We only stopped in for a few drinks, but loved the atmosphere and the bartenders were extremely helpful and kind.

Denied entry to my 30 year old brother because his ID is Canadian. They stated that it is Florida law to have a Florida ID to get into a florida bar. I'm a lawyer and know that is not a law. They told me to look up that law without being able to state what legislation or section that would be. Totally discriminated against. We got a police officer who told them that it isn't a law to deny entry for not having a Florida ID. Absolutely terrible. Never go here. read more

We came to Prohibition Kitchen hungry and left very happy. Our server, Rebecca, answered all our questions and made great recommendations. We started with the German Pretzel. It was very large, warm and delicious. I had to physically stop myself from eating it so I had plenty of room for my burger. I ordered the bootlegger burger after consulting our server. Best choice I could have made. It was insanely good. The bacon, fried green tomato and pimento cheese go together perfectly, the holy trio of burger toppings. We chose this old 1920's theme place because of its unique atmosphere. It had seating at the bar and upstairs seating that overlooked the bar. The selection of drinks and drinks was nice and gave us a variety. The short rib grilled cheese was really good! Burgers were great! The shakes and peach cobbler were wonderful! But the service was what kept us there for over 2 hours. They were on it! The decor was so interesting. You could find something everywhere to look at. You were able to create your own drink concoction such as a unique old fashioned. Truly a wonderful place to visit! We enjoyed our evening at Prohibition Kitchen. There was a guy singing and playing guitar. We had the perfect seat up in the balcony where we could see him but the sound wasn't overwhelming. We ordered the deviled eggs appetizer. Who knew you could fit so many flavors on half an egg? I don't remember what they all were, but they were delicious. And then we split the braised short ribs with mashed potatoes. The meat was so tender you didn't even need a knife to cut it. It was the perfect late evening dinner for us. read more

I cannot recommend this place more highly. The ambiance was excellent, the service was perfect, and the food was amazing. We mixed and matched a number of the small plates and they were all fantastic. It's in the heart of old town, so parking could be a challenge. We were walking around so not for us. I highly recommend the devilled eggs. I believe they rotate the menu on these, but the ones we had were excellent - cooked just right and an amazing combination of toppings. We were looking for a restaurant that offers more than Burgers. Prohibition has lots of options for delicious-looking Burgers. However, wanting something else, we found limited options to enjoy. We split the 16 oz. T-bone steak, served with lightly seasoned sauteed spinach and grilled onion. The food was prepared with excellence, the steak being very flavorful. The meal would have been nicely rounded out had it been served with a baked potato. Later we learned that they do have mashed potatoes on the menu which we could have ordered as a side, I think. We had delicious fried frog legs that are good as an appetizer, but being smaller legs, you can't make a meal on me. My friend had a lobster roll that she raved about! Coming in at $21, she still felt it was worth it because it had large chunks of Lobster that were served on a piece of bread that was surprisingly good. My party also loved the macaroni and cheese and beer cheese soup. The food was very good but the service was excellent. Our server was upbeat and friendly and very attentive. The manager came by and checked up on us, as well, making sure we were getting the quality service that they expected. I was quite impressed with their attentiveness. Hubby and I took a quick getaway to St Augustine. The whole restaurant was packed but we were lucky to find two empty seats at the bar. The bar tenders were helpful in selecting something new to try. The pretzel was MASSIVE and delicious. Had to wait for fresh oysters until 3pm and my husband said it was worth the wait. I get that COVID makes it difficult to run a service industry business in these "strange times". But if it's the weekend, avoid this place. St. Augustine is a tourist environment. To be told to "wait around until something opens up." for hours, more than once, is just horrible service. We get it. COVID creates a capacity issue. But this spot needs to be the slightest bit mindful of our time. We literally were told to wait outside, twice, for well over an hour as people pushed their way past the door man to get in. So in short, if you're not willing to be aggressive to the door man/woman... just go elsewhere. They don't NEED your businesses. They are clearly at COVID capacity all day and would prefer you don't come in. The door man pushes people away. I ordered PUBWICH 16 ciabatta, roast beef, tomato, pickled red onion, & horseradish cream. I got the sandwich but it didn't have the horseradish cream on it. I ask the waitress for some sauce . By the time I got it I was half way through the sandwich , when I got the bill for the meal I was charged a dollar for the sauce that was supposed to be on the sandwich in the first place. Although there was predicted to be a 1.5 hr wait, we were seated in about 45 mins (arriving around 5pm...we did hear folks coming in around 6 who were estimated to be waiting for 3 hrs!) Our server was nice and knowledgeable about the menu items we asked about. My husband and I decided to try a few appetizers. It was hard to chose because many looked delicious....but we went with the wings and fries. Crispiest wings I've had in a long long time and the BBQ Sauce was so good I didn't even miss the fact that there was no ranch dressing. My husband didn't feel the same and was surprised by the 50 cents charge for dipping sauce. Great drinks from the bar! No disappointment there. We get our table and put food order in. About an hour later the waitress does last call for food. We informed her we hadn't eaten. Then the chef shows up to confirm we did not get our food. Over the next 20 min our food started to show up, cold and missing sides and ingredients. Manager stopped by and could care less about out experience. Found this place on Yelp in hopes of getting some vegetarian food for my partner. I came with him and my nephew and we all left epically stoked with the meal! Kevin had the cauliflower steak and baked potato, Jay had the BBQ burger and I had Deviled eggs and the black & blue salad. Sweet teas and a lemonade later, we were too full to try one of the incredible looking desserts. It's loud but we knew that from reviews. My first experience at this place was perfect, I think it was in November 2019 - food came out piping hot and delicious and we got a complimentary postcard/picture taken of us while we were dining in. There was a very talented singer that night, they have live music every Friday and Saturday I believe. The second experience was good but not great, the live brass band "Let's Ride" were fantastic!! But the food came out cold. The drinks kept me in a good mood though and the server was attentive. The band was definitely the highlight of the evening, they had so much energy and talent! read more
