The prices here felt very reasonable, especially compared to some of the other bakeries near downtown that we found overpriced and underwhelming. For pastries, we tried the cinnamon roll, a fruit brioche/danish, and the Dubai strawberry bun. The cinnamon roll was amazing--easily the highlight among the pastries. The fruit brioche was fine, but probably something I would skip next time. The Dubai strawberry bun was nicely done and pleasantly balanced, not overly sweet. For savory items, we ordered the Pepp & Gather pizza and the Brekkie Sando. Definitely get the pizza. It was simple but incredibly satisfying. The Brekkie Sando was also very filling, and the egg was cooked perfectly. The only odd part was the wait. We arrived around lunchtime, and apparently the chef had stepped out, so we ended up waiting about 20 minutes for the food. It felt a little strange during such a busy hour, but thankfully the food made up for it. In short, one of the better bakery and café experiences we had in the area. read more

After visiting Paso Robles I now think every town should have a Proof and Gather! I managed to find an excuse to visit every day of my visit... So Good! I've been to Proof & Gather a few times now, usually thanks to the Too Good To Go app (which is such a fun way to try their pastries), but I almost always end up ordering something fresh while I'm there. This time I had their English muffin sandwich, and it was worth the wait. The English muffins are homemade (and you can even buy them on their own), the bacon was really good, and they stacked two eggs with cheese and what seemed like a house-made sauce that pulled everything together. It felt thoughtful and satisfying, not just thrown together. One thing to know: this is a small place and they take their time preparing food. If you're in a rush, plan ahead. I made the mistake of stopping in on my way to work, and it's definitely more of a "slow down and enjoy" kind of spot. Their case is filled with a variety of unique pastries, along with fresh homemade sourdough and focaccia, which makes it hard to leave without grabbing something extra. Proof & Gather is a cute storefront located in Tin City with its own small parking lot shared with 3 other small businesses. I've been the benefactor of a gift from a friend, and was able to try several things: a raspberry something-another, various cookies, and the winner -- a cinnamon roll. All great. But I've been dreaming of a bread from there. So, I picked up a a bodacious-looking sourdough batard -- and it was an OMG rolling-eyes-in-the-back-of-head experience. Can I tell if I'm a fan? Not sure if this is recently closed or not but I was here earlier this month. It's co-located with Central Coast Creamery and Deli and is pretty much a breakfast/lunch spot in Tin City. We got an Egg Sandwich and Deli Sandwich and they were simple but still good. The bread is nicely baked with good chew. It's a cafe type of vibe so pretty straightforward and a good stopping point if you're here for a quick bite. We were picking up some stuff at Etto's Pasta Shop just across the road. They have limited selections of pastries but what they have is good. We got a breakfast sando which was tasty and just the right size to share (for us). They don't have drip coffee so an Americano is the closest thing, but a bit too watery. The cappuccino was good but they were out of raw sugar packets. They did offer their baking sugar to put in. The nice lady taking our order also made our coffees. They have comfortable seating both inside and out. Overall, it's a good stop in Tin City. read more

Wonderful bakery! My partner is gluten free and was able to have an almond based gluten free muffin with sliced almonds and berries. He enjoyed it. I LOVED the cookie recommendation-i can't have dairy so I figured there was one vegan cookie option. But when I asked, they said that all of the cookies were dairy free. I got the lemon rosemary olive oil cookie that our cashier recommended and it was SO delicious. The texture was very soft and flavors were unexpectedly pleasing. I don't think I've ever had a cookie with that pairing, highly recommend! Great interior design, we sat by the window which has a nice view to the beautiful trees in the neighborhood. Happened upon this bakery during a very recent trip. Oh my goodness, what a bakery!! Scones, bread all of it amazing! The bread crust is flaky just right and the bread is soft and doughy. The scones fluffy and just the right texture and super yummy. Will now be a required stop on our Paso trips. read more

We stopped in a half hour before closing and I'm so glad they were still open. I got a cinnamon roll and it was delicious! It was soft and tasty! My wife tried some of the vegan cookies and she was so happy! They were fresh and flavorful! Our group ended up eating most of what was left! Great baked goods, great service! read more

We found this place when we had overslept and needed to grab a quick breakfast in "Tin City" before going to the Mighty Mushroom tour. Really glad that we found it. Be forewarned that while it is quicker than a restaurant, it's not quick, especially if you order something that needs to be prepared/is not in their bakery display case. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and it was delicious and epic! I mean, the egg is fluffed until it is an inch tall! What!? Super fluffy egg and the english muffin hit the spot! Huge fan. I also got to try the cinnamon roll and the jam toast. They use a really tart jam for the jam toast, which is awesome, as I"m a fan of "not too sweet" and a strong believer that a bit of acidity makes most things better. Im not that into cinnamon rolls in general, but my partner enjoyed it a lot and thought that it hit all of his criteria for a great cinnamon roll: well seasoned with the cinnamon, gooey, fluffy, and generously topped with the icing. read more

I had dropped some folks here to explore "Tin City". I parked on Limestone St. and was considering a restroom visit when I saw this bakery. The unique name warrented a Yelp stop and that was that. The adjoining business are complementary, Ice cream scoops and an upscale Central Coast deli. P&G is not an overkill bakery, there are selected items, a few of these, some of those, and something for everyone. If you can't find something to enjoy at a fresh bakery you need to just go to a grocery store. Simple quality is at the core of this bakery. Okay three types of Brownies...you got your with walnuts on top, Rocky Road and, Butterscotch Brownie...let's give that one a go. I'll have a Mocha coffee to go with that please, totaled out at $11 and the change went into the tip jar (tip karma). I sat outside at a small cafe table which was quite pleasant, down off the street in their parking lot. Parking in Tin City can be a challenge most days. The coffee was made perfectly and just hot enough, the brownie was defiantly a brownie but it was missing the butterscotch...hum. I was expecting a caramel type of butterscotch ribbon running through and through. Ah well. The brownie was also a bit crumbly not sure of the cause of that. My brownies always had a small box of chocolate pudding added to them for additional flavor and as a binding agent. Nevertheless the "Splash and Snack Dash" was perfect. Breads were also featured in the case Sourdough of course, a sea salt focaccia, brioche, and french baguettes to name a few of the fresh offerings. From a customer perspective, P&G was clean, efficient, and staffed by a friendly and attentive barista and cashier. An espresso ordered for "here" was served in a paper cup. Baked options looked fresh and varied. From an applicant perspective, I applied to one online opening with a voicemail followup, and six months later to another with an in-person resume drop-off followup. We just love their baked goods! The families favorites are the cinnamon rolls. I am gluten-intolerant and I am so happy to have found delicious soft, gewy chocolate chip cookies and other! Cute, clean and small Bakery and coffee shop connected to a deli. We were so happy to find a coffee spot in Tin City finally. This place had a great selection of baked goods and bread. First of all the service was amazing, it's so good to be in front of someone who doesn't look like she doesn't want to be there and know the products she is selling and is taking the time to describe them. This made the experience even greater. Now the food!! Cinnamon roll and berry rolls amazing you'll want another one! Scones, cookies, bread, coffee Everything we had was delicious, fresh, and not overly sweet which allows you to taste all the beautiful flavors. I have gotten many surprise bags from here from Too Good to Go. I've always been happy with these. I ordered a garlic loaf for Thanksgiving to stuff with my artichoke dip.
