fantastic. The truffle pappardelle pasta had huge slices of portabella mushrooms; perfect for any mushroom lover and the salad was dressed appropriately given that bleu cheese can easily overpower any dish. The salad was crisp to the forks touch; well prepared. I would ask for dressing on the side next time just so I could take it home and save the perfection for later! The portions given the quality of ingredients and price are unbeatable! This restaurant is perfect for both those looking for a gratifying and unique experience for their taste buds as well as those who prefer to stick to well-received Italian classics. Sheboygan has always had a wonderful foodie scene, so it was no surprise when Harry's popped up on the South Pier with a creative menu and excellent wine selection. The pizza, antipasti and other menu offerings always deliver, and the vegetarian options are just as thoughtfully crafted as their meaty counterparts. In addition to the basics like margherita and marinara, many other options including flavorful cheeses and well prepared veggies grace the menu. I do think that they could stand to let the prohibition theme chill out a little- I've always felt that the costumed staff is a cheap gimmick that feels mismatched compared to the quality of the food and beverages. read more

Staying at Blue Harbor and visited Prohibition Bistro on a Monday evening. They were very welcoming to the kids and staff was very friendly. We ordered the bread and pesto and the pomodoro (like bruschetta) - both had great flavor and fresh ingredients. The server even brought us extra bread to polish off the pesto; and it was worth it - the bread was warm and soft. If you are visiting with kids, here are two tips. The pizza on the kids menu is massive!! It's the same size as the pizzas on the main menu. So, tip one: the kids pizza can easily feed 2 kids, especially if you are ordering appetizers. Tip two: the kids pasta is standard size, so it broke my heart to pay $14 for noodles that likely cost less than $1. If your child is adventurous, order some appetizers and then for dinner, give them a little from your entree. Should definitely be enough, as the entrees are good sized. Overall, a little pricey, but great flavors. You know what they say...You get what you pay for (unless it's off the kids menu). read more

The largest portion of this rating goes to the quality of the staff and owner. They are incredibly kind and respectful. My girlfriend left her purse the other day. Her parents and us came back to pick it up and the owner had it in his office. He returned it and offered us all samples of wine on the house. This is just an example of the kindness he and his staff showed. A good portion of this rating goes to the quality of the food and wine. Never made it brought the door because when I called the girl "behind the bar" was so rude. I asked about accommodating a large table, they can't accommodate over 8. I asked for the wait time for two separate tables, and she said she couldn't give me that. I'll be honest; I wasn't sure if it deserves 3 or 4 stars. The food: There are, unfortunatly, a lot of eurpean style pizza places in town, and this one is right down the middle. It was tasty, quick, and fresh. It wasn't bad, however it didn't jump out. The Staff: They were attentive, polite, and quick. Our waitress knew the menu, could answer all the questions, and was happy to joke around. It was appreciated. The atmosphere: This is where I think it deserved 3 stars. The actual building is in a great location, with views of the river and lake, and the inside had nice decor. The downside is the overly-cheesy and "we tried to hard" prohibition outfits. It's hard to determine exactly the clientele they are trying to focus on. It's not really aimed to the hip our younger crowd, it isn't aimed at families - it truly is a style all their own. The takeaway - I would recommend it. It's not terribly pricey, the food and drinks were good, and the service was excellent.
