I did a LOT of research for places to rent crates from when I was moving and landed on prontoboxes because they had consistently good reviews and a price that was lower than the competitors with no hidden costs. My experience was very personal and great (you can tell this is a smaller company). I was reached out to the day before my crates were to be delivered asking if they could deliver them a day later due to some issues on their end; I told them I was planning to go out of town in a few days and really didn't want to lose the day packing, and they made it happen as scheduled. The crates arrived right on schedule and were brought in to my apartment. After I moved and finished unpacking, I was done a couple days early and texted to see if they could pick the boxes up early and they came out later that day and took them from inside my apartment. I had a great experience with pronto boxes. While I don't recommend their garment boxes, I definitely recommend the moving bins. The customer service is also on point. Their bins are pretty spacious compared to cardboard boxes. There's also less mess and more space when you move as you don't need to worry about breaking down and getting rid of all that cardboard. I got the studio apartment package for 3 weeks and didn't think I needed the dolly - but the dolly came in handy as I was packing and unpacking, to more easily get to the boxes I needed. The boxes themselves were easily stackable and you'd know if you overpacked them based on the design. The boxes are also super sturdy. To label them, I'd recommend using masking tape - super cheap and no need for all that extra label paper. The tape also peels right off when you're done but stays on better than the reusable labels. (I didn't use the pro to labels because they were a bit small for me). When the boxes arrived, they were mostly clean and ready to go. The boxes' drop off and pickup were both super smooth. When I was not satisfied with the garment boxes, I was only charged for the week I had it. I did have to pay for the extra pickup, but it was still cheaper than keeping the garment boxes for 3 weeks. The boxes stack into each other easily when you're done so it saves space as you unpack. Pro tip: as you unpack, stack the boxes right onto the dolly, including the box you're in the process of unpacking. Customer service is super responsive over text and it felt like they took an interest in making the process as smooth as possible for me. I had unpacked a day early and they were able to come by and pick up the boxes the same day. I was getting unlimited cardboard boxes for free from my dad's job but was glad I used pronto boxes instead for this move. read more

Great for the environment and outstanding service. We have used Pronto Boxes multiple times (every time we moved) because we were upset about the fact that we had to 1) buy new cardboard boxes for every move -- what a hassle + $$$ 2) we hated the "waste" buying the boxes created (how terrible for the environment) 3) disliked you had to get so many boxes because you could not "load" them so heavily Pronto boxes was the first company we tried out and that we never went with anyone else should speak to everything.... Not only is this a great way to save $$$ and the environment but you can load those babies up heavy! Finally, I could just stack all of my ceramic plates in one box rather than spreading them across multiple boxes that would then have "lighter" things in them. With those pronto boxes, you just load them up as you wish! Whoohoo! Jason and Co. are absolutely lovely, professional and 100% reliable -- in fact they are OVER-RELIABLE and/or flexible if you need them to be (we were all there....sometimes you move does not happen as planned....) Each time, the pick-up and delivery service was on-time, super quick and thorough. They even provide you with a dolly that fits the boxes, so you can push them (even when loaded), so you don't even have to rent one! Lastly, the boxes were always clean (we recently moved during Covid and even then, the boxes were sanitized and cleaned thoroughly). These are the best! I just used Prontoboxes for the second time and there's no going back to cardboard boxes. The bins are very sturdy and easily stackable, making the whole packing process much easier, not to mention more environmentally friendly. Jason is so responsive and flexible, and pickup and drop-off were a breeze. You can order completely online, I needed to extend our time and that was also easy to do with a quick phone call. Highly recommend! Depending on your situation, I'd suggest leaving yourself at least a few days to unpack. Having to return them is definitely a good motivator to unpack quickly (vs. having those lingering cardboard boxes that somehow take months to unpack), but being able to do so strategically is worth the extra time. I cannot overstate how fabulous they are and how much easier their boxes made my move. Jason is very professional and responsive. His brother Chris delivered and picked up the boxes. He is also great. He texted to let us know when he would be arriving. I also checked with them ahead of time to make sure the times worked for everyone. Very good customer service. Much better than the rude lady who answers the phone at their pricier Queens competitor. I was skeptical about ordering from them since their website isn't that great looking but it turns out they used to be a franchise of that national box renting service you've probably seen a commercial for. I needed boxes the next day and they were happy to oblige. When I needed to extend my rental period more than once Jason on the phone made it seem like no big deal. The guy who dropped off mg boxes noticed I hadn't ordered enough zip ties for the number of boxes I ordered and brought along more in case I wanted to purchase them (I did). I was about to move apartments and did not want to buy, tape up, then dismantle and either store or immediately toss out cardboard boxes. Highly recommend using ProntoBoxes for your next move - small or big. Jason was great to communicate with and the entire transaction was seamless. Originally I went with ProntoBoxes vs. cardboard boxes for environmental reasons. However, they are a much more effective and efficient method of packing/moving. I went with the 1 bedroom package with two wardrobe boxes for my NYC apartment. At first I was a little worried that I might not have enough boxes but ended up with 2 extra, which were perfect for miscellaneous items. The wardrobe boxes fit two closets worth of clothing and jackets. The ProntoBoxes were very clean (cleaner than cardboard) and easy to fasten close vs taping cardboard. Best of all, after my move - I did not need to breakdown boxes to dispose. Dropoff and pickup were on time. They stored nicely when they were empty. I attached photos below of them empty (stacked in my closet) and packed. Bonus: the movers loved the ease of moving the boxes. They finished in less time and I saved money. This is the 2nd time I've used Pronto boxes for my moves and hands down is the best decision I made for each time I moved. It allows you to streamline and organize your move efficiently, and saved me not only time, but money. My movers were really happy I had them and my move only took about 5 hours (and that's with travel time and a lunch break). Both Jason and Chris were extremely accommodating and coordinated with me regarding delivery and pickup times in a timely fashion. I am thankful that I was able to use Pronto Boxes with my moves from the city to CT. I did have to pay fees to accommodate travel and gas expenses due to the distances at both the delivery ($40 in cash) and pick up ($75 in cash) dates. This is a fantastic product and the service was great to match. They show up when you ask and seem to have a good handle on what your needs will be. We had a lot of extra stuff so we made a couple of extra trips in orders to free up some of the boxes but I think for a typical move they have it down to a science. Boxes are sturdy and none of our stuff was damaged at the end of the move. Then because you know you're returning them you speed-unpack and stack them in the corner. They take up almost no space at all. And then the gentleman comes to pick them up as soon as you're ready. Two minor gripes but they aren't a huge deal: wardrobe boxes were flimsy and a pain to keep open. I think we have an average amount of clothes and two wardrobes doesn't cut it for a 2BR. The other issue is zip ties/labels. They don't provide enough zip ties to close both ends and with difficult to close boxes you need to do that. This was easily remedied by buying some extra at Walmart - problem solved. They should also provide some extra labels in case you reuse any of the boxes during your move. Just a suggestion.
